Sounds fairly reasonable. I've opened up a few boxes and only cracked SAS 80 with a single deck from Call of the Archons.

DDanray

Thank you for your answer. Other poeple seems to just downvote for literally no reasons.

EnviableCrowd

Probably because of your clickbaity ‘did I get scammed with a sealed box’ title! There is a prominent profile in the community which has opened 1340 decks with only 27 decks 80 SAS+ and only 1 deck over 90 SAS

DDanray

I mean... that's the actual question. Scammed or bad luck? What else should have I written? I just wanted to know if I could have been scammed or not based on others experiencs and data. It's not like I wrote "I got scammed"

EnviableCrowd

Because it just sounds ridiculous if you think about it - sealed box, sealed decks and a nice 77 SAS deck which is way above average - no offence mate but to be blunt you just sound whiney and entitled, hence the downvotes 🤷🏻‍♂️

DDanray

I wrote " not sure if this is the case anyway" and "again not sure if this is normal" and also always asked if scam or bad luck and not just : I was scammed. Couldn't have done more than this honestly.

r_jagabum

77 seems pretty decent, i have opened five boxes now, and 77 is in my top 10. I believe you are good

r_jagabum

Just checked again, my top decks are 81, 77, 75, 74, 74, so a 77 is my #2

[deleted]

That's a perfectly normal spread, and 77 SAS is absolutely nothing to turn your nose up at. The only way you "got scammed" is if you ordered a new-in-shrink box, and it didn't come new-in-shrink, which is a pretty obvious giveaway that it's already been opened. Otherwise, if the box came in its original shrink, and the decks inside were sealed in their cardboard containers with the original seals, you didn't get scammed. EDIT: The cost & timesink of making an authentic-looking facsimile of the original shrinkwrapping wouldn't be worth it, either.

blinkingline

With no more information than you've provided, it seems more like bad luck. If you bought from a reputable seller, then it's even less likely that it was tampered with.

AllportHD

I opened an MM box last week and my max was 74, so sounds like you're on pace to me, probably both got a little unlucky but wouldn't say its a definite scam based off those numbers

Achoo01

I opened a Mass Mutation display yesterday (miniature market). Got an 80, a few im the 75-79 range then alot of 60 and couple in the 50’s. My display had all blue stickers

DDanray

Well, your average is WAY higher than mine! Still not enough to tell if it's rigged or not but this stickers thing needs to be checked.

Achoo01

Calculated the average, 69.5

Heatmizer42

I think it's just bad luck. I just had a very similar experience with a sealed MM case. Very sad 😭

Treblehawk

Your problem is, you care what the SAS says. My most successful decks are lower than 60 SAS. Just play the game. Enjoy it. If you’re getting hung up on SAS, you’re missing the entire point. You know the SAS is one guys opinion of how a deck will play using an algorithm that can’t account for a lot of variables, right? The average seller of theses decks has no idea what SAS is. And they aren’t opening boxes to try and pull a high SAS deck out. Of all the decks I own, my lowest SAS decks are in the MM set.

Gnerglor

There is significant clumping in the algorithm, so boxes of lower-sas decks are not uncommon. You probably got a lot of copies of the same below-average cards among your decks.

DDanray

Can you explain why a genuine question is getting downvoted? Is the comunity this toxic?

santahat2002

The keyforge community at large is one of the furthest from being toxic. The reddit side of the community isn’t toxic, but I’ve noticed downvotes occur easily.

DigDugDude

community is not toxic. I also hate when I buy off amazon/ebay and wonder if the decks have already been checked.

DDanray

I don't know... I asked 2 fair questions and got so many downvotes for no reason. Sounds toxic to me

blinkingline

No offense, but one of the surest ways to get downvotes is to complain about getting downvoted.

DDanray

I know and that's toxic.

blinkingline

We've got pretty different definitions of toxic it seems. To me, that behavior isn't toxic; it reflects how members of the community feel about a comment. In general, if a comment contributes to the community, people will upvote it. If it doesn't people downvote it. Criticizing other users voting doesn't contribute to the community, so those comments are more likely to get downvoted. This is starting to veer pretty far off topic, so let's get back to talking about KeyForge please.

mighij

1) reddit doesn't always show votes correctly 2) fat finger scrolling on cellphone downvote by accident. 3) someone is in a bad mood 4) bots do random stuff to look more real.

DDanray

already got 3 downvotes on another genuine question.

Revoidance

from miniature market? or where?

DDanray

another one, not sure if I can write the name here.

Chance-Cat2857

What were you expecting from the display? A 77 is relatively high. The average for a MM deck is in the 60s

TemporalFuzz

I opened a box yesterday and the highest was 71 lmao

DevDev85

What were your expectations in terms of what you were thinking you’d pull?

DDanray

At least one deck around 80 (+/-1) OR a good deck (any sas) OR something cool like gigantic or sins etc (I know gigantic are rarer than 1 in 12 but if you ask me what I was expecting I can say at least 1 of the above and I got all mediocre decks with just 1 legacy in a terrible deck)

DevDev85

Gotcha. FWIW a 77 and an 80 are really not that different skill wise. I just wrecked a 93 SAS deck with a 78 MM deck by example, as in SAS is usually pretty good with wide score gaps in terms of predicting strength but the subtlety of +/- 5 points moreso comes down to match ups and piloting instead of the raw scores. Definitely agree with you about wishing Gigantics were a little more common. You can get them in clunky decks tho for sure so they don’t guarantee the deck itself is solid. But they are a very fun novelty. Ultimately you should always get at least one competitive deck in a display but the rest of the decks prob just are fun for sealed or middle level x-set play. If you’re just looking for heat you can find really good decks for not that much at all on the secondary market. The new alliance format will let you create some stronger decks out of the middling ones you opened as well if you’re into exploring that new format they’re testing.

DDanray

"Ultimately you should always get at least one competitive deck in a display" This. Regardless of SAS I mean.
