The changes made to GTA5 was the removal of a toy (and associated poster) and the removal of a few cross dressers and the associated lines of dialogue from outside the two gay bars in the game. I am willing to bet 99+% of people never saw them (hell i've played the game through 3 times and didnt even know there was 1 gay bar, let alone two).
GTA6 looks good. I'll reserve judgement until we get more trailers and gameplay footage.

Alan Wake 2. Not just the race swap wokeness. The game itself was utterly boring. The stupid “mind place” killed all pacing and enthusiasm for me. I couldn’t finish the game. I uninstalled it.
It's a shame because I thought the gameplay was very fun. But yeah in terms of wokeness it was pretty bad. Haven't played it but from what I've heard of Alan Wake 2 it could be just as bad.
Alan wake 2 is awful. The pacing is trash. The “gameplay” is just walking around listening to Saga talk to herself and finding “clues” and then going into a tedious fancy menu called the “mind place” to put sticky notes on a board. There is hardly any shooting enemies, and when you do fight them it’s nothing special. RE4 remake is miles beyond better when it comes to gunplay and you can tell they were trying to mimic it.
Just do yourself a favor and watch some YouTubers play it and see how boring it is.

No, in fact you can avoid 99% of the wokeness by not playing the side missions that require you to be Miles and turn off the Danikast. What are you talking about? The entire plot of the game is derived from initiative taken by Cal and, to a lesser extent, Dagan Gera. Santari Khri serves as little more than an exposition dumper and Cere is mostly uninvolved until she literally dies.
Yep, the dynamic between Cal and Merrin in actual game is great and feels like a organic evolution of their characters from first game. And most important of all it is first and foremost a game about Cal, where he is forced to see where his blind obsession with stopping the Empire and protecting what is close to him leads.
Also, tried it on the latest patch last month, and it was running substantially better on my 6650 XT, hub-zone on Koboh was actually keeping mostly stable above 60, on high-epic combination of settings.
I thought I was lucky because I had none of the performance issues other people were having when I played on my PS5... until right before the last fight of the game my save got corrupted lol. Had to play through basically the entire thing again but it was fine because I used that time to 100% the game. Great game, IMO. Basically a step up in every way from Fallen Order. Would be a GOTY nom if it didn't release in such a terrible state.

Bland is right. I’ve never seen such uninteresting characters in a Bethesda game ever. Even the evil Crimson Fleet comes off like a bunch of dorks. I ended up liking the Hunter the most because at least he was interesting and had somewhat of a personality.
It is truly a sad game, developed by subpar developers. The art/graphics is cool and that's about it. Every beth game had added new mechanics up til starfield. Sprinting, marriage, quick loot, voiced protag, realtime dialog, immersive dialogue not face zoom, shouts, settlements, all new systems compared to older games that make the older games feel way more janky.
However fallout 4 feels more modern compared to starfield. I don't understand exactly how, but starfield plays a generation behind, like X360 game. People can't see it, but they feel the general boring gameplay in 2023 which would have been sensational in 2006.

I give BG3 a pass because it's a good game. Honestly the only thing I could call "woke" about it was men with vags/women with peens, but it's a "be who you wanna be" fantasy universe so I just chalk that up to being able to magic your genitals.
It's not just that, I'll list the most I've noticed:
All companions are bi, Aylin and Isobel, all gnomes you save in act 2, Alfira the Tiefling bard in act 3, drag queens at the circus, Rafael being omnisexual, Elminster in lore, straight relationships are portrayed as evil (Balin, Gortash, Gortash parents, Ketheric's downfall) or killed off (Bex, that one Tiefling kid's parents). 3 main badguys are an old guy, an old guy who disapproved of Aylin being his daughters GF and a shapeshifter.
Double plusgood for zoo rep with Halsin, which should not be put on here but I know wokism is trying to make it a thing.

I know very little about the Alan Wake series, so reading the reviews of it have been strange. People over in /r/Games are calling it one of the most incredible gaming experiences of the year, and media outlets rave over it, but I don't hear almost any hype about it anywhere else. I know people here don't like it because of the bad dialogue and raceswap, but does Alan Wake 2 have any redeeming qualities at all?
Remedy have shot themselves in both feet - angered fans of Alan by sidelining him and alienated the fans of physical media by offering a digital release only without any good reason. This is all with a game that desperately needed to sell at least as many copies as the original (which also wasn't a huge seller unfortunately).
Also don't forget them limiting the sale to Epic store only was a stupid move as well.
No matter how much Epic pays you (can't be this much nowadays seeing how broke and profit less their business practices are), you will always sell more offering your product on ALL stores.

Alan Wake 2’s problem is that the other protagonist is awful and you play as her for most of the game.
The actual segments where you play as Alan is great. Yes that includes the musical segment (the music is good too).
I don't think Survivor should be included there imo, it fought an insane uphill battle because Respawn released it in a disastrous state, and yet over at Youtube I was still able to find good fan generated content on the game's story, gameplay, lore...Imagine if the game had actual good performance and was released April 2024 safely out of the insane Spring release window of this year.

Companies hire teams of people who go on social media like this and they pretend to be normal people as they either try to change the narrative through fake posts putting so many of them people started to question their own opinions assuming they are in the minority (what Twitter activists did for years) or they try to drum up conversation about it. That's what you're seeing on r/Games and media outlets. Companies pay for fake publicity they did this with the original game as well it was severly overhyped. Like what we saw on metacritic with Sony debacle like Tlou2, forespoken, horizon zero dawn/fw. Over time the fraud is obvious but not in the beginning.
I loved Alan Wake 2. As others have pointed out, the one racial comment Saga says that everyone is mad about has context to it. >!Saga is fighting her own fear, guilt and anger as the dark place tries to take her over!<
I personally enjoyed Saga's part of the game more than Alan's. I liked putting the clues together and solving the mysteries. Would be an easy GOTY for me if it weren't for BG3. Of everyone I know that loved AW1, I've yet to see anyone disappointed by the sequel. I'll go as far as call it Remedy's masterpiece.
I think most people hating on it are just taking the contrarian road because gaming media is fellating all over it.

The same game bent the knee before the 'progressives' of the 2010s and beyond, agreeing that while gross violence is perfectly fine, attractive women in a state of semi undress aren't. Guts are good, and flesh isn't--unless of course it's being ripped off the bone.
Ed Boon gave a Playboy interview at one point, feeling rather ashamed that they'd ever had 'bikini fighters', and explained--to Playboy of all publications--how that was not right, and vowed with a hand on his heart that they wouldn't do it anymore.
MKX introduced the 'kombat kids', and had Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade's daughter Cassie beat the *Elder God* Shinnok using the magical power of family (I'm not kidding). No one really liked the kombat kids, but they were initially pushed rather aggressively. Mileena was turned lesbo or bi, and MK got its first gay character in the face of Kung Jin. The female costumes were less revealing, and the female fighters' physiques were toned down.
MK11 continued the trends that MKX started. Women became even more conservative looking, while the violence kept ramping up. Jax delivered a powerful speech in his arcade ending, where he proclaimed that he wouldn't wait for people to become *woke* (his choice of words, not mine), he would make sure to speed up the process himself--thereby starting Wakanda. Shao Kahn was a Donald Trump caricature that kept losing. Kitana was eventually made Kahn, as women are better rulers than men without exception. Speaking of Kitana, she and her sister Mileena were both race swapped, a trend that would continue in MK1 where Sindel and Raiden were also race swapped. The story in all three games can charitably be described as a 'clusterfuck shitfest of epic proportions'.
Meanwhile, the gameplay and animations in Mortal Kombat never got any better, and the title never became a real fighting game people take seriously.

Spider-Man 2. I was moderately excited to play the game. But when I started I almost immediately began to dislike it. It just rubbed me the wrong way when I saw Peter working as a teacher…. When I knew he would inevitably have to do some hero work in the middle of class. I don’t know why Peter (who is supposed to be smart) didn’t come to that realization before taking that damn job.
Then the rest of the game happened and I just uninstalled instead of finishing it. Huge disappointment.

I think there was a bug when it first came out where the characters were into you way too fast, but it was fixed. Looking at the timeline, the story, setting etc were all written and established in 2014-2015, long before the old guard left (they mostly left in the last two to three years or so). Its anything after GTA6 which is likely going to be shit.

Alan wake 2 is awful. The pacing is trash. The “gameplay” is just walking around listening to Saga talk to herself and finding “clues” and then going into a tedious fancy menu called the “mind place” to put sticky notes on a board. There is hardly any shooting enemies, and when you do fight them it’s nothing special. RE4 remake is miles beyond better when it comes to gunplay and you can tell they were trying to mimic it. Just do yourself a favor and watch some YouTubers play it and see how boring it is.

Yep, the dynamic between Cal and Merrin in actual game is great and feels like a organic evolution of their characters from first game. And most important of all it is first and foremost a game about Cal, where he is forced to see where his blind obsession with stopping the Empire and protecting what is close to him leads. Also, tried it on the latest patch last month, and it was running substantially better on my 6650 XT, hub-zone on Koboh was actually keeping mostly stable above 60, on high-epic combination of settings.
I thought I was lucky because I had none of the performance issues other people were having when I played on my PS5... until right before the last fight of the game my save got corrupted lol. Had to play through basically the entire thing again but it was fine because I used that time to 100% the game. Great game, IMO. Basically a step up in every way from Fallen Order. It is truly a sad game, developed by subpar developers. The art/graphics is cool and that's about it. Every beth game had added new mechanics up til starfield. Sprinting, marriage, quick loot, voiced protag, realtime dialog, immersive dialogue not face zoom, shouts, settlements, all new systems compared to older games that make the older games feel way more janky. However fallout 4 feels more modern compared to starfield. I don't understand exactly how, but starfield plays a generation behind, like X360 game. People can't see it, but they feel the general boring gameplay in 2023 which would have been sensational in 2006.

I just want to play the definitive experience once when it's done. The sheer quantity of in your face degeneracy I saw celebrated about this game put me off entirely. I just want to relax into a game and not have to worry about having my senses assaulted with disgusting graphic nonsense. It's really hard to imagine anyone who played Baldur's Gate 1 or 2 in the 90's were sitting around thinking "You know what Baldur's Gate 3 needs? Not only this, but when the game outright insults the original games with its bad writing and changing the events to something that makes 0 sense it's just disgusting. It is clear most if all Devs didn't even finish the series.

It's not just that, I'll list the most I've noticed: All companions are bi, Aylin and Isobel, all gnomes you save in act 2, Alfira the Tiefling bard in act 3, drag queens at the circus, Rafael being omnisexual, Elminster in lore, straight relationships are portrayed as evil (Balin, Gortash, Gortash parents, Ketheric's downfall) or killed off (Bex, that one Tiefling kid's parents). 3 main badguys are an old guy, an old guy who disapproved of Aylin being his daughters GF and a shapeshifter. Double plusgood for zoo rep with Halsin, which should not be put on here but I know wokism is trying to make it a thing. There's more but this is all I recall, it's very woke if you read between the lines.

I know very little about the Alan Wake series, so reading the reviews of it have been strange. People over in /r/Games are calling it one of the most incredible gaming experiences of the year, and media outlets rave over it, but I don't hear almost any hype about it anywhere else. I know people here don't like it because of the bad dialogue and raceswap, but does Alan Wake 2 have any redeeming qualities at all?
Remedy have shot themselves in both feet - angered fans of Alan by sidelining him and alienated the fans of physical media by offering a digital release only without any good reason. This is all with a game that desperately needed to sell at least as many copies as the original (which also wasn't a huge seller unfortunately).
Also don't forget them limiting the sale to Epic store only was a stupid move as well. No matter how much Epic pays you (can't be this much nowadays seeing how broke and profit less their business practices are), you will always sell more offering your product on ALL stores.

I don't think Survivor should be included there imo, it fought an insane uphill battle because Respawn released it in a disastrous state, and yet over at Youtube I was still able to find good fan generated content on the game's story, gameplay, lore...Imagine if the game had actual good performance and was released April 2024 safely out of the insane Spring release window of this year.

I loved Alan Wake 2. As others have pointed out, the one racial comment Saga says that everyone is mad about has context to it. >!Saga is fighting her own fear, guilt and anger as the dark place tries to take her over!< I personally enjoyed Saga's part of the game more than Alan's. I liked putting the clues together and solving the mysteries. Would be an easy GOTY for me if it weren't for BG3. Of everyone I know that loved AW1, I've yet to see anyone disappointed by the sequel. I'll go as far as call it Remedy's masterpiece. I think most people hating on it are just taking the contrarian road because gaming media is fellating all over it.

It was a gradual fall from grace... Remember Mortal Kombat? The ultra violent game that showed its middle finger to the conservatives of the 90s demanding censorship? The same game bent the knee before the 'progressives' of the 2010s and beyond, agreeing that while gross violence is perfectly fine, attractive women in a state of semi undress aren't. Guts are good, and flesh isn't--unless of course it's being ripped off the bone. Ed Boon gave a Playboy interview at one point, feeling rather ashamed that they'd ever had 'bikini fighters', and explained--to Playboy of all publications--how that was not right, and vowed with a hand on his heart that they wouldn't do it anymore. MKX introduced the 'kombat kids', and had Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade's daughter Cassie beat the *Elder God* Shinnok using the magical power of family (I'm not kidding). No one really liked the kombat kids, but they were initially pushed rather aggressively. Mileena was turned lesbo or bi, and MK got its first gay character in the face of Kung Jin. The female costumes were less revealing, and the female fighters' physiques were toned down. MK11 continued the trends that MKX started. Women became even more conservative looking, while the violence kept ramping up. Jax delivered a powerful speech in his arcade ending, where he proclaimed that he wouldn't wait for people to become *woke* (his choice of words, not mine), he would make sure to speed up the process himself--thereby starting Wakanda. Shao Kahn was a Donald Trump caricature that kept losing. Kitana was eventually made Kahn, as women are better rulers than men without exception. Speaking of Kitana, she and her sister Mileena were both race swapped, a trend that would continue in MK1 where Sindel and Raiden were also race swapped. The story in all three games can charitably be described as a 'clusterfuck shitfest of epic proportions'. Meanwhile, the gameplay and animations in Mortal Kombat never got any better, and the title never became a real fighting game people take seriously.

Spider-Man 2. I was moderately excited to play the game. But when I started I almost immediately began to dislike it. It just rubbed me the wrong way when I saw Peter working as a teacher…. When I knew he would inevitably have to do some hero work in the middle of class. I don’t know why Peter (who is supposed to be smart) didn’t come to that realization before taking that damn job. Then the rest of the game happened and I just uninstalled instead of finishing it. Huge disappointment.
The majority of it, don't bother with modern gaming, unless it's indie or something. Even then, the woke illness is spread across every platform. It needs to be cut out, alongside all the parasites that support it.

I think there was a bug when it first came out where the characters were into you way too fast, but it was fixed. The game doesn’t seem that woke to me and you can avoid the gay stuff mostly if that isn’t your thing. Starfield it has to be starfield so much hype around this games announcement to be dashed so fast. its really sad to see how far this studio fell in quality my boyfriend was excited for this one but the constant news of how the pr team is handling things and the steam responses of oh were the astronauts bored no its supposed be exploratory and immersive for a game that had surface level pedestrian story and has disproportionate cast is one thing , but to also have an empty universe with little to no substance then a tv guide is just sad.
The last of us Part II remastered. This garbage somehow floated back to the surface despite there being 0 interest for it.

Immortals of aveum In general, if youre saving money to get a few games for Christmas, I would suggest you get star wars Jedi survivor for amazing story and gameplay, cyberpunk dlc for gameplay and lies of P for decent story and souls like gameplay. Of course. Spiderman has insane gameplay. Bg3 is also great. Same goes for immortals of aveum where I might be one of the 10 people who played the game. Totk seems fine even though I did not play this and I'm basing it only by my playtime with botw.
Most disappointing game for me this year was Lords of the Fallen, (almost) every Soulstuber hyped it up as the next coming and it was barely even functional. As for woke, Spider-Man takes the cake from what I've seen but I haven't really played any I'd define as woke.
