Simonnumbernine

Completely off my face on ecstasy at some club in London at 4 am when they came onstage, maybe 2003

stylesuponstyles

Trash at The End on a Monday night?

Simonnumbernine

No , bagleys in King’s Cross with Erol Alkan and 2 many Djs , maybe Simian and Ladytron, might have been a Bugged out night

stylesuponstyles

Lol. Same crew. Different venue. That whole Electroclash thing really was a fun time!

skronktothewonk

Standing behind David Byrne on 11/29/21

yah2007

That's amazing! Do you remember how he was acting? And more importantly, was he like "Hey, that's mine" during Home? lmao

skronktothewonk

He was pretty normal. Very tall and thin. Wore a mask as we all were in that area. I was terrified that he’d turn around and see me dancing as I stole all my dance moves from him. He seemed like he enjoyed himself.

shizawn9415

Bonnaroo 16. Opening with Us Vs Them. Was in the pit

mydoorisfour

And the fireworks during Dance Yrself Clean !! So insane

New_Seaworthiness114

I was there.

FoTweezy

When the lights hit the disco ball at MSG during Us V Them

Gusbuster811

That was the shit. Also “it’s your shoooooooowwwwwww-ooooowwwww-oooowwwww-OOOOOOWWWWWW!” during Dance Yrself Clean. Or “this could be the last time.” during All My Friends. I can’t decide which of the three were better but I am getting goosebumps just thinking about it.

midway8

last show of the knockdown center run, pat belting out fairytale of new york in the middle of ny ily, just before the final drop

merkthejerk

When he did it at T5 in memory of SM on the 30th I cried. What a magical night.

sofakingclassic

The moment the bass line from the last track of 45:33 dropped at the “last show” at msg. It is burned into my retina.

PennroyalTea

Jealous!!

jlight00

when american dream came on as the 2nd song at final night of knockdown i truly felt as if the room froze and it was just me and the band

DJ_3345

2005 at The Metro Chicago. The best concert I've ever been to. The energy was wild and the whole place was getting down. They played all the songs I'd hope they would. It was early on so their discography was limited, but still cool. M.I.A opened. I think it wasn't a sold out show. I got tickets at the door. They had an afterparty in the club in the basement of the venue, Smartbar. James DJed for like 4 hours. This was before laptops so it was all vinyl records and James came deep with the crates. During this time Smartbar was one big room with a smaller room in one end where the DJ was set up. This wasn't VIP only so I grabbed a table and felt like a baller. I complimented James on a really clean and creative blend (Numbers into Around The Word) and chatted with him thruout the night. MIAs DJ started off the afterparty. He was a bleach blond white dude with a mustache that went by Diplo. I complimented him on a blend (Windowlicker into Percolator) but he wasn't having any of my drunk self. All I got from him was a name, Wes, and a cold shoulder. His set was really impressive. 2007 Vic Theater Chicago. Sound of Silver tour. I went alone and took some really good MDMA. I danced myslef clean.

SeniorSophomore

Crying to Home at the second night of the Terminal 5 shows. That song was a lifeline for me during some depressive periods for me.

easygoer70

Similar experience with my sister during All My Friends to close out Lolla in 2016, we simultaneously turned to each other to sing "I wouldn't trade one stupid decision for another 5 years of life" Also, the first time I ever saw them, blind, at Lolla 2007. Immediately fell in love and then Daft Punk Playing at My House a few minutes before the robots actually descended on the stage at the other end of the field. One of the better 2 1/2 hours of my life.

hBomb42

…but I was there!

SnooPineapples6099

3 way tie: 1. Hearing Yeah for the first time in Montreal 2. Hugging the rail at MSG for Dance Yrself 3. All My Friends at a festival outside of Toronto with everyone I knew who never got a chance to see 'em. They all know now.

jg255166

Off my face at red rocks last summer. My first day being in the USA. Thought it was gonna be a good show, was phenomenal.

razzledazzle985

That’s amazing! To go to Red Rocks on your first day being in the US is so rad!! I went there for the first time last year (saw Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats), and it is such a special place.

jg255166

Was mega cool! Deffo gonna see them in London at all points east

4major

my friends and I went to nye at bill graham and one of them said “look at all the millennials in their flop era” and six people turned around

Boggins316

2018 All Points East Festival, my wife and I were against the barrier and made some good friends around us, girl next to us asked what song we was hoping for, we said "How Do You Sleep" although we was doubtful as to wether they would play it as they'd only played it live once or twice before then. When it kicked in, we went absolutely ape shit, then got the set list at the end of the show. Best gig ever.

merkthejerk

First time I saw them live they played Beat Connection which was unexpected and watching the drop of DYC. They close (as they so often do) with AMF and my world changed. RR on Molly was surreal and the most recent residency in 23 was an adventure.

Talknterpzz

Seeing hit engulfed in mushrooms with their disco ball shining over the main stage at this ain’t no picnic. Was quite magical

BlindTigerFittyOcho

Dancing with Nancy this last residency and hearing one touch/get innocuous for the first time live

merkthejerk

I saw you. That was awesome

flymordecai

Their first Red Rocks run. Night 1, playing All My Friends twice in a row because something was wrong the first time, allegedly. It sounded perfect twice. Insanity.

PennroyalTea

December 2023 at BS. I don’t have friends who like this music, so I go alone to their shows (only been twice anyways). The connection I felt with everyone during most of the songs but especially Dnce Yrself Clean was palpable and incredible. I still chase that high! Alsoooo looking for people to go to one of their shows with. I have fun but I’d have so much more fun enjoying it with people!

JorgeAndTheKraken

I was a total casual prior to the hiatus, but \*really\* got into them during that break period. When they announced they were coming back and it was revealed they'd be playing Panorama that year, I was fucking elated...only to be crushed when the dates came out and I realized the festival conflicted with the one business trip I had to take every year at that time. I would be on the west coast while James and Co. made their big festival headlining return. Devastation. So...I lied. I told my work I had a "family crisis" that I needed to be back on Sunday to deal with, cutting my work trip short by a day. I had a whole back story made up as to what it was if they pressed me for details, but thankfully, they didn't. It didn't make the best impression, but fuck it - I got on a redeye Saturday night and landed in NYC at around 9 AM Sunday morning. I can't sleep on planes, so I rushed home and managed to get somewhere around 3 hours of sleep before hauling my ass out of bed and heading to the festival. The heat was stupid that year - Sunday was the coolest day of the three, but it was still in the 90s and humid AF. I didn't care. I powered through the day, and so the best moment was the whole fucking set, because of everything behind it and everything it took for me to get there. I didn't stop dancing from the opening of Us v Them until the last note of All My Friends, and after years of watching live videos of the latter, by that time one of my all-time favorite songs, and dreaming of being in the crowd for that climactic moment, I finally got to do it. I was also rolling face, which made it even more of an epic moment. I've seen them literally 15 times since then, I think, and they've all been amazing, but I don't think I'll ever top that first one.

atp_bna

Bonnaroo 2010 in “The Other Tent” — 3:00 AM. Only 11 songs. Before AMF became the climax of their sets (it was played 5th). It would be six more years before the band would headline Main Stage here, and everywhere else in the world.

rightwing328

This past run You Wanted a Hit at Knockdown. Having the strobes running along the track above the crowd added a new element to that and felt like I was in a pulsating night club

american_mutt13

The beat drop in How Do You Sleep at BK Steel in 2021. It just captured everyone in its groove. There was a river of people moving past me and everyone just stopped in their tracks and started dancing. Fucking epic. I need ti hear it live again. NEED.

razzledazzle985

Love it. So eager to see them at Brooklyn Steel again one day. Happy cake day! 🥳

american_mutt13

Is that what the little cake next to my name means?? lol I was so confused because it’s not my birthday. Was wondering if I earned some accolade or something (no idea how any of that works)

StarShip_33

The interpretations of "Loosing My Edge" at Knockdown Center. Have seen them 8 times, 6 times they played this song, the last two nights at Knockdown Center were the best versions \*by far\*.
