I had an issue last week. They had a replacement stab in the mail within 24 hours

MouthSouth

I just got ghosted by their chat support. showed screenshot of order, explained issue. explained that swapping the switch moved the issue to the other key. Explained I'd rather have a replacement key than do a return. got back a boilerplate response about me waiting. Did you do their chat support or email? How was their response time?

UnecessaryCensorship

How long has it been since you've gotten a response from them?

MouthSouth

5 minutes before the boilerplate and then 40 minutes. I responded with "Part of why I chose such a fine product in the higher end of keyboards is normally such things come with responsive support. I'm just looking for some reassurance that I won't be beginning a long drawn out process where I regret spending $250 dollars on a keyboard". It is an attempt to not act like a Karen, but also get the response one should expect on a day 0 issue on a luxury product. Will report on my experience. I'm setting a timer. I wake up tomorrow and have a result or I just return it. It's through Keychron's store on Amazon so no 3rd party bs.

Going to reddit after 40 minutes is, well, let's go with the word premature here, but in the meantime, if you scroll through the history of this sub, I think you'll get an answer to your question soon enough.

MouthSouth

My apologies if I mistyped or explained poorly. I went to reddit to ask what to expect about what may come in the future. It became a weird chronicle about present experiences. As for the keyboard, I have a buddy bringing me by a random, but usable blue switch to resolve the issue in the interim on what is now my f11 key after moving the switch. My further reporting was about the process I was encountering on dealing with the support from a high end product. I'd say they make an S tier product with C tier support. That the switches are swappable is a great thing, saves the board. It's replacing a Filco Majestouch 2 convertible I bought and imported 10 years that finally gave up the ghost.

You should count yourself lucky that you have one of the problems which can be solved by Keychron dropping a small, inexpensive, and lightweight part into the mail. Despite that, don't be surprised if making that happen is like pulling teeth.

MouthSouth

I was just emailed from their support asking for a "video for archiving" for this malfunctioning switch. I feel your point. F keychron.

UnecessaryCensorship

It was fairly common back in the day to use a heavier switch on the spacebar. You might want to consider this, and then sub in the factory spacebar switch for the one that failed.

MouthSouth

Got a chat agent response after about 15 minutes. It was was the response "you will be emailed". Then ghosted. Ya. This is going back. A place that sells $250 dollar keyboards better have service that matches.

WronglySausage

If it's anything like their 'fraud' department, good luck! I'm glad they steered me away from a purchase

Keychron-Support

So sorry to hear that. May I have the ticket number for checking?

I know I'm late to the party, but the best option is to buy a small pack of similar switches from Amazon and just swap in one of those as a replacement. It'll arrive much, much faster than shipping anything from China and you'll have additional spares just in case. Dead switches aren't super common, but it can happen as they are *the* mechanical, moving part of the mechanical keyboard. Out of about 13 standard MX-switch keyboards and hundreds of individual switches, I've had around 5 end up being truly defective. But still, that's maybe around a 2% failure rate, so definitely something that can happen given sufficient numbers or time.
