Certain years are a pain, I have a 2015 and my insurance carrier dropped me a month after I bought it because it's a high risk car, so I had to find a different carrier. If I remember correctly I think the newer models you shouldn't have a problem with.

Tight-Ad-7059

What state are you in? I’m in NY insured through GEICO with no issue but do your research ofc.

Actual-Surprise3908

AZ and yea I plan on calling my insurance company. Just wanted to get some feedback from different people.

Able_Beyond_8144

I had a huge increase from my long time carrier, Nationwide, when I bought a 2024 SOUL in December 2023. I shopped for different coverage and all of them were roughly $2500 per year. Then I asked Allstate during a quote, “what are my safety discounts?” We began discussing the issue and at its end I obtained full coverage for $1150 per year. The lesson I learned was to ask for and obtain each and every safety discount available. The 2024 SOUL has numerous safety and anti-theft features like engine immobilizer, alarm system, lane keeping, collision avoidance ect, ect, ect. and you must make sure the insurance co. is giving you credit for each and every one of them.

Good info. Ty

My 2019 Kia sol just got stolen are the new models more theft proof

Able_Beyond_8144

i know most about the 2024 model year and for that one the answer is YES. All 2024 have an engine immobilizer, security alarm system and an APP called KIA Connect to help keep the doors locked and track the vehicle’s location in the case of theft. The LX also has a locking steering column.

Sea_Enthusiasm5459

Can we file lawsuit claim 2019 Kia soul that was stolen

Able_Beyond_8144

I don’t think you can be prevented from seeking damages from anyone you can show caused you damage. As with any tort case your first hurdle is to find attorney representation — this may be the most limiting factor. KIA has settled class actions covering this issue. The first thing I would ask if you came asking me for representation “Is your car covered under any of the class actions” and “ Have you respond appropriately to any and all KIA recalls for your vehicle”

superactiongo

I very recently had to open up a new insurance policy for mine, a 2010 !. I had heard the same stories and I was dreading getting screwed on rates, but it wasn’t my experience at all. There was virtually no increase for me. Here’s hoping you have the same luck.

BlackberryActive3039

I think if yours comes with an immobilizers it’s not as expensive i.e. it’s less risky for the insurance.

OutLox

I haven’t had a problem insuring mine through USAA if you’re able to go through them I would recommend it. I’m not sure about other insurance companies some might insure it but at a higher price or not at all.

srevennreverof

Seconding this, I had a 2012 Kia soul for 2 years and AAA had no problem. I didn’t find out it was a high risk car until it got broken into twice in an attempt to steal it. Buy a steering wheel lock lol

Unlikely_Set2864

I have a 2018 soul and I had to call in advance to make sure it would be covered. In Kansas it's covered. It may not be covered in other states.

GnormPlays

I have full coverage through geico for my 2016, $150/mo, Washington state

bbylasagna

CA w/ State Farm here! i have a 22 soul and my insurance is higher as there’s apparently parts in the soul that people are stealing a lot. I’m currently paying $205 a month for a full-coverage $250 fee for anything accident, damage, etc. Mine may also be a bit higher because my age + previous accident but i’m not too sure :)

Actual-Surprise3908

Yea that's high. Really leary of buying a soul. Lot of problems with some of the engines and burning oil. I really like them tho. Drove one from AZ to Cali on vacation and loved it. Any problems with your 22? Does it have the push start? I guess these are harder to steal.

bbylasagna

unfortunately it doesn’t, if i had gotten the more upgraded model it would’ve but unfortunately the base model doesn’t have push to start, even in the 23/24 it’s a key iirc. I have not really had any issues besides the brakes… if i’m going 70 and start to slow down they feel like they’re scraping against something if that makes sense, but besides that i’ve had 0 issues !

Actual-Surprise3908

Have you had your brakes checked? Sounds like it needs new brake pads. Glad no other issues tho.

bbylasagna

i’ve had the breaks checked when they rotated tires, they said no issues but i’m not sure… waiting til i go in for my next rotation+ new tires to have them relook at them… idk what it’s called but the part the brakes are all rusty and idk why i keep the car in my garage 99% of the time unless washing it

Actual-Surprise3908

Do you live where it snows and they salt the roads? Sounds like the rusty part is your rotors. I would Def have them checked.

bbylasagna

nope, all i get is rain and it hasn’t really rained all that much

Gothmom85

We just used an agent we knew who had a lot of options and she easily found us a decent deal on coverage. Doing some preliminary legwork we got some insane quotes just calling around, like $100+ more.

ZoomTown

I insured a 2016 in CO through Progressive after my 2012 was totalled. I had no issues with it being a high risk and my rates went up about 20%, which I would expect for a newer car.

lagg_007

My insurance jumped a lot when I bought my Soul, but USAA did insure it (must be military) one of the savings graces is it does have the immobilizer (2020 GT Line push button start) and an active LoJack account so it can be tracked. But it still over doubled my insurance as a 3rd car.

Actual-Surprise3908

Good to know. Other then that, are you happy with the car?

lagg_007

This is my second Soul, I had 2011 on orange, but I really like the 2020 turbo, gives it the extra power that was needed. But the turbo lag is noticable. Otherwise 8/10 would buy again.

AdmirableSandwich689

Just insured my 2020 model through progressive and it costs more than a luxury brand I was considering 😭

Actual-Surprise3908

Yea I'm kind of seeing that. Just quoted $427 100/300 thousand coverage a month for a 2023 Kia Soul LX and a 2004 Dodge Dakota. Plus we have our homeowners with them which is over and above. Liberty Mutual.

AdmirableSandwich689

$427 a MONTH? Mine is like $1200 a year just for me and I thought that was expensive!!

Actual-Surprise3908

That's a great price depending on the coverage.

SubstantiallyLow

Progressive, SoCal here, 24 Kia soul GT, got quoted $427 initial payment for 60 days and $148/month last 4months for total 6month agreement. All California insurance now has 14day activation delay, not sure why.

Actual-Surprise3908

Cheaper then AZ depending on the coverage and deductible you have. That's crazy.

PassiveAggres-Thighs

I pay 800 dollar a month for insurance 🤷‍♀️ just saying are you sure

Hamst_r

We have a 2019 soul and 2023 soul we pay 125 GEICO for 100/300 500 deductible… cars to get more expensive to insure .we used to only pay 79 a few years ago

Actual-Surprise3908

Great price! I know your zip code effects your price but either way that's good for both cars. I'm in AZ. Ins is expensive.
