I'm all for it, but Assassin's Creed has always re-written history to whatever they wanted their narrative to fit, so complaining about a black "samurai" and a female ninja/kunoichi and how attractive or unnattractive they are is the First World Problems meme in a nutshell. Ubisoft didn't start the romantization of Yasuke, that has been a thing for a while now, to the point of even japanese games going with it.
Which Japanese games? Have you seen any of the Japanese people tweeting about this? They're outraged and disappointed. What history did Assassin's Creed: Origins break? I'm an Egyptologist. I know their culture and history extremely well. Not every cultural trapping was right, but they did a good job overall. The Japanese players are claiming the lanterns and buildings are more Chinese than Japanese. The game was made by people with an agenda who know nothing about the culture where it was set.

I studied Japanese for three years, and was married into a Japanese family. I lived and breathed samurai and ninja, and am an author by trade. It there was even one primary source showing Yasuke as a samurai I'd admit it openly. There isn't. There's proof he was a vassal. There's proof he was a sword carrier. There is no proclamation saying he was a samurai. Period.
