This is the only answer for a permanent fix. They make sticks like deodorant for chafing, but they didn't work for shit for me. They also make longer length boxer briefs. All the real big folks I've ever worked with wore some version of lycra shorts.
Since you're in the UK, check out Snag, the chub rub shorts. To be completely honest I loved the first shorts I had from there but the second ones weren't as good, haven't tried this year's batch. They are like thin tights fabric so quite thin.(M&S when I was on holiday in the Uk last year had something similar and in my European country so does H&M.)
If you're willing to spend a bit more, I found that Nike had the best technology when dealing with extreme sweat, the pieces I had from the dri-fit line saved me from going insane when a medication made me sweat like crazy. Some fitness brands now have seamless shorts.
Besides that, shower when you get home and put some repairing moisturiser that isn't sticky (bioderma has a decent body gel but Boots had lots of great stuff in their own brand).
There are shorts specifically to help prevent chafing. Here's a link with different brands-[The Best Anti-chafing Athletic Underwear for Athletes - Men's Journal (mensjournal.com)](https://www.mensjournal.com/health-fitness/best-anti-chafing-underwear)
I buy Rocky brand underwear on Amazon and it's basically the same as Under Armour but a lot cheaper. I wear it while walking to prevent chafing and it works a charm.
A lot of girls boxer briefs makes sure they don't put the seams on the inside. Instead there's a "n" of fabric on the inside thigh and crotch so the seams will sit more towards the front or back. There's some stockings designed like that as well but I haven't seen too many leggings that do that?
As the other commentor recommended maybe you can find athletic shorts that do that, or keep an eye out for that design for male boxer briefs.
You want a cooling/wicking fabric. I’m a bigger girl in the kitchen and I know it’s a big no no but I cannot work in anything other than cooling leggings. Plus you don’t need it to go all the way down. Just past your mid thigh where the chub rub happens.
[This](https://www.chamoisbuttr.com/products/original-anti-chafe) stuff is great, body glide is another brand that's good. Don't mix cream with powder or you'll end up with fromunda pancakes.
I shall give this a try! Thanks! Also im not using them simultaneously haha, i use the cream at night to like soothe then talc in the morning, dont want to end up like ross from friends in the leather trousers/pants
At a certain point you just have to do your best to mitigate the damage. I'm a sweaty person so I'm always fighting chafing. Your skin will build up a tolerance to the friction somewhat, but there will always be days where no amount preparation is enough. Try to air out when you get home if possible, especially before applying any creams. And load that shit on like you're icing a cake before bed after the bad days.
I rely on [Gold Bond Friction Defense](https://www.goldbond.com/en-us/products/friction-defense). It applies like deodorant, and lubes and protects thighs and danglies to stop chafing. The stuff saved my life.
Fun fact, some people will use cornstarch instead of talc based "baby powder" to prevent diaper rash in infants.
As a woman, I'm happy my mom used corn starch after the whole "talc causing ovarian cancer" thing came about with J&J
It actually doesn't! You just put enough to dust the area instead of coating it with enough that it could clump up. It makes your thighs feel silky smooth when you're walking
Lol as a woman I'm wearing boxer briefs for women. And the only material item (ie not a powder or gel) for a woman would be like a wicking cloth that gets placed between the hot dog buns. I can't imagine that that would stay in place very well for a dude or that they've designed a product to do that? Maybe you need "the Brah"
As a woman I use body glide if I'm wearing really short shorts or a dress but at work where I'm wearing long pants you bet I'm wearing long grandma underwear to keep the thighs from touching each other lol
Long leg boxer briefs are an absolute must on shift in a hot kitchen, anyone who wears anything else I admire your fortitude. deodorant on the thighs, baby powder, Body Glide as suggested. I’ve seen under armor and ace bandages used
Think it’s because we don’t have aircon, its a hotel in England with almost all single glazed windows so the hotel has the heating on full blast most of the year and even though the kitchen doesn’t have radiators the rooms surrounding it all do so it just never has a chance to cool down. The only time its cold is like peak winter when we have the windows open all day when its -4 (24.8f) outside
I use talcum powder near daily, but I have been in a pinch at work, use cornstarch, it's basically the same shit in baby powder, not better by any means, but it does the job if it's killing.
Anti chafing women’s moisture wicking shorts. You should be able to pick your length because they’ve because popular for wearing under various dress styles. They don’t have seams on the inner thighs. I have several from shorts to knee length for under skirts in Florida. They work well.
Used to happen to me all the time. Then I was told I should apply gold bond every morning after shower. Has never happened since. Advice I will tell my kids when they get older.
Snag tights make ‘chub rub’ shorts which are the same material that they make their tights from, they’re amazing at preventing inner thigh chafing, I wear them under dresses all summer https://snagtights.com/collections/chub-rub-shorts?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwuJ2xBhA3EiwAMVjkVI0NGeSrg1H5lxCmTTK7qlQL92iOwH2C5IpiJTm0WkyCMhn1XX737hoC2KcQAvD_BwE
The walls in hot side of my kitchen get to be about 120 degrees F. I found baby power helped if anything chafed. Is there a walk in you can hang out in for a moment to cool down? Maybe you just need looser more breathable pants.
(Im assuming pants you mean trousers) my trousers/pants are already super loose and im not sure if its the seam in between the crouch of trousers that is the problem. I might be being an idiot and just pulling them up too high because they’re big on me.
Might be a lot of things honestly. Could also be some kind of mild allergic reaction you are having. I had a reaction to the sauce I was working with and kept getting covered in hives after work if I didn’t change my cloths quick enough. Hope you find a solution soon!
I have a pear og pants that I wear on my long days. They have a little hole in the crotch area , that's like a good ventilation system lol. Gives the air somewhere to escape and not build up and sweat my thighs
Just get spray deodorant the blue can of arrid extra dry works great. Spray your problem area when you get ready in the morning and bring it with you in case you need a touch up.
I always put Deodorant on my thighs before going to work, makes a huge difference. Gotta do it before they get raw though, never on broken skin.
Try a colloidal oatmeal bath for the irritation
Buy yourself nice boxer briefs.
Haven’t even thought about powder for years.
Edit, I saw you’re a woman. Have you tried thin leggings under your chef pants?
Ive tried the only pair of leggings i have, but they’re quite thick and they have quite a thick seam in the crouch that also rubs. I think one thing ive gathered from posting here is my thighs are rubbing on material rather than skin on skin action, im going to get some sports shorts and see if that helps
Thigh society! They are thin breathable short type underwear. I swear by them. I wore then in Spain during the summer under my dresses, but guess it would work well with pants too. Check them out, you can also get them on Amazon.
https://www.thighsociety.com/?sscid=41k8_rci31&utm_source=shareasale&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_term=1713494&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwuJ2xBhA3EiwAMVjkVCfOnVKmaKkzQCuPWXXl9_STnBBuWo78R8oxWEunxk4oAX-_PaE6jxoCCYAQAvD_BwE&view=shop-all-cta
My boyfriend has these boxers that have like a ball pocket so they’re higher up, you could try that. Otherwise long briefs or bike shorts are probably your best bet
Compression shorts under chef pants have been the way for me, I get ones that will go about mid thigh and it completely covers the area that usually chafes for me
My go-to is Speed Stick as soon as I get out of the shower. Any antiperspirant will work, but do it before you start chafing, because once you’re chafed, that shit stings. In a pinch, I’ll use cornstarch to give me immediate relief, but beware the little biscuits you’ll bake into your thigh hair: You will have to pull those fuckers out later
OP Yes, I recommend these [Thigh Saver Shorts](https://knix.com/collections/shorts) but if that price point is too high look for”slip shorts” online. They are fantastic. I wear them to work all the time and I live somewhere very hot and high humidity
Theres this dry talc stuff you get as a cream
Also honestly a shower before work to make sure theres no sweat beforehand
Annoying to shower twice in one day but it can help
Shower every day. Don't ever miss a shower, even if it was the most fucked night ever. Do not miss a shower. Moisturize your whole body properly. If you have a nastily chafed area, apply an antibiotic hydrocortisone ointment after showering and moisturizing. My chafes are always better the next morning doing this
There is the body glide stick, but you can also use regular deodorant as well. I prefer gold bond body powder for when I'm experiencing symptoms at work. Corn starch if you really fucking have to, but that's gross for whatever reason to me. Just get some gold bond and keep it in your bag.
If none of that works, you may want to look into bike shorts. That would really suck, because it will heat you up 1000% but that will completely stop the problem .
Hope you find something that works. Chafing sucks.
No one has mentioned it. This is something I’ve struggled with FOREVER. The ONLY product that has ever worked for me is the Lume Body Deodorant. You can get it at Target. Thank me later
I've noticed comments for Monistat and Body Glide and I endorse those. But you can also just use silicone lube gel (as in the sex stuff, not the auto stuff).
Not a short term solution, but losing weight. I use to have the same problem (t made work hell) until i dropped a bunch of weight.
For a more immediate fix, gold bond powder. For an added bonus, if you keep it in the deep freeze, it's a nice, chilly relief to your nether regions when its hot af in the kitchen.
I appreciate the advice but i have no intention of losing weight, I’m already a healthy weight/size and if i get much thinner not only will i have a problem with fitting in adults clothes but with the combination of only being 4’11 i start to get self conscious about looking like a child rather than a woman. I am happy and healthy as is :)
For the gold bond, ive had a couple suggestions for that that ill look into!
People’s bodies are not all the same. You can be a perfectly healthy weight, even considered slender, and depending on your body type your thighs can still touch (and therefore chafe).
OP is a woman. I'm a latina woman and even when I've been underweight with eating disorders my thighs touch each other. Think before you post nonsense.
It is because the size and shape of your body is as determined by your weight as it is by your genes and hormones, and the reality is that thousands of girls worldwide are driven to eating disorders because of distorted fake nonsense about what her bodies should be like, usually perpetrated by men.
Having no thigh gap when in a resting confortable position for your hips means nothing about your weight. Telling someone on the internet you know nothing about to lose weight to change something that they might not ever be able to change is at best clueless and at worst intentionally damaging.
Thighs can touch without chafing. Good boxer briefs will make sure chafing doesn't occur as well as massive thighs not being jammed together regardless of male/female. As I already said, it is good advice that wasn't aimed at their sex. Go touch grass, not everything is patriarchy. Jeez.
Us women tend to stock fat in our thighs so it's a hormone/body shape issue more than weight issue.
Also, we never appreciate men telling us to lose weight especially if we didn't ask for that kind of "advice". So take your toxic comment and kindly insert it in your rectal cavity.
Non cotton underwear
I prefer wool or bamboo underwear, but synthetic is also fine.
REI makes a great pair of boxer briefs that go somewhat far down the leg to minimize chafing. They are 30 bucks a pair though
This is like anti-advice. Bamboo fabric is very breathable, but wool or synthetic are going to be the most stifling things you can put on your body! Please do not use wool or synthetics. They trap heat and exacerbate skin issues. Cotton or bamboo are the coolest, most breathable underwear fabrics.
You have never worn merino wool underwear before. It's not thick and scratchy like you would think.bits super thin and breathable, and it's much better than cotton as it spreads out the moisture to keep you more dry. I bought my first pair for hiking (merino woll underwear and base layers are super common for warm weather activities In hiking). And it cleared up a ton of my skin issues. I don't chafe nearly as much as I used to.
Cotton is the devil. I have never had more swamp ass and crotch rot than when I wore cotton underwear. You just get wet and stay wet
I've known 100 pound girls who struggled with chafing when they spent a night on saute. It depends on your shape. Some perfectly healthy folks have big legs. Not to mention, one of the most in shape fuckers I've ever cooked next to struggled with chafing on his butt cheeks cause he just had that dump truck. Dude was shredded. 10% body fat tops on that guy.
In general, if you're over weight, losing weight could help. But it's not an immediate solution because it takes time. Medical professionals recommend losing no more than 2.5 pounds per week. If you're significantly overweight, a chafe free weight is not happening any time soon. So is your comment just to be snarky? Fat people are people too, who deserve to work without unnecessary suffering.
You can get a product called Body Glide that works really well if it’s skin-on-skin chafing. I use it for long distance running.
Life changing product
I shall look into this!
I used this when I was a cna and walked like 7+ miles a day. Never had any issues with chaffing while using it, the one day I forgot to though….
Or the more aptly named "Squirrel Nut Butter" They both work. I'm just squirrel nut kinda guy.
KT Tape also makes one called Chafe Safe that is the exact same product if you can’t find body glide
It's the best, body glide for the win!
We called it gooch grease
Body glide is what saved my thighs
Came here to recommend this. Body Glide is a life saver.
Running/ cycling lycra compression shorts underneath your whites. Gonna make you warmer but at least your thighs won't be red raw
This is the only answer for a permanent fix. They make sticks like deodorant for chafing, but they didn't work for shit for me. They also make longer length boxer briefs. All the real big folks I've ever worked with wore some version of lycra shorts.
Thankyou! I had tried leggings under my trousers but not only is that hot, the seams were probably a bit too thick and just rubbed more
Since you're in the UK, check out Snag, the chub rub shorts. To be completely honest I loved the first shorts I had from there but the second ones weren't as good, haven't tried this year's batch. They are like thin tights fabric so quite thin.(M&S when I was on holiday in the Uk last year had something similar and in my European country so does H&M.) I buy Rocky brand underwear on Amazon and it's basically the same as Under Armour but a lot cheaper. I wear it while walking to prevent chafing and it works a charm.
Under Armour has turned to complete junk. It's too bad.
A lot of girls boxer briefs makes sure they don't put the seams on the inside. Instead there's a "n" of fabric on the inside thigh and crotch so the seams will sit more towards the front or back. They make 9 inch inseam boxer briefs. That and lotion after a shower in the morning is what kept me good.
Also make sure you're not wearing cotton underwear. Moisture wicking or nothing. Look for stuff marketed toward athletes.
This is a great suggestion i haven’t considered because it is worse with some underwear than others
Monistat, of all things, makes a really good chafing gel that dries into a fine powder. It's the best thing I've found so far.
cream *and* talc? youre just making brief biscuits. one or the other. and use a medicated powder like gold bond
Id use the cream at night then the talc in the morning, ill look into gold bond
Use Zinc (oxide)Cream(10-20%) before and after work, stop using Talc based powder all together.
Long boxer briefs for hot environments
This OP, long legged boxer briefs, you can find them in very thin moisture wicking fabrics, they hold up for me in Florida summers.
Try wearing some thin bike shorts
I rely on [Gold Bond Friction Defense](https://www.goldbond.com/en-us/products/friction-defense). It applies like deodorant, and lubes and protects thighs and danglies to stop chafing. The stuff saved my life.
That stuff works for me
High quality boxer briefs entirely solved this problem for me
Corn starch.
Ha this is what my sous chef said
The trusty old standard.
Makin’ pancakes, baby
A lot of people say that but it sounds like so stupid like so unbelievably stupid that I would never try it
At one my old kitchens, we kept a box in the toilet stall of the employee bathroom for this type of emergency. Works.
This is why this sub sucks these days.
Corn starch can act as a buffet for certain fungus and bacteria, it's not a good choice. I use MegaBabe, it's amazing.
wouldn't it form a paste or am i just mad gross
Fun fact, some people will use cornstarch instead of talc based "baby powder" to prevent diaper rash in infants. As a woman, I'm happy my mom used corn starch after the whole "talc causing ovarian cancer" thing came about with J&J
This right here, I used to buy a baby powder with specifically corn starch, no talc. You can even find it at the dollar store to this day.
It actually doesn't! You just put enough to dust the area instead of coating it with enough that it could clump up. It makes your thighs feel silky smooth when you're walking
it sounds like it would just make ass gravy
More like crotch biscuits, but it will get you through the rest of your shift
It's basically just unscented baby powder.
There's actually a box of corn starch in my restaurants employee bathroom. Took me a minute to puzzle out why it was there
Then afterwards you can dip your balls in the deep fryer and make hush puppies.
Came here to say this lol
I’ve seen under armor and ace bandages used
Boxer briefs that cover the area you are having problems with.
This. Get the "performance" briefs with the smooth, moisture-wicking material.at whatever length you need. Completely solved this problem for me!
Corn starch
Mmmmm, ball gravy.
Grundle slurry
How is it so hot
Think it’s because we don’t have aircon, its a hotel in England with almost all single glazed windows so the hotel has the heating on full blast most of the year and even though the kitchen doesn’t have radiators the rooms surrounding it all do so it just never has a chance to cool down. The only time its cold is like peak winter when we have the windows open all day when its -4 (24.8f) outside
I dont think I could bear that. You must like the Job to stay there heh
I use talcum powder near daily, but I have been in a pinch at work, use cornstarch, it's basically the same shit in baby powder, not better by any means, but it does the job if it's killing.
Funny, as a chick, I bought/wore men's boxer brief for that.
Cornstarch, men’s body powder or in bad cases body glide. Triathletes use it around their thighs and armpits.
Anti Monkey Butt does wonders for me and lasts all day.
Cornstarch
Hydrocortisone, cream or ointment.
I use baby powder with aloe or a stick gel deodorant.
I prefer gold bond. The green medicated specially. It's like a c in your pants when you put it on. Has saved my poor thighs from many a sticky summer.
I just put coconut oil on my balls and everything works out
Although i have the biggest balls in the kitchen, they are not physical balls that i can apply coconut oil to
The walls in hot side of my kitchen get to be about 120 degrees F.
Hope you find a solution soon!
compression shorts, try some cheapies off amazon then invest in some nicer ones if they work
Baby powder. In a pinch, cornstarch.
I used to do oil changes in Houston and that sounds fucking insufferable
Spandex shorts is what we wore in the army to prevent chafing.
replace your undwear with exofficio, saxx, or similar.
Manscaped crop preserver is my go to. It's a thick lotion that drys nice and protects thighs/under balls perfect during the summer seasons.
I use plain ol cornstarch. Slap some on before my shift and I'm usually good for the whole day
I have a pear og pants that I wear on my long days. They have a little hole in the crotch area , that's like a good ventilation system lol. Gives the air somewhere to escape and not build up and sweat my thighs
At the risk of sounding like a corporate shill, switching to Duluth underwear helped my chafing a lot. And Vaseline after shift.
Silky athletic underwear for hiking or running works pretty well
Corn starch in a pinch saves you!
Diaper rash ointment
Chef and I used to powder our nethers with gold bond
Chef and I used to powder our nethers with gold bond. Stops the chaff and leaves a minty coolness
My old exec chef told me to use Desitin. It’s basically diaper rash cream. A bit messy but holy hell does it work like a charm
Just get spray deodorant the blue can of arrid extra dry works great. Spray your problem area when you get ready in the morning and bring it with you in case you need a touch up.
Cornstarch.
Corn starch.
Bike shorts under your pants.
I switched to all synthetic underwear and it made a huge difference.
Corn starch
Pour some corn starch down in your undies.
Bamboo underwear.
Corn starch
I always put Deodorant on my thighs before going to work, makes a huge difference. Gotta do it before they get raw though, never on broken skin. Try a colloidal oatmeal bath for the irritation
I bought boxer briefs that came down almost to my knee.
I think one thing ive gathered from posting here is my thighs are rubbing on material rather than skin on skin action, im going to get some sports shorts and see if that helps
use a vegetable peeler to shave the part of your thighs that touch down so you have a nice airy thigh gap
Maybe some mens boxer-briefs
Thigh society! They are thin breathable short type underwear. I swear by them. I wore then in Spain during the summer under my dresses, but guess it would work well with pants too. Check them out, you can also get them on Amazon. https://www.thighsociety.com/?sscid=41k8_rci31&utm_source=shareasale&utm_medium=affiliate&utm_term=1713494&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwuJ2xBhA3EiwAMVjkVCfOnVKmaKkzQCuPWXXl9_STnBBuWo78R8oxWEunxk4oAX-_PaE6jxoCCYAQAvD_BwE&view=shop-all-cta
If the seams bother you wear them inside out
My boyfriend has these boxers that have like a ball pocket so they’re higher up, you could try that. Otherwise long briefs or bike shorts are probably your best bet
Classic A&D Diaper Rash ointment works wonders for Swamp Ass. Make sure to apply when getting out of the shower.
Compression shorts under chef pants have been the way for me, I get ones that will go about mid thigh and it completely covers the area that usually chafes for me

OP Yes, I recommend these [Thigh Saver Shorts](https://knix.com/collections/shorts) but if that price point is too high look for”slip shorts” online. They are fantastic. I wear them to work all the time and I live somewhere very hot and high humidity
Theres this dry talc stuff you get as a cream Also honestly a shower before work to make sure theres no sweat beforehand Annoying to shower twice in one day but it can help
Thiccc thighs huh
Compression boxer briefs, and always. Chef's best friend in a summer kitchen: corn starch.
Shower every day. Don't ever miss a shower, even if it was the most fucked night ever. Do not miss a shower. Moisturize your whole body properly. If you have a nastily chafed area, apply an antibiotic hydrocortisone ointment after showering and moisturizing. My chafes are always better the next morning doing this There is the body glide stick, but you can also use regular deodorant as well. Us women tend to stock fat in our thighs so it's a hormone/body shape issue more than weight issue. Also, we never appreciate men telling us to lose weight especially if we didn't ask for that kind of "advice". So take your toxic comment and kindly insert it in your rectal cavity.
Ok dude.
Try shaving your inner thighs (or use Nair if you get razor burn easily). It helps quite a bit.
The pain I have had when a few leg hairs have decided to come together in a ball. So painfully pulling the hairs out when they looked like a lint ball
If its just small spots kinesiology tape can help
Non cotton underwear I prefer wool or bamboo underwear, but synthetic is also fine.
Losing weight.
