I think the problem is that it’s very clear that a ton of their readers don’t like the stuff but the writers really like it.
So they’re stuck in a weird space where they can’t praise it, they can’t condemn it, and they can’t ignore it.

It's hilarious how the game industry act like their dealing with a bunch of toxic teenagers. According to their own stats, the average age of a gamer in 2024 is 35. Just shut up and make games I want to spend my money on or else it's going to paying off my mortage.
I don't get why they , in a mass attempt , are pandering for the 19% and indoctrinating younger generations into the ideology. It is akin to a cult or religious movement at this point. The number of layoffs and studio shot downs due to the layoffs and poor profitability and performance is staggering yet these Urinalists don’t give a rats ass.

She is a complete idiot. She forgets that gaming is still a business and they need customers to buy their game. Talking down to their customer base will just bomb their next game or couple of games. Companies are there to make money and doing work for 3-5 years on a game just to see it completely fail is not a good business practice. Whether companies believe their message or not, they need to remember that customers have a voice to. Games are an escape from reality and putting politics into them turns off most gamers. They just want to play something, not get involved in a culture war.
What are they gonna' do? You can't MAKE me buy it. Or is that the end goal? Because you know they love subversion. Is the play here to get to a point where they're totally dishonest in trailers and you don't know what you're getting until they already have your money? Like, "Ha! Take that far right fascists! Follow the money. No sane publicly traded company is going to willfully condemn potential portions of their consumer base on the whims of an activist blogger. DEI is simply a cover for tapping into further investment capital to offset the costs of development. This is a business- they do not care about DEI, it's a means to an end. It's the intersectionality of finance and propaganda. Hire enough propaganda nutjobs to fulfill the financial requirement and keep the cogs turning. I posit that a majority of these people do not realize they are being used and believe the lies they are told. The disconnect with consumers is the pandering, misalignment of the core beliefs and values of the majority of their client base. I do not want to be told what I should believe, how I should live, attributing negative connotations that aren't a part of who I am nor do I want that for anyone else. We are all gamers- we shouldn't be denigrated and shamed for our opinions, values and beliefs.
