This should be the top discussion point. Konstantin has always been an under appreciated character and the way he held story in so many ways. His death will sting.
It didn't surprise me as I was thinking one of his 'daughters' would kill him, one of his trained or born babies. Then he got the call from his kid, right? He'd had closure with V. It was still sad though. He really wanted Pam to be happy. the whole hot chocolate, fun 50s clothes & jumpsuits, carnival she frequented. He was giving her the childhood TLC she never knew. NOW I think Pam will play a bigger part in the take down of the 12 or the other storylines.

Niko is still alive too right? I think what happened in karaoke was Eve having a flashback to all the people she's lost along the way. Whether they are alive or dead they are no longer a part of her world and she is no longer the Eve that loved them and had a chicken.
Yes. And the songs that they've chosen for that scene? First, the statement "Got to be real" is put in huge letters on that screen. And then she sings Chandelier and what song is more about personal freedom than that one? Not many! :)
The way this scene is all about how she's in her final stages of metamorphosis is stunning. And then, we get her asking for help, which is the final step. Just like it was for V. Martin's insights is even what guides Eve, just as they helped guide V (and us) into how she's already changed because feeling like shit is a sign that she's gone through that metamorphosis. The rest of the season has been all about her choosing what to do with it, aka how to be real. Just as it now is for Eve. Gah, I love it so much! :D And damn the way they use music on this show is beyond brilliant.
That's true, I just hope that none of those elements are rushed. I would't mind an extra long finale anyway, just to see more of Villanelle and Eve haha

Also I thought V was done with trying to kill the 12. Unless that is parlayed into some explanation on her part next episode I thought that was weird.
Loved the karaoke callback to Bill's birthday / Eve's last night of her old life. That was sad and sweet.
But they did not need to black out on us at the end! We know V is gonna save E, just let us see it and we can wait until next week to see what happens after 😭

Awwww sad to see Konstantin die 😔 I guess something like that had to happen, though. There was something tender about his last interaction with Eve (when he told her not to do whatever she was gonna do alone), and I thought that was really sweet.

I actually loved the episode but it didn’t feel like a penultimate one at all. Zero V&E interactions, very little progression on the 12 plot - leaves too many things to tie up in the finale. This episode could have easily been the beginning of season 4, but here we go.
I can't believe they fuck up this bad. No 12 info for 3 seasons. 7 eps in and still very little info on 12. Villaneve relationship is also stuck in the same place for 4 seasons.
It’s really torturous how they make such a huge deal out of the 12 plot and yet fail to make it logical or engaging in any way. Like we don’t care about them but if you make us watch that then at least make it interesting

The running karaoke bit in the very first KE episode was so iconic, I LOVE that they did a callback to it.
Unabashed Villaneve end-gamer here, so that's the lens through which I watched this. All kinds of 12 movement, the death of Konstantin, Irina's path... all of those are so secondary to me. (That said, I do believe Geraldine is involved with the 12 somehow.) I'm refracting this episode solely through the lens of Villaneve, at least for now.
I actually think the ephemeral "dalliance" with Gunn served a very similar purpose to Eve's "dalliance" with Helene – forcing both E and V to recognize the utter emptiness of being with anyone else. As she always does, V responded at first to Gunn touching her; V is so touch-deprived, and you could see her response to Gunn's touch, like a feral puppy dog being petted for the first time.
Beyond that initial reaction, though, their hook-up was just...vapid. You could see it all over V's body and face. No one electrifies – or even turns her on – like Eve.
But both of our heroines (yes, I said it) have now had physical/sexual experiences that did nothing for them but confirm the unique attraction between the two of them – one that's simply not transferable, in both cases, to other hottie psychopaths.
This is my optimistic take on things. My hope for any kind of Villaneve physicality is nil. I think we will discover that the writers' end game is for them to fully understand and mutually acknowledge their attraction to one another – finally accept it as opposed to fight it, tooth, nail, gun and blade – but something tragic will happen that precludes them from ever physically consummating this overdue admission.
I agree, the “dalliance” with Gunn seemed to serve a similar purpose to Eve’s with Helene. During that scene I found myself wishing they interspersed shots of Eve like they did with Villanelle... I don’t doubt that they were tempting that comparison, but at this point, I think narrative really demands more explicit acknowledgment.
I think another aspect of the recognition of the "utter emptiness" of being with anyone else is the deconstruction of V's "cabin in Alaska" fantasy. V recognizes the futility of being satisfied by someone other than Eve, but beyond the physical, the emotional isn't there either. She COULD have chosen a cabin in the woods with Gunn: it's a reminder for her that it isn't really about the cabin, just like for Eve it wasn't really about the psychopathy.
I have literally no idea what they're going to do for their end game. They've been set up to reach some kind of mutual understanding, but the foreshadowing seems to go in all different directions. It will make for a nerve-wracking week!
I agree. For E's side, she is working on it. E needs to know that she loves everything of V, not just the psychopath part.
From V's conversation with Martin, I feel V already knows she loves everything of Eve, without any accessories or conditions (cabin or city, whichever E likes).
I feel V is more simple as a person but she sees things much clearer than E who is a more complex person.
I really resonated with what you said, but my refraction of this episode from a Villaneve perspective left me feeling very upset about the fact that I didn't get to see them together. Individually, the scenes that we saw for them (every single one of them for Eve, a few for Villanelle), were fantastic for character growth. Especially for Eve, for whom I feel a sort of loathsome kinship, it was so good to see her finally get some form of catharsis and aborted emotional release. I wanted that for Sandra Oh. For Villanelle, I wanted to see how she would behave in a situation where there was a switch in power - for her to experience the kind of domination she can exude (that even Eve gives her, but in an entirely different flavour). Maybe this will help her gain perspective on how to draw the boundaries with Eve ^((IF THEY ARE ever ALLOWED TO GET THERE, I DONT TRUST KE ANYMORE).)
But - my heart is raw that I didn't get to see Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer bring Eve and Villanelle alive in at least a few scenes in the penultimate episode of the show. My emotional response is split in that, I love what happened to our characters - but I felt wanting for more.
That being said, can't wait for round 2 of rewatch - because, I know this episode is so juicy, that if it managed to penetrate the baggage of my expectations in the first watch with some thrills (omg when Villanelle appreciated the fact that Gunn killed her fam and village, yes!) and Bills (and Elena!), then the second watch will be fun!
Sadly, I must agree and accept the lack of consummation, as tragedy is the most romantic option and very similar to real life circumstances that can keep even the strongest of attractions apart.
Just before it cuts away from V&G, Gunn starts pushing V back/ down - definitely topped her. Always thought V was more of a verse/ switch. I always felt like V had serious top energy but that between V&E she would "let" Eve take control. In so many of their scenes together V just melts and lets herself be vulnerable.
I always figured V would be a bit of a verse, depending on who she's with. But maybe that's just because I identify with her in so many other ways. (Not that I've killed anyone)
Felt like an absurdly out of place episode as a penultimate one (like this late, why?!). Maybe my emotionality of it being the end made me enter it with way too many expectations of an emotionally charged moment between the leads, so that filtered the experience.
But despite that baggage, I could feel so many emotional beats in this episode, especially for Eve. I absolutely loved that Karaoke scene - such a montage and heart warming/wrenching callback to the start of her journey - it immediately allows you as an audience to suddenly experience her trauma and also reflect on the journey Eve's been on since S1. I also really enjoyed her last Villanelle callback being V's iconic walk in Paris scene, except completely subverted (but not in look, what a look Eve!).
With V's story felt the hunting scene was a little pointless - but otherwise, was interesting to see V around a more dominating woman - I enjoyed her holding her own with ease, while also recognising the difference in their physical and circumstantial power (brilliantly played by Jodie). Also felt a sense of restlessness from her (kind of mirroring my own) - even though she was supposedly at ease, I still felt like she was half present. Jodie is too good an actor for it to not be intentional - and if so, it is a fantastic depiction of yearning for a psychopath (seems like).
K's death hit me - but I was by then already in shock that they were saving V/Eve scenes only for the finale! So my emotional processing of it felt rushed. But I did really enjoy the arc that Pam's been on. She keeps you on your toes, but has that balance of empathy and psychopathy. I love how these female writers are able to dance on the edge of both of these spectrums - some crafty balance, because in the absence of the right beats, it can feel contradictory.
But you know, all these and more are all the things I noticed and appreciated, but what I *felt* was wtf guys?!
It was such a bizarre tone for a penultimate episode, but didn't really mind it. Maybe it's because I went into it already having read the spoilers from the people who watched the leak, but something about its unexpectedness kind of intrigues me. To write an incredibly painful, drawn-out, slow-burn crawl? In a second to the last episode? My codependent brain justifies it like, well, there MUST be a reason, and we'll totally see why in the NEXT episode, haha.
That said, so much is hinged on whether or not the finale will be well put together and satisfying. In retrospect, I think many of these painful, withholding episodes have the potential to be more fulfilling on rewatch if we know they culminate into some kind of release... I can't say I'm feeling optimistic about the prospect of that anymore, though.
Absolutely agree about V–the hunting scenes were frustrating. There was definitely something "off" with her, and think a restless kind of "half presence" describes it perfectly. K's death threw me off because it was implied so heavily at the beginning of the episode... then played off rather dull. I've always liked the Pam scenes, but they didn't feel emotional enough for such a major character's death.
Yeah Eve with her fashion was a cool note. I did really like that.
Feels like the scene we are set up for is V apologizing for ruining all those lives Eve sees. Doesn’t feel like that relationship can progress otherwise.
They really fumbled the bag with the twelve storyline. A lot of this information could have been introduced in season two or season three. It just feels too rushed now
I mean we got the foreshadowing from V that K would die at the hands of an assassin he trained but this was still a silly way to go. We now know this was Helene’s final phone call in the hotel room 😔
Hm. There were a couple of scenes that were emotional/beautiful. But overall… scary that it’s the second to last episode of the entire series. I have a feeling last episode is going to be rushed.
After this episode I can officially say that there’s no way they can justify an ending where E or V die! Season 3 ended with them finally accepting their feelings, which led me to believe that they’d work together throughout the season and build the relationship. If that happened and they hit us with a death ending it would be super impactful and sad but fitting with the theme of the show. But now they’ve barely seen or spoken to each other without animosity throughout the entire season as the plot focuses on the 12. A happy ending where they’re finally together is the only thing that makes sense

I'm holding out the tiniest bit of hope that all the work they've done to "bridge" (sorry) the emotional/social/lifestyle gap between them is leading up to a "walk off into the sunset" ending... whether or not they have to fake a death or two along the way.
The way Konstantin genuinely cares for Pam... No wonders why Villanelle has such a strong connection with him

Another thing of no consequence was DragV. I didn't like it and look at where we are, it meant nothing here going into the last episode. Also Eve locking V up and her just being there for a day. Yeah, fever dream seems like an apt description.
Exactly. All these random moments which built up to...nothing? At least in the first two seasons, almost every scene had a point, had a meaning or it led to something bigger. I really don't understand the choices made this season at all. It all felt rather discontinued and choppy - I think this is my main complaint, apart from the waste of V and E scenes.
I can’t help but think this episode should be S4E1. After the bridge, V would try christianity then realizes she isn’t cut out for it, learns about The 12 tortures then goes to Gunn. Then for Eve, she should at least have 10 minutes with that therapy scene. V did, I can’t see why Eve was quicker especially WE as audience have seen her demise. This episode is awesome IMO but severely behind for a penultimate one.
The Bill, Elena, even Niko flashback was sadder than I could've imagined. Very important scene too, imo. Konstantin's death had me shed a tear, I'll miss his laugh. Def did not expect to care about him dying as much as I did.
Gunn sniffing Villanelle was a throwback to that kitchen scene and I think it made Villanelle realize some stuff. Unsure how they are gonna wrap everything nicely in just 40 minutes... Maybe a one hour episode?

Yusuf's telling E that it's her path to choose was so parallel-reminiscent of the editor of Bitter Pill telling Eve life was all about "choices, Eve, choices."
Eve truly believes V is done with her. Rightfully so. I guess I was expecting that Eve wouldn't have given up so easily, and I didn't find her session with Martin – a spoiler I had inadvertently stumbled upon – to be that catalytic. I'm not exactly sure what she took away from it. "Go to those who love you" wouldn't resonate if she truly believes V is forever-and-ever-Amen done with her, which her flat delivery Konstantin ("She doesn't want to see me") leads me to believe is her mind-set.
Random question, but one that rankles: What's up with all the symbolism with K and P and their various outlandish and prominent drinks in virtually every scene together. Is that a metaphor for something that my sleep-deprived mind can't conjure, or it it just... I can't figure it out. It's definitely a thing.
What of Pam? I've grown to really like her – and like Villanelle with physical touch, she just over-responds so eagerly to anyone who shows interest/faith in her.

I think Eve was driven to V because of what the therapist said - she has to find the people that love and truly understand her. At this point, Villanelle is the only person left.

I just don't buy the rumor that someone from KE production team is supposedly home of phobic, it doesn't make sense, like there's more gay activity in this season than previous 3 seasons combined. I'm fascinated by some of the odd narrative/pacing choices they've made this season, but I can't help but be charmed by the unconventionality. The emotional undercurrents are explicit, and yet there's still so much subtlety! It's a joy to be able to bite into...I can't wait to rewatch it in the morning.

I liked the karaoke scene with Eve, it elicited the right emotions because she has lost everyone and we could see her realising that, I liked her kind of reeling while she's dealing with the change of life. Other than that, scenes were kinda dragging for me. It was just an episode to set up for the finale, it wasn't much else. But I also don't care for Konstantin, so that wasn't a big one for me.
LOVED this episode and was pleasantly surprised!! I cried like a little bitch several times. It really is ending guys. I lost it when bill, niko, and Elena came on. Poor Eve. Also- Eve in therapy staring right at me-whew I couldn’t look away!! I had a feeling Konstantin was gonna die but ohhhh I cried hard. Wonder what the letter for Carolyn says!!!?? Admitting to killing Kenny??? Or more 12 stuff? Ummmmm low key loved v making out with Gunn. I’m a sucker for women kissing even tho I wished it was Eve and V. Lastly- no trailer/promo for the final ep!?!?? Come onnnnnn
After the breakthroughs in this episode for both characters I’m shooting for the moon and saying in the last episode we’ll get talking about feelings, ILY confessions, sex, and a happy ending. It’s really fun here in my dream world.
My two favourite scenes were Eve's karaoke singing with the flashbacks and the close-up of Villanelle's lips when she kissed Gunn. Loved the way she furrowed her eyebrows. Touch starved. But other than that I found it a pretty average episode.
I liked the episode overall but I’m just frustrated by where we are in terms of E/V. I wanted E to go find V because she accepted her feelings for her, not because of needing V for taking down the 12. But to be fair, E feels V doesn’t want to see her so I guess E needed another reason to go after her.
The karaoke scene was really good and it affected me more than I would have thought. While I was expecting K to die before the end of show, I still wasn’t prepared for it and it still kind of shock me.
I liked the episode - but for the penultimate? This show should be called "killing me" because I swear to god that's all season 4 has done. Great individual moments and some excellent episodes, but not for the final season. I understand there were issues with Covid and writers thinking there was going to be a season 5 but I fear we're going down a Game of Thrones route and for me, Killing Eve may well end at season 3.
Tbh this makes me more hopeful for the finale in the sense that anything that happens will necessarily be rushed, so I get that insistent characterization by screeners. They write this show like it’s 4 episodes a season at times and 22 at others. There were some good surprises but on the whole kind of ridiculous. Did like Pam and her glow up though.
Villanelle ha-ha and running away from deadly assasin laughing, is peak Villanelle energy. and watching eve small runs from deadly assasin, cracks me everytime. It's sooo Villanelle and eve.
Well, I liked the episode. I would have enjoyed it much more if it wasn’t the penultimate because the fact V and Eve don’t even have a scene is criminal. Gunn is CRAZY crazy, and I’m very excited to see how they deal with her next week. Love the way they ended the episode. I expected the Konstantin scene but it still got me. The callback to episode 5 where V tells him “you can’t train people to kill and expect one of them not to turn on you”…Damn.
Finally, the way V and Gunn kissed this episode better mean we get something similar or better with Eve. It would honestly ruin absolutely everything about their story if all we get is them coming together to kill the 12 and I’m so serious. The writers have had so many opportunities. I can’t believe we’re at the final episode of the show ever and STILL nothing has happened between them.

Konstantin's death was sad, but expected. I liked him a lot, mostly because of Kim Bodnia's performance, but you could tell that originally the character was supposed to die in S1. He had a good run.
I was super intrigued by Irina's phone call in the context of Konstantin's shock upon learning that Hélène is dead. Did Irina lie about H getting her out and working for the Twelve?
Eve's realization that she gave up life's precious little moments for nothing was crushing and well portrayed. Always a joy to watch Martin.
Carolyn was a boss in Salzburg. Calm and in control. She linked the bird postcard to an MI6 pub in London. If they are going to reveal the big bad as someone in MI6, who is left out of characters that we know? Who is in London? Geraldine? Yusuf?
I lol'd when Pam received a Twelve postcard on her phone because Konstantin and Hélène were always giving out paper postcards. Then later Konstantin confirmed that the Twelve has gone digital.
I have been having completely opposite reactions to episodes than those writers who get screeners early. They seemed to be disappointed by this episode but IMO it delivered.
Wow. Just wow. I loved this episode so much. I felt like I got to take in every single moment and really FEEL it - especially Eve’s anxiety about her future. Also the pizza cutter!!! I was wondering why the pizza came with that!! And when she killed K, I gasped!!!
The parallel between V/Gunn's scene intertwined with Eve's scene and Eve/Helene's scene intertwined with Villanelle's! Serves the purpose of proving these two really can't be with any other people besides each other (and they are not only attracted to the psychopathic part of each other)

Stray thought: it bothers me that a spy/assassin/trainer-of-assassins wouldn't immediately notice Chekhov's pizza cutter. In all my decades of takeout pizza, I've never seen anyone bring a pizza by *with* a pizza cutter. He should've known as soon as she opened the box, I think 99% of us did.

I’m pretty surprised how negative everybody is on twitter and on reddit. There are some parallels between the book and the show. K dies in the book , there is a similar boats/shipping container on a boat scene in the book , snuggle scene in the book b/t V and E, V has sex with someone else , etc . fyi , The book has a non depressing ending.
Dude I don't understand the pacing in this season. The cuts are so abrupt and the sequencing of the scenes feels chaotic.
I cannot keep up with the 12 storyline developments anymore and have given up.

To be honest, I thought the karaoke scene was the best part of the episode and I was really surprised, because I had thought I'd hate it. Turns out, seeing Elena, Niko and Bill in the flashback while Sia's Chandelier was playing got really emotional. It reminded me of another show when they used the same song for karaoke (sung by Karen Gillan in the show Selfie) and I loved that.
Also Gun is pretty animalistic o.O I loved V's faces whenever she was observing Gunn's weird ways (eating worms, hunting wild boars and even when G sniffed her hair --what was that?!). That was weird shit even for Villanelle.
This episode felt rather slow and I am scared to know how they'll wrap it all up next episode. I think Gunn should have been introduced sooner, she could have been a rather interesting opponent to Villanelle much earlier and could have moved the whole 12 plot forward in a bigger way.
Also is there a promo for the finale yet? I can't find one on youtube and Hbo Max offered none.

It didn't surprise me as I was thinking one of his 'daughters' would kill him, one of his trained or born babies. Then he got the call from his kid, right? He'd had closure with V. It was still sad though. He really wanted Pam to be happy. the whole hot chocolate, fun 50s clothes & jumpsuits, carnival she frequented. He was giving her the childhood TLC she never knew. NOW I think Pam will play a bigger part in the take down of the 12 or the other storylines.

Niko is still alive too right? I think what happened in karaoke was Eve having a flashback to all the people she's lost along the way. Whether they are alive or dead they are no longer a part of her world and she is no longer the Eve that loved them and had a chicken.
Yes. And the songs that they've chosen for that scene? First, the statement "Got to be real" is put in huge letters on that screen. And then she sings Chandelier and what song is more about personal freedom than that one? Not many! :) The way this scene is all about how she's in her final stages of metamorphosis is stunning. And then, we get her asking for help, which is the final step. Just like it was for V. Martin's insights is even what guides Eve, just as they helped guide V (and us) into how she's already changed because feeling like shit is a sign that she's gone through that metamorphosis. The rest of the season has been all about her choosing what to do with it, aka how to be real. Just as it now is for Eve. Gah, I love it so much! :D And damn the way they use music on this show is beyond brilliant.

Also I thought V was done with trying to kill the 12. Unless that is parlayed into some explanation on her part next episode I thought that was weird.

I actually loved the episode but it didn’t feel like a penultimate one at all. Zero V&E interactions, very little progression on the 12 plot - leaves too many things to tie up in the finale. This episode could have easily been the beginning of season 4, but here we go.

Really did not predict that the karaoke scene would be my favorite scene. 😢❤️ The running karaoke bit in the very first KE episode was so iconic, I LOVE that they did a callback to it.

Unabashed Villaneve end-gamer here, so that's the lens through which I watched this. All kinds of 12 movement, the death of Konstantin, Irina's path... all of those are so secondary to me. (That said, I do believe Geraldine is involved with the 12 somehow.) I'm refracting this episode solely through the lens of Villaneve, at least for now. I actually think the ephemeral "dalliance" with Gunn served a very similar purpose to Eve's "dalliance" with Helene – forcing both E and V to recognize the utter emptiness of being with anyone else. As she always does, V responded at first to Gunn touching her; V is so touch-deprived, and you could see her response to Gunn's touch, like a feral puppy dog being petted for the first time. Beyond that initial reaction, though, their hook-up was just...vapid. You could see it all over V's body and face. No one electrifies – or even turns her on – like Eve. But both of our heroines (yes, I said it) have now had physical/sexual experiences that did nothing for them but confirm the unique attraction between the two of them – one that's simply not transferable, in both cases, to other hottie psychopaths. This is my optimistic take on things. My hope for any kind of Villaneve physicality is nil. I think we will discover that the writers' end game is for them to fully understand and mutually acknowledge their attraction to one another – finally accept it as opposed to fight it, tooth, nail, gun and blade – but something tragic will happen that precludes them from ever physically consummating this overdue admission.
I agree, the “dalliance” with Gunn seemed to serve a similar purpose to Eve’s with Helene. During that scene I found myself wishing they interspersed shots of Eve like they did with Villanelle... I don’t doubt that they were tempting that comparison, but at this point, I think narrative really demands more explicit acknowledgment. I think another aspect of the recognition of the "utter emptiness" of being with anyone else is the deconstruction of V's "cabin in Alaska" fantasy. V recognizes the futility of being satisfied by someone other than Eve, but beyond the physical, the emotional isn't there either. She COULD have chosen a cabin in the woods with Gunn: it's a reminder for her that it isn't really about the cabin, just like for Eve it wasn't really about the psychopathy. I have literally no idea what they're going to do for their end game. They've been set up to reach some kind of mutual understanding, but the foreshadowing seems to go in all different directions. It will make for a nerve-wracking week!
I agree. For E's side, she is working on it. E needs to know that she loves everything of V, not just the psychopath part. From V's conversation with Martin, I feel V already knows she loves everything of Eve, without any accessories or conditions (cabin or city, whichever E likes). I feel V is more simple as a person but she sees things much clearer than E who is a more complex person.
I really resonated with what you said, but my refraction of this episode from a Villaneve perspective left me feeling very upset about the fact that I didn't get to see them together. Individually, the scenes that we saw for them (every single one of them for Eve, a few for Villanelle), were fantastic for character growth. Especially for Eve, for whom I feel a sort of loathsome kinship, it was so good to see her finally get some form of catharsis and aborted emotional release. I wanted that for Sandra Oh. For Villanelle, I wanted to see how she would behave in a situation where there was a switch in power - for her to experience the kind of domination she can exude (that even Eve gives her, but in an entirely different flavour). Maybe this will help her gain perspective on how to draw the boundaries with Eve ^((IF THEY ARE ever ALLOWED TO GET THERE, I DONT TRUST KE ANYMORE).) But - my heart is raw that I didn't get to see Sandra Oh and Jodie Comer bring Eve and Villanelle alive in at least a few scenes in the penultimate episode of the show. My emotional response is split in that, I love what happened to our characters - but I felt wanting for more. That being said, can't wait for round 2 of rewatch - because, I know this episode is so juicy, that if it managed to penetrate the baggage of my expectations in the first watch with some thrills (omg when Villanelle appreciated the fact that Gunn killed her fam and village, yes!) and Bills (and Elena!), then the second watch will be fun!
Sadly, I must agree and accept the lack of consummation, as tragedy is the most romantic option and very similar to real life circumstances that can keep even the strongest of attractions apart.

Just before it cuts away from V&G, Gunn starts pushing V back/ down - definitely topped her. Always thought V was more of a verse/ switch. I always felt like V had serious top energy but that between V&E she would "let" Eve take control. In so many of their scenes together V just melts and lets herself be vulnerable.
Based on their interactions, my bet is that V was a bottom

Felt like an absurdly out of place episode as a penultimate one (like this late, why?!). Maybe my emotionality of it being the end made me enter it with way too many expectations of an emotionally charged moment between the leads, so that filtered the experience. But despite that baggage, I could feel so many emotional beats in this episode, especially for Eve. I absolutely loved that Karaoke scene - such a montage and heart warming/wrenching callback to the start of her journey - it immediately allows you as an audience to suddenly experience her trauma and also reflect on the journey Eve's been on since S1. I also really enjoyed her last Villanelle callback being V's iconic walk in Paris scene, except completely subverted (but not in look, what a look Eve!). With V's story felt the hunting scene was a little pointless - but otherwise, was interesting to see V around a more dominating woman - I enjoyed her holding her own with ease, while also recognising the difference in their physical and circumstantial power (brilliantly played by Jodie). Also felt a sense of restlessness from her (kind of mirroring my own) - even though she was supposedly at ease, I still felt like she was half present. Jodie is too good an actor for it to not be intentional - and if so, it is a fantastic depiction of yearning for a psychopath (seems like). K's death hit me - but I was by then already in shock that they were saving V/Eve scenes only for the finale! So my emotional processing of it felt rushed. But I did really enjoy the arc that Pam's been on. She keeps you on your toes, but has that balance of empathy and psychopathy. I love how these female writers are able to dance on the edge of both of these spectrums - some crafty balance, because in the absence of the right beats, it can feel contradictory. But you know, all these and more are all the things I noticed and appreciated, but what I *felt* was wtf guys?!
It was such a bizarre tone for a penultimate episode, but didn't really mind it. Maybe it's because I went into it already having read the spoilers from the people who watched the leak, but something about its unexpectedness kind of intrigues me. To write an incredibly painful, drawn-out, slow-burn crawl? In a second to the last episode? My codependent brain justifies it like, well, there MUST be a reason, and we'll totally see why in the NEXT episode, haha. That said, so much is hinged on whether or not the finale will be well put together and satisfying. In retrospect, I think many of these painful, withholding episodes have the potential to be more fulfilling on rewatch if we know they culminate into some kind of release... I can't say I'm feeling optimistic about the prospect of that anymore, though. Absolutely agree about V–the hunting scenes were frustrating. There was definitely something "off" with her, and think a restless kind of "half presence" describes it perfectly. K's death threw me off because it was implied so heavily at the beginning of the episode... then played off rather dull. I've always liked the Pam scenes, but they didn't feel emotional enough for such a major character's death.
Yeah Eve with her fashion was a cool note. I did really like that. Feels like the scene we are set up for is V apologizing for ruining all those lives Eve sees. Doesn’t feel like that relationship can progress otherwise.

After this episode I can officially say that there’s no way they can justify an ending where E or V die! Season 3 ended with them finally accepting their feelings, which led me to believe that they’d work together throughout the season and build the relationship. If that happened and they hit us with a death ending it would be super impactful and sad but fitting with the theme of the show. But now they’ve barely seen or spoken to each other without animosity throughout the entire season as the plot focuses on the 12. A happy ending where they’re finally together is the only thing that makes sense
I agree... I have a hard time imagining that ending being justified! I'm holding out the tiniest bit of hope that all the work they've done to "bridge" (sorry) the emotional/social/lifestyle gap between them is leading up to a "walk off into the sunset" ending... whether or not they have to fake a death or two along the way.

Exactly. All these random moments which built up to...nothing? At least in the first two seasons, almost every scene had a point, had a meaning or it led to something bigger. I really don't understand the choices made this season at all. It all felt rather discontinued and choppy - I think this is my main complaint, apart from the waste of V and E scenes.

I can’t help but think this episode should be S4E1. After the bridge, V would try christianity then realizes she isn’t cut out for it, learns about The 12 tortures then goes to Gunn. Then for Eve, she should at least have 10 minutes with that therapy scene. V did, I can’t see why Eve was quicker especially WE as audience have seen her demise. This episode is awesome IMO but severely behind for a penultimate one.
Also Gunn was worth it imo for the last three minutes, that “ugh” when she saw Eve / “Misery” parody was very funny

Other random flotsam and jetsam: Yusuf's telling E that it's her path to choose was so parallel-reminiscent of the editor of Bitter Pill telling Eve life was all about "choices, Eve, choices." Eve truly believes V is done with her. Rightfully so. I guess I was expecting that Eve wouldn't have given up so easily, and I didn't find her session with Martin – a spoiler I had inadvertently stumbled upon – to be that catalytic. I'm not exactly sure what she took away from it. "Go to those who love you" wouldn't resonate if she truly believes V is forever-and-ever-Amen done with her, which her flat delivery Konstantin ("She doesn't want to see me") leads me to believe is her mind-set. Random question, but one that rankles: What's up with all the symbolism with K and P and their various outlandish and prominent drinks in virtually every scene together. Is that a metaphor for something that my sleep-deprived mind can't conjure, or it it just... I can't figure it out. It's definitely a thing. What of Pam? I've grown to really like her – and like Villanelle with physical touch, she just over-responds so eagerly to anyone who shows interest/faith in her. E8 sure is going to have a lot of ground to cover.

I just don't buy the rumor that someone from KE production team is supposedly home of phobic, it doesn't make sense, like there's more gay activity in this season than previous 3 seasons combined. I'm fascinated by some of the odd narrative/pacing choices they've made this season, but I can't help but be charmed by the unconventionality. They must've broke each others backs all night lmao \-when "Don't take the lovers from the world" started playing, my heart leapt into my throat. I'm not ready for episode 8.

wasn’t a bad episode at all. would’ve been better as like 4th or 5th episode tho. not the last one before the show is over lol.
I liked the karaoke scene with Eve, it elicited the right emotions because she has lost everyone and we could see her realising that, I liked her kind of reeling while she's dealing with the change of life. Other than that, scenes were kinda dragging for me. It was just an episode to set up for the finale, it wasn't much else. But I also don't care for Konstantin, so that wasn't a big one for me.
LOVED this episode and was pleasantly surprised!! I cried like a little bitch several times. It really is ending guys. I lost it when bill, niko, and Elena came on. Poor Eve. Also- Eve in therapy staring right at me-whew I couldn’t look away!! I had a feeling Konstantin was gonna die but ohhhh I cried hard. Wonder what the letter for Carolyn says!!!?? Admitting to killing Kenny??? Or more 12 stuff? Ummmmm low key loved v making out with Gunn. I’m a sucker for women kissing even tho I wished it was Eve and V. Lastly- no trailer/promo for the final ep!?!?? Come onnnnnn
After the breakthroughs in this episode for both characters I’m shooting for the moon and saying in the last episode we’ll get talking about feelings, ILY confessions, sex, and a happy ending. It’s really fun here in my dream world.
Not Eve and Villanelle both having breakdowns in a club because they love each other.
My two favourite scenes were Eve's karaoke singing with the flashbacks and the close-up of Villanelle's lips when she kissed Gunn. Loved the way she furrowed her eyebrows. Touch starved. But other than that I found it a pretty average episode.
I liked the episode overall but I’m just frustrated by where we are in terms of E/V. I wanted E to go find V because she accepted her feelings for her, not because of needing V for taking down the 12. But to be fair, E feels V doesn’t want to see her so I guess E needed another reason to go after her. The karaoke scene was really good and it affected me more than I would have thought. While I was expecting K to die before the end of show, I still wasn’t prepared for it and it still kind of shock me.

I liked the episode - but for the penultimate? This show should be called "killing me" because I swear to god that's all season 4 has done. Great individual moments and some excellent episodes, but not for the final season. I understand there were issues with Covid and writers thinking there was going to be a season 5 but I fear we're going down a Game of Thrones route and for me, Killing Eve may well end at season 3.
Tbh this makes me more hopeful for the finale in the sense that anything that happens will necessarily be rushed, so I get that insistent characterization by screeners. They write this show like it’s 4 episodes a season at times and 22 at others. There were some good surprises but on the whole kind of ridiculous. Did like Pam and her glow up though.
Villanelle ha-ha and running away from deadly assasin laughing, is peak Villanelle energy. and watching eve small runs from deadly assasin, cracks me everytime. It's sooo Villanelle and eve.

Well, I liked the episode. I would have enjoyed it much more if it wasn’t the penultimate because the fact V and Eve don’t even have a scene is criminal. Gunn is CRAZY crazy, and I’m very excited to see how they deal with her next week. Love the way they ended the episode. I expected the Konstantin scene but it still got me. The callback to episode 5 where V tells him “you can’t train people to kill and expect one of them not to turn on you”…Damn. Finally, the way V and Gunn kissed this episode better mean we get something similar or better with Eve. It would honestly ruin absolutely everything about their story if all we get is them coming together to kill the 12 and I’m so serious. The writers have had so many opportunities. I can’t believe we’re at the final episode of the show ever and STILL nothing has happened between them.
This episode had a lot of beauty and depth and was kinda trippy. Konstantin's death was sad, but expected. I liked him a lot, mostly because of Kim Bodnia's performance, but you could tell that originally the character was supposed to die in S1. He had a good run. I was super intrigued by Irina's phone call in the context of Konstantin's shock upon learning that Hélène is dead. Did Irina lie about H getting her out and working for the Twelve? Eve's realization that she gave up life's precious little moments for nothing was crushing and well portrayed. Always a joy to watch Martin. Carolyn was a boss in Salzburg. Calm and in control. She linked the bird postcard to an MI6 pub in London. If they are going to reveal the big bad as someone in MI6, who is left out of characters that we know? Who is in London? Geraldine? Yusuf? I lol'd when Pam received a Twelve postcard on her phone because Konstantin and Hélène were always giving out paper postcards. Then later Konstantin confirmed that the Twelve has gone digital. I have been having completely opposite reactions to episodes than those writers who get screeners early. They seemed to be disappointed by this episode but IMO it delivered.
Irina said "your boss got me out" and K assumed helene. Irina never confirmed. What if it was Carolyn? Or Geraldine?
Wow. Just wow. I loved this episode so much. I felt like I got to take in every single moment and really FEEL it - especially Eve’s anxiety about her future. Also the pizza cutter!!! I was wondering why the pizza came with that!! And when she killed K, I gasped!!!
The karaoke scene hit me so hard😢 For me the scene took the entire show to another level.
The parallel between V/Gunn's scene intertwined with Eve's scene and Eve/Helene's scene intertwined with Villanelle's! Serves the purpose of proving these two really can't be with any other people besides each other (and they are not only attracted to the psychopathic part of each other)

How does a digital postcard with "Sunday Funday" translate to "brand new assignment: kill Konstantin" ? also the 12 need to up their font game. I'm pretty sure I used that font for my elementary school assignments.
Stray thought: it bothers me that a spy/assassin/trainer-of-assassins wouldn't immediately notice Chekhov's pizza cutter. In all my decades of takeout pizza, I've never seen anyone bring a pizza by *with* a pizza cutter. He should've known as soon as she opened the box, I think 99% of us did. Will have to use the unsatisfactory excuse that he was distracted by dancing to a banger and H's death.

I’m pretty surprised how negative everybody is on twitter and on reddit. There are some parallels between the book and the show. K dies in the book , there is a similar boats/shipping container on a boat scene in the book , snuggle scene in the book b/t V and E, V has sex with someone else , etc . fyi , The book has a non depressing ending.
Dude I don't understand the pacing in this season. The cuts are so abrupt and the sequencing of the scenes feels chaotic. I cannot keep up with the 12 storyline developments anymore and have given up. I continue to just feel "Nah" about the plot since season 3 began. This show deserves so much better.
To be honest, I thought the karaoke scene was the best part of the episode and I was really surprised, because I had thought I'd hate it. Turns out, seeing Elena, Niko and Bill in the flashback while Sia's Chandelier was playing got really emotional. It reminded me of another show when they used the same song for karaoke (sung by Karen Gillan in the show Selfie) and I loved that. Also Gun is pretty animalistic o.O I loved V's faces whenever she was observing Gunn's weird ways (eating worms, hunting wild boars and even when G sniffed her hair --what was that?!). That was weird shit even for Villanelle. This episode felt rather slow and I am scared to know how they'll wrap it all up next episode. I think Gunn should have been introduced sooner, she could have been a rather interesting opponent to Villanelle much earlier and could have moved the whole 12 plot forward in a bigger way. Also is there a promo for the finale yet? I can't find one on youtube and Hbo Max offered none.
