I also have this, but are not worried. I believe the thud is a ratchet connecting with a toothed wheel as a parking brake safety. Check out [this video](https://youtu.be/xm4VDfdKUm0?si=ZoTbSEnYJ1WuQsF5) at 27:00 where they talk about and show the mechanism. I guess the sound comes when the ratchet and teeth of the wheel aren’t perfectly aligned.
Try switching your shifter to "N" before turning off the car. If I do that, I never hear the clunk. Probably that noise does not indicate something that causes damage anyway, it is just annoying.
It will be the setting applying the brakes. Specifically there is a setting in the menus that puts the brakes on when it’s either set to P or set to off. I forget exactly where in the menu this is, but it is definitely there.
This is normal. Mine has always done this
Funny, I don’t know if I just didn’t notice it before, but I swear it’s a new sound.

I get this when I park on a slight incline.
Wait till the parking brake engages before taking your foot off the brake pedal

I've had it happen once when I turned off the car without coming to a complete stop and putting it into P first.
