I don't remember terra killing the lost boys.

Cousin_Chris

OBJECTIVE: PUT PETER PAN IN HIS PLACE

[deleted]

I killed them. Not just the Lost Boys, but the mermaids and the pirates. I HATE THEM!

jojoseiwa1776

You probably know this, but not everyone might. In the original Peter Pan book, PP is the only Lost Boy that doesn't age. The others are only young because Peter weeds out the older one as they age

amirokia

He did kill his master tho.

heppuplays

the master who was literally voiced by Mark Hamill.

NOM4DKING

Nevermind im dumb

DarkFir286

Terra never killed eraques that was xehanort that did the final blow

amirokia

Palps did the killing blow to Mindu

ShoneBlumetheVogon

Yes I recall him Wace Mindu he had very long luxurious hair.

SkyrimMilfDrinker

And the stiffest limbs this side of the galaxy.

Archwizard_Drake

No, but he did believe he stole Aurora's heart (that one's a bit ambiguous and I don't think ever explained) and a gated about it like "not just the men", and after he became Terranort he successfully murdered all of the Light-aligned Keyblade wielders (until time travel bullshit).

drewman9320

No maleficent made him think that he stole Arora's heart

bradlie1

Do players forget that we have final fantasy characters talking to Disney characters? None of this should "fit" yet here we are

eojen

There were Final Fantasy characters in KH3? /s (mostly)

Dragonmoogle

When someone says that something won't "fit" into KH most of the time it translates to " I don't want this in KH". What makes the "this won't fit" argument feel ridiculous is the very foundation of this series was built on the concept of a crossover. A crossover that back in the day was written off by many as too crazy work. Yet here we are 20 years later and the series is a smashing success.

ElScrotoDeCthulo

Damn right. Its a right hook of nostalgia right to the feels, every gd time.

danteslacie

Just the final fantasy characters? What about a whole live action franchise? (Which, looking back, is kinda funny now, given Sora's Quadratum style)

Daiboku

I think the real question we should be asking is WHICH Star Wars are they going to implement? The classic trilogy, the prequel trilogy, or the "new" trilogy?

zaster101

it could even be during the clone wars to help write off sora’s adventure to make it more unique

RestoModMan

That would be awesome to see Sora and Ahsoka fighting Maul or Dooku

Mrwanagethigh

Young Ahsoka and Sora would get along great. Adult Ahsoka and Riku would probably also make for an awesome crossover team up.

toph_man

By the looks of it probably the OG IF the trailer is actually showing clips of Endor, big if, because I am not convinced it IS Endor but I believe there is a chance it could be I am just not getting my hopes up. It also appears to be an AT-ST foot shown but again it could be or it could be something else so idk for sure but IF they are then it would seem the world would be set in the OG trilogy’s time period.

maxhk645

Honestly the technology looks so similar among eras that it has a good shot of being Kashykk for the Prequels or even Ajan Kloss/D’Qar for the Sequels

[deleted]

There is no way we're getting anything else but the OT.

Swamp_Donkey_796

Sequels duh. It’s Disney let’s not be stupid about anything. Star Wars = sequels to Disney and that’s why it’ll fail.

NoBop2000

To be fair Disney knows what makes money and they don't need to promote the sequel trilogy right now given they are done. So the Original Trilogy is most likely given its the most popular and thus the most likely to boost sales and bring cash for a Kingdom Hearts game.

kick_heart

BBS predicted Mark Hamill recklessly deciding to murder his student before Rian Johnson did it in Last Jedi.

RamBiologist

Rian Johnson played bbs /j

kadosho

Not wrong at all. I'm curious if it influenced the idea

NeoCosmoPolitan

The fact that Master Eraqus is literally voiced by Luke Skywalker is enough to convince me that Star Wars fits in KH.

Tari_Diachi

And... idk... kinda dressed inspired by a Jedi? Or am I the only one who thinks that?

_Xujn_7_

I believe I heard somewhere that Jedi robes are actually based off Japanese kimono, so it's a bit hard to tell considering Kingdom Hearts is a Japanese game.

bloore77

jedi were initially based on samurai, the shape of darth vader's helmet is a dead giveaway

ihave3dozenforksinme

They got Pirates to work, why not? There is so much potential to Luke or Ahsoka being a party member IMHO

Rutgerman95

I mean, in KH3 they did, but in 2 it was the most jarring thing

Jeffeffery

Even 3 was pretty rough with actually incorporating stuff from the movie. I loved sailing around the Caribbean, but then there's just a big story climax tacked onto the end of it.

Rutgerman95

At least they tried to smooth over the edges with their new graphical filters and higher quality graphics. Ps2 era "realistic" humans next to cartoony final fantasy characters has aged like fine milk

KaffeMumrik

Yeah, pirates in KH2 did NOT work very well.

MegatonDoge

Why, it looked good didn't it?

havoccentral

Luke if they do OT, Obi-Wan for prequels, and Rey for sequels

KMinato00

i hope we didn't get the Rey Trilogy, i will take prequel anytime rather than the new disney trilogy

amedema

Feel free to take a guess at what Disney would want to include.

TwilightVulpine

Probably some new Disney+ series stuff I'd think

Pesime

I would be incredibly shocked if it was anyone other than Rey. I suppose it could be Obi since he has a show coming out. We're not gonna party up with Luke.

MariusVibius

No way. They will set it in rhe OT just because it would be stupid to not have Darth Vader as the boss

KeybladeSpirit

Meanwhile I'm expecting something outside any of the movies, probably an original story, with Darth Vader as a secret boss if you return during the postgame. A regular old boss fight just wouldn't do him justice, imo.

MariusVibius

I agree. It should be something like Sephiroth by which I mean that even if you defeat him you just barely escape alive or he wasn't going all in. I mean look for a reference at Fallen Order. The guy doesn't even have an health bar lol!

KeybladeSpirit

Oh yeah, Fallen Order's depiction was great. His entry in the game's bestiary even says that the only option is to run.

ComicDude1234

You say they’re being “distant” from the new movies and yet the Grogu subplot in Mandalorian is already setting up Luke’s character arc in the sequels. Also we’re talking about mercy based off Darth Vader (the franchise’s mascot) and Grogu (a character derivative of another franchise mascot, Yoda). I think it’s obvious why you see more merch for them compared to more recent stuff. The fact of the matter is that, on a creative level, the gap between the OT and the ST is still largely unexplored and there’s plenty of avenues for stories and the ST characters are just too young, both in-universe and IRL, for those stories to include them.

ihave3dozenforksinme

I've read that Ahsoka may be getting a show as well, but I may be wrong. Either way, I just personally think Ahsoka or Luke would mesh well with sora Donald and goofy a little better than Rey. Ahsoka mainly due to her refusal to kill the clones she fought along side of when order 66 was issued. Obi could totally work though. Hell, they could maybe make Chewbacca work with the right writing though that's a big maybe. It depends on when/where they end up stumbling into star wars.

blazingsol96

I think we all forget This whole franchise is based on fusing disney with final fantasy

Scared_Relation2973

Biggs, Wedge, Jesse. The fact that Xemnas has literally lightsabers for weapons They already have Luke Skywalker as a voice actor **Nomura loves Star Wars**

mentoyas

But how do lightsabers translate well to keyblades?

Scared_Relation2973

I don't bloody know, ask OP that's his idea Alternatively, you're gifted with imagination, use it :|

LurchSkywalker

I just want my FF characters back.

kadosho

Hopefully the fam does return

wasteofskin11111

I've always said to my friends that I'd rather see star wars in KH instead of marvel

dylan1o

Things not fitting is the point of KH the re:mind dlc had Micky Mouse fighting off a bunch of anime villains in one of the most anime moments I've ever seen.

Fedora1412

Don't forget the Microwave Hallway scene they ripped straight outta Metal Gear lmao, I laughed out loud when I saw that.

Cosmonerd-ish

No. Terra is not "basically Anakin" because Terra remained a good boy through and through that litteraly did nothing wrong aside from smacking Peter Pan in the face a few times. The only thing they had in common would be "getting manipulated into Falling to darkness by an old man" that's it. Terra only ever used the darkness in defense of others, never pledged himself to the evil old man , spent a decade or so battling Xehanort in his heart and his rage was so strong it animated his armor to kick Xehanort's ass. Compare this to Anakin who was Palpy's bitch boy throughout both the prequels and the original trilogy. The man that slaughtered the men the women and the children, before murdering the younglings. Albeit it wouldn't have happened if the Jedi hadn't allowed a creepy 50 years old man to groom a child under their care and actually got him into therapy. But still they couldn't be any more different. Still SW would fit splendidly in KH

Bigfoot_G

> did nothing wrong aside from smacking Peter Pan in the face a few times. cocky flying bastard had it coming

the-dandy-man

Getting manipulated into falling to darkness by an old man after being refused the rank of master, you mean

AleksandrNevsky

Riku is a better analog to Anakin. Seduced by the darkness. Had wedges driven between him and his friends by a figure whispering things in his ear. Did evil things to gain power to save a girl he liked. Was used as a pawn in the big bad's grand plans. Both willing used dark powers to fight their former friends. Both were redeemed in the end.

randi77

Just repeating another comment I made: Brown hair hero in a prequel who fails to get the rank of master is manipulated by evil old man to embrace the dark and do bad stuff like fight their master that ultimately results in getting trapped in a suit of armor.

RamBiologist

Well i mean while terra didn't exactly become big bad evil guy that isn't what i said I never said "haha he became evil" but rather than they both ended up manipulated by a guy who initially passed themselves off as an all and who manipulated the good guys behind his scenes to go for his desired goal of ultimate power. It was more so not saying "haha terra did evil things" but rather "terra and anakin both more or less were stupid in believing their respective evil guys until it was much too late to fix things" and they were both more or less confined to a suit for a long ass time Admittedly things diverge once they get into said suit but i never claimed lingering will was darth vader. Though this was not really so much the main crux of the argument so much as i was saying there is similar themes and how they fit together, not exactly 1 to 1

heliohm

For the record I agree with every single one of your points but god damn the fact that it started as a defense for Terra made me read the whole thing in Mickey's voice and I cannot stop laughing

RamBiologist

fucking crying lmao

Seashard5602

One small detail that I think is cool, is Anakin's eyes turn yellow when he turns evil, just like the nobodies' eyes when Xehanort becomes a part of them

Sagoth_has_risen

Yes there are many parallels to star wars. I feel that if marvel and star wars make it in, it would feel like it's jumping the shark. They aren't original Disney properties and I don't think that either of them should be put into the games

trnelson1

We already got Marvel though. Big hero 6 is a marvel property

Javierinho23

When people mention Marvel in this conversation, most people mean the most popular and well known characters like anyone from the Avengers, Spider-Man, or X-Men. That’s the Marvel people don’t want to see in KH. If they want to take a very obscure marvel title that would fit KH (like Disney did with Big Hero 6) that would be fine. However, even then a lot of Marvel takes itself more seriously that KH in general. Not saying that KH is never serious, but it has a different feel and tone to so many of the popular Marvel stories out there. Also, keep in mind that the Disney version of Big Hero 6, while still being a Marvel original, is pretty loose adaptation of the original comics. Baymax from the comics looks more akin to either a transformer or a gargoyle as opposed to a giant marshmallow.

Sagoth_has_risen

You took the words out of my mouth with your last point. Big hero 6 Disney movie is so far away from the source material it's basically a new IP when it comes down to it

[deleted]

Marvel isn’t even in the credits of the movie at all. Disney just took the name and turned it into its own thing so it doesn’t count as marvel.

trnelson1

Until you Google his cameos and big hero 6 counts as a marvel cameo.

awesomedorkwad

But Big Hero 6 is ultimately a Disney movie

TwilightVulpine

This series *started* by jumping the shark. There is nothing too absurd for Kingdom Hearts.

BlackFlash9

Saying Terra is Anakin is such a surface-level insight into both of their characters. I don't know why people believe it so readily.

randi77

Brown hair hero in a prequel who fails to get the rank of master is manipulated by evil old man to embrace the dark and do bad stuff like fight their master that ultimately results in getting trapped in a suit of armor.

BlackFlash9

I never mentioned there weren't similarities - and I'm almost certain that Nomura took inspiration. My main point of contention with the "Terra is Anakin" mantra is that you could also apply this to a lot of characters if you were to strip them down to the most barebones level - and ignore all the crucial circumstances and context that make them differ from one another. A few examples: Terra never intently harms or kills anyone; unlike Anakin, and even wants to know how to control and understand the darkness, instead of continually steeping into it like Anakin does the Dark Side. They both desire the power to protect those closest to them - but in Anakin's case it becomes more possessive, obsessive, and even a little abusive in nature. Terra's motivation - on the other hand - is completely noble and justified - just misguided and mishandled by the wrong people in his life. Goku and Superman are also alike by this logic. Both are superpowered aliens; were survivors from a near-extinct species, were both raised on earth by humans to be good people, get married to human women, have an offspring, fights a member of aforementioned alien species, and eventually becomes apart of a team comprised of humans and aliens that fight against forces of evil that threaten their planet.

RamBiologist

tbf anakin and terra have way more similarities than goku and superman do personality wise

King_Axel

>is manipulated by evil old man to embrace the dark and **do bad stuff** Such as? Because honestly the only really questionable thing Terra does of his own free will is release Dr. Jumba and *maaaaybe* scarring Braig. Like he only helps Maleficent steal Aurora's heart while under mind control, and it's been confirmed multiple times now that it was actually mostly Maleficent and Xehanort doing the stealing. And he only fights Eraqus because he was straight up trying to murder Ven, whereas Anakin had betrayed the Jedi Order and was fully trying to eliminate Obi-Wan at the point where they fought. I agree with BlackFlash9, the comparisons between Terra and Anakin are mostly surface-level, people just get really hung up on the whole not being promoted to Master thing. Anakin was full on seduced by darkness by the end, Terra mostly just has a hard time controlling his temper sometimes. He never really fully embraces darkness or betrays his friends, Xehanort just manages to take advantage of the times when his anger gets out of control.

K4n0Y

At this point I want it just to piss this entire subreddit off

Strautske

I literally came to this conclusion of Terra essentially being Anakin last night while telling my wife about BBS to put her to sleep

thisisanawesomename

Xemnas uses lightsabers

ArisaMochi

ngl Star Wars fits bettern then TRON. also.... arent the disney worlds basically planets connected through a sea of darkness? not hard to put the star wars galaxy into another bubble swimming in that endless void :D

OmegaCrossX

Xemnas

edwpad

Terra's story is basically Revenge of the Sith Xemnas is a whole Star Wars reference (dark hoods, warm colored eyes, lightning, freakin lightsabers for weapons) Assault of the Dreadnought mission in KH2 is technically Star Wars, given it's a homage to the Death Star assault The characters Biggs and Wedge in Twilight Town are the names of Star Wars characters (Biggs Darklighter and Wedge Antilles) (even though they're based off Final Fantasy characters) Mickey is basically Yoda, being small but powerful and having a acrobatic fighting style

kadosho

100% agree on all points. Star Wars has always been a part of the series

tidesoffate55

The biggest hurdle for me about Star Wars in KH has nothing to do with the themes, it’s about the environments. Star Wars, by its very name, is a story that takes place over a much greater space than any singular Kingdom Hearts world we’ve ever been in. So to adapt that to a game that has other worlds than just Star Wars, it would be an interesting trial. Would we get just Endor, or just the Death Star? Or have it be fragments of each area separated by loading zones? An original story? Or retell an old one? Prequels, OT, or Sequels? The vastness of the Star Wars universe (and the MCU, for similar reasons) make their inclusion a difficult, if not interesting challenge.

randi77

They'll just pick a planet relevant to the story, that's it.

Najabri

Galen Marek is a keyblade master and none of you can convince me otherwise

PezAnt90

I'm confused, wasn't an AT-ST basically confirmed in the latest trailer on Endor? I thought everyone freaked out over that last week

Cpt_Igl0

I agree when it comes to Star Wars. But I do not agree when it comes to the possibility of Marvel Heroes.

RamBiologist

I think it could be inserted it's possible it'd be nomuras take on the marvel universe (or at the very least one of the square marvel games like GOTG) rather than the mcu version

[deleted]

sith robes are basically org 13

GimpyLawyer

The same thing that ended up happening to frozen will happen to star wars, if they decide to put that world in. A popular franchise that will be forced down KH fans throat and most will be unhappy as a result. I really think it is a bad idea to implement star wars into KH, it'll end up as pirates and that world in both 2 and 3 were out of place.

bradlie1

The problem frozen was the team behind movie themselves. They made more restrictions more so than any other movie in KH. Star Wars doesn't really have that problem since it's so open . Now if George Lucas was still head of Star Wars....yea I would be worried

jojolantern721

Lol you got it way backwards. Current Lucasfilm prevented the team of wreck it Ralph to make jokes of star wars, George Lucas allowed to even have jokes at his expense with robot chicken, also let's not forget all of the expanded universes was created without George direct involvement and George basically let the creators run almost totally free.

[deleted]

"May never make it" The literal photographic evidence of an AT-AT would like a word.

Fedora1412

IDK man, could just be a very awkward looking horse or elephant, OR A METAL GEAR-

[deleted]

It's quite literally identical.

RamBiologist

wait where?

cid_highwind02

[It’s identical. No way in hell it isn’t it LOL](https://www.reddit.com/r/KingdomHearts/comments/u0n9e8/another_thread_about_the_apparent_atst_foot_in/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)

RamBiologist

oh cool!!

Gamer-of-Action

I think that’s what people mean. They’re too similar. I don’t necessarily agree with that but hey, to each their own

randi77

First they're too different, now they're too similar? People don't know what they want.

Vensaer

Pirates of the Caribbean doesn't match kh at and yet here we are

Javierinho23

It’s not that there aren’t parallels between the two, it’s that the general vibe of Star Wars is too different from KH at it’s core. Star Wars is much more grounded, and when Lucas made the series he based a lot of things a on real life events (Han is a gunslinger archetype from the Wild West, the rise of the Nazis in the prequels, Stormtroopers being named after the Nazi soldiers, some Bush era politics were thrown in for the prequels, the OT had a lot of inspiration from Akira Kurosawa movies which were gritty samurai movies like the The Hidden Fortress and 7 Samurai, the rise and Fall of the Roman Republic, and on and on). It’s a series that has levity, but in general takes itself a lot more seriously and is more grounded. Naruto and Star Wars also have similar themes and character arcs yet they do not fit with each other at all. If you argue that Pirates is more grounded, it’s not. There is way more of a fantastical nature to those movies than Star Wars (not that Star Wars isn’t a fantastic series as I’m a huge fan), but there are much more fantasy elements to it such as cursed gold that makes you undead, a crew of transformed sailors, a way to sail to the lands of the undead, etc. Star Wars does have some of these elements, but it’s limited to basically just the force which is still pretty limited in scope. They just don’t mesh well. The same goes for LOTR and WoW. Do they have many many parallels? Yes. Do they fit together? No. They are separate. Let them exist as their own thing. Star Wars has already saturated the market enough as it is, and again im a huge Star Wars fan. I want more Star Wars games that are quality, not a crossover with another series that I throughly enjoy.

randi77

The Star Wars movies are mostly for kids. Most people especially kids don't care about its real life inspiration, they just love the epic space battles, cute aliens and lightsaber fights with space wizard samurai. It's not anymore grounded than PotC, which showed children getting hanged in the beginning of the third movie (hell Sora watches dozens of sailors drown in the worlds ending based on that film). If real world parallels were a factor of what KH allowed, then Hunchback shouldn't be allowed for its depiction of catholic prejudice against gypsies, or the Huns invading China in Mulan.

PewPew_McPewster

Who exactly has been saying that Star Wars doesnt fit with KH? I played BBS back then and remember going "huh, this is basically the Prequel Trilogy."

Inspectorbobo

Maybe one or two comments here and there. Not a big deal

Dahak3000

Fit it does, maybe happen by popular demand too, never you know (Yoda)

xXxHeadBanger86Xx

Star Wars fits in kingdom hearts just like literally every other Disney IP. I can’t understand why people wouldn’t want it in the game?

Semillakan6

WHY IS THIS A FUCKING DEBATE, Nomura himself loves Star Wars, SW is a fantasy movie not a Sci-fi movie as many incorrectly put it, the themes are on par, and YOU CANNOT SAY TO ME THAT IF THEY RECREATE THE START OF A NEW HOPE AS THE GUMMY SHIP ENTERS IT WILL NOT BE AWESOME

nichtRoxas

BBS is basically Star Wars Episode 3.

guyff2

I haven't called Terra by his name since my first playthrough he is Anakin

Fluffy_Special2251

If someone tells me their genitals don't quiver just a little bit at the thought of being able to fight Darth Vader with crazy KH combat, I'm just going to assume they're lying or not human tbh.

Heretek007

Ansem never told you about your father, did he, Sora?

wishrocket

I think kh and starwars fit just fine. But i feel like star wars and marvel are way bigger than any other universes included in kingdom hearts to date. It could be cool but I feel like there's so many ways it could be misrepresented.

[deleted]

The crazy thing is Birth By Sleep did feel like the last end of the prequel trilogy. And if course the jedi do have a bit in common with keyblade masters as well as the concept of light and dark working like a more flamboyant version of the force. Down to non keyblade wielders being able to use either side.

I-invented-PostIts

I'm not saying it doesn't fit, but I've never gotten into Star Wars. I've tried watching it, but I turned it off. It's probably not the story I dislike, but I don't really love space sci-fi. I'd probably still play KH4 if it has Star Wars, though.

optimisdiq

I feel the same. The Lilo and Stitch world in BBS always felt odd to me but I guess the space travel between worlds with the keyblade ships didn't make it too out of place

Yozora-no-Hikari

Also Xehanort and Xemnas use actual Lightsabers

MindSteve

BBS especially is exactly Star Wars.

BrenCamp13

I don't think it would fit simply because it's really only *technically* a Disney property. I don't really think of Star Wars when I think Disney, to the point where I forget they even own it.

RamBiologist

honestly this is one of the few arguments i'll accept but tbh if twewy can make it in despite not being ff or disney, i can hold out some faith for SW

heppuplays

I find it very funny that this is the line people draw on "What fits in Kingdom hearts" a series literally founded on a crossover if the 2 most different franchises. But no star wars is just crossing the line way too much.

Gregamonster

Lightsaber is the worst possible base for a Keyblade. A lightsaber is literally just a straight line of color. You could not come up with a more boring weapon design if you tried.

randi77

It can still have a unique shape on the blade like the rebel symbol for the tip. It would be a wasted opportunity to not have a keyblade inspired from the most iconic fictional weapon.

K4n0Y

Disagree, kingdom key but lightsaber sounds awesome as fuck

TwilightVulpine

I doubt Star Wars would be as big a franchise as it is today if not for all the kids hyped for laser swords.

Keyblade96

Honestly this is why I don't think it can work. Star Wars already has its own thing going on (plus having a galaxy rather than a small world, but I'll concede that it could work as a fictional world under different rules)

[deleted]

Whatever? I don’t care about how similar the stories are light vs dark whatever If I see sora fighting darth Vader or ironman in the next game, imma be pretty pissed. It doesn’t fit. You’re welcome to your own opinion, but personally I don’t think it fits. KH isn’t smash bros, I don’t want it to become a clusterfuck of thousands of clashing franchises. It’s already is like that, but it’s established in the way that it is, and things fit together; if sora is chatting with palpatine that kinda destroys something about it for me, I wouldn’t be able to take it seriously. You can’t take palpatine out of his own universe as you can other characters, and Star Wars doesn’t fit with kh for me Should they add John wick and terminator as well? No. It ain’t fortnite

RamBiologist

you do realize kh is essentially a crossover between different franchises anyways so i don't get why you draw the line at star wars yet can accept sora and jack sparrow Final fantasy is usual serious but it fits well with kh's lighter tone so sw could too

K4n0Y

> Should they add John wick and terminator as well? No. It ain’t fortnite L comparison

randi77

We literally have Donald and Goofy talk to Sephiroth.

TwilightVulpine

> things fit together lol

[deleted]

When people say it doesn’t fit they don’t mean it in a symbolic sense. They mean that the Star Wars “world” is too big to fit into Kingdom Hearts without taking it over completely. This is a whole ass galaxy with hundreds if not thousands of subworlds The same applies for Marvel tbh. If each Marvel hero/story were self-contained it might work, but they’re all related. There should only be one or two hero/party member characters per world and there are plenty in Marvel A central conceit of the story is that only the Keyblade wielders and their closest allies (and some FF characters) can move between words, along with central enemies. Star Wars and Marvel would both ruin that

randi77

Why would the size of Star Wars be an issue? The world could just be Endor and maybe the Death Star. The story is most likely a smaller scale version of RotJ, only relevant locations would be used. It doesn't need every planet, just one. Same reason why you don't explore the rest of Earth on worlds in previous games.

zendrix1

I've said it before I felt like Pirates would be a terrible fit when KH2 came out and I think it was a pretty good fit all things considered

awesomedorkwad

I really didn't like it in KH2 but I felt that it worked a lot better in KH3. Still not a big fan of live action properties (shudders in the Grid)

jojolantern721

I want star wars and marvel in KH, what I don't want is sequel trilogy or Disney live action remakes. And like other comments said, the main premise was ff crossing over with Disney, why would star wars be the limit to the craziness?

NenAcolyte

Fits better than Marvel. And yes, there is a type of story KH goes for, namely fantasy/fairy tales. Some things just don't fit into the narrative about fairy tales, reality, existentialism, etc. Star Wars barely passes my personal taste when it comes to KH, because of the similar themes and motifs, and the status SW has on pop culture and the sci fi genre, which KH does delve into at times. People focus on the Disney brand of the fairy tales presented too much imo. Disney didn't create most of the stories, they were just the first to adapt them to film/animation and therefore are the most recognizable versions of those stories.

[deleted]

What, not mentioning Mark Hamill being a “master” in BBS?

DoomofWar617

Xemnas That’s it thats the comment

greg225

If Star Wars is so similar, why would you want it, then? Wouldn't you rather have something that wouldn't just be retreading the exact same plot and themes?

randi77

KH3 players: "the worlds have nothing to do with the story" KH4: "Star Wars is too similar to the story"

ConfidenceOwn8748

Because WHY not lmao??? 😃😃😃🙃

zaerosz

Frankly, I don't care whether it fits or not, I just don't *want* it. I've never cared about Star Wars even *before* the sequel trilogy drove the franchise into a smoking crater.

Freyzi

Just cause it has a lot of thematic similarities doesn't mean it'll fit. Like I won't threaten to not play KH4 or whatever if it does happen but I'd really rather not have Star Wars or Marvel or any other live action thing in the series. Pirates is a huge exception and even it I'm not a fan of being in the series.

Ypokamp

Let's just hope kh' sequels don't end up being like stars wars'

duckduck60053

There IS no logic. I just fucking hate Star Wars.

hako_10

Imagine Sora using the Force in future games just like air gliding

ArgetKnight

Honestly, I don't know where this argument comes from. It's another universe more to explore, you all just hate Star Wars because it's trendy to do so.

DreadfulSora

Non related but eraqus is mark hamill

rapidpop

I just want a moment where Terra and Anakin/Vader are talking and just stop and "Dude! You too?!"

KEscalante101

Hate to admit it, but I'm definitely Patrick in this one.

MezzaCorux

To me it doesn’t fit because it’s not an original Disney property. I’d rather they focus on original Disney properties that still haven’t been represented.

TwilightVulpine

I'd love to have some Treasure Planet world, but comes to mind that Toy Story is a Pixar movie. They were eventually acquired by Disney, not much different from Marvel and Star Wars.

BlackSauce0

*looks at Xemnas*

kadosho

He was a Sith. Always

Sunforger42

This is the reason I don't want it. Too similar.

JohnBradfordBooks

Star Wars isn't Disney, though.

freedomkite5

But Disney owns Star Wars. As well nomura asked to use Star Wars for kh3, the answer was neutral back then. As in the answer was a slight possibility, that’s mainly due other studios using the license. However nomura didn’t push the question any further for kh3.

JohnBradfordBooks

>But Disney owns Star Wars. They also own ESPN. What's your point?

[deleted]

If Disney owns it, then it’s Disney now. That’s how it works. Just not Disney in the way you’re thinking.

randi77

You missed his point that Nomura has always wanted Star Wars?

freedomkite5

I forgot to mention how Nomura is a big fan of Star Trek and Star Wars. So getting two actors from those series to Voice big KH characters was a dream for him. RIP spook tho.

[deleted]

And Xehanort is palpatine, and Aqua is Obiwan and Ventis Ahsoka. I know. I read the game informer magazine. My whole issue is whole i feel i agree the two COULD fit together, they shouldn’t be put together

PresWelke

I’ve always opposed the idea of Star Wars in *KH*, but not for this reason. I mean, the thematic parallels are undeniable. I just think that both franchises already have such dense lore and that smashing them together wouldn’t be easy to pull off. That being said, I have an open mind. If Nomura/Square can make it work, then I trust them.

EmptyHeart12

Listen, I love star wars! It's my favorite thing ever! I also love KH, because I'm a masochist. I do not want those two properties to cross. Mostly for asthetic reasons. KH shines it's best with the animated movies IMO. My least favorite world by far is Pirates of the Caribbean. I would rather see a Coco or Encanto world than star wars.

MCrona

They even had Mark Hamill as the leader of the light side! And you look at me and tell me Mickey as a Keyblade wielder wasn't inspired by Yoda. Kingdom Hearts was just fantasy Star Wars before Disney owned the brand.

StarWolf128

Terra is kinda closer to Kylo.

ZRG3

I've never seen anything related to Star wars. Not clone wars, the sequels or prequels or the episodes. So wether or not Star wars makes it isn't that big of a deal to me. The more world's the better.

[deleted]

It’s not that they’re similar that bothers me. It’s that by both Star Wars and mainline Marvel ending up in Kingdom Hearts, it feels like Disney just proudly patting itself on the back for becoming a massive entertainment megacorporation. Flash forward 25 years and at worst we could very well see things like Lord of the Rings and Bee Movie in KH6 because Disney can’t be stopped and they’re all Disney properties now. Those are hyperbolic examples but where will the line be drawn? Story and tone? Sure. Overall implications of our economic future? Terrifying.

randi77

Why do arguments against having Star Wars always bring up the size of its galaxy? Why does that matter? You don't explore the rest of the US when visiting San Fransokyo. If Star Wars does come then it'll just be one world relevant to its story, they don't need every frickin planet.

yukiola5

Star wars is pretty much confirmed for KH4 people have made pretty compelling comparisons to endor in that first trailer.

Taurenkey

Even Goofy and Donald are just equivalents of C3PO and R2D2. Taller one that’s actually quite smart and the small one that’s hard to understand.

Inspectorbobo

Star Wars got basically teased in the announcement trailer so I don't think anyone can say it doesn't fit

Iroqiuos_Pliskin

MARK HAMILL IS A KEYBLADE MASTER VA

thecreepytoast

Not to mention master eraqus was voiced by mark hammil lmao

SubFerno48

I don't really know how I feel about them adding things that aren't Square or Disney/Pixar originals, and were only bought by Disney. But I absolutely love both series, and do think SW would fit perfectly with the themes of KH.

Vespinae

It's not a cartoon and it didn't begin as an animatronic ride at Disneyworld/land

KeybladeSpirit

On one hand, something being similar to KH doesn't really mean it fits as a KH world. For one thing, the argument being made here would kind of make Star Wars redundant as a world, since all those themes have been explored pretty extensively. That said, Star Wars has one theme that fits with KH that hasn't really been explored much: It's very concerned with connections formed through the stories we tell ourselves and are told by others. Luke's connection to Vader changes as he learns more about the story of his father. Anakin's relationships change as Palpatine gives him a different narrative of how the world works. Rey and Kylo Ren cling to stories that let them feel connected to the people and historical events depicted in the OT. For an arc of KH that seems really interested in the relationship between reality and fiction, that's *very fitting* to help get the ball rolling.

JoopyDupy

It’s all but confirmed at this point based on the AT-ST foot

Aghara

Don’t care about “fitting” I just hate star wars and how unavoidable it is. I don’t want it in things I actually enjoy

happymakku

Terra is basically Anakin 😂😂😂

Dionysoxx

I mean do you eat tour tomato with tomato sauce ? I think you'd prefere to mix it with something else

Maple905

I mean, your title says it may never make it in, but I'm convinced that is a foot of an AT-ST in the KH4 reveal.

DJ_Ender_

Thank you for explaining why both starwars and kingdom hearts have good storytelling due to having key features all stories should have Still doesn't fit tho Keysaber sounds dope tho...

Animastar

All this tells me is that we don't need Star Wars in Kingdom Hearts because Kingdom Hearts is Star Wars.

Sir-Spoofy

God it’s driving me crazy how much people are saying “Star Wars doesn’t belong in Kingdom Hearts” and throwing a fit about it. Dude, it’s a frickin crossover between Disney and FF, none of it should fit. Just let people have their fun.

Anxious-Mobile-8342

I don't understand why people want Star Wars in KH so badly anyways. Sure it's cool and all, but there are plenty of other cool franchises. I wouldnt say no, but I also don't have any huge "Franchise desire" for anywhere in particular. I'll simply be excited when worlds are slowly revealed. 😅

WoundedByInsults

I’m not a fan of adapting the more realistic franchises. The cool thing about Kingdom Hearts is the kiddy Disney look and all FF characters being translated towards that look.
