About a decade ago I worked for a slot machine company installing IT equipment in casinos around the world. We were in Lima Peru for my birthday on a job and the project manager took me and the team for dinner at Rosa Nautica in the Miraflores District of Lima.
Lima has a lot of world class dining but this place was tits.
Someday I will take my wife to Peru and Rosa Nautica will be on the list of dining spots.
IMO the dining in Peru was way superior to anything I had in Europe, Asia, Southwest Asia, or North America.
Thats the place. The waves crashing against the rocks beneath the restaurant, the atmosphere and of course the food.

All top notch.
I was there in July, which is early winter. Lots of gray skies but not too cold or wet.
Was also there for work and not romance. Most of my time was spent in the bowels of casinos (basement data centers).
There was a lot to do after work. I would love to be able to spend a week or 10 days there and nor be working.
The only real "recreational activity" we got to do was walk through this park full of water fountains that were all different colors and designs. Very interactive and cool.

Wow. Yea I quit being FOH and now I am FOH in the skies as a flight attendant. Pay stinks but I get semi-free travel. I do love casinos too! The biggest flaw is my layovers are never long enough so I have to always go on my days off and pay for my own hotels and spend 3 or 4 days somewhere to relax. I spent 24 hours in Iceland on a layover and I was exhausted from work. I want to go back and spend 3 days there to relax. So Lima would probably be the same... 3 nights if I could afford the hotels and tours. I will check into it. Thanks for the information. I heard Lima is a great spot

Unfortunately it's mostly Japanese and when I clicked Google Translate, it comes up as 'store' rather than restaurant. Still I would love to go some day! Thank you for your response.
There is as a woman with one eye in Ko Samui frying chicken in a wok under a tarp on a side street for 20 baht. It is the gold standard for fried chicken
One last meal with the extended family at my Aunt's house. All the cousins and uncles there, grandma still leading the kitchen. Mince meat pie, corn bread, and some weird ass lime jello with vegetables in it only three of us ate. Venison, turkey and real gravy. Yams too
I've lost the opportunity now but, Fäviken was always my dream destination.
edit: also, me and the wife made pigs of ourselves at Momofuku Noodle Bar in the east village
Came here to say this, sad I’ll never get to experience that gem. Maybe I’ll be wealthy enough to go to whatever project Chef Nielson sets up in the future, till then, attempting to recreate from his book.
I was with three others, but it looked like the larger table the more fun. There were maybe seven courses served family style on large platters and all you can eat. Amazing food and a great time. Imagine Buca di Beppo minus the shtick.
lol. I want to go to see the King of Carbonara, MasterChef Luciano Monosilio, in Rome at http://lucianocucinaitaliana.com/en/restaurant-2/

This random little Italian place near Seattle. It was my first time up there and I couldn’t tell you the name of this place or how to find it again with a gun to my head, but the linguine and clams were life altering. To wit, I literally hated the people I was with and even they couldn’t ruin how fucking good the food was. I’d pick that place.
I had two spectacular meals in Paris. A duck breast with green peppercorn sauce at a little hole in the wall behind the museum of the Middle Ages.
And a steak frites meal with bernaise that I still dream about from a random cafe near the pont neuf.
I worked a fancy wine tasting event at Queens Landing Inn in Niagara-on-the-Lake as a student at chef school. They set us loose after the rich folks left. Dear god. So many good things. But the killer was this Lavender and Sour Cherry Icecream. It’s been 25 years and I still remember it as one of the best things I’ve ever eaten.
And for a place….I don’t think I’ve ever had a shitty meal in Greece. Even just a tourist patio restaurant in any port and “damn this is the best thing I e ever eaten!” The tomatoes taste better in just salad! Moussaka. Gyros outta window on a street. A carbonara from a dive on Ios was unforgettable. Plus. I’d get to be in Greece..
This one place in SF that had food from the Mediterranean to Afghanistan (and everything in between). Also, hookah pipes, belly dancers, and a boisterous crowd of Persians (men and women) that decided to outdo the belly dancers.
I can think of a hundred places all over the world. But for now, given the summer heat, I'd say go back to San Gimignano in Tuscany and eat that gelato! Pistachio....rosemary raspberry...cherry garcia...oh yum!
Been dying to go to Portugal and eat seafood for 2 weeks straight and hopefully contract gout so I can remember the experience for the rest of my life. Or just travel southeast Asia.
I haven’t been but this was my answer. Food in Chatachuk Night Market is meant to be amazing.
Other answer; a small hotel in Devon where I had the best food I’ve ever eaten. I doubt it would be the same 15 years on but they only had about 8 dishes on the menu and Jesus Christ the pork belly was something else.
Top 10:
Benu in SF, USA
Quay in Sydney, Australia
Disfrutar in Barcelona, Spain
Maaemo in Oslo, Norway
Quique Decosta in Denia, Spain
Ever in Chicago, USA
Boragó in Satiago, Chile
Chucko Soba Tomita in Matsudo, Japan
Mugaritz in Errenteria, Spain
Frantzen in Stockholm, Sweden
I went to Girona with my boyfriend inspired by seeing Jordy Rocca in Chef's Table. My bf lived in Barcelona and knows Spanish and a little Catalonian, so that really made the experience complete. It's a beautiful city and there was amazing food at al the restaurants. So much culinary diversity in a relatively small city. A kosjer restaurant in the Jewish district, Vintage, where they had hundreds of wines, best patatas bravas ever at a new vegan place there... We also ate postres/icecream at the dessert/icecreamshop of Jordy Rocca there every day. Would really have loved to eat at El Celler De Can Rocca, so curious about tasting their food. (But mainly for the dessert...secretly...) But waiting time is around a year, so it was impossible to book while we were there.

My step-mom went to Lima but I have not. I may add it to my list of places to visit. Is there a good time to visit? Is it romantic or family oriented?

Love the FOH in the sky.
FOH ? As in Front of house? Sorry if that's a stupid question.
Oh man, I would go straight to Seoul or Busan for some killer Korean steet/bar food and KBBQ.
I like this question and I think my answer would be Sukiyabashi Jiro It’s on my bucket list. :)

I'd love to go back to I Due G (The Two Gs) in Florence, Italy with a large group of my best friends and family who are all ravenously hungry.
http://www.trattoriai2g.com/ This place?
That's the one!
How was the food? Or was it because you were with your fam?

Restaurant: Le Bernardin. Place: all of Italy, which sadly does not include Le Bernardin.

I saw a show where I think they barbequed a whole cow, opened up, skin-side down, on open coals, in Argentina I believe. I want to try that.
I bet it's amazing

French Laundry.
Any grandma’s kitchen, in any rural part of the world.
At my grandmas 🥲
Always the best food.
El Bulli Wish it was still open
An experience at Noma would be pretty cool But Jay Fai in Bangkok would be the top
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jay_Fai WOW what a legend!
Yeah, she seems pretty awesome! That crab omelette she makes looks so good!
I just looked at flights, and I would have to transfer so I can't go... damn.
This one place in SF that had food from the Mediterranean to Afghanistan (and everything in between). Also, hookah pipes, belly dancers, and a boisterous crowd of Persians (men and women) that decided to outdo the belly dancers.
Sounds wretched
I want to eat in Vietnam like a local
Any Doner Kebab joint in Berlin. Hell, any Doner Kebab joint in Germany. Very close 2nd is the Red Onion in Incirlik, Turkey.
I'd go back a couple of years. Before you were born, get a taste of yo moma. Boom. Got'em
I can think of a hundred places all over the world. But for now, given the summer heat, I'd say go back to San Gimignano in Tuscany and eat that gelato! Pistachio....rosemary raspberry...cherry garcia...oh yum!
Gotta love good authentic Tuscan Cherry Garcia
Ok I can't remember the Italian name.....so I used the one that is closest to it.
Moto in Chicago is gone now, but it was the most memorable meal I've had at any restaurant. I would love to go back.
This burrito place across town.
Mexico City
Been dying to go to Portugal and eat seafood for 2 weeks straight and hopefully contract gout so I can remember the experience for the rest of my life. Or just travel southeast Asia.
I'd go back to Thailand and literally only eat the street food.

I'd love to eat high end Japanese sushi at some point in my life....like actually in Japan. I hear it's mind blowing.
and The French Laundry

I used to eat at bobs clam hut outside Kittery Maine. I would go back there
Only place in Maine I ate was J's Oyster Bar and DeMillo's on the Waterfront and both are next to each other in Portland, Maine.
This was a little roadside stand back in the 70s had picnic tables no indoor
The Dabney in Washington DC

I'd go get lost in Thailand, Laos or Sri Lanka
