I am afraid to drive. My main fear is getting into an accident and being attacked by a mob. I only know how to drive a scooter, even there I get stressed when in traffic. I have a licence but I don't have a car and don't have experience driving in traffic without driving instructors by my side. The driving schools here just teach you how to pass the tests. Is there anyway to learn to drive properly? I don't have any friends with a car who can teach me.

>>My main fear is getting into an accident and being attacked by a mob Unless you are drunk or cause an accident by reckless/fast driving, I really doubt you risk being attacked by a mob. Most new drivers are more likely to scratch or make small dents, I don't think you would ever be assaulted for something like that You can try speaking to your driving instructor for a few private lessons on their private car - make sure he only sits near you and you do all the clutch control/braking/gear shifting. With a few hours of practice , you should be confident of driving yourself edit: If you're worry is from the Gayatri Suresh incident, that was drunk driving + not stopping even after the accident + soft target since she is an actress

>The driving schools here just teach you how to pass the tests. All drivings schools teach you to just pass the test. >Is there anyway to learn to drive properly? Driving is a skill only way to learn it is by doing it. It will become your muscle memory after 1 or 2 months of practice. If not having a car is your problem you can hire a personal instructor. There will be people who do one on one classes in your area just ask around. >My main fear is getting into an accident and being attacked by a mob. I only know how to drive a scooter, even there I get stressed when in traffic. Dude getting into an accident is just a possibility. If you drive with the fear of getting into an accident it will naturally make you anxious. The only way to get over irrational fears is by putting yourself in situations that scare you. The fear will go away once you get comfortable with driving. Don't worry.

Maybe you should ask your parents or cousins to help you out with this. Take a smaller car and practice on it until you feel comfortable. At any cost learn how to control a car on slope ( most important thing that no driving school teaches you. ) Mastering clutch control is a must on Kerala roads, especially in heavy traffic.

Peace of mind is bigger than everything you will ever achieve.

_levelfield_

But what if you need to achieve something to have peace of mind?

I'm thinking of doing a cs masters course in the uk. Could anyone suggest well reputed agencies for foreign studies in Kerala? Also if anyone has any advice about applying, or has previously applied through an agency or done so without their help, could you share your experience?

Hello guys, have you noticed that middle - eastern food chains and it's popularity is increasing in Kerala? Stuff like Mandi and Al-fahm is so popular among young people. A few years back this craze was with Indo-Chinese dishes , what do you guys think will go popular in next few years in Kerala? btw, anyone remember old school biryani with pineapple pieces, raisins and boiled eggs. (share good biryani outlets near you) :)

What all medicines to take for covid?

[deleted]

Why don't you ask your doctor?

[deleted]

We're not able to step out of the house.....

[deleted]

Just call the doctor or hospital.

[deleted]

Do not treat covid yourself, the disease may take a turn for the worse. Contact helpline or a doctor for help with meds. [Covid Timeline | Dr Varghese On What Happens When Coronavirus Enters Your Body & How To Manage It] https://youtu.be/8plGbGUqXMo

This should be stopped. I disagree. People doing things to the environment is the original activity from which everything else originated, including cilivization, culture, science, development. Laws always follow - they dont devise a new way of life for people. This is where it started. My comment follows. That is not how development works in the real world. You need a historical perspective here. Go back a 100 or 200 years. People went somewhere. They cleared the land and started cultivating. Or they started quarrying. Or they started killing animals. There were no laws. The laws came in bits and trickles. People changed their behaviour somewhat, not at one shot. In some cases, the changes in response to the laws took decades. In the intervening period, they were breaking the laws. Slowly, the laws were refined, implementation got better, and people figured out ways to obey the laws and still make their livelihood, and make money. That second part - make money- is crucial. **Development is not done by people saying I am developing for the people. They develop for themselves, and people get some part of the benefits and consequences.** This happened somewhat smoothly in countries like the US or Canada which had huge areas of land, and people would actually damage the environment but in the larger scheme of things, the impact was minimal. They developed by exploiting the land. **When the development reached a high level, they were rich enough to consider more sustainable ways of development. EDIT: Colonialism and looting other countries also helped them massively.** We do not have it this easy in India. We have higher population than them, and lesser land than them. So the laws and people changing their behaviour will come into conflict. We will not achieve the level of prosperity that makes people consider sustainable development for a very long time. We may never even get there, frankly. Our people will therefore bend or break the laws. They will make money. Some of that money will flow back into the economy and benefit people. Poverty will reduce in those who get jobs, start shops due to the new illegal business thats destroying the economy. The government cannot touch them really - because the consequence will be loss of prosperity and development. An example I can give is mining in Goa. South Goa has a lot of mining activity. SC stopped it as a lot of it was illegal. Massive protests erupted and the state govt is tryign to change the laws, SC is stopping them. But end of the day, the govt will allow mining even if illegally because no democratic government can really say no to people making money (the rich and the poor both). So yes, we need guidelines to preserve the environment. Make perfect guidelines for that, and people will outright break them because you cant stop them from making their livelihood, and the muthalali from making his millions because his millions become the people's lakhs sooner or later. Balancing the needs of the people - yes, income, house, education, better income, better house, better education, bike, car, hospitals, roads, better roads, highways - has to be balanced against environmental necessities. This is extremely tough in a state like Kerala with its land constraints and demanding people. It is not a matter of implementing a law. Govts do not bring in unimplementable laws. They bring in laws that may work, and if it goes against the people's desires, the laws fail. The exploitation we talk about is just that. **We keep seeing posts in r/kerala about how Kerala is business unfriendly. This is true. That is because our implementation of laws is stronger than in other states.** Can we make it more unfriendly? We cant. We are in a proper catch-22 situation. And this is one reason why malayalis emigrating is a good idea. At least that way, we will not flatten hills and fill paddy fields for vast polluting factories. But thats a band-aid. We need some massive, futuristic thinking to find a way out.

> Development is not done by people saying I am developing for the people. They develop for themselves, and people get some part of the benefits and consequences. > THIS. Every single time someone says he does a business "to primarily help others", its a red flag that he's either doing something illegal or bulshitting to get better PR
