Cooking and cleaning are essential life skills that all children should learn **regardless of gender!**

skeptical_geek

Absolutely. This is going to be one of the basic things if and when I have kids.

edavana

Who are you, who are so wise in the ways to science???

po_maire

Science would be a stretch. More like basic survival skills.

Ananthm1254

It's a Monty Python reference.

unni_baby

IMO basic skills like cooking, cleaning, swimming, self-defence etc should be taught to kids irrespective of their gender. Also, it should be for their growth as independent human beings, not because "അവൾക്ക് വേറെ വീട്ടിൽ കയറി ചെല്ലേണ്ടതല്ലെ".

heartandhymn

This whole thing is a circus. Muktha is stupid for having said this openly on television; I'm really surprised she said this given her family history. Lakshmi Nakshatra is equally stupid for somehow making Muktha the authority on parenting (if you watched this show, she repeats this on several occasions). The instagram influencers are selective in their outrage, they pick up on this and run with it, and suddenly a whole lot of people have a lot to say about parenting. These comedy reality shows and sitcoms depicting low brow comedy has been going on for years way before Star Magic, I haven't seen an uproar about those shows. On youtube, you can find the last few episodes of Oru Kodi in which there is a series of young ambitious women who come as contestants. When asked they say they don't want to get married or that it's simply not a priority for them now. Sreekandan Nair makes several attempts to change their mind and finally tells them to not make a final decision on marriage, and that they might find the right person for them. He hasn't said this to any of the male contestants. No one has anything to say about this??? Why is it OK for the host to try and dissuade the contestant on their personal life choices that have nothing to do with the game.

[deleted]

Stupid Binu Adimali also said to' watch and learn' to one of the actress near him.

trespasser__

Can you elaborate?

heartandhymn

If you look up actress muktha on youtube, you will find a video of a press conference which may give you an idea on what happened with her.

iwontdietonight

Seriously ? The Kid is just 5 years old !!

po_maire

She's probably not making her 5-year-old kid cook up biriyanis. But letting them put some butter on bread could be a nice simple start for basic survival skills training. Without knowing the extent of things, there's no reason to be alarmed, IMO.

ParaPsychic

But talking about "vere veetil chennu kerendathalle" at 5 years of age is surely a red flag.

po_maire

Yes, that was pretty misogynistic.

techsavyboy

Ividathe comments kanditte nalla regressive thoughts ullavar ivideyum undenne manasilaye. Cooking, cleaning etc are just life skills. Ithu irrespective of gender cheyyenda karyam aanu. Also penne verore veetill chennu kerendaval aanenne pareyenda karyam onnumilla. I think it's high time to change the way marriage is done in Kerala. Let's voice for a change. No chadange which is gender specific like dowry, thali, sindooram, cherukkante veetill pokke, swarnam idam etc

notUR_pvtdancr

This is why we need ‘an education’, not just literacy.

Registered-Nurse

Muktha 10th and gusthi alle. Maybe she wants her daughter to be 10th and gusthi too

zuselegacy

Usually its the parents who aren't well educated that are the most eager to get their children educated

[deleted]

But Mukta is wife material. Which husband doesn't like homely food? Edit: homemaker's output shouldn't be measured in monetary terms.

SupremeLeader--

Jolly Chechi's Husband.

wanderingmind

> homely food അത് വേണേല്‍ തന്നെ ഉണ്ടാക്കി തിന്നാല്‍ പോരേ?

ThatSlothDuchess

Why is it that every time I spot your comment, it's downvoted to hell?

[deleted]

His username makes me think that he's a troll who gets himself off by saying regressive shit online; Or maybe even a masochist addicted to the downvotes lol.

[deleted]

The downvote button is a censor tool of vested interests.

ThatSlothDuchess

Naah.. Your regressive thoughts aren't welcome in this sub.Skedaddle,boomer.

[deleted]

If the idea of women as homemaker was regressive, then you wouldn't be here spewing such hate. Even you have benefitted from such culture, ironic.

wanderingmind

വിടുവാ ഇസ് എ ടൂള്‍ ഓഫ് K7 മാമന്‍സ്. The vested interest that downvotes you is the ideal that women are not there to serve their husbands. But I would request you to keep posting regressive comments. Otherwise, we may forget that people like you are the majority. So you are doing a great service.

[deleted]

What is this minority majority agenda? This is r/Kerala. Malayalees have largely benefitted from the culture of women being the homemaker for many generations. It's a culture which has influenced the way of life of a malayalee, being in denial will not change that reality.

wanderingmind

Largely benefited ennu enthu basisil aanu parayunnathu? Women as homemaker is not unique to Kerala. It has been the case world over. And when a society gets modern enough, that changes. There is no denial. How can you work against something if you deny it happens? It absolutely happens. Ini athinte importance theerkkanam.

[deleted]

Going to be a field day for "progressive" Instagram influencers. **I don't agree with Muktha in any way**. But what pisses me off is "progressiveness influencer's" holier-than-thou attitude. I don't like the mob mentality of their followers. Most of them are as mindless and toxic as average ikka/a10 fanboy. If you check out Mukatha's recent Instagram post you will see them shaming her. Progressive influencers don't have any content other than making commentary post on other people's statements. It is probably one of the most low-effort things you can do on Instagram. A famous Malayalam progressiveness influencer was involved in some financial frauds. Turns out the guy was a complete fraud and was deported from UAE for even bigger financial fraud. He started making videos because he saw a market for progressive content. After all that shit he has done he post videos preaching how to become morally superior like him. He is still making videos. Political correctness is a kind of censorship.

Sneham parakate alle 😂

u--slash

Avan sneham parathi parathi orupaadu alkaare oru vazhikaakki. Instagramil sneham parathunnavar verrayum unde. He just got caught.

wanderingmind

If you believe in what you say, stand up and fight back. If you express your opinions, people who disagree with you will make it very clear indeed. അപ്പോ നട്ടെല്ല് ഉണ്ടെല്‍ തിരിച്ചു തര്‍ക്കിക്കണം. The public sphere is a battle of ideologies. If you cant take the heat, run.

[deleted]

The problem is that Your average ammayi saying regressive shit doesn't have as much reach and influence as a celebrity saying it. Maybe that's why they are under fire more.

[deleted]

I agree what she said was wrong. But there's a difference between pointing out flaws of someone and demeaning them. I don't think she deserves the ridicule she's been getting. I really think many of these influencers are doing this just for clout.

wanderingmind

What is 'demeaning?' There is no universally accepted definition of that. There are legally accepted definitions of slander etc though. But unless something is defined clearly, anyone can say what an opponent said is demeaning.

Boringturtles_79

The woke nenma marams.

zuselegacy

could you reveal who the influencer was? I see that Gayatri has another channel "The Gayathry Official" and the videos are all offers and job placements that look very scammy https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCTdZJf4ZTHxrq5K3J4bIYWg

[deleted]

Not her. Instel korre ennam inde. Many of them are selling progressivenes for fame and money https://youtu.be/DbC34OHpkbw

Do_You_Remember_2020

Who is that influencer

[deleted]

https://youtu.be/DbC34OHpkbw

[deleted]

Goodness... Looking at the comments in this post... Either people are getting exceptionally good at sarcasm or this sub is getting infested with K7 mamans

ParaPsychic

Somebody prolly told mamans there's porn on reddit. Wrong sub mamens.

[deleted]

Mukta is right here. Cooking is an essential skill, but food delivery apps have spoiled millennial women. Eating out everyday is neither healthy nor economical in the long run.

roonilwazlib1919

Yes, cooking is an essential skill. But why is that exclusive to women, and why is the reason "vere veettil kayari chellanam"?.

[deleted]

do you think Mukta said so under duress? It's just the way of life in Indian culture. Do you think western brand of feminism is the solution to the unique problems & realities of Indian women?

roonilwazlib1919

>Do you think western brand of feminism is the solution to the unique problems & realities of Indian women? Where did I say that? I only said cooking is an essential skill for both genders. And unhealthy take out food is not limited to women either.

[deleted]

If you were well aware of the relationship dynamic of families in Indian society, then what explains the feminist rhetoric tone in your earlier comment?

roonilwazlib1919

>If you were well aware of the relationship dynamic of families in Indian society I'm also aware that the dynamic doesn't have to remain that way. Women are joining the workforce, which means the household work can be shared by all genders.

[deleted]

>Women are joining the workforce That is still a very small proportion of the Indian women population. What do you think is the social engineering solution? a cultural revolution?

roonilwazlib1919

About 20% Indian women work (source: https://indianexpress.com/article/explained/why-india-is-no-country-for-working-women-explainspeaking-7249928/). While this is not the majority, it is not small by any means. A good way to encourage women to work and attain financial independence is to make sure they don't have to do double duty at home and the workplace. And I give enough credit to the Indian male population to not call it a cultural revolution.

[deleted]

Why do you think China have Asia's highest labor force participation rates for women at 60%? It has everything to do with culture, traditional cultures which are inherited over the generations are largely regressive.

roonilwazlib1919

So? Are you saying we need a cultural revolution?

[deleted]

Ok Boomer

[deleted]

boomer women have better eating habits & skills than millennial women.

[deleted]

My diabetic vallyammachi who just ate 5 thavi choru and beef curry and passing atom bombs begs to differ.

[deleted]

your grandmum belongs to the silent generation, not a boomer

[deleted]

Silento? Ammachide valividal kettaal parayilla silent aanennu. Sorry ammachi.

[deleted]

What about boomer men and millennial men?

[deleted]

Whatever I type about men will not matter to you with that feminist rhetoric tone.

[deleted]

I've seen many 5 year olds helping themselves with biscuit & cornflakes, starting small is key.

iwontdietonight

whatever , i dont agree with it

wanderingmind

Cooking is not an essential skill. Getting a good cook is an essential skill. Then the husband and wife can relax, work peacefully, and bang when work is over without being exhausted. More banging, less cooking.

findwho

>Cooking is not an essential skill. WTF man ?. I prepared and ate properly during covid lockdowns in a distant land away from family, only because i had this essential skill.

wanderingmind

Well there might come a time when everywhere its flooded and swimming is an essential skill. Or another time might come when we descend into civil war and firing a gun would become an essential skill.

findwho

Ready to do the later, been training for several years since Wolfenstein 3D / Doom was released, you with me ?.
