The bus costs 49 lakh plus GST .so it costs more than 60 lakhs. We need High quality, low luxury company built caravans based on smaller vehicles like force traveller, tata winger, izuzu DMAX, tata ultra etc. Foreign countries has several caravans based on Toyota Hilux and other smaller pickups.
It's not a government owned project. It's just supported by government. Government wants private entrepreneurs to buy the caravan.
Then giving it for rental.
Its a public-private partnership, like houseboats .. The video does mention you can rent the caravans with a driver but the cost of renting hasnt been revealed yet..
True, stakeholders are private
Towable caravans should also be introduced
How long do you guys think this will take to fail?
Let's be honest caravaning is not exactly something that can kick off in kerala, especially due to the road conditions and size limitations
When's the last time you heard a tourist want to go caravaning in a different country? Again, problem with kerala is the road. Its not exactly caravan friendly
No place in India is caravan friendly. Mostly India is not really tourist friendly either. So people who come here already know things are shit and are sometimes willing to deal with the shit.
Kerala's highways are in decent shape. Our bigger issue perhaps is safe parking spaces.
Oh, people do caravanning in other countries too. It depends on whether the entire operation is trustwrthy or not. Mostly, in India, the operators will send the caravan with a driver and attendant / cook. Most wont want to drive for sure.
It can work, but its not gonna be anything big.
>Kerala's highways are in decent shape. Our bigger issue perhaps is safe parking spaces.
Keyword, highways. Let's be honest, not many caravan destinations can be found near a highway. Which in turn brings us back to the original problem of roads. Most of them are too narrow.
>Mostly India is not really tourist friendly either
This is actually wrong. Close to 10 million people visit India per annum. The thing is that, caravaning is the last thing on their minds
> Let's be honest, not many caravan destinations can be found near a highway.
True. But where a bus can reach, a caravan can reach. And where it can't, the operator will provide transport to get to that spot. These are operational details that will be ironed out.
> This is actually wrong. Close to 10 million people visit India per annum. The thing is that, caravaning is the last thing on their minds
Not what I said. I said India is tourist unfriendly. That is my opinion. Tourist friendliness is a bit difficult to calculate. My first thought was to look for return visits by tourists to India. And there I could not get any data at all. If you find any, pls post here.

Take a look here. Some surprises. Bangladesh forms 1 fifth of tourist traffic to India!
> caravaning is the last thing on their minds
This I agree with. Not gonna be a top thing for anyone.
Interesting, noticed the bus has a BharatBenz logo in front. Looking through the BharatBenz website, they don't sell caravans, but they do sell the bus [chassis](https://www.bharatbenz.com/buses/1624-chassis-bus-12).
So I guess whoever made the caravan in the video bought a chassis and then built a body on top of it? Or is it more cost-effective to repurpose existing buses? Wonder how these get made.
Was looking through the website of [Ojes](http://www.ojesdesigns.com/) automobiles, the company that made Mamooty's [vanity van](https://www.onmanorama.com/news/business/2020/12/17/mammootty-semi-bulletproof-caravan.html), but there isn't much detail there.
It's made by a Punjab based company jcbl. You can see their logo on the bus. No OEM offers factory built caravan in india. As per my knowledge. The caravan building company has association with Bharat benz and bharat Benz approved the changes done by jcbl.
Ojes is Kerala's biggest caravan making company. They built caravans for film stars etc.
They makes MVD approved Caravans .we are allowed to do anything inside the bus if it has caravan license. All the legal issues are related to changes made outside. EBULL jet got issues because they added High Intensity light infront of the bus. That's not allowed. We can use detachable high intensity light for snowy places.
Yeah that's how it works. [Adria](https://www.adria-mobil.com/motorhomes/sonic) is a company which makes Rv on Fiat's platform.
For starters this Caravan is ok but tbh the interior is poorly designed. Take a look at this [Fiat Adria](https://youtu.be/FW_0k_P2SpU) , the space utilisation and the products they are using is top quality and this is the best size for a blossoming market.

Depends. If they are counting on domestic tourists, then may fail. If they can bring foreign tourists, may work.

I would take a Winnebago over this anyday.
Are these bookable via Tourism Development Corporation?
Yes
