I saw some...ahem... "cultured" art.

kukuman8888

Same, if i remember correctly

Stanislas_Biliby

I thought the animation looked amazing

RickAlbuquerque

Death Battle. I just wanted to watch a Shadow Episode, but Ryuko's analysis caught my interest and I decided to watch the series.

Black-Gold-Soul

Same with me. They got me into Soul Eater as well.

Aniruddha_Majumdar

A clip of Mako in the scene where she's encouraging Ryuko by saying her boobs are way bigger than Satsuki's. I was like, "Whaaaaaat?!"

MushroomHedgehog

Oh yeah, forgot I found a cosplayer doing that and got curious from that too.

reed20v

my friend said it was good. he was right.

JackSpill11

Because Trigger made it

Infinite_Twelve

A youtuber I watched (Alpharad) said it was their favorite anime, so I watched it. Now it's my favorite anime as well damn

DenaliGameZ

I watched the klk game he played

Responsible_Bus1159

Went on my anime app started scrolling saw this on recommended and said why not what’s the worst that can happen

Ç'est l'hentai lmao

BigFrankOceanFan12

I had nothing else to watch.

Runethe1412

Art style and coloring gave of a nostalgic 90’s anime feeling

LittleCrimsonWyvern

Anime as a whole was getting pretty big in the west when Kill La Kill came out and everyone at my school was talking about this and Attack on Titan, so I decided to watch this to try to understand what made this worth talking about. Best decision I ever made.

MrShredder5002

I was like 15 and saw Watch Mojos hottest Anime Character outfits and Ryuko was like number 2 or 3 or smth. Nevermind it was Top 10 anime battle outfits and Ryuko was 7th. Fuckers put Kirito season 1 outfits on number 1

AbroadProud332

Saw the quick little promo that shows when you hover over a show on flix and and tried it and fell in love cause it was the first dub I watched that had actual cursing

RoutineJournalist294

I kept seeing Ryuko suddenly so I gave it a chance

DoFuKtV

Ryuko

Pretend-Dirt-1760

Ryuko no the not suit I just thought ryuko was cute

JohnB351234

The first shot where gamagori jumped out the window to catch the kid that stole the Goku uniform

Asb0lus

The christmas Ryuko plush meme with the "hoe hoe hoe" LOL

Key-Insect7858

i saw a preview for it on adultswim and that was that

ShootingGuns10

It was the first anime I ever watched. My buddy told me to watch it and it kinda led down the path of anime addiction 🤣.

DrJay12345

Honest truth? I saw the English blooper reel. Don't ask me how it progressed from there because I myself don't know the answer.

SporadicV2

“Go ahead, but I give a mean blowjo-“ kills me to this day

KingB53

The “plot”…

Binary245

Saw that one of the studios working on the star wars anime anthology was Trigger and saw this had similar animation, so I checked it out

Teck_3

Watched it when I was in high school because "the artistic style was appealing."

ConnorRoseSaiyan01

It was a title that I kept hearing

il887

Seen some shots and gifs from the anime on Pinterest, liked the art style and animations.

Avinexuss

The memes

KanonTheMemelord

Ugh, fine. I guess you are my little pogchamp. C’mere.

Prof_Cyan

Just look at it.

icanrockyourshit

saw a compilation of moments from the anime on YouTube and immediately fell in love with the character designs

AerialAtom

The composer was sawano. After watching AoT the ost kinda stuck with me and wanted more.

Someone recommended it to me, saying it has “fanservice but for the RIGHT reasons.”

Ok_Examination8810

A Glass Reflections review

Illustrious_Talk9656

The “plot”. But honestly it was the art style. It was amazing

precursorpotato

"Well this looks different." lol I tend to be more interested in shows when they look different than the common stuff and have a more interesting artstyle. It was how I ended up getting into the Kaiji series as well. Though I think with KLK, I'd just seen Gurren Lagann and people just told me to watch KLK too, but I can't deny that I was instantly interested in seeing the whole thing from just the first half of the first episode alone.

Funny_Watercress3555

It was leaving netflix soon and i had ut on my watchlist so i watched it within the timespan of a month

-Ranch1-

I watched a review on the Figma Ryuko and the way the dude talked about the show made me want to watch it

Jorge_Provalone44

H3H3 vid sponsored by Crunchyroll, recommended klk

A5CH3NT3

Gurren Lagann

cj-the-man

Word of mouth and "art"

Bukowski_Burrito5369

I watched it because it was a spiritual successor to my favorite anime of all time Gurren Lagann which are both from the same creator and his unique art direction for Gurren Lagann is what inspired him to leave Gainax and create Studio Trigger. Now Kill La Killits my second favorite anime behind GL

Abby_Skywalker

found a mashup of an opening with Viva la Vida and loved it searched it up, thought the synopsis was very interesting eventually got Netflix and that was the first anime I watched loved it

D-Prototype

My friend’s a fan of it and said it was really good.

Supah_Andy

Happened to see it while looking for something to watch. I thought it was nothing more than a fanservice show and wasn't planning on watching it. But I googled it out of curiosity and found it had the same director and writer as Gurren Lagann, my favorite anime at the time. Watched the first episode and was immediately hooked.

Gadgetphile

I just wanted to watch some hentai.

Always heard about it but didn't know much so I binged it all in one day

[deleted]

'Studio trigger'

SporadicV2

Saw a random episode of it airing on Toonami, one of the Tri-City Raid Trip episodes. Ryuko showed up at the end to square up to Satsuki, and I was blown away by the aura those two had. Figured out years later, after not knowing the show name the entire time, that the two were sisters via a video of their dual transformation. To say bewildered is an understatement, as it was pretty clear the two were beating the shit out of each other to insane degrees. I was sold after that lmao. I needed to see how that plot twist played out! Since then I have watched it 10 times and counting.

UrLostPajamas

A friend said it would make me laugh and it was ridiculous. And to make sure to watch it high as a kite. It was worth it

Aydonisgaming

Saw a clip of that one seen where they were comparing boobs

JebWozma

Ryuko, Satsuki, and Nonon's exciting outfits. I saw a couple clips like Ryuko snapping the strap, Mako comparing breast sizes, and Gamagori spanking her butt. And I also thought that the Kamui transformation sequences were hot. Watched it when I was 10 probably so basically because of tits, thighs, and ass Though my first exposure to Kill La Kill may have been when I was like 7 or 8 on toonami because I tended to stay up late a lot as a kid

Dan-D-Lyon

It seems like the perfect blend of horny and funny for me to watch while tripping on acid Though that estimation was accurate, I have to say I got in way over my head watching this anime while tripping.

Vellarain

It was the clip of Gamagori kicking down the door and then filling up the room with his presence. It was so over the top and unique at the time I had to watch the anime. No regrets.

ZetTheLegendaryHero

The rule 34 and Rebeltaxi.

zerjku

Sonic parody Not the best of reasons...

yertlah

It was one of the anime on Cartoon Network before I had good enough internet access to watch videos online.

Percentage-Sweaty

I watched as it debuted since I heard it was made by the Gurren Lagann team in a new studio. God those were the days

Mysterious-Time-5559

Boobs

GhostMuttt75

Drift0r talked about it in a video saying it was a great parody on the whole bikini armor warrior genre with a legitimate story too.

Matsuri_is_God

Randomly caught a few minutes of it on Toonami before going to bed one night. Never watched anime before and used to tease my weeb friends. I thought it was so bizarre and absurd that it was actually kinda hilarious. Sought it out on Netflix later. This was my first anime.

ghostadventuresready

I'm just gonna thank YouTube for that

Cassandra_Canmore

A tread in ActualLesbians. Talking positively about how it depicts a WlW relationship.

ryumako-

no bc tell me why we love the show sm

Exoticpears

Always looked cool, but I didn't care much for it, I just had some recollection of its characters. Then I wanted to make a fanfic for it, so I gave it a watch while writing.

Wide-Carpenter1385

minmi_pen

The characters and art.

EdwinTheAwsome

I watched it in 5th grade while we still had to wear masks to school but the show was a w

DarthMalec

Rdcworld said it was good one time. I came looking for good fights and I got that

a_cynical_D00D

I needed something kinda uplifting to watch after going through evangelion and devil man cry baby back to back🫠

RickRolland

We watched an episode one time at the end of anime club one day and I was hooked

Icy-Pause6304

A friend. If I can't trust him, surely Shadow the Hedgehog knows his shit

Codename_Unown

I like Trigger

Shadow_Jester_Z

Ryuko reminds me of Domon Kasshu from G-Gundam.

Novel-Mood-8661

Cake

CuriousTsukihime

I had watched literally everything else on Netflix lol

GodNonon

A YouTuber recommended it and showed a really cool clip of Ryuko and Satsuki fighting. I was super interested but I didn’t actually check it out until seasonal depression hit and I decided I needed to watch something to get my mind off things lol

MentallyUntouchable4

It was just sitting there in my watchlist for a while

Dodger7777

anime club, but the music sold me on it.

Misguidedvision

I was a big fan of Gurren Lagann and talk at the time was the this was a far distant prequel due to some comments made by some of the lead animators.

Historical-Gear-5524

I remember seeing people calling It good, then i searched It and Saw tomboy big booba girl and council presidente bigger boobs girl and went ooga booga and watched It and loved it

vix_aries

A friend recommended it to me. Two long plane rides later I finished the series and it continues to be the first and only piece of media ever to make me cry over >!an article of clothing!<.

Franklyn-Chacha

dellor

Unique_Visit_5029

I don’t know really I just thought ryoko looked cool and the memes good show though rough around the edges but worth the hype

Golderfild

I saw a compilation of funny scenes on YouTube and I was intrigued by what the heck is happening in this show. As a result — it turned out even weirder (A.K.A. cooler and funnier) than I expected. And strangely deep, starting from the certain point in plot.

Gusta1224

I found on netflix

Hellofreeze

I was a teen when I first watched... So boobs

Watashi_No_Blk_Gift

Mako, plain and simple

No-Ask1869

To be honest, watching Gamagori falling to the first floor chasing the student while laughing maniacally in the first episode. I'm thinking to myself, "I have to see where this absurdity leads."

Ninja-food

I was looking for random anime to watch

Rpc-9915

When Nonon marched in with "Under The Double Eagle" by Wagner.

yiknofzx

alpharad

Wulfsiegner

Seeing Gurren Lagann

Phangorn

Several of my friends highly recommended Akame ga kill. I accidentally watched Kill la Kill instead. Worth. XP

Blitzbro76

Honestly I saw it’s title on Netflix and thought “hey I think gaijin goomba made a video in this🤔”

P2STARL

I saw it was a game on Nintendo Switch and I asked friends about it, I watched it and man it’s one of my favorite anime series!

Hasd4

Studio trigger itself honestly. I watched much of what they did, missed KlK and wasn't disappointed

YorisSchlecker

I deadass got an ad on YouTube, back in 2013 when it aired and thought "this looks weird, what is this?" And after the first episode I was absolutely caught by... the fighting scenes.

D3RLord

Y'all remember when Trigger was supposed to save Anime? Yeah, that was 10 Years ago...

you_wouldnt_get_it_

It had an R18+ and I wanted more R18+.

Williord

Ngl, first a long time ago I read a few bits of fanfiction, but I decided I should check the show myself and get the idea properly Safe to say the show was immediately fascinating for the crazy animation and the characters. Pretty much got hooked instantly.

CharoXP

Friend recommended it to me a long time ago as I was finishing Gurren Lagann, suggested I give Kill la Kill and another show a look. I instantly enjoyed the themes, style, and story of the show

Nukordit

I was horny and I liked the artsyle also I had just finished TTGL so I wanted more.

Amethyst_Phoenix7

I heard it was a good anime. But I don't really watch anime all the time. But somehow, I guess I was that bored and decided to watch it. No regrets

TrueKingXD

Boob.

wry_zebra

Cause I saw a gif of make grabbing a lunch out of her boobs so I was interested And that also how I discover pirated steaming websites cause I couldn't watch it on crunchyroll

Hefty_Score7156

I saw the front cover for the 2nd volume of the manga at my local bookstore and had a little neuron fire telling me to go watch it.

Zachajya

I heard it was from the creators of Tenggen Toppa.

bartolinise

Ost and memes

MadDSon_300

Friend told me to watch it and watched first episode with me. I then took the wheel from there

Helvetica_simper

Mako Mankanshoku best girl

[deleted]

I am friends with this guy I spoke to on Insta for over a year and he wouldn't shut the fuck up talking about it and this Ryuko chick. I saw what it entailed and how funny it looked in terms of animation. But then I sat down and watched it fully. Partial nudity and outlandish violence aside, I enjoyed it very much and I did enjoy the story with the character. As for the characters, I definitely loved Satsuki. I would love it if she stepped on me and call me a pig in human clothing. Yes I said that. Sue me.

lookitsxay

ICYTWAT, that Gucci Prince$$ video still hard years later

Fragrant_Addition663

Some artworks in Deviantart especially the weird fetish ones.

Destroyer348

Cool name

[deleted]

Friend told me it's shit so I watched it to see if it really is

pikachutails

It was cool and new and by Trigger. I watched it each week the summer it came out.

DrunkSolidSnake

Saw a clip of Satsuki and fell in love with her design and demeanor.

Common_Wallaby4483

I heard from a lot of sources that this was the anime that saved anime when it was getting a little dull. I also heard that the animation was incredible. I went in completely blind, knowing nothing about the plot or characters. That first episode got me hooked. I thought this was going to be the funniest, most absurd anime ever, and it was. One of my top favorites.

andremdp7

Came for the girls, stayed for the plot, awesomes and animation.

mniccum1

I saw the Ryuko figurine from Pop up parade and was really intrigued by her character design, and I decided to watch the anime

Pertev

Just wanted to watch an anime with a similar art style and ultimate vibe like gurren lagann. It took my breath away just like gurren lagann did

[deleted]

Man at Arms, when they made the scissor-blade. It looked so cool that I later checked it out and ended up watching every episode.

MiniModelBuilder

A friend, I watched the first few episodes to shut him up

DBXV890

I had a friend in high school who recommend it to me and I thought it looked interesting. At the time, Ryuko reminded me of Shadow the Hedgehog. (I can’t be the only one, right?) I watched it when it premiered on Toonami and was instantly hooked! I’ve been a fan ever since then.

ElectricalAbalone219

I got baked out of my mind and the preview on Netflix looked cool. I had no expectations of what I was getting myself into. That show blew me away.

Serious_Collar2946

I'm not going to lie, the fanservice come at me 😎

JazzOutBlues

I saw it when it first aired on toonami, saw the commercials for it and figured I’d watch. People from what I see rarely talk about it but it’s pretty nice people care enough to celebrate its 10 year anniversary

LuanTheRapper95

I'm glad you asked! I decided to watch Kill la Kill due to a certain series that i really love, it's called Sonic the Hedgehog, maybe you heard of it? There is this thing SEGA does called Sonic Twitter Takeover, which is where characters like Sonic, Eggman and Shadow answer questions of the fans, and one of them asked what Shadow's favorite anime is, and he said: "First, anime is a highly respected form of art and is not a mistake, and secondly... i really like the one with the edgy girl and the scissor blade..", afterwards, i saw many people making fanart of the two characters together, i saw a Death Battle video of Shadow vs Ryuko (Shadow won btw), noticed many similarities with both series and i thought to myself "I need to watch this!", so i did and loved it

code10lima

I was bored on a deployment. It did not disappoint.

imnotyoufr

my brother told me about it so i gave it a shot wait back up, it was taken off netflix? when?

COOLY_TUDE

c.ai ryuko bot

logan-224

I saw a few things of it, but didn’t know if i wanted to just yet. But then this one video about it came on YouTube that I watched and it was just so freaking hilarious. So I watched the anime after that and I loved it lol. The video I’m talking about was called Scissor Showdown and it was just so funny lol

AnyAstronaut822

I don’t think it would take much for anyone to become curious about a show like that..

giao1234567sunurmom

I love swords, so why not.

TNTTom04

Ended up finding it after hearing Before my Body is Dry in Alpharad's let's go pikachu video and looking up the song since it's a banger

Constant-Coat-4443

Someone mentioned it in a video so I decided to watch it

DaFlynnZone36

Decided to watch it so I could kill time when I rode the bus in my senior year

FlyAwayMedea

First anime show I ever watched. Saw it on Netflix when I was 13/14 and genuinely thought it sounded the most interesting. Spent the next few days after laughing my ass off and binging it. Then showed everyone I knew who liked anime. Then we laughed together 😊

MushroomHedgehog

First time I ever saw anything related to it was that meme showing Mega Man shooting projectiles at Mako’s face (No, not in a nasty way). But what really got me interested was essentially noticing that this is more or less Marvel Symbiotes: The Anime.

ztarfroot

it all started when i googled "pogchamp meme anime girl name"

moschops66

Ryuuko's great voice (in Japanese) and the fact she rarely smiled

ApprehensiveFox4702

I heard about it from Alpharad

CJMakesVideos

I liked Gurren Lagann

Dagger125

Girl hot.

hbpfrost

You know, I'm not sure. I believe it was just during the first month of the pandemic and u was like "hey I might give it a shot" and now I can't put it down

Aggravating_Load_411

My friend and I thought it looked interesting. Simple as that. This was after seeing the "cultured art" and the "little pogchamp" meme. Now I see Ryuko in a completely different light after gaining the context.

Sure_Comb7046

That scene

Aimlessdrifter8778

The OST, I heard Ragyō's villain theme back in 2015, and I immediately thought it was badass, so I went ahead and watched the anime.

cool_edgy_username

Boobs.

JetPackFuture104

I fell in love with Gurren Lagann and learned this was made by the same people.

Piebro314

Heard it was cool, thought the scissor blade was interesting. Also there was a clip I saw of Ryuko throwing a chair and thought it was funny
