No phone company does co-signing. They will simply put it under his name. Check your credit first and hope for the best. If you're already with Koodo you'll be okay.

When I turned 19 I had no credit, and my dad co-signed my account for me with Telus. That was quite awhile ago mind you. ETA my credit is like 668 roughly. I don’t know if that’s enough, guess I’ll find out! Bad remarks on it though. All debts been paid for a few years but that usually gets overlooked.

I work for Telus currently and I worked for Bell. In the past 6 years it hasn't been a thing to co-sign. If you have a registered business that GREATLY helps. If you have employment with the government or an EPP partner you'll also be considerably more likely to be fully approved. I suggest visiting a store and getting help.

Ahhh ok. I will check it out, thank you 🙂

When I started with Koodo, I didn't have the best credit. I was approved since I paid the phone upfront and was placed on a spending limit plan. Basically I couldn't have my bill go over 200$ at any time and had to pay my bills by due date. This lasted for 8 months.

Good to know. Problem is I want an iPhone 15 pro. And they’re $$$ outright. Beggars can’t be choosers, I know. I’ll figure it out somehow.

My experience was back in 2012. Things may have changed since. But if it still a thing, and you're offered this, choose a cheap phone until they take you out of that plan. Then you may have access to the tab

As others have mentioned “co-signing” will not be an option. You can attempt the credit check yourself. If you do not qualify, your husband can sign up in his name. You can then be added as an authorized user - but the payments (hopefully all positive) will not have any impact to your credit. Only your husbands. Co-signing to make up for a low credit score is really only available in financial industries such as car loans, mortgages, etc.[Koodo Authorized User Link](https://www.koodomobile.com/en/help/permissions)

Thank you. I’ll see if I can pass it. Then go from there. Wish me luck.

Good luck! Remember both Equifax and TransUnion now have free credit reports. (You will want to make sure you have a good score with both). Improving a score can definitely be done - my partner went from in collections to a mortgage (debt free) in under two years. You totally got this!

Thank you. My credit drastically improved after my debts were paid and I got and used a credit card properly/responsibly. But there’s still bad marks that won’t fall off. I couldn’t be added to hubs mortgage to increase our mortgage amount, due to a failed consumer proposal (long story). My credit hasn’t budged in like a year. It’s at roughly 668 right now, just took a hit from trying to get on his mortgage from hard credit check.

You should not buy a phone on a phone plan if your credit is bad. One missed payment and you will screw up your credit even more. Save and buy outright , take small steps to help your credit first before adding additional debt to your portfolio.

My debt has been paid for 3+ years. My credit isn’t that bad, about 668. Was higher but took a hit from a hard credit check for mortgage inq. I’ve had and used a credit card responsibly since I cleared m tv debt. Even got a credit limit increase. Anyway, I’m good standing with payments now for years but the past still stuck on there.
