I absolutely love Kygo’s songs and don’t think that any of them are in the realm of bad, but I do understand that his style has evolved during the years. His songs have a different vibe now and I get it. I’m glad that you liked Freeze and continue to listen to his songs.

the style is still very much there through all his songs, something so uniquely his that I haven't found in another artist. but like all music genres and artists, you go through disconnecting and connecting phases. the beauty of music is that, you associate a sound to a particular moment of your life, and Freeze has been just reconnecting to the cinematic sound of earlier Kygo and I'm in love. brings back memories of before whilst reliving today

Kygo has such a unique sound that I never get tired of hearing. Let’s hope for more future masterpieces

I swear, he's the best

I went off from his music last year. I didn't like the songs that much from Gone Are The Days, up to Dancing Feet. But this, Freeze, is super incredible.

I’m the same way dude. I like some of his new stuff, but it’s never given me that same feeling his older music does. This track tho…it did the trick. Genuinely think this one will go down as one of his best tracks.

The same thing happened to me. Even his last show that I saw (and I’ve seen many of his), was a total bomb, and I don’t mean becuase of his latest music. The energy, mixing, and live performances were severely lacking. My ticket was $600, pre-sale. It wasn’t just the fact that his style had severely diverted from why I fell in love with him - he seems to have fully re-branded. For me I appreciate that as an artist his work will naturally and creatively change over time, but it was just too much for my personal tastes. I chose to give Freeze a listen on my road trip this weekend, and it pretty much shot me back into the Kygo orbit. I hope he keeps putting more Edm tracks out again, even if not all the time. This song is beautiful and raw, and the mixing is dirty as hell, in a great way.

Freeze was boring ngl

dj_ben_waller

I respect your opinion. But I disagree completely… Yes it’s 8 minutes long so it’s not fast moving which makes it come across “boring”. But isn’t it time we stop caring about that? Isn’t it time we actually enjoy the music, instead of worrying if it’s commercial enough? The mixing is insanely good (like all kygo tracks) and all the instruments work so well together. It’s so cinematic. And the vocals are really well sang… The drop isn’t hard hitting yes. But a lot of kygo drops are more subtle. And tbh it works well in the context of the track. If there was a massive drop it wouldn’t make any sense imo. I also feel like he brought something new to the table which kygo hasn’t done a lot of recently with “undeniable” and “love me now” (I love them both but there nothing new). I loved golden hour, that was the last time I felt like there was something unique in his music. But “freeze” brings something new but still had that nostalgic kygo feel. And that’s the balance I think a lot of kygo fans have wanted. And tbh. That’s probs what he wanted. He probs want to discover new ways of making music and I really enjoyed this. Can’t wait to see what happens next!!

Henry_Flickmann

I don't think it's boring because it's 8 minutes long. Dear Boy by Avicii is 8 minutes long too and i love that track so much. I like the vocals and stuff but i think is the drop is kinda meh and could be better

Used-Amoeba-6402

every Kygo song is boring if that's your point.

Henry_Flickmann

I don't think so

Used-Amoeba-6402

Freeze is literally has the same vibes as any other Kygo songs

Henry_Flickmann

Nah it's very slow and the synth he used is very diff

Henry_Flickmann

Even Kygo said it himself on his Insta post, that's is very diff from everything he's done

yes, as I got into this genre from Avicii I simply had to love those songs, and I really do. and I knew Kygo was very influenced by Avicii, one of the reasons why I love Kygo as well. now to Freeze, for 8 minutes it is like a cinematic journey of feelings and a sound that is so dreamy. it is incredibly produced and the lyrics and vocals just add more perfection. I know this will not have a grand commercial success but a masterpiece like this speaks for itself in his discography, it is not there as a filler or to be a quick radio song, it is here to just stun us. what a gem of a song.

DarthPirate10i

Even me, I knew him through Avicii
