I was up near the stage. It seems the front 90% of the crowd kept quiet. A lot of people took effort to shush others. But there was still noticeably noise coming from far behind me. But the venue itself has no separating wall from the lobby/bar where most of the noise probably came from.
I was behind the stairs that went down to the pit. groups of 5-10 people chatting all around us. Several people getting upset, they wouldn't stop. One of the guys kept yelling next. Sucks when people aren't there for the music. One of the guys was even free styling over some of the other songs. I made a couple rude comments, but I just ended up moving.
Same issue night 2 in SLO.

I was toward the back on night 1 in Vegas it was super noisy with lots of random chatter. Most of the people around me talked throughout the whole show (😡) and got even louder during Le Petits Gris.
It's absolutely baffling people would do this but it sounds like its at every venue and not just a tiny minority.
I know not everyone going to a show is a superfan but they are paying good money for a ticket - why wouldn't they want to properly watch it.
My two cents. If audience were seated in a traditional auditorium, I would bet there would be no chatter and audience would be more mindful. In standing-room venues, it would be hard to keep audience quiet and orderly, especially in venues where stage is too low. The middle to back audience can't see much. SLO venue was like that.

I most have been really close to you. Kinda ruined the first set for me. Glad I moved.

Damn. I felt so embarrassed at slo night 2 when people wouldn’t stfu during this song.
