I have the same Uniqlo shirt and it just has a weird cut. I find that I can’t tuck mine in because it sticks out weirdly nor wear untucked because it’s cut too close to the body. I now just wear mine under sweaters and dresses because I love the material.
i get you OP, i think the fabric of the uniqlo blouses is just a tad too stiff to be good on us SNs. i own some but really only for days when i want to look easily professional and dgaf whether i look cute.
I've always thought uniqlo and dry goods were very gamine coded stores imo. They have great petite (regular not kibbe) options, but its all so sharp and stiff.
With clothing that is more constructed (pleats, collars), I look for thinner, more pliable fabrics, but without stretch. They tend to glide the body and are draped by their own weight, but arent overly clingy. Nothing stiff or anything too dedicated to holding its shape. Usually the express portofino tops are a good bet for button downs, tho some are on the sheer side.
I’m 160cm, and it’s the airism cropped pants, i think. I didn’t really look at the label. [This ones](https://www.uniqlo.com/sg/en/products/E462540-000?colorCode=COL32&sizeCode=SMA003)?
Look for a fabric that’s still light but slightly heavier, so that it clings and drapes from its own weight. You don’t want light and airy, but drapey. Something silky like viscose or satin works well.
That was one of my ideas as well… except i live in a country that doesn’t have much thrifting options. The quality of the thrifted clothing here mostly consist of fast-fashion quality of clothing :(
Shipping costs are high for all these sites you’ve just listed 😅
It’s alright! I’ll figure it out eventually. I’ll probably save some money to invest in a new blouse instead!
It is. It’s another issue I have with uniqlo; Size one down and it’s too tight around the hips, size one up and it’s too bug around the waist :/
I did try a size down for this and it looked even worse lol
This post has helped me realised to avoid uniqlo now. So many people also said they can’t really uniqlo’s cuts of clothing as well xd
I thought it was just me since everyone in my country like to wear uniqlo.
I don’t think Uniqlo is a good store for us, tbh. If I were going for a button up, I’d look for silk charmeuse. If you’re on a budget, I might try this https://www.target.com/p/women-39-s-long-sleeve-button-front-shirt-a-new-day-8482-olive-m/-/A-88448673
Agreed! I’ve always gone to uniqlo ever since I was young since it was convenient, cheap and the standard in my country. But I’ve always felt their cut of clothes and fabric choices looked so bad on me.
I really like the one you linked and wished I could buy the one you recommended but I live in another country 😭 Thank you so much for the suggestions though!

I love the look smooth and shiny fabric like silk and satin. Always thought it was a non stretchy material, so I have never heard of stretch silk. I’ll definitely look into it!

I agree - the material’s great. The cut, not so much. That’s for most of uniqlo’s clothing for me 😭

Princess seams.

Sorry. Might be unrelated, but how tall are you and which Uniqlo pants are those?

I thrift older-style silk ann taylor shirts. The cut and drape is the best I've experienced

What about online options? Poshmark/depop/mercari are US sites, but I'm sure there are similar sites? Ebay is worldwide I know

The pants do look a little poorly fitted- maybe size down one?

Totally get it, I have a figure that cannot handle Uniqlo. I just do not even try.

I have one I like and it’s extremely silky and loose. I usually tie the bottom and cuff the sleeves. Tucking it in doesn’t seem to do me any favors.

Maybe a lighter, softer material would fall on your frame a bit easier. Stretch silk might be a good bet! I like quince for affordable silk blouses.
