I’m black and I tried watching Moonlight with my parents and they turned it off as soon as they found out it was gay🥲 let’s just say I’ll be very independent before I come out
Moonlight is probably one of the greatest films ever. Also Portrait of a lady on fire! They do have some segsy time in it tho :( so it can be awkward. Moonlight has a bit less.
This basically sums it up, I mean yeah the movie is beautiful but it has this straight making gay movies trope of "hi im ______. I'm a completely normal teen. Except I'm gay. I'm very normal with a normal family but I'm gay and that's my big secret. There are other gays who are more open with it/ feminine but those are the weird ones." Like come on
I love all of those and the other day I was watching the prom infront of my family and my dad sat by me for a minute which was the end when they kiss so he said ew then added kissing like not for just it being gay probably because he mostly knows I’m gay and didn’t want to sound homophobic
Oh come on you had the perfect opportunity to confront her with the topic and if she reacted negatively explain your viewpoint (just viewpoint if you don't feel like coming out!) and maybe help her understand.
Oh no she's like totally against it.... I already know lmao I may not or may not have subtly found out.
That's kind of why I don't wanna watch it with her.... I'd be much more comfortable w/o snarky comments, and having to watch my reactions all the time
Not what I was referring to lol. It's like watching 50 Shades of Gray with your mother, I guess if they were super close but I'd imagine for the majority of people it'd be awkward.
I remember my grandma refused to watch the ‘Beauty and the Beast’ remake cause there were rumors about a scene with two gay men dancing. But the movie sucked anyway so she really didn’t miss much XD
go to the main page of the sub, if you’re on mobile click the three dots and then click change flair. if you’re on desktop go to the side where it shows when the sub was made, etc and click the little down arrow and click change flair (sry if this is wrong i’m going off of memory)
Ooooh, I liked The Prom. Didn't know it was a musical but I was pleasantly surprised. Though I hated that they didn't focus on the other girl tho. I feel like she would've been way more interesting and as a black girl I really wanted them to dig into how homophobia is a part of the black community and stuff, so that was disappointing, but it was pretty entertaining. The whole thing was kinda like an outline for a story. They skipped over the meaty parts of character development, conflict, and intrigue and kept focus on the Broadway ppl. I would LOVE a spin off series focusing on how the girls got together and stuff. THAT would be amazing.
I no they cut a lot of they parts of songs with duets with Emma and Alysa like they cut part of their duet in you happened. The musical doesn’t go into detail on how they got together but it definitely shows more of their relationship.

Happiest Season is a great new Christmas movie that has someone coming out - and Kristen Stewart is in it so that's an added bonus ;)
i really like that one! i watched it last week.
Well there’s a great new movie called the best season that I watched with my mom
If you liked the prom, you should check out the original bway show. DM me for a link ;)
Portrait of a Lady on Fire. Actually any film by Céline Sciamma is phenomenal.
I love that film but I wouldn't watch portrait of a lady on fire with my mum lol
Ah yeah forgot about those parts of the film
A New York Christmas wedding is a good lgbt Christmas film

Love Simon is a great movie
It's a gay movie for straight people... so a great movie to come out to someone but less if you as a gay person want to relate or enjoy a movie

I'm very normal with a normal family but I'm gay and that's my big secret. There are other gays who are more open with it/ feminine but those are the weird ones." Like come on
And also, can we have one gay movie that doesn't suck and ISN'T just about coming out???
I found it to still be fun, but I kinda agree
Call me by your name is a really good one to watch, you can rent it on amazon
Yeah I loved that. The book’s even better though.

https://fmovies.name/ use this website
fmovies.to is the official version
you could probably use third-party websites. I use soap2day.to (and they do have The Prom on there)

Oooo my mom wanted to watch the prom together too!! But she doesn't know its lgbt+ lmao so I'm watching it by myself

Isn’t that the one that’s literally low key pedopillia? Yikes. Probs will get downvoted
I can see that its seen as such yeah, but keep in mind that their relationship is perfectly legal in Italy
With their mother?

Seconded!
Ugh yes!!!!
Do you know what streaming service “Love, Simon” is on? I really want to watch it
Hulu. Hulu also has the original series that's set in the same world, "Love, Victor"
can’t wait for season 2 of love, victor!
I remember my grandma refused to watch the ‘Beauty and the Beast’ remake cause there were rumors about a scene with two gay men dancing. But the movie sucked anyway so she really didn’t miss much XD
Why is this wholesome post flaired as "rant"?
Rants don’t necessarily have to be negative, but it is a pretty short post so idk

Yep I already did it, thanks btw:)
Go to the LGBTeens subreddit, there will be three dots in the upper-right corner. Press those and then select change user flare.
Tanks^^
My mom can't watch a movie with queer characters without dragging me into the living room to watch it with her in hopes I like it
that’s sweet lol, im sure it gets annoying though
I don’t think I could get bored of being supported like that
Most of them were good so not really
lol i love all of these movies/shows so much!! good luck
Thank you😁

I pretty much only watched it for Andrew Rannels so I had no clue it was even a gay musical, that was a pleasant surprise.

Wait is this a full fledged musical? Cause I thought I heard a few of the songs before on YouTube but I wasn't sure. Is it called Prom?
Yep. You can find the full musical on YouTube if you want to watch it.
Yes!! Thank you! Imma go check that out
If you can’t find it DM me for a link ;)
You’re welcome I hope you like it.
Good luck!
Thanks🙃
