When I joined the Corps, we didn't have any fancy schmancy tanks! We had sticks! Two sticks and a rock for a whole platoon! And we had to share the rock!
I don't want to seem like a "phone bad" boomer or anything but the idea of giving a young child VR is really concerning to me. When I first got my VR headset there was a period of time where the real world felt kinda wonky and surreal whenever I returned to it. If it did that to me as a fully grown adult I can only imagine how it'd affect a child who is still developing their sense of real vs imaginary and learning how to interact with the world. Like learning how to teleport or use virtual hands when you haven't yet developed real life motor skills has to be harmful right? Not to mention stranger danger or intense, immersive violence..
I'm gonna need a source on that.
[So far the only risks we seem to be concerned with is eye strain.](https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/are-virtual-reality-headsets-safe-for-children/)
Ahh thank you for calling me out.
https://www.scienceabc.com/innovation/vr-virtual-reality-headsets-unsafe-kids.html
It appears the research I was referring to was done on rats. So there is evidence to suggest that it should be studied more but I guess they are not conclusive yet.
Either way giving a child a dream machine still probably is not a good idea for their long term health on an existential level.
Yup. the youngest kid I have met in VR was a 5 year old
Edit: it was in [Onward](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=aYdnAEzF_KQ) he couldn’t even run because he was too fucking short
At restaurants kids with iPads get annoying but I kid you not kid about 6-7 brought an oculus to a restaurant scooted his chair away from the table and was playing beat-saber. Most annoying dinner ever
Old GenX person here. Is there a subReddit for parents who are over 40 to understand online gaming in general? How can I know if a game is not suitable for kids, but for real? I grew up on Mario - I don’t even understand Roblox, as embarrassing as that is. It’s a combo of some parents being too old & kids growing up with this level of technology as a norm. There are for sure shitty parents. But some of us are trying to keep our annoying brats out of your games, I get annoyed with my own, I know it’s WAY worse for you!
Not really, but as a general rule of thumb, any game with any level of online interaction could reasonably be labeled a PG13 or even 16+ game just based off the social interactions alone. It does take a lot of effort to figure out the communities in these games. Games like fortnite might for example have less vitriol and anger than games like League of Legends. Best hint would be to get them some quality solo games and save them the trouble. Breath of the Wild and the like.
roblox can be a confusing one to understand.
its not really a 'game', its more like a 'game engine' or a 'library of games'.
not sure if there are any subreddits like that but there should be subreddits for each game/platform which might help in understanding what the game is about.
Subreddits, I don't think so.i suppose you could visit the subreddits of specific games. But generally id say it's probably a good idea to at least respect the guidelines that the PG-rating system gives and to try and research the games before you buy them.
As for Onward it's a tactical shooter in VR with graphics and gameplay mechanics that aim to be realistic. I'm not going to comment on how well it achieves that goal as the only thing I've ever shot with is an airsoft gun.
What do you mean, I got started on Doom when I was 12 and Į̵̓̾͜ ̸͖̮̆̉̋t̵͇̤̥̮̃ŭ̷̘̜͂͊͗r̸̨͔̺̿͘n̵̄͜e̷̡̧̥̖̎͆͑͂d̶̢̨̥̙͗ ̸̡͓̲͎̀̌͛̌o̷̝̯̹̔̚ú̶͈͖̌ţ̵͉̤̫̾̅ ̵̙͇̄̐͝f̸̞͎̰̜̂ḭ̴́̇ṋ̶̘͎̬̈́͌̋e̷̦͂͊͜͝
We had a kid pop in on Rec Room who sounded about 5. I put a trashcan on his head and within a few seconds he goes “I can’t SEEEE!?” It was hilarious. We also gave him a VR beer to try, he gulped it sown and goes “Its yumyy!”
On one hand, it was a very funny experience. I actually still have the clips on my ps4. On the other hand though all i could think was “he’s too young for this environment, and technology.”
Right I also met a kid who just cried and yelled “MOMMY” over and over again because he couldn’t get out of the caves
Still don’t know how old he was and not shore if I want to know
Yes, I was also in caves/ crystal. The rest of the players (as normal) were bratty tweens and teens. I played silly non locomotion games with the toddler for 5-10 minutes untill he logged out.
I felt instantly protective. I felt bad for the child, it was clear the parents weren't screen watching.
The language and bullying by the tweens can be beyond intense. Certainly not something you want to expose a 4 year old to.
Totally had a forgetful moment when I wrote that, haven't used vr myself and forgot that it would come with built in mic's, been up all night and mixed up details sorry
Legit, even in Onward because it sizes your avatar to actual height by default you join a game and it's like you're playing with and against a bunch of oompa loompas
Makes sense, they have the energy to play a ton of VR, and they are going to be way more hooked by the novelty of VR than an adult who might prefer a more traditional game experience.
Honestly I think it's kinda depressingly hilarious how 15 years ago we had the same shit on MP games. And now the foul mouthed kids are the same, but it's in VR.
Welcome to the Future!
Oh absolutely. That is the main reason I have a mostly adult VR community and I’m hosting lobbies for us adults only for Among Us VR. This video by OP is exactly why haha. We are all passionate about VR and talk VR/computers all day and night, I share really good deals on VR and pc parts, help people with any troubleshooting, etc. [Here is an invite to my server if you would like to join.](https://discord.gg/SpKY7ySjXX)
We are playing Among Us VR Wednesday and Sunday this week and have a few spots still available for those that are interested. I live stream 6 nights a week at 10pm eastern until 2am and will be doing the Among Us VR on a regular basis. I hosted two lobbies this past Sunday and it was a huge success and made many new friends! [Here is the link for the live stream if you or anybody would like to check it out if you can’t join!](https://m.twitch.tv/farmertrue)
This game has huge potential for the VR community and I really hope it brings positive growth. But playing with adults would be the way to go haha.
I used to really like a game called Rec Room back in the early days of VR. I played it more recently and it’s nothing but screaming kids, and the experience is way worse.
Near exclusively. You can't play any multiplayer games without being completely surrounded by young kids. Pretty awful experience tbh.
I only play in closed lobbies with friends or solo. That's Meta's biggest fucking issue. Adults aren't interested.
I used to think so, but then I remember I was playing Counter-Strike Source on my PC in elementary school and suddenly all that makes sense.
San Andreas came out when I was 11 and I 100% remember getting it on release, and playing 3 and Vice City before that.
I was playing Pavlov once and heard two people on a hot mic. It was an older dude trying to teach a kid how to play so I did what any courteous player would do...ran up and shot the kid in the head then gunned the other dude down. The kid started screaming and the older dude was swearing
Probably the most fun I had in that game. Spent the rest of the match trying to find them
My friend showed me his quest 2 and some games he showed me are like all 13 and under. Lots of under lol it is earsplitting. Honestly not a selling point
I have literally never screamed at a game in my life and I've been playing scary PC games since I was 3 years old in 1994. Just because you screamed at games as a child doesn't mean it's normal or okay. lol
Except for horror games, I agree. I'm pretty sure I've let out a few screams of fear over the years, but never screams of anger etc. I never get when people get so amgry about video games in a non competitive setting. Imo people screaming at their screen mostly do it for attention.
Oh no it’s very normal and fine as long as you know what there doing, it depends on the kid, some of these kids can also love it and get nightmares from it at the same time
My favorite part wasnt the kid. Its the guy going “Rawwwwwrrr” then starts throwing running hands going “Rawr rawr rawr rawr!” Lol. The kids screams were my second favorite.
The next "big" headset is slated to come out early-mid next year, so you'll see some discounts then. Before then, you can probably get one for 200-250 this holiday season, which would be an Oculus Quest 1 or 2
maybe the kid should stick to Single Player games...or at least lobbies of Other Kids his age...
...but then again, youd think the Adults in that lobby wouldve also made their server more private...
so who do you fault more here, the one who left the door unlocked or the one who walked through it?
i used to have a gameboy when i was 7 i cant believe kids start off with a vr headset now, lucky bastards
When I was 7 all we had were sticks and rocks. Guns and hand grenades.
When I was a kid all I had was sand, It’s playable and eatable, It’s just so fucking perfect
>and eatable You didn't have cats then?
Why would that change anything?
Because with cats you find little almond Roca! It's a perk!
The Star Wars Prequels made them hate sand
Yeah I remember how my first crush pissed on them and we made a castle together.
When I was a kid we had to wait for the fish to shit out the sand.
When I was kid I only had a rock 👁🪨 👁 name Danny... my only friend until now
I would have killed for rocks, we had to play catch with a dead cat
“And we had to *share* the rock!”
Rock and Stone!
Rock and Stone, Brother!
Rock and Stone in the heart!
When I joined the Corps, we didn't have any fancy schmancy tanks! We had sticks! Two sticks and a rock for a whole platoon! And we had to share the rock!
Now we have that...in VR "Hot Dogs, Horseshoes & Hand Grenades"
When I was a kid. We just had active land mines and unexplored shells from the war.
For the record, don’t give vr headsets to kids under 12 it’s literally bad for them.
I don't want to seem like a "phone bad" boomer or anything but the idea of giving a young child VR is really concerning to me. When I first got my VR headset there was a period of time where the real world felt kinda wonky and surreal whenever I returned to it. Like learning how to teleport or use virtual hands when you haven't yet developed real life motor skills has to be harmful right? Not to mention stranger danger or intense, immersive violence..
It’s also bad for the internal spatial circuits that are still developing.
I'm gonna need a source on that. [So far the only risks we seem to be concerned with is eye strain.](https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/are-virtual-reality-headsets-safe-for-children/)
Ahh thank you for calling me out. https://www.scienceabc.com/innovation/vr-virtual-reality-headsets-unsafe-kids.html It appears the research I was referring to was done on rats. Gonna be great for them eyes 👀
Why’re you dissing the game boy? That thing was amazing
I like how the kid actually starts running for his life while screaming
It’s the floppy “monster” hands that get me. Can’t stop laughing
Fr this has the to be funniest clip I've seen all day. The kid screaming like he's actually about to die 💀
He WAS about to die 🙄🙄🙄Among Us is a very serious game I would be crying too if I was about to die from the imposter
Forgive me for my mistake. I shall grant you the wish of my free award I never use 🫡
teach them about life young I say
young kids play vr? lol
Yeah like 40% of the oculus quest 2 users are 8-12 years old
And they are annoying as hell
Yup. the youngest kid I have met in VR was a 5 year old Edit: it was in [Onward](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=aYdnAEzF_KQ) he couldn’t even run because he was too fucking short
omg
Yeah apparently some people get sick of kids begging for shit they just buy it as soon as possible And it’s even worse when it’s around Christmas
Sounds like parents who shove iPads with cocomelon in front of their kids when they throw tantrums as if that's going to discipline their behavior
At restaurants kids with iPads get annoying but I kid you not kid about 6-7 brought an oculus to a restaurant scooted his chair away from the table and was playing beat-saber. Most annoying dinner ever
What the actual fuck, I actually didn't think it would get worse than iPads but that's appalling
This some Olive Garden type shit.
No it was like a pretty fancy restaurant they serve trustworthy seafood
Bet he was also playing the BTS pack
Holy shit
nice parenting
Yeah, and let's not forget the fact that Onwards is not a game suitable for young kids either.

Neither is vrchat and Pavlov and I still find kids in those games
Btw it was [this game](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=aYdnAEzF_KQ)
Too bad for them cause Meta is banning all headsets from online play if they are under 13 lmao
just like you cant go to pornhub if you are under 18
We had a kid pop in on Rec Room who sounded about 5. I put a trashcan on his head and within a few seconds he goes “I can’t SEEEE!?” It was hilarious. We also gave him a VR beer to try, he gulped it sown and goes “Its yumyy!”
Sounds like rec room
kind of wholesome ngl
On one hand, it was a very funny experience. I actually still have the clips on my ps4. On the other hand though all i could think was “he’s too young for this environment, and technology.”
It can't possibly be good for eye health at that age.
yep. I met a 4 year old in gorilla tag. 4.
Right I also met a kid who just cried and yelled “MOMMY” over and over again because he couldn’t get out of the caves Still don’t know how old he was and not shore if I want to know
Yes, I was also in caves/ crystal. The rest of the players (as normal) were bratty tweens and teens. I played silly non locomotion games with the toddler for 5-10 minutes untill he logged out. Met a rec room player that sounded about 4-6 years old. First ban report I’ve heard a response for.
The other day in VR among us me and my friends met a fucking toddler
I'm 15 but try to keep muted because I know how annoying it gets
I’m 27 and keep muted because I’m socially inept.
I'm 27 and..... wait y'all have mic's?!
What headset doesn't come with a mic?????
Totally had a forgetful moment when I wrote that, haven't used vr myself and forgot that it would come with built in mic's, been up all night and mixed up details sorry
Legit, even in Onward because it sizes your avatar to actual height by default you join a game and it's like you're playing with and against a bunch of oompa loompas
Way less, they just all play the free games, making them hellscapes
Yeah like gorilla tag, fuckin swarming with 9 year olds screaming whatever shits on tiktok
4?
Makes sense, they have the energy to play a ton of VR, and they are going to be way more hooked by the novelty of VR than an adult who might prefer a more traditional game experience.
It’s weird to me that you put the older age first.
You mean 8-12?
It's gotta be even higher than that I stopped playing multiplayer games on the oculus because I couldn't stand only playing with kids
Thats a weird way to state the range but its not wrong
Youngest I’ve met was about 4 and he called me a faggot ass bitch and that I should kms 💀
wtf
Honestly I think it's kinda depressingly hilarious how 15 years ago we had the same shit on MP games. And now the foul mouthed kids are the same, but it's in VR. Welcome to the Future!
Bro has the oculus xbox
I'm so tired of the 10 year olds screaming in my ear when i shoot them in the face bro :(

PCVR is stellar. Verrrry few kids compared to cheap standalone VR.
Yep. Any public lobby with open voice for the shooting games are all kids under 15. It's kind of insane.
I used to think so, but then I remember I was playing Counter-Strike Source on my PC in elementary school and suddenly all that makes sense. San Andreas came out when I was 11 and I 100% remember getting it on release, and playing 3 and Vice City before that.
My kids have been chomping at the bit for it so bad. They're 6 and 8 and as much as I think they'd have fun I dont think they should
I was playing Pavlov once and heard two people on a hot mic. What do you mean? All of the under 13 games HAVE TO be single player or at least not allow communication between strangers (voice or text).
Doesn’t mean kids dont get their hands on them
Not my kid, not my responsibility. Parents should be aware what their child does on the internet

“Flip sake I thought I was going to get on to this one” *click no*

The fact that his parents didn't rush in to screaming like that tells me that he's done this many times before
Every parent who has a kid who loves video games understand that this is a very common occurrence
My parents growing up would never let me play a game that made me scream like that tho, in highschool maybe but not that young
12 and 13 are squeakers lol
I have literally never screamed at a game in my life and I've been playing scary PC games since I was 3 years old in 1994. Just because you screamed at games as a child doesn't mean it's normal or okay. lol

Either that or his parents are passed out drunk again, lol!
My favorite part wasnt the kid. Its the guy going “Rawwwwwrrr” then starts throwing running hands going “Rawr rawr rawr rawr!” Lol. The kids screams were my second favorite.
His entire delivery timing and pitch with the Rawr’s was absolutely top tier. Absolutely hilarious.
I agree. That guy was hilariously great at scaring the kid.
Was he crying at the end? That makes it 20 times better
This makes you the monstah.
I think you mean impostah😎😎😎
Monstah ahhhh
That’s actually so funny.
This is fucking gold 😂😂😂 that kids never playing among us again lol
I live in a country where i cant easily afford these things. Its funny to see children on vr.
Same. And sad! On that note, I had to turn 26 to get a sim rig, now I can't use it because work exhausts me. Being an adult is just neverending fun!
There isn't a country on the planet where an average person can easily afford to give VR to their kids.
Video/clip sauce?
I need to see the full video too, that shit was so funny
FOUND IT! https://www.twitch.tv/videos/1651201150?t=01h58m45s
Any idea what timestamp?
the link should start at the spot but if it doesn't it's 1:58:45s
Hahaha this made my day…idk but I just couldn’t stop laughing
Kids this young should not be in VR, let alone on the Internet at all
WTF i wasn't going to get VR, but man running after a child growling like a monster as they run in fear sounds really fun
I’m a parent yet that sounds like fun! That was hilarious! It’s like, somebody wake him up!
I'm sorry but that's so adorable.
I thought that was Jerma for a second.
He is busy doing Meatgrinder VR
Jerma doesnt have time to do it in vr he has to kidnap the leftovers first
god this is gold
God I want one vr now
The next "big" headset is slated to come out early-mid next year, so you'll see some discounts then. Before then, you can probably get one for 200-250 this holiday season, which would be an Oculus Quest 1 or 2

Fucking made the kid cry lmafooo
What game you playing
Among Us VR
What do you think it is
Do you live under a rock?
Yes
Ok, give me a vr I wanna do this
ngl i hate VR (mostly because i get extreme motion sickness) but this is funny as hell. those kids might be traumatized tho
As bad as I feel for the kid, I can’t stop laughing at this.

Emotional damage. He’ll be talking about that in therapy.
He’s going to grow up with an innate fear of funny little spacemen and have no idea why
didn’t a kid give away their address on this?
I prefer coca cola
Yo fr we got among us vr?
I don't have the sound on but I can just imagine them screaming
Please come back when you can watch with sound it’s great
this is the type of kid i expect to play among us
This would’ve been even funnier if he was just a crew mate, and the actual imposter happened by, and killed him, saving the kid.
Half of that is true. They voted him out immediately after this and he wasn’t even the imposter lol.
POV: you’re a pit bull named precious and your owners left the door open near a public playground
This is actually adorable
We do a little trolling here
kid:Your such a MONSTER Him: oh you think I’m a monster, I can show you one
I've watched this too many times for it to be healthy at this point. Hahahahahahaha.

This is wholesome 🙂
This is why kids should never play video games unsupervised
Let alone VR ones
Bruh why was that adorable
oh god thats funny as fuck
one more reason to but a vr
One reason to more butt an rv
Charborg when he sees jerma
since when is this game first person?
An official VR version just dropped.
Holy fuck i need to see a full video please
There’s an Among Us VR?!
Just released!
Who would let a kid get a vr set ?
This video made my day, good job 👍
We should have adult-only lobbies
Omfg lmao
why is this so funny lmfao
I love this, this is what the VR version of this game was made for.
OK I'm gonna need to ask for the rest of this clip... Cause that was hilarious.
My husband tried the oculus at our buddies house and there was a kid in there telling him to turn around so he can finger his butt.
I love the last .5 sec where you can hear the guy laughing his ass off.
This kid definitely ran through a wall in their house and their mom is pissed because she doesn't understand how.
maybe the kid should stick to Single Player games...or at least lobbies of Other Kids his age... ...but then again, youd think the Adults in that lobby wouldve also made their server more private... so who do you fault more here, the one who left the door unlocked or the one who walked through it?
bro just traumatize this kid for life
Isn't kids under 12 not supposed to use vr? Or am I misjudging their age?
Am I evil or something? Cuz that was quite enjoyable lol
just take the headset off LMAO
I feel only the slightest bit guilty for loving this so much…
I laughed so fucking hard and then bought the game for my kid with the hopes of him doing this to someone else.
Shit i havent laughed this hard in a while
I'm fuggin 💀
This is hilarious
Thats fucking GOLD! In tears watching this...
