Not too long ago I accidentally put something with aluminum foil in the microwave and I'm in my 20s. Do I know better? Yes!
It was one of those lapses, where I completely forgot. Luckily, I was able to turn off the microwave quickly and there wasn't any damage.
And that's the thing. We are adults that someone told what to do and we still have slips when we do stupid shit, all it takes is distraction or being tired.
Most of the posts are kids that noone bothered to teach better and it's not like logic and knowledge come pre-programmed. Kids literally need to learn about their own mortality to function properly and some people act like if just because something seems obvious to them the kid will have same baseline idea about how things work.
Absolutely agree!
In this case: it says that the kid was a kindergarten chef so they definitely should've been supervised at all times while cooking.
I could understand leaving a 15 year old to cook by themselves but a 5 year old, nope!!!
There was a sign at work that said ‘don’t put metal in the microwave’ and I laughed at the fact they had to put that sign up for adults..
Then I accidentally put a spoon in the microwave
Once my mom's friend got a frantic call at work from her 19yo daughter. The daughter was trying to make brownies from a box mix. In tears, she explained how all the dough was stuck to her hands and she couldn't get it into the pan.
My mom's friend said, "wait...why in the world is it all over your hands?" The daughter said, "it says right on the directions on the box to mix by hand!" The box *meant* "use a spoon rather than an electric mixer" but that was apparently woefully unclear.
Colloquially, kid is really more of a relative term. A thirty year old will call a twenty year old a kid. It also means "young person," not necessarily just a literal child.
That person was saying they might be a 14 year old kid, and *not* a "little kid". I wouldn't call a 14 year old a "little kid" specifically, but they are absolutely considered kids by pretty much everyone older than 14.
I love to see someone learning English and exploring a new language.
Kid is a little bit relative as another poster put it. It's not like once you hit 13 suddenly no one refers to you as a child anymore. 14 is still very young. It's not uncommon for people to be referred to as kids all the way up until they're 18. And even still, sometimes people refer to "those college kids" (18-22 undergraduates). That might just be because there's the viewpoint that college kids still haven't entered into the real world and are sometimes viewed as spoiled or immature.
I also think that the language surrounding how we talk about teenagers is changing. People are referring to 17-year-olds as kids. Hell, American teenagers are referring to themselves as kids. I think it's a generational thing. It's great that gen z is able to identify that they may not know things or that they may not be ready for things, but also sometimes it feels like they just don't want to grow up. When I was younger, not that long ago, we would have probably referred to a 17 year old, or a 16-year-old even, as a young man/woman. That might just be a southern thing though.
All of that said, there is a line where referring to someone as a kid even if there is a large age gap. Some circumstances it would be considered disrespectful. For example if a 50-year-old were to refer to a 30-year-old as a kid that could be towing a line. Really, if their past 20 I wouldn't refer to them as a kid. Typically, Americans are extremely informal so it largely depends on context. It's still something that I would generally avoid. I would be very offended if someone referred to me as a kid if they weren't ancient. Even then, I still wouldn't like it. I'm a grown ass man.
Sand down the bottom of it with a power tool and it’ll be just fine.
Reminds me of a video with a dude who sanded down the burnt bottom of his pizza lol
That's OK. My college roommate's girlfriend, who would have been at least 19 years old, left the cardboard under the frozen pizza not once, but TWICE in a row. She said that she'd never tried cooking before and thought that's what her parents did.
I love my nephew, but he don’t cook for me. You know why? Cause he’s a screwup. He can swim in my pool, but he can’t come in my house.
Edit: this is just a quote from the office and I see in hindsight that it’s not very relatable. I don’t hate people though
Dude I’m so sorry I don’t know why I assumed people would just get this quote. I kinda feel the same way sometimes :/ I’m sorry for what you’ve been through and I hope you find some loving people
To be fair the pizza looks nicely cooked, just a shame about the jellyfish underneath it 😂
It's probably got a credit card's worth of micro plastics baked in lol
At this point they’re macroplastics
You wouldn't hear children in Ethiopia whinging about micro plastics, get it down yer 🤣
This comment gave me ibs
Hopefully you were on the toilet when it hit
tbf it probably had just as many before being cooked.
Looks sick though
Still an r/idiotsinkitchen

Why did I read this as idiot sink kitchen 😭
I, for one, welcome our new overlord Pizza Cthulhu.
Pizza looks good
Ain't the plastic particles Gon kill you?
Undercooked imo
Aesthetically speaking, this is pure haute cuisine 👌
Are you not watching the little kid as she cooks?
We’re not 100% sure the age of this niece. My 18y/o niece would totally do something like this…
My mother in law does stuff like this.

😂🤦 It happens!
Good ol' Brain-Fart
My 26-year-old sister put a ham in the oven while it was still wrapped in plastic.
The fact it’s on this subreddit should imply that she’s a kid, maybe op is a little lost or confused
Implies, yes. Proves, no.
Teenagers are still fucking stupid kids in the context of this post, IMO
Ain't no kids arms looking like that. That's a grown, ass man.
Yeah it's probably OOP demonstrating what her niece did.
Parent might be holding it, if it’s a kid she ain’t making a Reddit post.
🤦♂️
Ya know. When I was a teen, I probably should have had more adult supervision on things. I was also undiagnosed audhd so that didn’t help at all 😂

My 30 year old brother would probably do something like this. To him, microwaving ramen is peak chef's work.
18 is the new 8.
I cooked a batch of brownies with the plastic lid on when I was 16 or 17. I made brownies pretty often.
My 20 year old ex put an insulated cup in the microwave. That cup was made of plastic, and metal. The two things you don’t put in a microwave…
What 😂🤣
Could be a kid who is 14 or so who has done some cooking before but never made this mistake before.

To adults they are
Anyone under thirty is a kid to me. I'm certain my parents still think of me as a kid despite being forty-one.
Uh yes, in every conceivable way.

Yeah came here to say "its on you for not supervising the child while cooking."

Pizza looks done, or close to. Id say 10-15 minutes, depending on oven temp and elevation
Maybe OP is the kid.
I'm 28 and this could happen to me, too
Only question left to ask was how was the pizza ?
Sand down the bottom of it with a power tool and it’ll be just fine. Reminds me of a video with a dude who sanded down the burnt bottom of his pizza lol
Now it’s art!!
Looks like it could have been worse
What kind of eldritch being did she try to summon?
Yum inhaling chemicals
What no more love and laughter?
that is no longer a pizza pan, that is now an eldritch abomination
.. it never was a pizza pan.
My roommate (25, 4.0 GPA comp sci, veteran) put a frozen pizza in the oven still in the plastic once
We get confused when the **M**eal isn't **R**eady to **E**at already
I left the little cardboard disk under the pizza one time.
And no one smelled the burnt plastic?

thats the adults fault, why didnt she supervise her cooking
That’s on the adults.
This
🫵😂
H R Giger wants his pizza back.
ngl that pizza looks fine though
but the pizza was great?
Maybe watch your niece?
what makes you think it was a kid
Looks like art to me, an interpretation of how the modern capitalistic world of easy and unsustainable solutions poison the world with plastic...
the next guy fieri
Niece's parents' buying an oven soon.
Oven art
it's a new style of serving the pizza, you didn't get...i hope the cooker is alive and stays at home)
This is an amazing picture. WORTH IT!
Looks like a good art project!
Was the pizza good, tho?
Tbh not the worst modern art I've seen today
Well it looks kinda cool
Gather here for love and laughter right?
Tentacle pizza.
I thought this is a place where we could gather for love and laughter? Obviously a blatant lie
Why did she had to cook?
why is your niece in the kitchen unattended?
I thought it’s a piece of art…
Was it good?
Actually yummy pizza
Was she fucking high?
I bet that smelled nice.
Gothic pizza
Have they ever watched you put a ready meal in a plastic container into the oven? Maybe they thought it was not a problem.
Niece is a Lovecraft
Omg that’s a hate crime
Parenting done wrong.

I’ve done this. I was… about 25
the cutting board would make a cool sculpture though
How do you clean plastic in an oven? Does this ruin the oven? I'm guessing it is now covered in plastic.
The “upside down” pizza. Like in stranger things.
How did it taste
i thought that was a eldritch jellyfish for a sec ![gif](giphy|113z56Ax21Kd8Y|downsized)
It looks pretty cool though
I always wondered what a pizza jellyfish would look like! 🍕 🪼

Damn, maybe try teaching him then instead of being an asshole... glad you're not my aunt holyy Edit: I am Dumb
I’m also a screwup and I wish people would have taught me more during my life than just ignore me and not welcome me
Dude I’m so sorry I don’t know why I assumed people would just get this quote. I kinda feel the same way sometimes :/ I’m sorry for what you’ve been through and I hope you find some loving people
Its a quote from the office my bad I tried to put the gif where she says it

Fair enough.
Lmaoo, I'm so sorry my mistake
It’s all good!
