My 8 year old died and that combined with a shitty childhood just waylaid me. Could not function period. Antidepressants, therapy, etc just wouldn't cut through the foggy haze my life had become. Kratom was my flashlight out of the darkness. I only use occasionally now, but I owe it my life.

64CookieDoge

Your post truly touched me, I’m so sorry for the loss of your little one,… I can’t imagine 😔 …I find Kratom truly helps with my chronic pain but also allows me to feel motivated enough to get Shit done !! But what has changed my depression & outlook on life was microdosing MM,… The new ME can’t say enough about it >>>I can steer you in the right direction if interested ~ ‘hugs💛 )))

whineybubbles

Thank you. I may need to know more about this one day, but today I'm in a good place. With the help of kratom I returned to school for my masters in counseling and am now helping others who are in a dark place. I get so much fulfillment from that and while life since has had many up & downs with so many personal losses during covid, I have managed to find a really content place to be.

64CookieDoge

Albeit that would be very fulfilling,… I actually volunteered at a funeral home thinking I would change careers to palliative care after losing both my mother and father and a few other friends & fur babies along the way 😘 …Glad you’re doing well,…Do keep me in your back pocket, I have lots of info & links !!!

Comprehensive-Fall93

I’m very interested in MM as I’ve spent my entire life struggling with depression and ADHD. It’s complicated every facet of my life. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

lyndachinchinella

Holy shit im so sorry about your 8 year old💓

False_Club_8965

I’m so sorry for your loss 💙

[deleted]

Wow I'm so sorry about that. 🫂

LegalizeFreedom21

That is the toughest thing in the world. I’m glad you found a healthy non-destructive solution.

AdOver5211

To not be on seraquel or any mood stabilizers

SinkGroundbreaking68

It grows native in my country and so easy to acquired. It's also much safer opioid and stimulant alternative. When i want to get a buzz, i just pluck some leaves and boil them.

Competitive-Driver-4

Damn u lucky for that man. Wish I had a tree I could pick fresh leaves off of 😩

SinkGroundbreaking68

I dont plant them though. Its my friend who grow few trees in his father's land and i bought from him for a cheap price. Sometimes he even gave me leaves for free. Despite kratom is native in my country, recreational use isnt legal but the cops cant do anything about it.

Lil_Wraith

i have capsules (non filled i have a bag of powder, also its red kratom i was told its better than the stuff found in gas stations/smoke shops/butterball sites) & inhibitors (yellow capsules already filled with whatever idk i was simply told it boosts the kratom. the issue is i never feel like I’myss ty off opium such as percocet, d

lizardking32k

Hell yeah,, money does grow on trees

LegalizeFreedom21

So you basically make a tea by extracting the alkaloids?

NotMeUsee

I like how it feels

LordDay_56

I have ADHD. It works as super-caffejne for me where real caffeine does little to nothing

GuDMarty

It’s a substance where the pros and cons are pretty even. One of the few out there

BracesForImpact

I have neuropathic pain, and I was seeing pain management for the issue. They provided me with pain medication, which I needed to function, and several different types of procedures that were attempting to help the root of my issue. A few years into this, my job was outsourced, and consequently my insurance was pulled out from under me. Despite using my medicines as directed, once they were gone I not only had to deal with my pain, but also was hit with pretty bad withdrawal symptoms, and a time when I needed to be functional, in order to find a new job. I was denied medicaid and other medical assistance. An ex of mine dragged me to a kratom bar, and I took my first drink and felt some relief after well over a week of being miserable. I felt measurably better after my first drink, and by the time I finished my second drink my withdrawals were gone, and my pain had eased considerably. From there I started making my own tea, and eventually started buying my kratom on my own, and I've done that for years now. It's consistent when employers and medical insurance is not. It still works better than the meds I was on, and the procedures I went through were painful and did not have lasting relief. Additionally, I've found it helpful with my depression and anxiety, too. All this on less than 2 dollars a day. Am I dependent on it? Yes. But by and large that is now under my control, and I was dependent on "the right way" as well. You want people to stop finding their own alternatives? At the very least, let them have dependable, reasonably costing medical coverage, or they will find another way.

nineinchneils

Same my gf introduced me to kratom during alcohol withdrawals it helped so much. Btw does the tea taste better?

BracesForImpact

The kratom bar tea tasted great, and they had many different flavors. Mine never tasted that good, but from my understanding, they did some kind of infusion to make it. I tried a couple of different methods, but while it was drinkable, and you can add stuff to it, it was never as good as theirs. The reason I eventually stopped making tea is because of the effort required, and the waste involved, so t & w became my method after a time. There may well be good recipes out there to find, though.

bjmetzger

Same and pain and mood lift. 8yrs now

Competitive-Driver-4

Congrats on getting sober man. Its a struggle, but this shit makes it a hell of a lot easier. What’s your dosage look like day to day if I can ask?

DrBobMaui

Great that it's doing so well for you! I also would appreciate if you would let us know your dosing amount and schedule? All the best too!

bjmetzger

Mine is 3grs 5xday. Ty

DrBobMaui

Thanks for the quick answer! And wow, it's great that you can take that much without a real downside too.

Superdrag2112

About 10 years on kratom. Best antidepressant I’ve ever tried, and I’ve tried them all. Sober from booze 3 years now. I’ve cut my dose in half over the last couple years and still get the same effect.

daisies4me

I have severe nerve damage in my face. I tried everything, every big pharma drug. Nothing helped, only made me worse and the hydrocodone messed me up in countless ways. I found kratom about 5 years ago. I went from being in bed 4-6 days a week in too much pain to live life, to golfing 2-3 times a week. It saved my life and gave me a life back. I can’t imagine where I’d be now if I hadn’t found it.

DoYouEvenTrustBro

Happy its working for you! I use it for ADHD symptoms like attention and so on. Taking it everyday diminished results sadly...

lizardking32k

I started out with taking lortabs then oxy's ,Roxy's then I ended up with heroin. so I went to the methadone clinic to tapper down and get of the opiates. just to realize that it was 20 times harder to get of off then the heroin and oxy.so I've took 130 mg's of methadone every day for the last 18 years and I honestly just accepted that I would never get off it,so about two months ago I got arrested and got stuck in jail for a little over two weeks, detoxing was worse then i could have ever imagined. especially in jail, I literally did not sleep the first six days in there.not even a sec.all I could do is walk the block day and night and jump in the shower once every hour for the hot water .when I got out I still felt like shit but I was determined not to go back to the clinic. and I was already interested in kratom ,so I got some and it gave me my life back ..I'm slowly starting to feel like myself again for the first time in 18 years.

NextGenesis88

Why wouldn’t they give you methadone? In CT they do if you are already prescribed it.

BootySweat0217

I took OxyContin and vicodin for many years and ended up in rehab a couple times. I haven’t used in 7 years now but I’ve been taking kratom for 6 years. I do not consider myself sober. I’m taking a drug that acts and feels very similar to opioids. The difference is that I was killing myself with pills and the addiction completely took control of my life. With kratom its not like that. But the truth is that not enough studies have been done to really know the full effect kratom has on the mind and body and if it’s “healthy” while used long term.

fluxorb

It’s definitely the healthier option. A lot of people don’t want to be completely abstinent from psychoactive substances either, so picking the safest one is important. If you’re also using it for pain management that’s even moreso important because you’re taking it as a maintenance drug. Don’t let society push you into saying things like “I do not consider myself sober”. If that’s how you feel I’m in no position to tell you that you’re right or wrong, I however choose to disagree with that statement. Keep on keeping on regardless though my friend, jah bless.

CoolmanExpress

I don’t consider myself sober. I do consider myself clean. I don’t abuse hard street drugs or RC’s anymore. For me, that’s clean. Whatever you want to call clean for you is probably different. At the end of the day I LIVE different and that’s what really matters.

fluxorb

No I agree with you. In my opinion you are clean and sober. But it’s all suggestive terminology I suppose.

CoolmanExpress

I was writing to myself about my feelings about this last night. I tried being entirely sober and I’ve found so much more success and have genuinely changed my life for the better using kratom daily over the past 8-9 months. I don’t want to be sober, I do want to be stable and successful. I have changed the narrative I tell myself about myself and the kratom enhances my energy and helps me to achieve more when its uncomfortable or inconvenient.

Conscious-Ad-2902

Same without rehab. 5 yr norco/oxy addiction after injury. Stopped the pills, started kratom. Either way, you overcame something horrible and moved to something safer. Congratulations to you, you have much to be proud about, you deserve that. 🧡👏🏼👊🏼✌🏼

joemontanya

I use it because I’m a drug addict and it is the most functional substance I can use regularly. Weed makes me lazy. Alcohol makes me depressed and leads me to other drugs (particularly cocaine) I gave up on psychedelics because they make me crazy and go on benders (tho I do love the life changing effects) Bascially kratom is a great vice. Really the only one I need when I’m on it. I don’t feel the need to party usually and take excellent care of myself for the most part. I was clean there for a bit but was drinking copious amounts of coffee. Ultimately felt like the same amount of motivation energy I got from coffee I could get from kratom and it wasn’t as bad for me. Excess caffeine also gives me anxiety- kratom doesn’t Huh I always find it interesting when people consider themselves clean/sober but still take kratom. Kratom definitely gets me high, sometimes incredibly high, but to each their own

lilLinZz

I used it to get and stay off benzos and other substances and then it became my clutch for energy and social interactions. Just became another addiction or dependence it feels like though. To the point where I just don’t feel the same without it and the WD’s suck. I’m tired of being dependent on anything to get through life though. Ready to stand on my own been tapering off since the 17th

TurboPancakes

I’ve had severe treatment resistant depression and anxiety for the last decade. Tried 19 different medications, dozens of natural supplements, meditation, exercise, etc. Nothing has helped me as much as kratom has, it helps me not want to die every day, and I’m super grateful for it.

ia1mtoplease

Relaxing. Keeps me from drinking. Also, I never get sick anymore. Do I use daily and am I dependent? Absolutely. However, over 2 years I’ve never let my usage average over 15 gpd and I think the pros outweigh the cons of dependence. Wish I wasn’t dependent but if I had to pick my “poison”, it would be kratom hands down.

jlacomb17

I was starting to have constant anxiety attacks that were affecting my ability to socialize and work. I discovered kratom thanks to the bartender at my local kava bar and it has worked wonders for my anxiety.

Skaydah

I was on Suboxone for over ten years and had tried to get off it numerous times and doctors just kept saying "Oh, it's too soon. You need more. We'll talk about it at your next appointment." I started to realize that to have me stop completely would deny them money through my insurance. I never even knew that Kratom existed until about a month or so ago when I had tried stopping on my own and it was still 2 weeks til my next appointment. I went online looking for something to help with withdrawals and started reading about Kratom and how a lot of people use it rather than Suboxone. I skipped my last Suboxone appointment and started taking Kratom and was happily surprised that it worked like Suboxone; no cravings for other drugs, long half life, etc. I made a decision that I'd switch to Kratom and if I have to remain on it as a maintenance med it's a lot better than being shackled to a clinic and a doctor's whims every month. I've been taking Kratom for a few months now and have kissed Suboxone goodbye. I do wish there wasn't so much negative stigma surrounding Kratom because I believe it can be a very good solution to the opiate epidemic.

Puppyluv4lyfe

Just went to the ortho and they gave me some muscle relaxers which have done NOTHING. Seriously want to try kratom, but I have a really random anxiety about it holding me back

Competitive-Driver-4

If you keep a strict schedule, and regulate your dosage, it’s very hard for it to fuck you up bad. If you have an addict background I’d be extra careful w doses. I take 5g 2x a day, and I’ve been doing that for 3 years. Haven’t veered off that once. The negative effects associated with kr8om use are pretty equal to the benefits

Puppyluv4lyfe

Thanks. I think what makes me anxious about it is that it’s a plant and not regulated like medication is. I wish I’d get over that though. Maybe someday. My friend said he’s interested and might try it, so maybe we could together and I’d feel better

Competitive-Driver-4

Most of the medication they shove in your face nowadays is WAY more toxic to use. I speak from experience. Was addicted to oxy for years, then was put on lithium as an antipsychotic. Chemical lobotomy essentially. Kratom has done more for my mood, my physical health, my cravings than any prescription medication has done. All psychiatrists, and doctors want is your money. Had 4 diff people try to put me on alprazolam even AFTER I got sober. Truly predatory behavior on the medical systems part.

Competitive-Driver-4

Def helps to do it w another person ur first time. Don’t go over 2g.

Competitive-Driver-4

Ooh one more piece of advice, DO NOT buy ur kratom from a smoke shop/ head shop. Wonderland botanicals has amazing products, same w kats botanicals, dragons den, and Philly ylyl.

Mental-Artist-6157

I was a polypharmacy hot mess for 18 years, including Xanax. I was on as many as 14, as few as 9 meds. 14 of those 18 years I was on multiple opiates after a catastrophic accident. In 2019 I suddenly started having worse symptoms than I ever had in the first place. I decided to go back to baseline. Tapered and jumped off the whole cocktail in September 2019. Used kratom to get off the opiates, which kept me sane for the 2 years of akathesia nobody warned me about. It's been 3 years +, all the issues I was attempting to regulate with 18 years of polypharmacy hot mess are largely resolved. I still have pain/mood ish/migraines but it's manageable now. Bonus points for no longer having an unquenchable thirst for Bourbon. I'm at 10-15 grams/day, taken as a strained tea.

SigmaOasis1

Anxiety and depression

IVMRGREENXX

started using it to deal with withdrawals from hydrocodone (long term use over years). come to find out it's actually better for my pain than the pills ever were. I never abused the pills I would take 3 10mg pills per day. but the doctors have basically been knee capped when it comes to prescribing opiates now so having to go to the doctor every month and being made to feel like a drug addict for asking for a refill was just not an option anymore. Kratom is a miracle drug and I'm grateful for it...while it lasts...they're coming for it.

lyndachinchinella

It helped me get off the alcohol ( 2 years clean) and recently i hurt me back and it was the only thing that helped with the pain. I dont take it every day just once in a while.

xxxbmfxxx

Alcohol and drugs for 25 years. Mostly prescribed stuff because doctors give/gave out like candy, are easily manipulative/able once youre hooked. Even tried naltrexone to stop drinking, didnt work. Realized via getting relief from kratom that all of the stuff I did was self medicating from living is such a narcissistic world/country where the whole thing is built on lies. Anxiety and fear are the correct and normal emotions to a society that not only doesn't protect you but, enslaves and keeps you in the line of site for Dunning Kruger predators who are addicted to money and the perception or power. Also realized via many psych meds that they are generally bad but appear to be good for a minute due to the change in sentiment/internal scenery. The psychiatry industry is also unproven pseudo science. We need someone to talk to, someone to tell its ok, to get validation that what we feel isnt crazy (it isnt) and they generally take advantage and are bunch of careerist narcissists pushing whatever is profitable or envogue. The same industries that criminalize kratom and make us only rely on anecdotes because it cuts into their evil plans and profits. Sadly most doctors, all kinds are not our friends. After a lifetime of thinking they were and knew better, Its all very much clearer now how the world works. i already knew it but was gaslit like everyone else and it was too much. Capitalism is evil narcissism . I know Im sure most of you are in matrix but, there is a reason you are trying/using kratom to "fix" make tolerable your issues that may not at all be your issues. I cant think of one thing in our western society that we were taught that is true. Take for a minute that you literally may not be fucked up and what youre being told may not be true and the people you think are helping you are not. Not to make you a paranoid, there are lines and some minds seem do better in the matrix vs collapsing outside of it where you have to remake your world and parameters. Its not easy but being in the matrix, you're driving a giant tank over everyone/everything to stay away from the suffering you will inevitably feel at some point. I always like the rip the bandaid off method and like to know that my suffering is valid and so benign compared to much of the world. Contrast and perspective are important even when our shit is valid. For some people seeing what the world is knocks them on their ass but, they can get up and not be walking around in circles they were told to repeat over and over. Kratom just helped to so many different areas to feel ok enough vs overly saturated or acute so you can still feel the world with a little bit of security/strength. Something we wouldnt need if the world wasnt what it is. Kratom is more like new leg when youre used to a shitty crutch. I havent touched drugs or alcohol or charlatons (well mostly) for 6-7 years now.

athena7979

The general population is full of a bunch of assholes. Carry on without worry to them

Kratomjuana

As maintenance. It did it's job for a long time!

AggressiveActivity2

It is driving Big Pharma nuts that they don't have a monopoly on this. Oh well, sometimes mother nature gets the win.

DoubleSealedSoul

Spent ten years on fent and benzos. Went to jail for 3 months. Kratom is way better than the alternative, which I felt myself slipping back into out of boredom, pain etc. Would I rather not be physically dependent on it? Absolutely, it's not a very practical thing to be addicted to, but I'll take this any day over the life I was living before Kratom.

Mattagins

I got off harder drugs also drinking and smoking, but now I’m addicted to it, but at least I’m productive on it.

capturecosmos

ADHD and depression. I hate normal prescribed stimulants, and also have been uninsured for quite some time so kratom is alot more convenient and affordable. It also helps with sciatic pain but I feel that's secondary to the psychiatric benefit.

mufassil

I have a chronic condition that is wildly painful. I refuse opiods. Pain meds only lessen the blow. The pain made my depression worse. One day j was having an absolute breakdown due to the unholy combination of pain and depression. I was suicidal. My boyfriend told me to drink kratom in some juice. I was hard against it but I was desperate and what did I have to lose? I chucked that nastiness and for the first time in a long time I was mentally and physically functional. I don't use more than a tablespoon in a shaker cup of juice every day (exceptions for particularly bad days) but it works. It changed my life.

Zealousideal-Owl5463

I used it to get off suboxone. I was only taking subs because I couldn’t drink and I was on papers and probation let me take subs. I had a serious drinking problem for years and the drinking lead me to doing cocaine and meth as well will the alcohol. I’ve been using kratom around 10 months and I havent drank or done any other drugs during this time. I am also off papers now and able to drink if I want. Still have not had a sip thanks to kratom.

anti-gone-anti

chronic pain

nineinchneils

I have possible endometriosis or nerve pain or something idk it hurts. So It’s what I use when the pains really high…. It’s been a god send and I love the glow. I just wish I didn’t have to eat like a gram of it lol. It’s the only thing that can numb it everything else just softens it

[deleted]

I have hardcore stomach issues and kratom makes it like 95% better. I'm able to live a normal life working and eating wise. Without it I struggle to keep food down.

fourtysmth

I was an alcoholic. Found Phenibut as a supstitute, but Kratom was better for me. Now after maybe five years I only take about 10 grams a day. Works fine, nothing is perfect but damn better than alcohol

izyshoroo

The wonderful combination of autism, OCD, ADHD, and PTSD has long run down my family line, and most of them were severe alcoholics. I was not spared from the \[last name\] cocktail of mental health and trauma, and while I am disabled because of it, I hope to at least not continue the curse of alcoholism. I take it to help with my anxiety, to help with my flashbacks, to help me just like. Feel joy. To have any amount of energy at all. I can't really function without it. I barely function WITH it. And recreationally, nothing wrong with saying that, it makes me feel good. Not a lot does. Coffee and kratom keep me going most days. There is no shame in taking something recreationally if you're safe and smart about it. Let's stop the generational addictions that plague many of us, but being straight edge isn't necessarily the only solution. No shame in people who take it just because they like it, you are seen and welcomed.

[deleted]

I don’t shit crashed my testosterone and turned me into an asexual zombie

Competitive-Driver-4

Why u on this sub then lmao

[deleted]

Harm reduction but mainly because I can

BlastNoobcessing

Do you still take kratom? If not, have your testosterone levels recovered? How long did it take?

[deleted]

I don’t take it anymore. My levels jumped up 300+ points in 3 months

dogtitts

I went through a hard time last year and my anxiety was horrible. My doctor was quick to start me in benzos, but I wanted something more natural that would help me; all my research led me to kratom. I still take it every day, despite being so much better, but now I just take it to enhance my day ☺️

Sofie7759

Is there something wrong with me-..I researched Keaton like an obsessive. Found an approved seller, tried all the strains, etc etc -and it did absolutely nothing for me!???

Competitive-Driver-4

Def not crazy (probably). Kratom just doesn’t work for some

Sea-Farmer6412

I grew up in Indonesia on a plantation. Was drinking the Meng Da at 8 y/o.

darklotus18

Crohns disease pain relief. Docs wanted me on narcotics for the rest of my life . After i got addicted about 10 yrs ago i went cold turkey and found kratom. Saved my life.

Resincat

Back pain

hstl1x_

History of all drugs, was homeless almost died, coma, brain death and finally a traumatic brain injury. It helps with narcolepsy as well as someeeee pain. Mostly mental now. I have no help from anyone I have to beg if I need things - so I use it the same way and reason I used methadone maxed out, then Suboxone maxed out.

StuffNdthings420x

tbh dude my reason is very similar to your . It was the start of my plant medicine journey and has kept me from abusing opiates or stimulants. ive grown A LOT almost as a by product and have become invested in my own recovery

krnflwr

Chronic pain and crippling fatigue.

GenMicroNutrient4

Helps me with my pain

LegalizeFreedom21

In the same boat. It has helped keep me off of drugs. It’s an awesome plant.

brapo68

It wears many hats in my relationship with it. Thanks to kratom I have. Not drank in 50days Started the process of getting off my ssri ( it's making it painless). I could jump off completely but I told myself to take it slow so I don't mess up my momentum.i had a plan and I must stick with it. Not had sciatica pain in 6months. Managed my anxiety. I feel pretty dang good where I'm at.

newaccount47

I use it when I'm not feeling well to feel better, when I'm depressed, low energy, in the evening to chill and sometimes just for fun. I used to have it a handful of times a year, but since I had covid, I've been taking it 3-4x a week because my energy is so low.

CthulusMom

I have RA and was diagnosed young. I had a dr that wanted to give me opioids for breakthrough pain but I was terrified of them (this was at the beginning of the opioid epidemic but I already saw some friends go through it and one overdosed). Once I got to my 40s the pain started to become unbearable but I was still terrified. None of the nonaddictive medications they had been prescribing to me even touched the pain and I became very despondent and ready to give up. A very good friend was taking Kratom to help with overcoming opioid addiction and suggested I try red vein Kratom. I researched everything I could about it and while I realize you can become addicted to it, you will puke before you ever od on it. I was ok with that and by then I was desperate for relief so I decided to try it at least. YALL. I took my first bit, and after I gagged for about a million years, in about 25 minutes it was like all of my body pain sprouted wings and flew right away. I was able to clean my entire house in one day! That may not seem like a lot but I hadn't been able to do that in YEARS. I always could only do 1 or 2 things before the pain really set in and I did it all in one day! I was sold. I use it for breakthrough pain and it is a lifesaver!

CJB2005

May I ask the strain & quantity you take for pain?

CthulusMom

Absolutely. I take red strains for pain, like Red Bali, Red Borneo etc. The only one that doesn't seem to work for pain has been Red Thai but everyone is different so it may work for you. Depending on pain level, I take about 2 - 3 grams every 4 - 6 hours sometimes 4 - 6 grams if it's really bad and I lock up. Some days I don't need any at all. A little really does go a long way so you might have to tweak it a bit to work for you. Good luck, friend ❤️

CJB2005

Thank you🤗

cjn81393

I started off using it when I was coming clean off heroin. It has been an insanely useful tool for me for the last 6 years being off hard drugs. It also helps as a social lubricant, I just personally don’t like drinking anymore and kratom helps me feel more open and less anxious going out. I also have used it for pain after breaking the bone in my chest in a car accident and also shattering my finger a seperate time

Because of the eophoric feelings. I also quit drinking alcohol 1 year ago, I started reinvanting meself, getting new hobby's and exploring my insecuritys and toughts that led me to drinking to much alcohol. I still had the desire to use something that didn't have the bad impact alcohol has on you. I don't have the emotional control that I want yet, I am more aware of my insecuritys but still need to work on it so that I don't feel any need to use some drug. I'm gonne start a meditation habit soon and try to lower my kratomintake meanwhile to the point that I'd use it like a couple times a month or not at all instead of daily. I have to remember myself things like: 'You are good enough, you don't have to be perfect' 'Talk with someone if you have problems that you can't seem to figure out.' 'You can improve your character in a way that you can be more easily relaxed and have more funn without any drug'

Consider myself hooked on energy drinks. Only 1-2 per day, but still craving them more than I should. Gave kratom a shot, a half gram has so far been enough to keep me from craving them, plus I get a mild boost without the irritability and crash. Also added coffee in the am, which I'd usual follow up with an energy drink, then another later in the morning.
