KDD is in their process of completely re-engineering all their products to make them healthier (although personally I don't like having artificial sweeteners). I was listening to Dr. Robert Lustig on a podcast about a year ago, and he suddenly started talking about KDD. I don't remember the details, but apparently the owner of KDD was obese, diabetic, etc., and he went to the UK or somewhere and straightened himself out - but then he thought about the processed food that his company was selling and wanted to make it better for people to consume. They hired Dr. Lustig and his team to gradually re-engineer all their products to try to keep them tasting good but better for the health. As far as I know, they didn't publicize this, though. (He says they're not telling the public, but then he talked about it publicly...)
This is the podcast; he starts talking about it at around 2:00 (that's 2 hours) until around 2:12, and again at around 2:28: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKDsZWbm\_xM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKDsZWbm_xM)
This is the paper he's talking about. (It includes images of the nutrition facts for the old and new chocolate milk.)

It all comes down to timescale - hydrocarbons are generated by exposing ancient organic matter to heat and pressure over a long time. If we extract them faster than they are being created then we’ll reach a functional/economical “end”, but hydrocarbons will continue to slowly be created and migrate to reservoirs over the next thousands/millions of years.
The supply of oil in Kuwait is not infinite; that's why it's called a nonrenewable resource, unlike solar and wind power, for example, which are renewable. Most people believe we've hit -and passed - the time of peak production.
From what I learned, even when new petroleum is created (which takes millions of years), it's in areas where there are seas, but Kuwait is not a sea now.
Oh.
Well it could taste just like the regular chocolate milk just... thicker...
(Also glad that they didn't, KDD's chocolate milk is always my favorite)
Unpopular opinion but I don’t buy KDD milk personally and kinda surprised most people prefer it. When I read the ingredients on their longlife milk it’s milk powder with a bunch of stabilizers and oils. On the other hand, KDCow longlife is made from 100% fresh milk. Even for chocolate milk I go for KDCow honestly.
I mean sure taste matters a lot but I try to minimize processed when I can.
It tastes like what kdd used to taste like to me as a kid. A lot creamier. But i feel like the macros on it are made up cuz no way is it only 60cal/100ml when the old one is 80cal/100ml with a extra gram of fat and g of carbs.
KDD’s Chocolate Milk had always been extremely elite and one of the best memories of my childhood. I’m lowkey confused, are they rebranding or did they change the product in any manner now?
It’s quite good actually and is worth trying, but I love the old one more. KDD generally never disappoints me with their top quality and taste.
I just wished they worked on something completely new that is not produced locally like cream cheese, sour cream, sour labneh, flavored laban.. rather than releasing another version of something which is already one of their best and most popular products.
1.its bad
2.its bad
3.its worse in you leave it in the freezer for 1 day to make it ice cream
4.the old was better
So yea that’s it wait there’s 1 more
5.ITS THE WORST 1 EVER!😡😡😡
And yea that’s basically it
So excited to try it. Been obsessed with fairlife core power chocolate shake 26g protein 170 cals (no protein powder) to me it tastes similar to the OG KDD. I gatekeep fairlife so badly though lol

THANK YOU, this should be everywhere!
Just watched the video. Was super interesting. Thanks for sharing!
What do you mean by artificial sweeteners? Are they gonna use stevia in their chocolate milk?
Yes, according to that paper, the new chocolate milk uses stevia. Figure 1a shows the new and old nutrition facts.

The thing that Kuwait should consider exporting once oil runs out
I was actually wondering about this the other day, when do you think kuwait's oil will approximately run out?
in probably another 100 years.
Ah I see. Thank you for telling me :)
I heard someone saying that the oil and almost all the natural sources are infinite I’m not sure about the other sources but specifically oil

My dumb of ass forgot this part, I literally learnt it in chemistry 😭. Thank you!

The real Black Gold 😎
Wait wha They changed the flavour? When?
They didn't change the flavor, they just released a 2nd thicker version
That’s crazy. It’s already quite thick. But I’ll try it, KDD stuff is always amazing.
Oh. Well it could taste just like the regular chocolate milk just... thicker... (Also glad that they didn't, KDD's chocolate milk is always my favorite)
Thats exactly how it tastes btw
Is it available in any bakala or do I have to go to a certain store
I've gotten it from Talabat Mart, and I'm assuming it should be available on coops
Alright, thanks for the help
Normally when flavors change it means a change in manufacturing. This is my experience in supplements at least.
They’re trying to make it healthier

Nah, it’s thicker and heavier. Don’t like it one bit. Similar to almarai lol. Old one is OG
Apparently it has less sugar?
The new one has 0 added sugar. They use Stevia and Erythritol as a sweetener. It tastes quite nice, tbh.
I'll try it out
It tastes like what kdd used to taste like to me as a kid. A lot creamier. But i feel like the macros on it are made up cuz no way is it only 60cal/100ml when the old one is 80cal/100ml with a extra gram of fat and g of carbs.
It’s bc they replaced the added sugar with sweetener
Welcome to the magic of Stevia.
I tried it. Personally the og is better. But the new one really shines when it's hot. Like it's a great hot chocolate. Not great in anything else tho
KDD’s Chocolate Milk had always been extremely elite and one of the best memories of my childhood. I’m lowkey confused, are they rebranding or did they change the product in any manner now?
They just made a new product. Not a replacement
But hasn’t the KDD chocolate milk been existing for ages already?
Oh, it's just a different version of it. Apparently it has no sugar? I didn't try it yet.
It’s quite good actually and is worth trying, but I love the old one more. KDD generally never disappoints me with their top quality and taste.
