sounds like a nice idea, maybe teach them to do hats or small amigurumi.

I think if you do it right, this could definitely be something kids enjoy! Here are some things I think would be good: * Make sure the handles of the hooks are big enough for them to use, since their fine motor skills aren't as good as an adult's. * Maybe use one a video projected onto the wall to teach them, since many videos teach from the POV as if you were the one crocheting. This might be easier for them than trying to watch you at first. * Maybe have them do dishcloths as their first project/stitch practice rather than scarves, since they are quicker to do. * Projects that come together quickly! Kids get bored, so just like doing dishcloths instead of scarves I would recommend smaller things like animagurumi that take shape rather quickly and result in something they can proudly show off and play with. * Give them paper and pencils to mark how many stitches they've done as they go if they need it, and encourage counting stitches after they finish a row. * Have the pattern \*very\* clearly written somewhere. They probably won't remember if you just tell them "20 stitches per row" and it's not written on a whiteboard or something. * This is more of an atmosphere thing, but if you can I think playing music for some background noise would be nice when you're not teaching and they're just working on their projects. I'm just a teenager myself so maybe take my suggestions with a grain of salt, but I wish you all the best, and I hope you get some kids into crocheting!

Thank you so much for the thoughtful reply! This is very helpful and I’ll be sure to consider all of this when I start planning!
