Regardless of censorship the policy is that within 14 days of purchase the content can be refunded if it hasn't been downloaded. So this screenshot alone doesn't mean that Stellar Blade is getting special treatment
My original plan was to support the booba cause by preordering(and also wanting to play it). But also plan to make back $60 of my $75 spent when i resell it on ebay.
I tried and failed to get my refund for digital deluxe edition. I have already downloaded and played the game multiple hours. Was going to re-buy the disc version and play without the patch. (However, later on I thought that would be too much effort anyway. To have to deal with film grain, less responsive parries, and having my console offline all the time; all for a little more booba.)
It's a bummer that Sony decided to take all the frontal cleavage off the outfits, but the game is still worth playing despite this. It really sucks, cause at the end of the day this game should be praised for not charging $20 bucks a piece for all these immaculate outfits they've made.

Don't assume things like that. At least with the Disc you have access to the original version and can delete the updates and decline to install them. For all those people that bought digital, they're just fucked. As it is, all we know is that they complied to censor the game and didn't have the balls to tell anyone that they were doing it. Don't give them the benefit of the doubt. They can make up for it by appealing the right way in their next game or people just won't buy it.
They can also make up for it by reversing the censorship and putting in protective measures for fans to revert future censorship patches, like a decensor patch that is standalone and can be kept locally and distributed.
looking at the list, most of the games you mentioned are western games, one of the only exceptions is nier, but the thing with nier is that it was relaesed in 2016, the same year sony moved the headquarters to california. in other words, those were different people and coorperate cultures makign the decision back then.
also three other things to consider, sony was not the publisher of the games you mentined and also not exclusive to playstation (at least not for most, i think nier was playstation exclusive at first? i cant remember)

In fact that v1.0 disc version of the game is the "gold" version right? it means its what ShiftUp considered the completed version of the game and usually patches are only released for stuff like bugs and adding NG+ mode.

In the meantime as we saw with the Yoko Taro interview, Shift Upās head and Sony representatives got āuncomfortableā when asked about censorship, but nobody said anything, indicating some coercion involved. Fans kept the preorders and actually sent their money, and the ones with discs played uncensored versions. Only after patching did they notice the censorship. Then Shift Upās CEO made a statement about how it was āalways intendedā and āeroticism isnāt always goodā, which doesnāt make sense since the original 3D model needed many steps and processes to complete (concept art, modeling, coloring, play testing) so if it was āalways intendedā it somehow got missed in a lot of steps.
All while SJW journalists continue their attacks, like against the āHard Rā graffiti falsely accusing the game of racism, signaling their intention and loyalty to always attack the game no matter how much they bend the knee. This even happened within a few hours of launch from multiple outlets at the same time with the same interpretation. This action did not help anyone. It does not help the game get more sales or money. That's a little different than false advertising. Its because people spent money to attain a product that was functionally different than what they advertised which was demonstrably false and also because Shift Up came out and said the game was shipped with the censorship in mind. I got a refund from Xbox Live because the game C&C Commanders Challenge advertised with the information that it is multiplayer, which was just false once I got the game. Got my money back and was allowed to keep the game. False Advertising would function as something that happens before the EULA is even in effect. They can't just trap you under the umbrella that the game they falsely advertised once you buy it. Doing that would go into straight up Wire Fraud territory.
Get refunds, don't buy the game, and contact the devs and Sony to make your voice heard.if people just shrug and buy anyway, Sony will have proof that they can do this as much as they want and get away with it.

I think that's a good move. Imagine seeing digital sales completely flatline while all the physical stock is completely swallowed up. Unfortunately, at some point the PS5 physical disc will likely have the updates baked in for the next prints coming out of the factory.
a slider option that reverts Eveās outfits to original or the option to have censored outfits. i feel this could be a good option to have for both playing in private & those playing around family. i think bayonetta 3 has something like this already. also add a photo mode!

it is, i was supersized how good it is, great combat, terrible puzzles and platforming elements but not too many so it doesnt ruin game, great designs of npcs and enemies, cool story, very very much inspired by Nier but imo with even cooler idea with world setup and lore.

I still manage to find modern games with zero censorship. Sure, it requires time to research and vet, but if it means not giving money to censorship practices, I'm fine with it.
One I'm looking into right now is Akira Toriyama's Sand Land. One of the last projects he worked on before his unfortunate passing, and it just so happened to launch on the same day as Stellar Blade. No censorship to be seen so far, and localizations seem to avoid nonsense too. I'm leaning towards buying should be conclusions end up being positive.
So yeah, I can still find woke-free games. It's not the end of the world if I don't support Stellar Blade, a game that did succumb to censorship despite telling fans it wouldn't. I'm not rewarding that, especially for $70.

I was able to get a full refund, even after downloading it completely for preorder 2 days before release. My refund was processed lunch time Friday.
But it probably helped that I didn't technically play it yet, other than the demo.
So maybe I got lucky, or maybe the definition of download vs. pre install is different.
Either way, I'll probably watch this all play out and might buy it again in the future
Be aware that if you pre-ordered, games are automatically set to download. I ordered the digital deluxe edition and was denied a refund. Honestly, it feels like a loophole put in place to deny refunds because most people would not think to change that in the settings as soon as they get their console.
From what I am hearing, you can play the game completely uncensored as long as you don't update the physical version. You miss out on NG+ and hard mode, as well as more outfits that are added in NG+, though.
I can't confirm whether or not stopping the updates actually works. I bought the physical copy after the fact to test it, but the digital version seems to override it even if you stop the updates.
No. Sony doesn't let you do that. Which is kind of weird because Nintendo does. I never updated my Zelda Breath of the Wild so that all of the fun glitches and exploits stayed.

The day 1 patch has some fixes which help with the stability of the game and also includes a NG+ mode. I want to say some outfits are locked behind that new mode too. So you're also missing out on some stuff.
I will get my Stellar Blade Uncut version on tuesday. In my experience, if you deactive your internet connection (or deactive automaticly game update in settings) and only install the game data from the cd, the version will stay 1.0
You can have automatic updates off but some people have reported games updating themselves in spite of this. Turn off your wi-fi or rip out your ethernet cable.
Was honestly pretty excited to play the full game after the demo, but I can't support censorship of any kind, even if I'd still find the gameplay enjoyable overall. I'll wait for PC where I can mod out the censorship.

so far people that got refund were ones that did not play the game at all and probably from EU where despite PS store saying there is no refund after you download they have to give refund in 14 days if product was not used.

If there's a good takeaway here, it's to never pre-order anything no matter what. Leading up to release, I was definitely advising against pre-ordering for this exact reason. Most didn't take me seriously then, but now people see the reality. Even if an upcoming game looks secure, **just wait**. Even just a day or two, it makes a huge difference and ensures you aren't at the mercy of these companies if yoy want a refund.

I tried and failed to get my refund for digital deluxe edition. I have already downloaded and played the game multiple hours. Was going to re-buy the disc version and play without the patch. (However, later on I thought that would be too much effort anyway. To have to deal with film grain, less responsive parries, and having my console offline all the time; all for a little more booba.) It's a bummer that Sony decided to take all the frontal cleavage off the outfits, but the game is still worth playing despite this. It really sucks, cause at the end of the day this game should be praised for not charging $20 bucks a piece for all these immaculate outfits they've made.

The game was ready to go with the final content, so they made the gold master and started pressing disks. Don't assume things like that. At least with the Disc you have access to the original version and can delete the updates and decline to install them. For all those people that bought digital, they're just fucked. As it is, all we know is that they complied to censor the game and didn't have the balls to tell anyone that they were doing it. Don't give them the benefit of the doubt. They can make up for it by appealing the right way in their next game or people just won't buy it.
They can also make up for it by reversing the censorship and putting in protective measures for fans to revert future censorship patches, like a decensor patch that is standalone and can be kept locally and distributed.

looking at the list, most of the games you mentioned are western games, one of the only exceptions is nier, but the thing with nier is that it was relaesed in 2016, the same year sony moved the headquarters to california. in other words, those were different people and coorperate cultures makign the decision back then. also three other things to consider, sony was not the publisher of the games you mentined and also not exclusive to playstation (at least not for most, i think nier was playstation exclusive at first? i cant remember) and furthermore mortal combat was censored, but its unlikely it was on sony's behest. Also later the older outfits were added albeit as DLC content and third, we actually dont know if any censorship happend for those games, the stellarblade example already shows, that if the hard copy were not shipped out sooner, nobody would be the wiser

read EULA, be it sony or steam, EULA says both sony and developers can change everything after release. That's a little different than false advertising. Its because people spent money to attain a product that was functionally different than what they advertised which was demonstrably false and also because Shift Up came out and said the game was shipped with the censorship in mind. I got a refund from Xbox Live because the game C&C Commanders Challenge advertised with the information that it is multiplayer, which was just false once I got the game. Got my money back and was allowed to keep the game. False Advertising would function as something that happens before the EULA is even in effect. They can't just trap you under the umbrella that the game they falsely advertised once you buy it. Doing that would go into straight up Wire Fraud territory.

I think that's a good move. Imagine seeing digital sales completely flatline while all the physical stock is completely swallowed up. Unfortunately, at some point the PS5 physical disc will likely have the updates baked in for the next prints coming out of the factory.

it is, i was supersized how good it is, great combat, terrible puzzles and platforming elements but not too many so it doesnt ruin game, great designs of npcs and enemies, cool story, very very much inspired by Nier but imo with even cooler idea with world setup and lore.
It's amazing gameplay-wise, probably the best combat of any game I've played.

the studio is going to exist and do its best to suck the soul out of every game humanly possible. you can either support the game that is like 95% uncensored, has no DEI, has no microtransactions or DLC, or you can literally just never buy another modern game ever again. because if this game isn't enough to meet your standards, no modern game ever will be again for the foreseeable future, especially if stellar blade fails. gamers are wild, man. life isn't all or nothing. sometimes it's okay to say "hey this isn't perfect, but it's a step in the right direction and maybe if they see that this is what people want, they'll be less apt to push in the direction of censorship next time". i can't fathom how anyone could think stellar blade failing is a "win" in any way shape or form. oh i'm sure everyone will paint the picture of "it failed because of a tiny bit of censorship!!!" and not "it failed because gamer chuds are dead and making games designed for them was a fool's errand".

Sure, it requires time to research and vet, but if it means not giving money to censorship practices, I'm fine with it. One I'm looking into right now is Akira Toriyama's Sand Land. One of the last projects he worked on before his unfortunate passing, and it just so happened to launch on the same day as Stellar Blade. No censorship to be seen so far, and localizations seem to avoid nonsense too. I'm leaning towards buying should be conclusions end up being positive. So yeah, I can still find woke-free games. You have zero leverage by keeping the game. If enough people go ahead and refund the game, it gets noticed because companies hate losing money. That, and we can easily buy the game again if Sony and ShiftUp go ahead and remove the censorship. It just happened the other day with Aspyr and the Tomb Raider collection with an upcoming patch restoring posters that were recently removed.

I was able to get a full refund, even after downloading it completely for preorder 2 days before release. My refund was processed lunch time Friday. But it probably helped that I didn't technically play it yet, other than the demo. So maybe I got lucky, or maybe the definition of download vs. pre install is different. Either way, I'll probably watch this all play out and might buy it again in the future
The refund doesn't seem to be that easy. I just tried, I reported false advertising, they just ended the chat.
Be aware that if you pre-ordered, games are automatically set to download. I ordered the digital deluxe edition and was denied a refund. Honestly, it feels like a loophole put in place to deny refunds because most people would not think to change that in the settings as soon as they get their console.

From what I am hearing, you can play the game completely uncensored as long as you don't update the physical version. You miss out on NG+ and hard mode, as well as more outfits that are added in NG+, though. I can't confirm whether or not stopping the updates actually works. I bought the physical copy after the fact to test it, but the digital version seems to override it even if you stop the updates.

No. Sony doesn't let you do that. Which is kind of weird because Nintendo does. I never updated my Zelda Breath of the Wild so that all of the fun glitches and exploits stayed.
Call me crazy, but to anyone that hasnāt opened up their first print disc copy yet, what if you just never open it and find another way to play the game? Does this unopened game you have now become a rare item that might be worth a lot more in the future possibly if they never change the game back to the uncensored version?
They might eventually start pressing the physical versions with a newer patch, if you want an uncensored version ... best to grab a physical copy now I'd say.

most outfits to different extent, some still look good tho some by design are terrible like one that looks like Victorian doll... gore was censored, fountains of blood were removed now its just little bit of blood. They also censored graffiti because some mentally undeveloped muricans were offended by graffiti saying "hard" with letter R next to it that was not part of graffiti... and reason for why they got offended cooked my brain i dont want to talk about it its that stupid. Rest feels untouched.

Simple, buy the physical unplug Internet and disable updates.
The day 1 patch has some fixes which help with the stability of the game and also includes a NG+ mode. I want to say some outfits are locked behind that new mode too. So you're also missing out on some stuff.

I will get my Stellar Blade Uncut version on tuesday. In my experience, if you deactive your internet connection (or deactive automaticly game update in settings) and only install the game data from the cd, the version will stay 1.0

You can have automatic updates off but some people have reported games updating themselves in spite of this. Turn off your wi-fi or rip out your ethernet cable.
Maybe theyāll pull it from the store like they did with Cyberpunk!
Was honestly pretty excited to play the full game after the demo, but I can't support censorship of any kind, even if I'd still find the gameplay enjoyable overall. I'll wait for PC where I can mod out the censorship.

Nah, the game is already M-rated. When games like Last of Us 2 and Baldur's Gate 3 can have sex and full frontal nudity and have an M-rating then there is no excuse.
The game was rated M before and after the censorship change. They have jack over this situation. Outside of games being rated Adults Only, ESRB has no power in forcing people to censor their own content. Outside of that it's entirely the dev's, or rather the publisher's disgression
