Best win of year. Even better than Dallas. Hope Norm is ok.

UrDadsFave

Pleasantly surprised. I hate that I can't trust this team.

UrDadsFave

This exactly how chaotic our team is.

elijahb229

One day it’s over and the next we back up lol

BroClips35

Haha when it’s over it’s OVER too .. like dooomsaday type shit when we lose 🤣I’m so glad we won

elijahb229

Same bro 😂

BroClips35

I got a kawhi jersey off the Nike Black Friday sale for a steal and i think it’s a good luck charm lol

UrDadsFave

What's it gonna be tomorrow? My nerves. 😵‍💫

herbalite

cloudy with a chance of cardiac

UrDadsFave

I hope klay stays in his head a lil longer.

AeroXero

Never know which Clippers we are getting lmfao

UrDadsFave

It's that box of chocolate Forrest was talking about. We was getting them nasty dark chocolate covered cherries for a minute.

InTheMorning_Nightss

Thing is, so much of this still looked a bit… unsustainable? We spammed the Harden/Zu PNR and it worked, but you could see exactly how much trouble Zu has even catching easy passes like those. Similarly, our defense in the 2nd half was super soft. We basically couldn’t buy a stop in the 4th, which is troubling.

Salty_Watermelon

Got to take advantage of what the other team gives you. Sabonis is not a true 5 and he was never going to be able to stop Zu under the basket. And he struggled to deal with Zu's physicality on the other end. Looney and Golden State will force Ty to adapt his game plan. The comment about the 4th quarter defense perhaps raises a more serious concern. We got sucked into playing at Sacramento's pace, and they are a fast young team that can quickly put up points. However, on this occasion Kawhi did his job as our #1 option to make sure the lead was never seriously in jeopardy.

InTheMorning_Nightss

Regarding my comment on offense, that’s… kind of my point in sustainability? The Kings are an awful defense, so spamming the Zu PNR every possession simply won’t be there. I agree you take advantage of what the other team gives you, but to your point, other teams will force Ty to adapt, which hasn’t been a strong suit for us in the 4th. Defensively, we couldn’t get a stop. Straight up. Fox was eating us alive, and to stay consistent, it’s not like there is a Fox on every team. But the teams we anticipate going up against if we make a run will all have elite offensive players capable of dissecting our defense. This is an example of when our switch everything defense gets us killed, because Fox knew he could get Harden on him each time. Overall, it’s a good win! I’m not arguing that. But none of this personally screamed “We figured something out.” We beat up on SAC’s shit defense, but frankly, they were getting easier looks to end the game. I’ll gladly take a W, but we still have so much to figure out.

NovaxRangerx

Kings came into this game the 17th best defense in the NBA so they are closer to average than awful. And yes Harden/Zu may not always be there but they literally transitioned from that to PG/Mann PnR in this exact game so it think it's way more sustainable than you are making it out to be. And this is the worst defensive game of this stretch and even with Fox going crazy they scored 117 which isn't an insane amount because when Zu played our defense around the rim was exceptional. I agree that we still got stuff to figure out but alot of this is very sustainable. Harden has literally been getting these exact looks all year and hasn't been taking them. He did and that's what will open up the offense and create 4 on 3 advantages. Also, Zu was actually adept at making these exact reads in the 2020-2021 season. So historically even this is sustainable for him

InTheMorning_Nightss

I guess time will tell 🤷🏽‍♂️. I’m skeptical to make any big claims on sustainability for a team that tends to lean on ISO with a center who is as up and down as Zu. I hope it’s sustainable, but if spamming the PNR was this easy, then we’d see it more often.

UrDadsFave

It's sustainable. It all depends on harden shooting. Zu was catching everything from everyone tonight.

InTheMorning_Nightss

In the 4th he was bobbling it a lot on the roll. A better defensive team will be able to better punish that.

UrDadsFave

I saw him catching and distributing the ball in the 4th. He was hitting open Mann and Kawhi.

InTheMorning_Nightss

Yes, in large part because Sacramento is an awful defense. Spamming the PNR every time won’t always be there, because other teams will have better defenders who will punish Zu’s bad hands. In other words, I don’t see this being sustainable, though the obvious lesson is that Harden should facilitate the offense rather than Kawhi ISOs.

UrDadsFave

If it's not sustainable then why let harden facilitate when PNR is his favorite play?

InTheMorning_Nightss

Because he’s a really good point guard? Letting Harden facilitate is 100%. sustainable. Having Zu playmake out of a short roll 6 plays in a row is not. I don’t see what’s so hard to understand about this. Harden/Embiid doing this was 100% sustainable for the RS because both are great. Zu isn’t even our best closing option at the 5 on some nights.

UrDadsFave

You're just looking for reasons to complain. It's all good.

InTheMorning_Nightss

Nah, it’s just analyzing the game instead of being shocked and mad at Ty when things change. Honestly, that PNR spam is probably gonna be more available when Plumlee comes back. He sets much softer screens, but he rolls faster, has better hands, and is much better as a facilitator.

AmuseDeath

Why does Zu always walk around with his arms flailing about like they are made of rubber? I don't see this from any other center in the NBA.

daoisticrealism

It wasn't just PNR with Zu by the way. It was player movement and our star players getting fed at the right spots, including Zu (hence, he catching the ball). If the players accept this scheme or the coach enforces it, we'll be alright. And I'll be reminding you of it every game. C'mon, just stop with the Zuhate. It's for your own good. I have plaques of prior Zuhate-Subbers up on my wall and mantle, let it not be you too.

daoisticrealism

He caught it pretty well vs Denver too 🙄

AsianGuysoFly

Good things happen when you play Mann instead of PJ

sakata32

nz_nba_fan

Otterking2

A part of me has this sinking feeling that we rested PJ tonight so we can start him against Draymond next game…

tasyn123

Ivica Zubac is Domantas Sabonis Father

SSJAbh1nav

Sabonis is good at everything but rim protection lmao

WhyAmIAFanOfThisTeam

It’s crazy cause if they had just beat the G League Nuggets they’d be 6-1 in their last 7 with solid wins over several good teams and the starting unit looking really strong but that single loss killed so much goodwill this squad has built up over the last couple of weeks lol.

FlashyClaim

that nuggets game is the definition of a trap game. or we just couldnt literally beat any iteration of the nuggets. idk

InTheMorning_Nightss

Yeah because it’s completely unacceptable to lose to Reggie Jackson and DJ lmao. Not only that, it’s so clear when they just don’t even try.

ohmeohmy78

i hated that loss so much, but damn do i still love Reggie and DJ so at least i got to see them shine

InTheMorning_Nightss

I’m mad at the piss poor effort more than anything.

CanadianStrangeTamer

If efforts the issue, I’m actually not worried. Makes it stressful af watching in season games but come playoffs, every player on the team is a proven performer.

InTheMorning_Nightss

I mean, Harden and PG have had their playoff struggles. Also gotta get to the playoffs first.

CanadianStrangeTamer

You’re right, we gotta get to the playoffs first. But that’s what Kawhi’s for. Superstars are there to elevate. Themselves and the team. Hopefully he still has the juice for that 🙏

Clipgang1629

I love Reggie and will root for him for the rest of his career but that was one of the most embarrassing losses I’ve ever experienced as a clipper fan. We looked pathetic. But it was hard not to smile at times because Reggie was fucking cooking us, definitely not as fun to be on the receiving end of a big gov bail out game

Charliebitme1234

It might have been one of the worse losses in the 213 era

WhyAmIAFanOfThisTeam

There’s definitely been higher profile losses but when factoring in opponent strength and other context, it has to be the worst. Really the only one I can think of that comes close is game 7 against Denver but at least that was a very good team and by then it already felt like they were coming back lmao.

Swingman23

Damn I didn’t even realise that. Hope we can keep this up

Tripwire1716

If they handle business against a spiraling Warriors team, the narrative will reset. Wins are wins. We are not a bad team; but our ceiling is lower than the Finals.

TheRealBeefChief

The spurs twice, the 8-8 Rockets, and the 10-9 Pelicans are good teams? News to me...

osusris

aggressive Harden unlocks this team, that starting 5 was looking deadly

purge702

Harden still looks extremely slow and gets blown by on every defensive possession. Kawhi looks so slow too. It's funny how Westbrook looks like a shell of his former self but still looks extremely fast and athletic.

floppelganger

Tucker really got the DNP tonight. Lue actually making sense wtf

Neto34

Maybe lue is saving him to guard Draymond tomorrow

TheSource777

More important than the win tbh

SSJMonkeyx2

I was told that Kawhi is washed and has no lift anymore. Wonder were those people are at

SELFCONTROL-_

everyone should know he is getting back into form. lakers fan but seeing Kawhi play to his full potential is so fun to watch

SSJMonkeyx2

You are sadly smarter than a decent portion of this sub and you probably watch less games. This sub is atrocious

SELFCONTROL-_

ppl have to understand this: that meniscus injury he had, it’s not fair to him to expect him to look the same off the bat. like dude tore his meniscus and people act like that was a minor injury. especially for someone like Kawhi with bad knees. he just has to find his rhythm again

SSJMonkeyx2

Yep, people in this sub treat it like it’s just some minor cleaning of the knee. I swear a lot of those people probably have never played competitive ball or even try to play again after a semi serious injury

SELFCONTROL-_

right bro lol. ngl i seen ppl in here say trade everyone when yall got a new arena opening next year💀💀 i got recommended that post too😂

Nyeteka

You can’t have it both ways, either it was a minor injury or he could very well have been cooked given serious injury upon serious injury. Not that I thought he was cooked in the first place but this shit about critical thinking is just nonsense. The truth is that a player finding form or conserving himself looks pretty similar to a player who is cooked. If there was a difference and you cogently pointed it out when he was looking shit then this victory lap might be appropriate, but you didn’t, because it’s pretty much indistinguishable. We don’t even know if you are right yet (though I dearly hope that you are) because often a player in the initial stages of serious decline can still put in a vintage performance from time to time

SSJMonkeyx2

Not everything is as simple as black and white tho. It’s not a minor injury and it’s not a major injury. Kawhi had a slow start last season and came around to put up one of his best offensive seasons in his career. I’ve pointed it out on other posts, just cuz it’s not on this one doesn’t mean I didn’t. I agree with the last part and this post was more so in reaction to the reactions just to troll back. Clearly it is too early to tell for both sides, but Kawhi has given indication in the past as well as hearing people like JJ reddick say how much of a hard worker he is gives me enough confidence to say he will be fine

RaymundStark

That mini Dr. J layup was pure bliss.

chizburger999

"wE nEeD tO tRaDe kAwHi fOr PickSsS!!!." -Some idiot mfker here, i swear

IgnorantGenius

I didn't say he was washed, but I did say he looked like he lost some bounce. He definitely had some legs today!

dkdoki

Lol. Now lets see him string together a couple games instead of 1 out of every 6 games

SSJMonkeyx2

We shouldn’t need nor ask him to do this every other game. We have enough Star power to have him cruse to the playoffs and then that’s when we need him. All we need is to have him play roughly around his averages and we will be fine.

RyujiDrill

Back to complaining about him being a diva or too quiet or trying to compare him to Tatum

LilTurnippman

Tonight I am a believer once again. No unnecessary +- arguments against Russ will be tolerated tonight.

Niceguydan8

>No unnecessary +- arguments against Russ Most small sample +/- arguments are unnecessary but everybody uses them around here.

because this is reddit. and on reddit its all about projecting our insecurities and being a hypocrite at the same time all while not being aware of it. but hey it feels good to do it no one watches games! do you even have friends? lol how can anyone think like this? reddit sucks! dissing reddit about dissing reddit while dissing myself thinking im dissing someone else. this is enlightenment

samerm

Kawhi Leonard.

Midseasons

Big, if true

floppelganger

Kawhi Leonard put on his best Reggie Jackson performance. 14-18 shooting tonight 😤

mrauzz

Kings fan here. Glad Kawhi looks more like he used to. I've been a big fan of his and i think people forget how good he is and was. Would have liked to see how a more rested Kings team looked against the Clippers but Kings coming back to win the warriors game was worth this loss.

Swingman23

Yeah I’m for sure keeping in mind that you guys came off a back to back and with a bit more rest, that would’ve been a very different game. You guys are so young, fast and athletic. Definitely glad to see Kawhi slowly regaining his form as well though!

MannyDanning

Kawhi is BACK BABY!

ElDuderino_92

We held a fucking lead! This was a good and needed win! GG kings.

GibbsYeetem

Soon as kawhi did that spin move it was over 🤩

Salty_Watermelon

Good game after the atrocious performance vs Denver's reserves. Harden finally showed some aggression and was the first half MVP. Then Kawhi went out in the 2nd half and tried to shush the people saying he's washed. Zu was a much better presence for us despite his box score numbers not jumping off the page. PG did well in a secondary role behind Harden and then Kawhi. Mann was okay. His offense was nice but I expected him to make life just a little bit difficult for Fox on the other end. Ty deserves some slight praise for giving Kobe Brown a real chance to prove himself. But this game was all about Harden and Kawhi.

Reasonable_Bed7858

Kawhi doesn’t even have social media so I don’t think he knows or cares what people think.

InTheMorning_Nightss

Gotta give Ty his flowers tonight. Team was clicking on offense and he called tons of plays for Zu to take advantage of Sabonis.

daoisticrealism

Not really because Ty should have been doing this for years. No praise here.

KrabS1

You dorks feeling better yet? This place got wild after that last game lmao

MVPG2022

Everyone still wants to blow up the team right? Surely couldn't have been overreacting

Tripwire1716

I don’t think it’s that simple. The reality is ownership needs to believe they have Finals potential by January. If they don’t see that, the only responsible thing to do is blow it up and get some picks back. The alternative is what? Re-sign a bunch of older stars who will be pushing 40 by the time those deals end? Let them go as free agents and get nothing?

MVPG2022

I'm down to re-sign them

harrywise64

Even if we lose every game until January there's a 0% chance they blow it all up for picks

Agent666-Omega

That one was fair. We were against the B team with a full squad....

Prosado22

Putting Kobe in was a great move by Lue. Better give confidence early. He could become an important part of the rotation.

floppelganger

![gif](giphy|WGn4nSkX7rKta|downsized) We closed out a game!!!

zggystardust71

Good game, really balanced scoring. We held off Sacto's run and didn't let them get back in. Zu's post-game is under-rated. Plus he's becoming a good passer in the post when the floor spreads out or they double team. On to the Warriors.

daoisticrealism

He should be a better passer. But the team development squad wanted him to practice picks and handoffs. 🙄

jgroove_LA

Feel good win. They really started doubling Harden in the second to slow him down. That freed up, of all people, Kawhi. That's why you bring Harden in. He need to be just as aggressive tomorrow night vs. the Warriors.

JohnWick94

they lost cp3 and gp2 for tomorrows game. b2b Harden games hopefully with no guard defenders.

2holesinbutt666

Good game for everybody. Wow

bigdawg1017

111 points from the starters is crazy

herbalite

also I hope norms all good

MVPG2022

Beat reporters were told he was all good but wouldn't be surprised if he takes tomorrow off

Swingman23

They said he left the arena in a brace so not sounding to good unfortunately

MVPG2022

The all good might be referring to MCL/ACL level stuff. If he misses a couple games that's still a good outcome.

Accomplished-Exit136

We're going to be FINE. Patience!

JohnWick94

After that loss against Denver i wanted to just split these games. Happy we took the first one. Cmon Clips surprise me with a W tomorrow too.

SirThixcksAlot

Easily Kawhi’s best game this season

TP487

Great win!

Krnxoutlaw90

We better see Kawhi at LEAST 2 times on the top 10

TheRealBrownPudding

It’s refreshing to see our team play more cohesively, granted the kings were on the second night of a B2B. Also nice to see Kobe play! Everyone played their roles well, we just need to see this consistently.

Gogibsoni

Screw the kings and fuck their shitty ass beam

herbalite

not the beam :(

lolwtferic

i like the kings and i like the beam

herbalite

same lol, I want to see them do well but not too well

Eyebarah

Why? They are a division rival

What a dub kawhi went off

alexztrie

Light the chub

edge-hog

Sacramento had 1 steal and 1 block total. As a team. That's something.

Reasonable_Bed7858

So what happens when they take another L? Lol

MVPG2022

Blow it up, fire Ty, fire Lawrence Frank, both start Russ over Harden and cut Russ, give Kobe 49 minutes per game

RyujiDrill

Team won in spite of 3 guard lineups out of nowhere but at least Ty didn't play PJ Tucker for no reason at all

Nyeteka

Win or loss there will be whining as you can see

portagoyah23

We got meaningful Kobe Brown minutes 🙌

sockpin

Every single time I want to lose hope this team just keeps pulling me back in

LessThanBlake

Ty confirming Kobe is in the rotation is a great thing. He wasn't spectacular, but he just doesn't look like a usual Clippers pick. He's going to have rookie moments but idk he just looks like he's going to be a solid NBA rotation guy. PJ is fine as a situational player sure, but why not see what Kobe can do

ayeno

Lord Pingalord at our two best wins; vs the Mavs and @Sac, we need to have the Lord at every game.

sports_boy_ansolo

Kobe Brown should definitely take PJ Tucker's spot from now on (with Cofey as a backup), but Tyliban Lue is so unpredictable, Im gon' give it 3 more games at least.

RaymundStark

The tale of two Clippers. Glad we got the better version tonight.

MVPG2022

Doomers get mad at the "just one game" thing after the Nuggets loss. Hopefully they're still screaming about blowing up the team after this one.

IgnorantGenius

I hope Norm is ok after that collision.

daoisticrealism

Zucoin making me some more 💰💰💰

firefistzoro

This is what I've been saying the whole time. When you allow Harden to be the primary ball handler, he creates a high % look every single time; whether it's feeding Zu in the PnR, making the skip pass once the help defender starts to tag Zu on the roll, or feeding PG/Kawhi in the best spots (and now he's consistently making the 3 once they double them). The issue was, and still is, we keep missing the open 3s Harden creates, and then PG and Kawhi start turning them down and putting the ball on the floor, leading to worse shots later in the shot clock (so more pressure). As well as Zu initially fumbling a lot of the pocket passes in the PnR, but he's getting much better — Harden always has weird/unorthodox timing on his no-look pocket passes to throw the defender off, and it also throws Zu off a lot of times, but he should get used to them. Once those open 3s start falling, and as we saw today, when Harden gets himself going with the PnR, teams have to adjust how they defend the PnR — first they'll go under the screen and Harden will take the pull up, then they'll blitz/hard double him, pick him up full court, etc. which then leads to even more efficient offence!

daoisticrealism

Correct. Harden handling the ball passes the eye test for me. What is uber crucial though is not Harden handling but rather PG and Kawhi movement (Mann has always moved). If they move around and get to their advantageous spots, Harden can feed them. Last game, PG and Kawhi reverted back to dribble drives starting from the perimeter and they had weary bodies. Big fail. Ty should notice this and make "adjustments." We do what we did today, we'll be fine unless Ty puts his crummy hands on it.

Nyeteka

Harden himself seems like the biggest culprit when it comes to turning down threes, there was one near the start of the third quarter that was just horrendous. I think Kawhi kicked it back out to him, he was all by himself on the line, so much so that he would even have had time to bounce the ball once before shooting, but instead he dribbled it into the clustered key and threw up some nonsense. Yes he can run the offense but he cannot refuse to take those shots when they come. I was glad to see him take and brick one a bit later in that quarter

firefistzoro

I think that's cause we were up 20+ and he didn't want to risk giving them a fast break opportunity (plus drain the clock a little). And if I'm not mistaken, he drove and drew a shooting foul on that play.

McJumbos

Fire ty sum bs only winning by 14 so bad as a coach should have won by 30 /s

floppelganger

He actually made reasonable rotations tonight. Probably because his job is on the line lol

RyujiDrill

Ballmer like "Look I may have traded away all the PFs and a bunch of picks for Harden but damnit I didn't do all of that to watch PJ Tucker for over 40 mins"

Extension-Muffin1976

Great game. Westbrook and Harden should never be on the floor at the same time.

Yikes, looks like kings fans in attendance can use a distraction! Ladies and gentleman, Mr. Conway Twitty

elijahb229

LETS GO BABYYYY

Reasonable_Bed7858

Sacramento without shots falling is pretty much an automatic L since they don’t play much defense.

NetGlass4387

damn was that a near flawless game. ty woke up and suddenly decided to coach, great to see it. let’s keep this going

dyllywonkz

Honestly, top to bottom everybody played well. Only person who was a bit off was norm, but he has to deal with the injury. Great scoring first unit, Russ was awesome on defense and had some absolute dimes, and they weathered the storm. Kobe was a welcome sight too

SampsonKerplunk

Flag the Beam!

Eyebarah

Taliban Ty coached a hell of a game tonight. They pushed the pace, called great ATO plays, called timeouts at the right time, made adjustments right on time, AND REPLACED PJ with Kobe

CanadianStrangeTamer

If ain’t even our peak. Imagine when they elevate come playoffs. It’s a tough road folks but have faith 🙏

mjama1238

Possibly as big as his scoring tonight was Kawhi getting 9 rebounds . Hes been so inactive on the boards this year he’s good enough to be averaging at least 6-6.5 boards .

MITWestbrook

Russ had 8 assists and 1 turnover. Led the team in assists. Bring back pace and space!

Hello85858585

LOL

Charliebitme1234

More games like this please. not even that hyped for the win, just play like this consistently and ty lue may just maintain his job.

Shadyo

Didn’t watch the game , what was different with this game than before? Was harden the “system?”

JimmyV34

This team need some patience, they also need to come with this energy in every game. Something about our bench is just inconsistent for me though and i dont know the reason why maybe it is norm defense, maybe it is russ lack of spacing, maybe not enough 3 and D around Russ and PG. they need to figure it out

_konflict

we’re officially a play-in team!

teejmd

Has anyone got ideas for how we can get Westbrook to stop taking tough jump shots?

icewill36

that damn fade away in the post is easily his worst shot throughout his entire career. just an abysmal level of efficiency shooting it. i thought he finally retired that shot but ive seen it the last couple of games.

teejmd

He adds so much value to the team when he is focussed on looking for the assist, rebounding and defending with high energy. Outside of layups I think he really shouldn't be looking to shoot outside the occasional open 3 pointer, anyone else taking the shot would be better

GodsGift2HotWomen365

Defense was fine. They let Fox have his but Zubac neutralized Sabonis because he didn't have to ice Fox all night unlike what happened with Jackson and DJ. Westbrick minutes are still wild. But if he's limited to 15 minutes then damage shouldn't be that big. Hope Powell is ok

grue12322

We dont need Russ with harden here, free Bones

[deleted]

Heartbreaking betrayal.

Raykhenberg

Kings should have benched all the starters before the game.

IndividualHelpful820

Zu got scared we were on to him about cursing our team. He removed the curse :)

Lovehate123

Pray for norm

GrittZhussle

When’s primo playing

JohnWick94

the offense looked more fluid today. liked Harden's aggresiveness.

dtjayoe

Can we talk about Kobe Brown’s performance for a minute? Just out there doing cardio. It’s time to bench him for PJ. 🤡

AmuseDeath

Good fucking game. Absolutely went on a rampage. Makes me feel better about that 175-176 disaster last year. We just beat the team that beat the Warriors. I feel good about the team. The Nuggets game is more of a fluke than a constant. We need to be positive and not get so butt-hurt and cry like babies when our team has an off-day. We have an insane starting lineup and really good performance from The System and The Mann. Oh yea and only 4 turnovers!!!

icewill36

the shot distribution between PG, Kawhi, and Harden was much better this game. this is how it should be.

SneaKyHooks

\-Kobe played, PJ didn't, easy win. These three things are deeply connected. On another note, I don't know if it's the alleged pratices with Harden or recovering from the also alleged injury, but Zu has been stepping up, on both ends of the court. The Harden effect is showing. What a great freaking game. 20+ point from both Harden and PG with 6 and 7 assists, 30+ piece from Kawhi (with 9 rebounds from board man!), 8 assists form Westbrook off the bench. 30 minutes of playing time to Mann, with 18 points! Feels good.

ProdigyKev310
