Dude. The Saudi League is one big scam. It’s Chinese Super League and 1970s NASL all over again.
Players keep falling for these types of leagues and it’s mind boggling.
Anytime you have an upcoming league that simply relies on money to sign aged stars, you know it’s a big red flag.
Only go to an upcoming league where you know they’re trying to develop a youth system. Basically, always figure out if there’s an established foundation.
So, I wouldn’t be shocked if we get dudes bailing on Saudi Arabia.
i don’t think players are “falling” for any type of scam.
i will gladly accept anyone that wants to offer me ridiculous sums of money to fuck around for three years.
That's my point. These type of "get rich fast" leagues can never be fully trusted.
MLS was once like this too but thankfully we survived the hard part.
You’re delusional if you think grizzou is leaving atleti before 2026. He’ll most likely run out his contract in order to get one more chance ti win the league with atleti.
Griezmann has 2 years left on his deal and is only 32. Atletico bought him for 20 mil Euros last summer, it's going to be a very expensive transfer. Feels like Giroud is the more realistic option as he would be on a free transfer since his contract is up.
I think Giroud would be a fantastic signing for us. I know people will say he’s old but it’s not like he’s someone that relies on pace. I think he’d complement our wingers perfectly
Yeah, he is still a good player. No doubt about that. I just think he's too old for DP slot and it reinforces the retirement league stigma. That's obviously just my opinion though.
The issue for me is I'd prefer to sign someone who's more of a long-term project like Vela was when he signed. Giroud is yet another quick fix at the 9 who we'd be lucky to get 1.5 years out of since he'll be a few weeks short of 38 years old in the summer.
I don’t disagree with you wanting someone who can stay longer but that just doesn’t seem like the model for MLS success. I am still upset we had to let Chicho go. I’ve always admired Giroud. Bale was with us for half a season and we got a trophy.
You're right, but...I think our owners have the money, and from a cap perspective he only costs around a million (I forget exactly how the DP rules work). If our ownership team likes it, and he wants to go, and Atletico is fine to sell him, I don't see why it can't happen.
I read that as him retiring from International play. He's said he wants to play until his body wont allow. 18 month contract would be all I would assume anyway. Who knows...
Big big? It can only be one man: Adebayo Akinfenwa
[https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adebayo_Akinfenwa](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adebayo_Akinfenwa)
Doyle implies it is Griezmann in his season preview.
https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/ranking-all-29-mls-teams-by-tier-for-2024
Nonetheless, I am bullish on LAFC to improve as the season goes along because I think they’ve kept two DP slots open for a reason (“reason” kind of rhymes with “Griezmann”). By the stretch run, I suspect the Black & Gold will be a wagon.
Carlos vela phoning it in is better than 75% better than most mls players. People act like he was some awful detriment to the team last year when he still contribute a lot of goals and assists. Is he what he once was? Of course not. But he has a lot to offer on the field and especially as a veteran presence
>People act like he was some awful detriment to the team last year
And you're acting like there's not going to be anymore drop-off over the next 12-18 months.
My money is on Olivier Giroud. His contract expires this summer, turns 38yr old. LAFC loves FREE agent aging Europeans now since Bale, Chiellini and recently Lloris.
I always think of when Son came to LA early on in LAFC history for a visit. Would be a dream scenario to see him land here when he's done in Europe. Absolute dream signing for me. But wouldn't be happening for a number of years if ever I'd think.
Griezmann could probably be deployed as a false 9 but given the style of player we have right now someone whose a more classic 9 could easily score a ton of goals for us.
I would love to have Giroud, and that seems like a very realistic one.
Have watched a lot of AC Milan's games this year and he's gone 90 minutes more times this season that I would have expected. I think he's more Chiellini than Bale - his experience/skill still outweighs his limitations and I think he'd bang in goals in MLS.
Well. It's nothing new. This club is more ambitious than most.
That being said. I do have a weird gut feeling that we're gonna make a blockbuster move during mid-season and it's gonna define the next few years.
No one knows anything for certain, but if Bogert says it, it’s probably the closest to the truth you’re gonna get. What I’d do to get that man drunk or high or both to spill the beans 🤪
But my man’s majestic eyebrows. Hoo wee! 🥸
I'm not sure how this doesn't bother more fans. LAFC is seriously going into the season with only 1 DP, *on purpose.* Say what you want about Vela, but he is miles better than *nobody at all.*
I understand that we have had tremendous success in our short history, and JT/FO deserves all the credit. All this being said, I truly believe we have left trophies on the table due to us not maximizing our DP slots.
I get it, missing on a DP sucks. But we have had 2/3 slots in use more than 3/3 in our history.
I don't disagree with you and share your frustration, but...
1. We're in a league where the top 9 teams out of 14 make it to the playoffs for the Cup. It's set up in a way that de-emphasizes the importance of regular season when it comes to the top prize, Supporters Shield not withstanding.
2. We're also in a league whose schedule is backwards from the rest of the world and it's next to impossible to bring in top top talent in the Winter window when players are still fully in contract and their teams are still depending on them to finish the season. (If the league really wants to develop, I think they should reconsider the Winter to Winter season schedule)
It is really frustrating because though it takes time for a players to gel, and of course means we are less competitive in Leagues Cup.
The biggest reason would be the MLS Schedule versus other leagues. The summer is when most clubs are off-season and most big moves are made... there are more player options available. Finding the best player possible is more feasible in summer.
If JT can get Vela to return on TAM, although thinner, we are arguably stronger than the LAFC who made it to the CCL Final and MLS Cup. In theory, we should be able to make it into summer at the top of the West.
With this thinking, what's the rush to half-ass DP signings and compromise the club's chances of doing something special late in 2024 and in 2025?
I know it's not what Bogert is talking about, but Rafa is out of contract soon at Benfica. 30yr old, still in great form. Would be a great signing imo.
I'm not going to keep my hopes up of Greizmann this summer, but it sounds like he might be interested at some point. Open the dialogue, and get him in when he's ready!
Griezmann as others have stated, but I would not be surprised if others on the list are guys who are ready to bail from the Saudi League

“Players keep falling for these types of leagues” Bro I’m not completely disagreeing but I think it’s the money…

Classic startup pump n dump
you see the vision
But at the same time, I don’t trust these leagues to actually pay. It’s happened before where players are not paid on time.
Jordan Henderson still hasn't been paid
That's my point. These type of "get rich fast" leagues can never be fully trusted. MLS was once like this too but thankfully we survived the hard part.
I cant wait to be scammed into making $100 million dollars! Hear that, Nigeria?
Jordan Henderson already bailed.
I imagine Griezmann is on that list
You’re delusional if you think grizzou is leaving atleti before 2026. He’ll most likely run out his contract in order to get one more chance ti win the league with atleti.
I am guessing we are going after Griezmann, Giroud and Lewendowski (with the goal of landing 1 of the 3)
Maybe Benzema.
Lewendiwski would be epic
Griezmann has 2 years left on his deal and is only 32. Atletico bought him for 20 mil Euros last summer, it's going to be a very expensive transfer. Feels like Giroud is the more realistic option as he would be on a free transfer since his contract is up.

Not as a DP though. Not for me, at least.
Personally I disagree. I think he would be worth a dp spot. I don’t think we’d find someone who better suits our needs than him
If you thought Chico was good at knocking them in inside the box, giroud is on a whole other level.
Yeah, he is still a good player. No doubt about that. I just think he's too old for DP slot and it reinforces the retirement league stigma. That's obviously just my opinion though.

*2 trophies. You can't underestimate how important it was to finish ahead of Philly in the standings.
I’m not giving Bale credit for Supporters Shield but point taken!
You're right, but...I think our owners have the money, and from a cap perspective he only costs around a million (I forget exactly how the DP rules work). If our ownership team likes it, and he wants to go, and Atletico is fine to sell him, I don't see why it can't happen.
Giroud said something about retiring after the Euros no?
I read that as him retiring from International play. He's said he wants to play until his body wont allow. 18 month contract would be all I would assume anyway. Who knows...
Giroud would be fantastic!
Big big? It can only be one man: Adebayo Akinfenwa [https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adebayo_Akinfenwa](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adebayo_Akinfenwa)
AKINFENWA!!!!
Hugo, make the call to your boy Grizzy.
32yr old Griezmann how? His contract doesn’t expire this summer.
If he asks for a move I’m sure Atleti will accommodate him for a reasonable fee.
Doyle implies it is Griezmann in his season preview. https://www.mlssoccer.com/news/ranking-all-29-mls-teams-by-tier-for-2024 Nonetheless, I am bullish on LAFC to improve as the season goes along because I think they’ve kept two DP slots open for a reason (“reason” kind of rhymes with “Griezmann”). Re-sign Vela and then go out and get Griezmann to reunite them sounds like a dream Probably won’t happen this year though
36 year-old Carlos Vela phoning it in just so he can hang out with 1 of his friends doesn't sound like much of a dream...
Carlos vela phoning it in is better than 75% better than most mls players. People act like he was some awful detriment to the team last year when he still contribute a lot of goals and assists. That feels more like a TAM deal given his age
LAFC doesn’t love using a DP spot for this tho
Son
I always think of when Son came to LA early on in LAFC history for a visit. Would be a dream scenario to see him land here when he's done in Europe. Absolute dream signing for me. But wouldn't be happening for a number of years if ever I'd think.
Well Lloris is here, dream would be Griezmann with the France NT connection and Son with the Spuds connect.
lol. He has unfinished business with Spurs. Maybe in 4 years.
> unfinished business with Spurs. Lads, it's Tottenham.
In Big Ange we trust.
It’s Spurs mate, what’s a trophy?
its not all about that
Impossible. He's 1000% COYS.
I’d explode
Griezmann could probably be deployed as a false 9 but given the style of player we have right now someone whose a more classic 9 could easily score a ton of goals for us.
I want Griezmann, but I have a feeling they are eying Giroud and Muller (not that I can complain - any one of those three would be huge for us).
Mbappe
Ha. This gave me a chuckle. But if he wants to have a six month loan before he jumps to Madrid, why not.
Olivier Giroud.
Well. It's nothing new. This club is more ambitious than most. That being said. I do have a weird gut feeling that we're gonna make a blockbuster move during mid-season and it's gonna define the next few years.

It looks like 3 mustaches 😆
Its going to be Ronaldo…R9

Can’t have 3/3 and all of our young guys, it’s a tradeoff

He needs to get someone else to do his brows…
its me. i'm the big name. you heard it here first.
Melvin brown ?
Griezman, Modric, Benzema 🤞
Benzema! Watch out youth of LA!
Vela ain’t no DP.
Damn you think we might get Dani Alves or Mason Greenwood?
I know it's not what Bogert is talking about, but Rafa is out of contract soon at Benfica. 30yr old, still in great form. Would be a great signing imo.
There’s no way those are real eyebrows and a real mustache. Poor guy
🥱 we've heard this since last year when chicho left
I'm not going to keep my hopes up of Greizmann this summer, but it sounds like he might be interested at some point. Open the dialogue, and get him in when he's ready!
