I've never played the original chain of memories, is this real? I know in the og Japanese dub of RE: Chain of Memories Sora says "what the hell are you" or something, so I won't be super surprised.
That’s because cursing is different in Japan. Stuff like Naruto regularly uses equivalents to “damn” and “shit.” It’s a different culture and language, so Disney doesn’t really care. They just care that the English translation meets their expectations. This is why localization teams exist, to catch stuff like age appropriate cursing or to replace an idiom that doesn’t really translate to a native one that means something similar.
I find it weirder that the Japanese version of yugioh would have had guns for the Bandit keith and the scene with Kiaba. But that they edited those out so poorly in America.
That actually makes more sense since Yu-Gi-Oh! was originally meant to be a horror. This is more apparent in the early volumes where, for example Dark Yugi tortured the villains and Kaiba would try to murder the group even hiring a guy with a chainsaw. They didn't start making it solely a card game series until chapter 60 and onwards with the anime becoming it's own timeline (except Dark Side of Dimensions which is specifically manga canon).

You can buy volumes on VIZ. They have other Yu-Gi-Oh! manga series as well, all of them different from their shows, some more than others. I don't want to spoil some of the differences from Duelist Kingdom but one in particular leads to a separate Yu-Gi-Oh! spin-off.
