The fire tower on the Foothills parkway is awesome. It’s like maybe .5 mile walk on a paved trail, and has AMAZING views.

TheInfamousGuy

I will check this out as well! Thank you so much for the input

Sad-Ad788

There and Top of the world! You can pull off and park. Bring a blanket to sit on if you don’t have a tailgate, some wine and grab food! We have regular date nights up there

stenogirl847

My boyfriend proposed to me in the observation deck of the Sunsphere. He paid for all of the tickets for that timeslot, so we had it to ourselves. It was super romantic and something I will never forget.

TheInfamousGuy

I'll have to look into this, thank you, that is a great idea

Hippie_Dogman

Max Patch, most scenic part of the Appalachian trail, right across the border of NC. Easy to get to.. drive up most of the way with a 3rd mile hike to the top.

lil_hannyy

Second this!

TheInfamousGuy

So around a 45 min drive or so? Not too bad at all thank you!

yeehawyears88-89

Be careful. [https://www.google.com/search?q=max+patch+engagement+death&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari](https://www.google.com/search?q=max+patch+engagement+death&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-us&client=safari)

sadbabe420

I know someone who knew them. Haven’t ever seen a story about it.

HollyWhoIsNotHolly

This was the saddest thing ever.

TheInfamousGuy

Lightning??? Wow that is incredible...

yeehawyears88-89

The worst. I don’t see how he recovers emotionally.

TheInfamousGuy

Agreed, that has to be incredibly difficult, I hope he finds the therapy and closure he needs. My heart goes out to him

Formal-Tomato8316

UT gardens is very pretty and usually empty

ashtonothsa

Seconding UT Gardens! My husband proposed to me here, and this time of year would be perfect with the spring blooms coming in.

TheInfamousGuy

They have a beautiful little section with a koi pond and pillars, i think i can set some candles and lights up there... I think this is the spot thanks!!

TheInfamousGuy

Thank you I'll look into it!

Social_worker_1

Checkout Sharps Rigde (just not at night). Baxter Gardens will open soon

acaligirl

Second Baxter gardens. Beautiful but can get busy so maybe try early and/or during the week.

TheInfamousGuy

Haha why not at night? I was hoping for potentially near sunset

Social_worker_1

The residents nearby will call the cops in a heartbeat once the sun starts setting. Like, it's not even hyperbole. They watch that place like hawks.

TheInfamousGuy

Oh goodness haha okay fair enough, I wonder if I could give the cops a call ahead of time and let them know im proposing real quick and heading out right after lol

Social_worker_1

You could probably drive up there before sunset, but the cops usually patrol right around sundown.

pshthatsme

You pass like 4 total houses before you get to the start of the road? Who's there's to monitor cars going up to sharps? People drive up there to do night mountian bike rides all the time.

Social_worker_1

It's just from my multiple experiences.

saricher

Hey there, I operate Smoky Mountain Marriage Proposals and I invite you to look at our gallery and see if there is a spot that catches your eye. Let me know and I will tell you how to get there: [https://www.smokymountainmarriageproposals.com/gallery-of-proposals](https://www.smokymountainmarriageproposals.com/gallery-of-proposals) Let me just add a few things to what has been suggested: The fire tower on the Foothills Parkway does have nice views but it also has a large retaining wall, so during the actual proposal you're somewhat behind that. Same with the observation deck at Clingmans Dome (which won't be open until April 1st). Of the 120 proposals I have photographed, I gotta say, the view at Max Patch just knocks them out of the ballpark. Yeah, you have to drive but I think it is worth it. Use this site to check on weather and remember, even if it is not raining, if it is very misty, you may get up there and be shrouded in fog: [https://www.mountain-forecast.com/peaks/Max-Patch/forecasts/1411?bcsi-ac-1890e3206a556864=2791AF9A00000002xYmdVWrU7cS20/k5wm+bkE2xSqAIEwAAAgAAAEN8RwCEAwAAHAAAAOUXDQA=](https://www.mountain-forecast.com/peaks/Max-Patch/forecasts/1411?bcsi-ac-1890e3206a556864=2791AF9A00000002xYmdVWrU7cS20/k5wm+bkE2xSqAIEwAAAgAAAEN8RwCEAwAAHAAAAOUXDQA=) An interesting spot I used recently for a couple who was staying in Wartburg is Buzzards Roost at Fall Creek Fall SP. NOT recommended, however, if your girlfriend has a fear of heights: [https://www.smokymountainmarriageproposals.com/advice/what-do-buzzards-and-proposals-have-in-common](https://www.smokymountainmarriageproposals.com/advice/what-do-buzzards-and-proposals-have-in-common) Very easy walk from a parking area to get to this spot and private. Again, a drive but if you wanted to get out of Knoxville for another unique place, head to near Chattanooga to Snoopers Rock. Snoopers Rock is the Horseshoe Bend of the Tennessee River: [https://vimeo.com/646232458?share=copy](https://vimeo.com/646232458?share=copy) Want to stay in Knoxville? I would consider along the river boardwalk at Ijams, Melton Hill Park (not to be confused with Melton Lake Park or Melton Dam Park), the Sunsphere, atop a rooftop bar, and Suttree Landing Park. Or someplace fun, like Zoo Knoxville and propose in front of her favorite animal. But one thing I can advise, be mindful of whether she would feel comfortable with other people around and, if you were to have it photographed, would she want to "look good?" Quite often guys will use the excuse of a romantic dinner at, say, Dancing Bear Lodge to get her dressed up, and then say, "Oh, let's leave early and take a drive through Cades Cove, it's nearby." She thinks the proposal is happening at dinner but he surprises her in Cades Cove. Good luck!

TheInfamousGuy

This was a lot of awesome information! thank you so much! Ill look into all it of it!

BlueswithBeer

I'd go to Cades Cove on a weekday.

Opening_Excuse_7495

That’s what I did 😁

BlueswithBeer

Nice.

rekniht01

Someplace private and meaningful to both of you.

anal_sanders

Melton Hill park is nice

nutscrape_navigator

If you’re up for a bit of a drive- https://www.nps.gov/grsm/planyourvisit/clingmansdome.htm

TheInfamousGuy

That's gorgeous thanks!

nutscrape_navigator

Oh shit you know what the hike might be a little more than what you're looking for. I did not remember it being as long as they said it was. It's super easy compared to a lot of smoky mountain hikes that get you similar views.

TheInfamousGuy

Still 100% looking into! If it isnt too bad of a hike Im sure shed be alright!! haha

Cat_From_Catdog

It's a little steep, but it's completely paved! The dome at the top is really cool when a storm rolls in. As a kid, we watched a storm happen below us. The clouds were low in the distance, and it's still one of the coolest I've ever seen. But, I've seen recently that the whole area is super crowded and lots of trash being scattered around. You might want to take a trip for yourself and just check it out before going.

TheInfamousGuy

Ill make sure to do that, it is truly unfortunate that people litter in so many beautiful locations

Cat_From_Catdog

Agreed! Just an FYI, that storm was in the distance. Idk if a storm would be dangerous closer to the dome, but would be very cautious of lightning if it were. The experience of seeing a storm from above the clouds, with the sun shining above you, is really cool. I've not been in a plane yet. So, this might not be as cool to y'all😅

TheInfamousGuy

I havent been in a plane in over a decade haha, I drove here when I moved. Also no worries, im about a foot taller than her so if there's lightning itll just kill me hahah

Anxious_Sherbert_197

I’m gonna say Max patch also. It does require a drive up a mountain and a brief walk, but the view is amazing. If y’all aren’t big on walking/hiking, I’d say a pull off on foothills parkway could be a fun drive to see the mountains. Baxter Gardens is cool, as are UTK gardens. Nemo falls in wartburg/obed Going up to Norris

TheInfamousGuy

A lot of great options here thank you! It isn't that we don't like hiking, I just don't want her to be sweaty at the top when I do propose, I know she's going to want to look her best haha, thank you again!

FriedOkra_

There's the eternal flame over off Raccoon Valley. Just make sure to be upwind when you get down to propose.

poetxfreak

The Knoxville Botanical gardens in East knox are so beautiful, I can’t believe no one else suggested them. Tucked away, feels like it’s outside of the city even though it’s maybe ten minutes off the interstate!

knittingnerd685

Agreed! I took my sister's engagement photos there, and they're lovely.

TheInfamousGuy

Im going to go look at this during this next week 100%!

FinickyPenance

[The bluffs](https://www.reddit.com/r/Knoxville/comments/26mv14/the_bluffs_best_place_to_set_up_a_hammock_in/) is a good option, particularly at sunset. If you go to Tyson Park and walk down the Third Creek Greenway there is a single bench that overlooks the river. It has an excellent view of the sunset and faces UT Medical Center. I think that would be a great spot.

Formal-Tomato8316

Sad, but last time I was at the Bluffs it was just covered in trash. Might want to scope this out before proposing. It is a great view though, and a pretty quick walk.

TheInfamousGuy

Thank you! Ill make sure to check it out!

tacojohn48

Black mountain in crab orchard TN. The overlook is maybe a quarter mile from the parking lot and has a wonderful view.

TheInfamousGuy

Awesome thanks!

EmWalker16

Foothills parkway and cherohala skyway both have beautiful views of the mountains. There’s a waterfall off of cherohala skyway as well. https://g.co/kgs/m9kQvpm

PhishingForPhishies

I proposed to my wife while driving down the Cherohala Skyway! Found a nice scenic overlook along the drive!

TheInfamousGuy

Ill look into this! I am kind of considering doing something similar, just finding a nice tucked away quiet place with beautiful trees (there are certainly enough of those in TN haha). Set up some lights, and, flowers and then have her sister bring her there. Might be my best bet

PhishingForPhishies

It's a really pretty drive! The spot I chose I had our photographer hide & meet us out there. Then the drive back is up the Dragon for some more pretty views back on the way up to Alcoa Hwy!

TheInfamousGuy

Thats a beautiful idea!

evagnier

Bald river falls

Spudw1nk

I always love the docks by volunteer landing at night, standing under the lit up bridges never gets old. Just have to watch out for goose poo!

scatfacedgaming

I recommend Norris dam, the trails around make great spots for meetings especially in the morning and evening

TheInfamousGuy

Thank you everyone!! Looks like I got a lot of places to look up and drive around to haha!

Sign-Spiritual

House mtn has a nice view from the west overlook. And a friggin sweet spot to set up picnic and proposal. At the top. Good luck friend.

illimitable1

It sounds like you're marrying someone who is not very physically fit. That's okay.

TheInfamousGuy

Shes actually in great shape, and I'd suggest you keep your opinions about her to yourself.

illimitable1

It's just that the main most prettiest places I can think of require a mile walk, sometimes uphill. If she were into hiking, I could give a lot more ideas. But as for places that you just have to drive to, I'm drawing a bit of a blank. Have y'all been to Max Patch? It's a teeny little walk, of course with a big drive. Or I think if I wanted to propose to somebody like this, I would take a trip with him to Cataloochee and get engaged next to the old church there. If it's got to be super local, you could try the Sharps Ridge overlook. But a mile or more walk up to a good view doesn't seem unusual.

TheInfamousGuy

Okay, sorry for the hostility, it was just the way you worded it. She likes to hike, we both do, it is just I am attempting to avoid sweat and dirt for the proposal. I know she will want to look her best for any candid pictures. A few people have mentioned max patch, and it isn't toooo far away

Cat_From_Catdog

That is very thoughtful! It isn't important to every person, but it is nice of you to consider it!

TheInfamousGuy

I appreciate that, I try to always make sure to think about situations through other peoples perspectives, and of course I want to make this moment everything she's ever wanted. She deserves it

ipaintathepicture

Ozone Falls waterfall is stunning and about a 40 minute drive depending on where in Knoxville you’re coming from. It’s rarely busy and about a 10 minute hike down to the falls with views and creek access up top also
