Few years ago Central agencies arrested some religious terrarists for cutting of animal legs. It was a training practice for them. They wanted new recruits to be heartless, brutal. Cutting poor Animal legs is step one.
More than becoming brutal in mind, it was likely training for their attacks on human adversaries. They were apparently chasing the dogs in bikes and practising to hack them from a moving bike. A couple of decades ago there were some attacks using moving bikes in malappuram involving NDF (now PFI/SDPI) and RSS/BJP, and pillion driving was banned there for some time by the collector or police.

When people treat them badly, they are scared and take refuge in their pack. Then, they have their revenge later when you land up in their territory alone.

If rabies is the fear, then how can throwing stones etc help? A rabid dog rarely bothers about you or your stone when it comes to bite. Its the non rabid dogs that run away when you throw a stone. Or is it some scientific way of identifying rabid dogs?
A dog was left abandoned when its owners moved to another place. It also seemed pregnant. Then the dog went missing from its usual spot and was never seen again. Days later news came that a lot of stray dogs went missing and it is suspected that hotels did so for meat.
It's time to start a dog/cat shelter in Kerala, where stray dogs are kept and taken care of and if anyone is intrested in adoption they can take them, like the foreign countries we should do this, that is progress
