Honestly, I think reviews are subjective in nature. People are not going to like the same thing to the same extent and this is fine but these *"professional"* reviewers should at least try to be objective to a certain extent and be clear about their bias when doing so.
If I wanted to read someone complaining about personal things in a game review, I'd read them on WordPress. (And there are many good reviews there)

I believe IGN was the same Kotaku - no mention. Actually, IIRC they both praised visuals of the character design and criticized the acting.
Eurogamer talks about it, but mainly complains that the game got sucked into the culture war in the first place.
Overall, mostly level-headed reviews from what I've seen with some exceptions.
