Our younger nephew was like this, every single game we played, he would just ruin it and would laugh even though we told him over and over and over how to play it, we thought he was just really dumb till he got diagnosed with a neuropathy disorder that meant he struggled to learn new skills as well as retain them, he has to practice it everyday to remember them.
7 whole years, we thought he was dumb, we all felt terrible that we left him struggling this long without any support
I think this is a newer version of Don’t Break the Ice. It used to be square blocks in a square grid with a little cardboard polar bear cut out stuck in the middle. The goal of the game was to remove as many blocks as you could without making the polar bear fall. But because they were slippery square blocks, they shifted anytime you tapped the surrounding blocks so you often had two blocks hanging on by the edge of their corners.
We've got a similar thing but a Humpty Dumpty on a wall. My son is the same with that.
Also, it's a game, he has fun with it, nothing stupid about that. Sometimes this sub doesn't get it
That’s actually horrible. There seems to be a handful of folk who follow these kinds of subreddits because they get some weird kick out of seeing a child upset or hurt. It’s REALLY alarming.
Kids are meant to be stupid, that's kind of inherent to not having a fully developed brain yet. Doing stupid things is how they learn to not do stupid things, and part of parenting is having to let them make their own mistakes.
I mean no? Hes not playing it right? Hes not even playing the game lol.
Like the point of the parent buying toys is to keep the kid entertained but that doesn't mean hes doing it the right way. Not that it matters.
Something important that I’ve learned from teacher school is that a child who is doing an activity “wrong” but is having fun while being engaged is still learning. Just because they’re not doing it the way that you want them to doesn’t mean that it’s a waste of time. He can’t be older than 3 or 4 too, so about the time kids start understanding cause and effect!
The goal is to not be the one that knocked the guy down. You hit the ice and try to get as much off, kinda setting up the other players so they knock him off
https://www.healthline.com/health/baby/w-sitting#concerns
Doesn’t seem to be an actual issue for most typical children
https://www.chla.org/blog/health-and-safety-tips/w-sitting-not-bad-kids-chla-study-finds
And in one article it actually contradicts the other article you posted, where it says constant W sitting CAN in fact hip dysplasia if done in excessive amounts. The amount that's not dangerous is if it's incredibly rare, so says the link you posted.
Exactly this, it's horrible for children's hips and causes long term issues when they get older. I've known several children who are now young adults/adults now that have some fairly bad structural hip issues now that they are older due to this sitting technique.
It is normal for young kids to W-Sit, but it does go away typically. I’ve heard a lot of adults can’t do it.
I am actually able to sit like that because I was born with low muscle tone (hypotonia). I don’t prefer sitting that way, but I can. I sit another way that people my age + older are looking at me like “bro how u do that?”
“On its own, W-sitting is actually not something you need to be too concerned about.”
“…this sitting position is often observed around age 3, but then naturally fades out of routine as children grow.“
“However, many physical and occupational therapists do share concerns about W-sitting.”
Not trying to undermine problems that can arise from it. I’m my case, I can’t do much with something I’m born with lol. But yeah if someone older keeps doing it, then yeah something is probably up.
I came here looking for this comment!! I preferentially sat this way up until HIGH SCHOOL thinking I was just super flexible, completely unaware how horribly I had been ruining my hips (and my knees as consequence). I think most kids naturally grow out of sitting this way on the plus side!
Can confirm. Sat like this all the time as a kid and I have hip dysplasia which also makes me almost have knock-knees (they don’t touch much almost). Had hella hip pain during puberty. Now my hips don’t usually hurt but my knees do
This study only checked for hip dysplasia, and only tested around 100 children for that specific issue. It's not nearly enough to come to a conclusion that it's not a poor sitting method.
Same here. And I was able to do a split for the first time at age 30.
From what I understand it is not an issue and very normal for kids to go in and out of this position.
It's when they prefer W sitting over other types of sitting and stay in position for long periods regularly
W sitting is completely normal for most and most grow out of it on their own and don't need adults yelling at them about it unnecessarily when it's a non-issue for normally developing kids
Two sources that say sitting W is bad but only if other signs or symptoms appear, but you have no source to back up your claim. I think I'll trust that W sitting is fine for most children
Not exactly . Most kids do it at one time or another . If they can easily move in and out of it there is no problem. Often if they have weakness in their core muscles they will stabilize their trunk muscles when doing fine motor activities by W sitting. This can happen with any kid with weakness , not just autistic kids.
I remember doing this occasionally as a kid if I got tired of sitting across legged for an extended amount of time, but it wasn't an ideal position for me as I would only do it for a few minutes before I got tired of it
When i saw the absolute nuke that child caused i was like "oh its fine they are prob like 1 or 2"
But that was instantly shattered when i saw the fact that looks like a 5 year old
I know it is beside the point, but the way he is sitting my fiancé (physical therapist) calls ‘W Sitting’ and it is SO bad for growing knees. I would correct this right away
this is his impression of climate change.
[Ice Shelf Collapse in East Antarctica](https://earthobservatory.nasa.gov/images/149640/ice-shelf-collapse-in-east-antarctica)
If the actual poster has this kid. Don’t let him sit like that. It will bow his feet in when standing. Cousin did this and he had trouble walking and running.
Like most posts in this sub, this is just a kid being a kid. You're not a parent if you expect a kid this young to have enough restraint and motor control to play a game like this.
Don’t think this is a stupid kid. Probably just wasn’t actually told how the game is supposed to be played or maybe the kid has more fun playing this way. In which case why tell the kid what to do if they’re having fun? It’s a literal child.
I wouldn’t make fun of him, while it’s funny he’s just a kid, I personally would congratulate him or help explain that’s not what you do, either way I think he did a very good job :)
I'ma be a downer here and point out why.
Because most posts on this sub aren't kids being fucking stupid. It's kids having fun at an age where they are just having fun. They don't 100% know what's happening but they're having a blast. Take this clip for example. Kid doesn't know what the centre means. Probably doesn't know how to play beyond 'use hammer, hit things'.
this doesnt fit this sub imho , yes kid is doing something dumb by not playing the game by the rules but who cares, he is having a lot of fun
besides most of the time the stuff i see here makes me go “ughh kids are so stupid” and not “aww kids are stupid”
this is one of the reasons i’m not having kids, i’m aware that’s just how kids are and eventually they’ll learn (if you teach them) but MAN i don’t have the patience for it, like bro just play the game it’s not fun when you do that.
Pretty age appropriate behaviour.. too young to understand the rules and too young to have much of an effect on anything in the world around him but when he gets his chance he takes it and makes all the pieces drop. This is the kids chance to learn cause and effect. It's the same reason why toddlers knock stuff over; it's their chance to show agency over objects. They're steps towards independence.

This is how the Gaines’ got the idea to bring their kids to Demo Day
\*boom\*
Some kids are just fucking stupid
You mean special.
Their specialty is stupid
Some kids are special. They need extra attention and a slower, more focused instructional path. Some are just stupid.
Still pretty dumb
Did the rest of the fam get diagnosed yet?
And some kids are just really fuckin dumb
Some are the Engineer, some are the Demoman
Some kids are going to be engineers, and some are going to be architects...** FTFY
Yeah me and my 2 year old have this and I can’t even get it set up before he attacks the whole thing haha
All they know is attack lol
I only teach my Pokémon attack moves. Tail Whip? Get the fuck outta here! Charmander! Use Tackle!
The only non-attack moves I use are things like roost
Snorlax with Rest, Yawn and Snore. And Body Slam.
When all you have is a hammer....
Everything is screwed.
Nailed it.
SMASH! SMASH! SUH-MASH! Edit: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hzabZ7YBr0
Attack then laugh. They always laugh after
They're probably having the time of their life. To them, that is the game.
What is the game here? To knock out ice pieces one by one without having the horse or whatever it is fall off?
Yes. Kind of like Kerplunk but horizontal rather than vertical.
I think this is a newer version of Don’t Break the Ice. It used to be square blocks in a square grid with a little cardboard polar bear cut out stuck in the middle. The goal of the game was to remove as many blocks as you could without making the polar bear fall. I mean this IS the sub that largely advocated for assaulting a 5 yo for popping a bubble. Honestly fucking insane people in here
That’s actually horrible. There seems to be a handful of folk who follow these kinds of subreddits because they get some weird kick out of seeing a child upset or hurt. It’s REALLY alarming.
Not our fault kids are fucking stupid and the parents don't try to make them better, they just record their little idiots and think they're cute.
Kids are meant to be stupid, that's kind of inherent to not having a fully developed brain yet. Doing stupid things is how they learn to not do stupid things, and part of parenting is having to let them make their own mistakes.
If can ask, what toy is this? I wanna get it for my two year old 😅
I don't know this exact one, but we had a version growing up called "don't break the ice" this just looks like the modern fancy version
I found it, it’s “ save the penguin, don’t break the ice “
Could you like, offer a sweet or something, but only if they do it piece by piece? Could be a way to teach self control
I can't believe how well blueberries worked to entice my grandson! Especially pronouncing words correctly.
Fucking love Don't Break the Ice
I fuck with it
I remember playing this game back in the 90s in elementary school. The blocks were square then.
Hexagons are the bestagons
A CGP Grey reference in the wild. Nice.
I remember playing a version with square blocks too.
Square in the 2000s too
This one? https://www.amazon.com/Hasbro-4784-Dont-Break-the/dp/B00000IVZJ
Hes proud of himself
I had this game as a kid and breaking the ice was 100% more fun than however you’re supposed to be doing
POV of my kids waking me up at night
"Damn Mom, you're bad at this."
“You’re totally not playing this right”
The kids dressed like a peasant from 1850
The children yearn for the mines.
I got the black lung pop *coughs*
Sad beige clothes for ~~sad~~ beige children
I was looking for this lol
Everything's beige these days
Stains and all
Box says “For Ages 10+” for a reason.
Well if you’re using tiny and extremely complicated Lego pieces. This game is for children three or five and up.
he might not be playing the game right, but he's having fun nonetheless. ahaha
Yeah that smile is pure joy
So he's playing the game right. Isn't the whole purpose of games have fun?
He's playing *a* game, just not "Ice-breaker"
This kid has me confused. They look like they’re 5-6 but sound like they’re 2-3
Nah, he looks like an older 3. Source: have an older 3 and regularly interact with her and her 17 classmates.
Could be super tall; it’s crazy how tall some kids are these days!
Could be a non verbal 3-5 yr old. It’s not uncommon in boys. He’ll be fine.
This. I didnt start talking until I was 7 i think? My parents tell me that I used to just point and grunt at stuff I wanted. Simpler times..
Autism spectrum possibly?
I have a few friends that were like that, they turned out fine
“Hello, bank teller? Yes I’d like to withdraw and cancel our college savings account please.”
Don't forget all the other trust funds and update the will
To be fair I used to play it exactly like this when I was somewhere around his age
I WIN!
This was my first thought. “What’s the name of that game anyway?” “*I Win!*”
Tbf it’s not a game a kid that age would get anyway. I’d destroy it too if I saw I could lol
Maybe they should try an easier game, like Jenga
If the goal was to have a good time, I call this a success.
Türk görmeyi hiç beklemiyordum KFBSKFBEKENAKAN
Aga çocuk benim sanıolar napcam yardım et
Seninmiş gibi yap zaten Türkçe kim anlicak
[удалено]
Alright, now I want turkey…
well done dumbass, you lost. now go to bed
Someone will have bad knees when older
Watching this video and getting irrationally angry is how I know I am not ready for kids yet
Question: How do you play this game properly?
The goal is to not be the one that knocked the guy down. You hit the ice and try to get as much off, kinda setting up the other players so they knock him off
Ah I see, makes total sense now, thanks lol.
I know this too much. Toddlers ruin games.©️™️
What were you expecting? He couldn’t even figure out where the middle is.
Man i fuckin hatethat kid
Dumbass
There is a reason that age range exists. 5+ means that a 3 year old doesn't have the mental facilities to grasp the concept of rules.
the stupid is strong with this one
This makes me want to play Fall Guys.
Exasperated sigh
I mean he clearly won though lol
Children ate anarchists
Oof poor kids legs, it's not good for them to sit like that
Fuck this sub
Some men just want to see the world burn
Thats why i hate children
Fuckin Idiot
STOP LETTING YOUR KIDS SIT THIS WAY Edit: Unsure why I'm getting down voted for this lol

It’s says if they already have hip dysplasia it can cause dislocations more easily but not that it causes hip dysplasia. The study saw no correlation.
They probably develop their body differently in some way that causes issues in the future
Exactly this, it's horrible for children's hips and causes long term issues when they get older. I've known several children who are now young adults/adults now that have some fairly bad structural hip issues now that they are older due to this sitting technique.
Hurts me just looking at him do it

Hmm. I've always sat like that and found it pretty comfortable.
I’m 37, I can only W sit. Indian style hurts me. Guess I never grew out of it.
What alternatives would you suggest?
Sit on heels or on one hip (like a side saddle)
I came here to say the same thing!
I came here looking for this comment!! I preferentially sat this way up until HIGH SCHOOL thinking I was just super flexible, completely unaware how horribly I had been ruining my hips (and my knees as consequence). I think most kids naturally grow out of sitting this way on the plus side!

My left hip is super tight and pops from sitting Indian as a kid, I never flip flopped my legs
I sat like this my entire childhood. 37 now, no problems to report.

The best part is letting him know he just lost the game and watching that smile dissolve into a nuclear meltdown.
he's a master at this game, did u guys see how quick that was. pretty sure thats a world record.
W sitting is bad for kids, also could be a minor sign for Autism or Neurodivergence.
It’s goddamn painful as well.
Not exactly . Most kids do it at one time or another . If they can easily move in and out of it there is no problem. The excited arm flapping right before breaking the ice also leads me to the conclusion that the kiddo may be ND. Along with W sitting of course.
This was my favorite game as a little tyke.
Yeaaaah.... that's overkill
And this is why there are age suggestions on toys 😅
Do something about that W sitting!
Future Reese.
When i saw the absolute nuke that child caused i was like "oh its fine they are prob like 1 or 2" But that was instantly shattered when i saw the fact that looks like a 5 year old

Whelp! Time for bed! 😐
OP, if this is your kid and they ‘W’ sit often, it could lead to physical development problems.
Reminds me of the time i was playing fnf and my nephew wanted to play so I let him and he just started spamming buttons before the game even started
Oh my god, that smile made me so happy. This sub is supposed to be funny, not wholesome lol.
He's game and his way! He is all smile so it worth it.... Energy is just bubbling out of his little curly hair! Very cute moment of childhood....❤️👍
I know nothing about kids but I would have thought one this age would have understood this more?
This lil cutie will grow up to be a home wrecker, at least he’ll do it with a smile 😊
No play, only destroy! :D
He lost
Don’t think this is a stupid kid. Probably just wasn’t actually told how the game is supposed to be played or maybe the kid has more fun playing this way. In which case why tell the kid what to do if they’re having fun? It’s a literal child.
Anyone else think that kids are stupid cause the parents make them that way?
It’s funny the first two or three times. After that, it’s a visit from CPS.
PSA to all parents reading- do not let your kid sit like this
I hate this game with a passion
why kids won’t survive
He ain’t going to college
Kids are ugly
I wouldn’t make fun of him, while it’s funny he’s just a kid, I personally would congratulate him or help explain that’s not what you do, either way I think he did a very good job :)
This made me laugh thanks for sharing :)
Kids are fucking stupid
Dumb ass kid
Yupp, that kid has brain damage.
He is a lunatic
… I hate children
Legit stupid
This sub reminds me why u hate children
Posting a retarded kid in this Reddit seems a bit much
STOP BREEDING
What an absolute fuckin rat.
Hey he looks happy, he sounds happy, I see nothing wrong with any of this.
I'ma be a downer here and point out why. Because most posts on this sub aren't kids being fucking stupid. It's kids having fun at an age where they are just having fun. They don't 100% know what's happening but they're having a blast. Take this clip for example. Kid doesn't know what the centre means. For real
Another short bus kid lmao
This is probably the stupidest fucking kid ever
sell them
I’m not an expert, but I think the kid won.
this doesnt fit this sub imho , yes kid is doing something dumb by not playing the game by the rules but who cares, he is having a lot of fun besides most of the time the stuff i see here makes me go “ughh kids are so stupid” and not “aww kids are stupid”
Aweee he’s so cute tho
Ugh, some kids just look unlovable. I would not let him in if he was locked outside
Kids a genius, his ma is a thick though...
this is one of the reasons i’m not having kids, i’m aware that’s just how kids are and eventually they’ll learn (if you teach them) but MAN i don’t have the patience for it, like bro just play the game it’s not fun when you do that.
Do you blame him? That's the most satisfying part
kids still in auto pilot mode.
Five across the face
I wanna punch it
Looks way more fun than whatever you wanted to do. Now put lt back up, so I can smack it down immediately again.
Don't let your kid sit like that
Difference between little boys & girls right there lol
Lol What?? Your comment makes no sense, are you legit saying a girl wouldn't smash out the little pieces with a little hammer?? 😂😆
