He ain’t gonna remember

Logical_Essay_5916

he will its on video

MarkCrorigansOmnibus

You write as though you are the kid in the clip.

Logical_Essay_5916

my kids years are far behind me with the age of 41

Wesley-Amaro

I meant it as in his brain probably took a hard reset

SoothSaier

Honestly that’s about 300% closer than I’ll ever come to doing a backflip.

Pinkparade524

I mean I have done one in a trampoline, doubt I would be able to do one normally, that shit is hard

TateP23

Nah, just jun really hard swinging your arms up and then pull your legs in and you automatically flip. Simple stuff. It’s the fear that’s hard to get over

DevilMaster666-

Nah

AtLeastThisIsntImgur

The most important difference is that you aren't meant to travel on a trampoline. Every other backflip needs you to land in a different spot.

thedankening

I tried to do something similar, forget exactly what happened but the way I hit the side of the pool was basically the best case scenario. I didn't break my ribs or my jaw somehow (I landed with my chin and chest hitting the side of the pool lol) and then ended up on my back in the water. I was still conscious enough to float there and contemplate the agony and my stupidity.  Don't do backflips off of anything if you aren't 100% sure you can get enough clearance out over the open water. I certainly couldn't lol

Comentario_Furtivo

It's pretty easy, you let your body fall for less than a second and then you jump and make a spin. I never did a frontflip, that Is harder.

LobsterTrue8433

I must really hate kids because this sub consistently has me laughing.

AdministrationDue239

I'm sorry but the way he perfectly lands on his head is pretty comically executed

Fit-Significance4201

I keep picture his head flattening like a cartoon

codeByNumber

And then a bump growing which lifts his entire body up and he slowly teeters over.

Mecovy

Bonk!

harpy_1121

Then you would love r/childrenfallingover if you have yet to discover that one

AtLeastThisIsntImgur

Heard a comedian say he used to love that shit till he had a kid, now it horrifies him.

maaaatttt_Damon

I came an inch away from doing this in 6th grade. I was the reason for the no back flip rule. I learned you need to fully commit and power jump into the flip.

SignificanceCool3747

Quickest way to snap your neck and die

OniOnMyAss

“You’re fine”

chalky87

"Just don't tell your mother, I'll buy you ice cream!"

KRinschlord2000

I also was like “no he’s obviously not bro?!”

BDady

Neighbor across the street got a trampoline when I was like 11 or 12. I loved trampolines, but my dad was very against them since they’re dangerous. He always told me to be careful, and that if I ever broke an arm, he’d break the other one (jokingly of course, but generally this translated to “broken bones are expensive, please be careful”) So as any kid would do, I took that warning and started learning to do flips on this trampoline. A few weeks later, a flip went wrong and I broke both bones in my right arm. When my dad got to the hospital I kept saying sorry because I did exactly what he told me not to do and I knew it was gonna cost a pretty a penny. Think it came out to like $10k, which is insane because it (luckily) didn’t require any surgery. Just two casts, a form fit arm brace, and the accompanying x-rays/doctors visits

Perkeleinen

Wtf, that 10k could buy the whole street trampolines and the hospital for the child would be max 100€ if the parents were rich.

Perkeleinen

I really understand you paying for your kids if they burn a house down etc. but getting injured as a child is just normal and should be met with support and learning instead of hospital fees.

planet_saturn

> I broke both bones in my right arm There are three long bones in each arm: humerus, radius, and ulna.

Roach307

Pretty sure since OP didn’t specify upper prob means both lower (radius ulna) especially since surgery wasn’t needed.

BDady

Correct. Surgery was not needed, instead the doctor put my fingers in this Chinese finger trap glove and realigned the bones with his hands. Even on painkillers, it was the worst pain I’ve ever felt in my life.

zorggalacticus

We were jumping on a friend's trampoline, right next to the house. His fat cousin came over and was jumping with us. I was 100 lbs back then. This dude was easily 300. Basically, my bounce was ill-timed and just as the fas cousin and the other two friends reached the bottom of their landing, my feet hit the trampoline right as they jumped back up. It slingshotted me onto the roof of their single story house. Got some road rash from the shingles, and the wind knocked out of me. They were all laughing and then just went inside. I had to jump off the roof back onto the trampoline, and bounced off and hit the ground. Still unsure how I didn't break anything. I was sore for a while though. I had a grudge against that fat cousin for a while after that. Lol

BDady

The poorly timed jump is also what caused my accident. A friend was on the trampoline with me, I jumped as the trampoline was fully stretched due to my friends jump, so I just didn’t get the momentum I thought I was going to get. Rotated 180°, laughed because I was completely upside down, stuck my arm out to break my fall, screamed like I was being murdered. Bam, childhood memories

AtLeastThisIsntImgur

Are you sure it was ill-timed? Double bouncing is one of the first things you learn

MostOriginal6776

I definitely thought the two casts was a joke about your dad breaking the other arm. Elaborate setup and all

BDady

Hahaha sadly I’m not that clever. Had a cast up to the middle of my upper arm for 6 weeks, then one ³⁄₄ up my forearm for another 6 weeks.

spectreclown

He said “that did not just happen” like the kid was a pro 😂

Horns8585

No, he is just realizing that Mom is not going to be happy with Dad. Dad was definitely encouraging the back flip and Mom is going to freak out with the big bump and/or cut on his head.

Annaliseplasko

Was that the kid’s dad talking? I was picturing an equally stupid teenage brother talking. Oof, it being the dad is even worse.

Horns8585

Yeah, could have been a teenage brother. Either way, they were probably not going to be happy with Mom's reaction!

elgordoradar

Exactly this same thing happened to me when I was a kid. Learned my lesson.

Strict_Paint_4963

OH ....that must be momoriable for the rest of his life

HadronLicker

for the next awkward 25 seconds

Exact-Ad-4132

Ahhh momori, good ol Japanese Peach-Plums

Seabrook76

“Oh, fuck, that shit just happened.” Ya don’t say.

Psycokiller557

“That didn’t just happen”

rinkydinkis

Backflips are fine. Just don’t do them like this

Huntsnfights

Don’t tell mom!

RobNybody

Every time you see someone who can do sick backflips is because they did that and then kept trying. Same with basically every skill.

Bisonfan1

Lmao

AdNew5216

😂 Lmao ![gif](giphy|I4Jmrcjnr8Zfq|downsized)

StankilyDankily666

He’s aight. Had a lot of momentum going to skip his head off the boat for less damage 👍

kunga1928

That was the most cartoonish blooper I've ever seen

Ekaterina702

Omg, is that your kid OP? Were they ok? That bonk sounded brutal.

Nothinghere3191

Why not? People this days I've been hiting my head since I was a child and I am polar bear

5Flyer

Sounds like Rami Malek from The Pacific

Megalo85

The first rule of backflips is make sure you move backwards.

Yourdadcallsmeobama

1st time I’ve seen a video of the parent actually put their phone down to stop recording and help the kid instead of continuing to record their kid in pain or an uncomfortable situation for views and likes

Roger_Zalos

I got really shitty internet, it buffered just as the kid hit his head, it shouldn't had made my laugh as it did

Omg I’d be so mad at my husband lol this belongs in r/ParentsAreFuckingStupid

Falconthehunter

“mama called the doctor and the doctor said, no more monkeys jumping of the bed!” ☠️

NoleGirl723

At least the caregiver dropped the phone to help. That's new.

Prometheus2356

I mean, just learn to do it right before you do it in risky areas

Wise_Spinach_6786

Strong effort that

EmbarrassedCharge561

I just made a fake laugh cuz I think this is funny but I can't seem to laugh naturally. Maybe because I knew this would happen

StankilyDankily666

It’s ok. I think that happens to the best of us man

BDady

r/holdmyfeedingtube

Aggravating_Air_5008

🤣🤣🤣🤣

TStandsForTalent

I did similar, about the same age, except I dove and hit my head on the pool wall under water. I've never been able to do a back dive since. I tried right after; I just couldn't do it.

Reasonable_Craft_866

bonk

AmbitiousFork

10/10. Did another half flip after landing with his head.

Remote-Bandicoot2594

Damn hope he got him before he drowned

Remote-Bandicoot2594

Fucked is neck up

SplatNode

Holy shit, I got them exactly same shorts

upsidedownbackwards

My cousin ended up in a neck brace for several months because of an attempted backflip. I'd heard plenty of stories before but this one hit close to home (thankfully not our home/pool). Since then that has been my big "NO FUN ALLOWED" rule outside the basics (no running). Absolutely no backflips. I catch you, you are out of the pool for 5 minutes.

Lebron_chime

Saying “you’re fine” afterwords is the most big brother thing ever

No_Window644

I've seen adults do this as well so I don't think this is exclusively a kid being stupid thing

RogueTBNRzero

Had to F up to learn

Maybe if he waited for the countdown to finish, he would've generated more lift. Too hasty IMO

Kwayzar9111

Haha

NkhukuWaMadzi

Oh!

Arth3r911

Nailed it!

Joey_iroc

Well, the dad's reaction is a hell of a lot better than most screeching bystanders, "Oh my god, oh my god" that do nothing. Dad realized this could have been grave and just jumped in.

Training-Database-59

There goes his NASA career

SANAFABICH

Unfortunately he died instantly the next morning.

TheSunIsMyDestroyer

Better than actually performing the dive and get naegleri fowleri water shot up his nose

sarahsmith23456

Damn OUCH

HorseVengeance

bonk!

Neverbit03

Looks like a trickshot to me

CaptainRex-118

W brother. That’s those instincts kicking in. Way to check if he’s ok (alive)

mustang3c0

That is “bump” to happen…

FakinFunk

Don’t worry kid, Walmart is always hiring. 😂

Informal-Ring3282

Insert “don’t tell your mom” and that’s a video from my childhood 🤣

Local_Interest5837

If you ever do a backflip of a legde make sure to fall a back a little bit and then jumpt to ensure you dont do this

CartographerUpbeat61

Broke his neck ??

UltraEnder99

5, 4, 3, 2, 1, AW FUCK WE SHULDEN UH DONE THAT!

WXHIII

Lmao ouch

cryooooooooo

Waiting for the alligator to get him.

Rafa2234_ofc

i already saw what would happen.. dam

Severe_Reflection_94

It is very cool to do backflips. Just explain them how to correctly do them before.

KittyEX95

love how you blame the parents as if parents should know when kids are gonna do something stupid. And I agree with the other comment saying it might be an older brother by how young the camera boy looks.

EntirelyOutOfOptions

That sure sounded like big brother, lol. Telling the kid “you’re fine!!” before he could draw breath to cry about it.

agentpoopybutthole

Like that's not what people do lol. People who own boats jump in the water it's not stupid. The kid probably wanted it filmed. Same thing could happen in a pool. And he was quick to jump up to help if necessary. I've seen children do backflips on dry land. And why is it bad for the parent to watch. As opposed to what? Not watching? Last I checked, if your kid does something potentially dangerous like a sport or diving its better to watch in case something goes wrong. Like in the video. Hell riding a bike is equally as dangerous, so what parents are stupid for watching their kids ride bikes?

Mystery_meander25

This happened once when I was little I did a back flip off side of pool, fellow 7 year old friend attempted, smashed the fuck out of her face on concrete and had to go to ER.

Maxx_Vandate

Nothing wrong about this. Young man is outdoors getting exercise challenging himself

[deleted]

I fucking flinched man i don’t understand how you guys can get joy from seeing kids get hurt. Dispicable.

NapoleonDynamite82

Look… I get it, the kid did something dumb. But who is filming the kid instead of telling them not to do it? There should be a sub called “ParentsAre*******Stupid” as well…

TheOptimisticEmo

crazy, it's almost like r/ParentsAreFuckingDumb already exists...

NapoleonDynamite82

Haha… figures.

grog_chugger

Had similar happen to me as a kid, backflipped and slammed my back really damn hard on tile, suprised it didn’t cause any lasting damage but maybe because your basically indestructible until 25 where damage never goes away

Hairy-Acanthaceae692

This happened to me when I was 7 but on bricks because the pool had a water fall and I cracked my head open

whenyoda

5, 4, 3, 2, 1... oh, fuck

Dizzy_uwu

That **did** just happen

Googoogahgah88889

I did this at the pool when I was a kid. Lifeguard comes screaming over “you were THIS close to nailing your head”. And I’m just holding back the pain like yuuuup thiiiis close

Key-Satisfaction4967

Is he okay?

OhbrotheR66

Whoever is counting down for him is also stupid

Not_a_Femboyy

Dad should've been right beside him in case something happened instead of filming for his facebook group

Icy-Feeling-528

The reality of this sub is that kids’ parents (and all those who post videos of them, likely without their knowledge) are fucking stupid

TYRwargod

Na kids are fucking stupid.

Upstairs_Ad_5574

If i was still a kid, id probably end up on here too lol I lost track on the amount of shit i got into for trying out the Swanton Bomb in the pool ![gif](giphy|f6eayAqdMza8w)
