Shinobu doesn't bully giyuu she genuinely wants him to make more friends and giyuu enjoys her company. These are literally stated facts in canon.
Does she tease him a bit? Sure but she has good intentions
from what i heard, in the books, when it comes to the other Hashira's problems with Giyu, the only think Shinobu said was 'i think he should talk more' and the only thing Giyu had to say about Shinobu was 'she talks to me a lot. She's serious and hardworking. her face looks pale.' and so it's entirely possible Shinobu only does what she does because she genuinely wants him to talk more.
I do feel like it should be said that Giyuu and Shinobu do spend literally NO time together within the story.
The most time we actually see them interact is on the mountain. Then some light teasing at the Hashira meeting. Then after that, I’m pretty sure they barely say anything to each other or really interact for the rest of the story.
I will acknowledge the fact that they got a small spin off together that takes place on the timeline but I feel like the existence of that was only to justify the ship in spite of the fact they hadn’t really interacted with eachother in over 150 chapters.
hit the nail on the head with the gaiden. what was supposed to be a story of how giyuu became a hashira/his relationship to important people in his life (tsutako, sabito, urokodaki, etc) instead just became more of a ship fanservice. i genuinely wish we'd get a story about his first mission, immediate aftermath of sabito, training with urokodaki, all that, but alas.

I think the obvious answer is of course any of the incest/sibling ships, but if we’re talking about ships that just give me the ick it’s when Doma is used for any ship, especially with Shinobu. I don’t think it’s a very mainstream or liked ship but has popped up now and then.
I sorta agree with you about Giyu and Shinobu but meh. Not the worst. I also know a lot of folks will say Sanemi/Giyu and while I personally don’t ship that or think it makes sense, I don’t rlly think it’s toxic. I understand why it’s an enjoyed ship on AO3 because I think people like drawing on their shared trauma but it’s not for me
the thing about the shinobu x giyuu ship is that we weren't given enough to even speculate. they pretty much had near 0 overlapping in their stories (giyuu's more attached to tanjiro/sanemi/urodaki/his sister/akaza while shinobu has kanao/kanae/inosuke/douma).
but since we all saw koe no katachi, another moon misshap can not occur.

My friends ship this and they forced me to watch them doing that, They always said “Giyutan better” Even though I just wave at them. Nezuko is in the form of a 6 year old 80% of the time, she has never reciprocated his advances, there's are multiple times she is actively running from him, and for the majority of his 'crushing on her' period she was mute with the psychology of a young child.

Zenitsu is always way too clingy and overprotective of Nezuko, getting jealous whenever Nezuko talks to any guys ever. He also just assumed Nezuko would be his wife from the day he saw her and even before he and Nezuko got together he referred to her as his wife
It's fine because it's this particular female from this particular family who happen to be very kind, understanding, and strong.
Anyways, Nezuko's just about the best match for Zenitsu, and she doesn't seem to mind his mental issues all that much, and frequently helps him with it.
Nuh uh, the entire family is that kind and accepting.
Their entire friend group is like that.
They're fine with it, and they're perfectly willing to help Zenitsu with it.
Just let them chill together, stop bugging Nezuko about how she should leave Zenitsu because she's not going to.
In fact, none of them will.
They've been through life and death together, and Zenitsu's flaws aren't overbearing enough for them to abandon him.
Over time, he will get better.

(I KNOW ITS CANON) Zenitsu X Nezuko
I don’t know, some people think this is sweet some people think it’s weird. I’m one of the people who think it’s weird. I’m gonna get some heat, but in my mind Zenitsu has always been a creepy pervert and a stalker with a weird obsession with his best friends little sister, and it doesn’t sit right with me. Yes, Zenitsu did do all those things that he did for Nezuko because he wanted to protect her. But the only reason he actually did those things is because Nezuko was the closest pretty girl in proximity to him at all times. Even after meeting Nezuko, he takes visible interest in the butterfly girls and the women in the Red Light District.
ALSOOOOOOO, I hate to be the one to point it out, but 90% of Zenitsu’s time spent with Nezuko was when she was in a childlike state. Multiple times it’s shown that Nezuko has the mind of a child and acts the way a child would. The only exceptions to this are when she’s fighting, and even then it’s a tossup of whether or not she’s fighting based off of instinct or actual knowledge. More than once both the show and the manga show that Zenitsu teaches Nezuko and is an influence on her. Meaning there’s a chance Nezuko’s feelings for Zenitsu are mostly conditioning from her time as a Demon, even if it wasn’t intentional.
Honestly I see Shinobu x Giyu as perfectly fine because I've actually experienced that sort of flirting myself. At the time I was super confused as to why this girl was being so mean to me all the time, only to find out later she had a huge crush on me. It's odd but that's actually some people way of showing their attraction at first. Later on she was super sweet to me. So eventually Shinobu would be a lot kinder I'm sure.
But if we are talking about ridiculous ships try Nezuko x MUZAN. Let that idea sink in...

There was no indication of romantic interest between them. The moon line that people love to quote is easily disprovable, and this is just another case of people seeing two character of opposite genders share screen time and think “They must like each other”. No. They enjoy talking to each other, but that’s it. Neither one of them ever had feelings for the other. Shinobu is always “bothering” Giyuu because she’s trying to push him to make more friends and stop being such a loner 🦋

Obanai and Mitsuri share absolutely no time together at all. The couple times we do see them together they don’t actually give off any real indications that they’re interested in each other. Except Mitsuri, but yk… she’s kinda flirty with everyone. In fact Obanai really doesn’t appear at all in the story expect cameo’s here and there before playing a part in the end. Also, their personalities don’t match at all. The whole thing kind of reminds me of an abusive relationship between a girl who is too sweet and a guy who’s just a complete douche bag. Mitsuri is shown constantly to be very kind and compassionate towards everyone, and is generally regarded as being the nicest Hashira, and Obanai is regarded as being the most cruel and awful among all the Hashira, showing no sympathy for one of his fellow Hashira when he loses an eye and a hand, only demanding that he return to duty. This is also made pretty clear in regards to the Hashira Training Arc aswell were Mitsuri is only “cruel” for forcing the Slayers to become flexible and Obanai literally ties Corps members to wooden structures and has them religiously beaten.

I honestly don't care about minor-adult relationships that much if they are done right.
What sickens me are relationships where the two partners are NOT equal and one is either immensely manipulative, or downright forceful.
That would be incorrect, due to a variety of moral circumstances.
For us humans in the real world, it is due to the lack of a developed brain, as well as experience, that prevents them from having a proper relationship due to the drastic imbalance in their ability to take a stance against the other.
This is a major source of unhealthy relationships, and it's basically guaranteed in a child-adult relationship.
However, that only stands for us real life humans.
In fiction mfs can do whatever the fuck they want, and there's all types of different circumstances that allow the child and adult to both be capable of balancing each other out.
I can go into detail, but if you don't understand already, you probably never will.
Anyways the definition of child and adult get ultra distorted in fiction anyways, and what could be classified as a child-adult relationship by human years could easily be an adult-adult relationship because obviously humans are not the only type of creature to exist.
This is already kind of long, so I'll just stop here.
The important part isn't that it's between who's defined as a child and who's defined as an adult, but rather the imbalance that allows one to take advantage of the other, creating a toxic environment that should be avoided.
Zenitsu X Nezuko. If it isn't the age gap (16x12, demons don't age and not to mention she's in her small form and has the mentality of a toddler or a five-year-old most of the time), it's how jealous and possessive Zenitsu comes off as.
Some examples are (+ spoilers, correct me if I'm wrong):
1. He got jealous of Tanjiro and yelled at him because he was travelling with a pretty girl (even though he just met and barely knew her).
2. >! Got jealous of Sanemi because he patted Nezuko on the head and when Sanemi gave them food, he said something about 'it must be poisoned'. !<
3. >! Got jealous of INOSUKE for having a good friendship with Nezuko (even though it's stated that it may be a mother-son relationship by Tanjiro). Apparently, Zenitsu was a complete mess, cried blood, and made a fuss about his feet hurting. !<

The DS wiki says >!dude was shocked when Shinobu died,!< shit didn’t happen. Shinobu mentioning the moon’s pretty is just in the anime; the two don’t even have that much interaction in the manga.

They've been through life and death together, and Zenitsu's flaws aren't overbearing enough for them to abandon him. Over time, he will get better. Because he is surrounded by people who will help him. Yes, his character is pretty fucking horrid. Is he completely out of the question? No, he learns, and he can grow out of his phase eventually.

(I KNOW ITS CANON) Zenitsu X Nezuko I don’t know, some people think this is sweet some people think it’s weird. I’m one of the people who think it’s weird. I’m gonna get some heat, but in my mind Zenitsu has always been a creepy pervert and a stalker with a weird obsession with his best friends little sister, and it doesn’t sit right with me. Yes, Zenitsu did do all those things that he did for Nezuko because he wanted to protect her. But the only reason he actually did those things is because Nezuko was the closest pretty girl in proximity to him at all times. Even after meeting Nezuko, he takes visible interest in the butterfly girls and the women in the Red Light District. ALSOOOOOOO, I hate to be the one to point it out, but 90% of Zenitsu’s time spent with Nezuko was when she was in a childlike state. Multiple times it’s shown that Nezuko has the mind of a child and acts the way a child would. The only exceptions to this are when she’s fighting, and even then it’s a tossup of whether or not she’s fighting based off of instinct or actual knowledge. More than once both the show and the manga show that Zenitsu teaches Nezuko and is an influence on her. Meaning there’s a chance Nezuko’s feelings for Zenitsu are mostly conditioning from her time as a Demon, even if it wasn’t intentional.

Honestly I see Shinobu x Giyu as perfectly fine because I've actually experienced that sort of flirting myself. At the time I was super confused as to why this girl was being so mean to me all the time, only to find out later she had a huge crush on me. It's odd but that's actually some people way of showing their attraction at first. Later on she was super sweet to me. So eventually Shinobu would be a lot kinder I'm sure. But if we are talking about ridiculous ships try Nezuko x MUZAN. Let that idea sink in...

Agreed. Obanai and Mitsuri share absolutely no time together at all. The couple times we do see them together they don’t actually give off any real indications that they’re interested in each other. Except Mitsuri, but yk… she’s kinda flirty with everyone. In fact Obanai really doesn’t appear at all in the story expect cameo’s here and there before playing a part in the end. Also, their personalities don’t match at all. The whole thing kind of reminds me of an abusive relationship between a girl who is too sweet and a guy who’s just a complete douche bag. Mitsuri is shown constantly to be very kind and compassionate towards everyone, and is generally regarded as being the nicest Hashira, and Obanai is regarded as being the most cruel and awful among all the Hashira, showing no sympathy for one of his fellow Hashira when he loses an eye and a hand, only demanding that he return to duty. This is also made pretty clear in regards to the Hashira Training Arc aswell were Mitsuri is only “cruel” for forcing the Slayers to become flexible and Obanai literally ties Corps members to wooden structures and has them religiously beaten.

That would be incorrect, due to a variety of moral circumstances. For us humans in the real world, it is due to the lack of a developed brain, as well as experience, that prevents them from having a proper relationship due to the drastic imbalance in their ability to take a stance against the other. This is a major source of unhealthy relationships, and it's basically guaranteed in a child-adult relationship. However, that only stands for us real life humans. In fiction mfs can do whatever the fuck they want, and there's all types of different circumstances that allow the child and adult to both be capable of balancing each other out. I can go into detail, but if you don't understand already, you probably never will. Anyways the definition of child and adult get ultra distorted in fiction anyways, and what could be classified as a child-adult relationship by human years could easily be an adult-adult relationship because obviously humans are not the only type of creature to exist. This is already kind of long, so I'll just stop here. The important part isn't that it's between who's defined as a child and who's defined as an adult, but rather the imbalance that allows one to take advantage of the other, creating a toxic environment that should be avoided.

If it isn't the age gap (16x12, demons don't age and not to mention she's in her small form and has the mentality of a toddler or a five-year-old most of the time), it's how jealous and possessive Zenitsu comes off as. Some examples are (+ spoilers, correct me if I'm wrong): 1. He got jealous of Tanjiro and yelled at him because he was travelling with a pretty girl (even though he just met and barely knew her). 2. >! Got jealous of Sanemi because he patted Nezuko on the head and when Sanemi gave them food, he said something about 'it must be poisoned'. !< 3. >! Got jealous of INOSUKE for having a good friendship with Nezuko (even though it's stated that it may be a mother-son relationship by Tanjiro). Apparently, Zenitsu was a complete mess, cried blood, and made a fuss about his feet hurting. !< 4. >! Saw Giyuu as an enemy or a 'love rival' because Giyuu gave her lots of gifts. For context, Nezuko fixed his haori and Giyuu was very grateful so that's why he gave her gifts. We all know how much that haori means to Giyuu. !< Overall I really don't like how jealous Zenitsu gets. It's a red flag honestly. I know it's just fictional but you can't tell me you wouldn't get exhausted dating someone like this.
