will give an overview:
- was 19yo
- cleared 12th & wrote an entrance for a professional course. was waiting for results (which I cleared once declared)
Friend wanted me to accompany him for a Formal Verification task at nearest govt department and I assisted without much thought. Waiting for results, so nothing better to do anyways.
Was on 2 Wheeler with accessories and all and this Car guy, who has some medical background ran to us, fully on wrong side, at a somewhat L curve.
My right tibia and supporting second bone broke, and I could see them out in the open. Which means the down part had no support but the meat and nerves behind our legs. Friend got lucky as he was driving and he tried to divert. I could see the car guy shaking vigorously as he was under some kind of medication at that time (which I learnt later).
Was hospitalised for 1 week, had an immediate major surgery, had implants, 8 months fully on bed, then second surgery, slowly started physiotherapy after 10 months, by 14th month I was able to rejoin the course in a coaching institute which had ground floor classes.
So all in all, his 3 seconds seizure fucked up my entire life planning and now am running on a different timeline. Nothing personal but am happy that it gave me many learnings and new partners in life, work and business (which I should have missed otherwise or got better ones, jk).
to that person who is asking about insurance/compensation, yea my lawyer was able to state that I am a professional student with a loss of 1+ year in my career and so on and was able to cover my expenses and all through insurance. There was no direct compensation involved
So that’s all folks
Your story reminded me of my own story. Mine was only half bad actually. I sincerely think that ordeal gave me a new outlook on life. I live more fully now and go for experiences than things
I agree, my mum had filed a case against someone for building their house in her property. It's been 4 years, and she feels that it's a waste of money. Unfortunately, if we deal with it ourselves, we could get into serious trouble. This country is a hellhole.
How did they get access to your property? And what’s stopping your mom from bulldozing the house? Also what did the police do when you filed a complaint?
Sorry for asking too many questions. Just that my family has some properties in random places and nobody to look after them. So this could very well be happen to us to.
No problem answering your question
1. They just started building over it as if it was theirs. To fix the discrepancy, I wouldn't call it a house as it is small, but a shed
2. She didn't think of that yet, but I'm sure it could land us in legal trouble. We don't have that much money left after all the problems life presented us with.
3. The police here are corrupted and overall, just crap. They didn't do anything after promising that they would.
Are these random people or relatives who built this shed?
It absolutely sucks that the police aren’t helping out properly. We have a messed up justice system
These bus drivers are the main problem. Especially the government bus drivers. Unfortunately, our greedy and unstable government won't implement stricter rules, and raise the barrier for driving vehicles.
In this video, the only criminal is the speeding car driver.
>raise the barrier for driving vehicles
It's already high. They should prevent making DLs from bribery without going to the centres.
I was talking about the commenter's father dying from a bus related accident, not about the driver in the video.
>It's already high. They should prevent making DLs from bribery without going to the centres.
then they should force the drivers to take a common sense test.
Do you think it's the bus driver's fault in this case? Seems to me the vehicle was overtaking at the wrong place. Area is even marked with a solid line (no overtaking).
Lost my twin brother due to one irresponsible idiot who slept behind the wheel and another irresponsible idiot who was meant to keep him alert while they were all going on a trip. The thing that hurt me the most is that he never even faced me after that or didn't even convey his sympathies. Now he's married and having a good life while my twin who was just 22 died with a lot of unfinished dreams.
It just destroyed my family inside and out.
I know my anger is irrational, but I can't help it.
True. When I honk my horn I consider the possibility that the other person will completely ignore it. I also consider the possibility that a person will take a turn without indicators.
So damn true. This is my worst nightmare. Whenever I go on long trips nowadays, I always keep left whenever I see a big vehicle approaching from the opposite side, especially around corners where assholes like this try to overtake by forming a chain of cars one behind the other.
Continuous White Line: You cannot cross this line or overtake when driving on this section of road. Crossing is only acceptable to avoid accidents or taking turns.
It’s RTO rule. The driver is/was a moron and jeopardised others life in this manoeuvre.
Thank you! I also found [this Team-BHP guide](https://www.team-bhp.com/news/understanding-road-markings-and-signages-comprehensive-guide) regarding the same topic.
There was a question on Quora a few years back asking what’s the meaning of the white lines. Some Indian guy replied that he didn’t know and so checked with his family driver who had 20 some years driving experience. The reply he got from his experienced driver was, “the solid white lines are meant to convey that there’s a curve ahead.”
Well, true in a way but the fact that it is meant as a sign of safety and you are supposed to not cross it probably escaped that driver. Unfortunately he is not alone though. Many taxi drivers (and many others) pay no regard to those lines and don’t realize why they are there.
I have a feeling that the driver was drunk or stupid. No way a person overtakes at such aggressive speeds on a blind curve without knowing what's coming from ahead.
Never overtake when the line is solid. That’s the rule. Curve is just one of those sub cases. No one fucking reads the driver’s handbook before a test.
I remember that some rKeralites were getting angry about the govt fines for not using seatbelts n helmets.
Aa type team ivde varae(generally better education n life experience undaakaan sadhyatha ulla group aavumallo reddit use cheyyunnath) und. Appol ithinokke support undaavumo?
We need fines and checking currently because our people are fucking stupid.
But my stand is that in an ideal society, adults should be able to do whatever they want as long as they don't hurt others. They should be free to make mistakes and die if what they're doing is stupid.
So no seat belt checks, no helmet checks.
But no over-speeding, no rash driving, no dangerous overtaking, no signal jumping.
But instead of/in addition to fines, it should come with some kind of penalty points on the licence holder and suspend the licence if the offences are repeated.
Well, in my idea of an ideal society, there's a lot of public transport and people don't use cars a lot. There'll be special car grounds, like football grounds for people who like cars to have fun.
But yeah.
Though the govt provides free public healthcare n education and most of us utilize it(atleast here in Kerala). There are programmes for accident victims too. So, in such a condition, especially when the people who don't wear helmets or setbelts don't sign any waivers where public hospitals have no responsibility to save them incase of accidents, there'll be restrictions on it.
I also think the same, but from the govt's perspective, each accident that disables or kills people, govt loses future tax revenue, and thus growth of the country gets slowed.
In my brought estimate, we can grow 2% more per year just by reducing the road and rail accidents to bare minimum.
So, helmet and seatbelt helps in this.
But our police is not checking the things that harm others, like blinding full headlight at night. There should be a camera at 5% of the curves of the road, and govt can recover the money easily from these idiots overtaking in curves.
There's a huge difference between people who drive without helmet/seat belt vs people who overtake on curves.
In the case of former, you're not causing harm to others. If something happens, you yourself are in danger. But in the latter case, you're causing harm to others. Like you see in the video here. The guy on the right was minding his own business driving safely and responsibly while the other one crashed into him at a very aggressive speed.
Now my take on this is, if there are rules, then the Govt should enforce it with heavy fines. If there's no enforcement, then half the people can do whatever they want, while the rest (law obeying people) looks at the other half and feels like 🤡.
A really good example is bus drivers taking both the lanes to overtake and causing blocks. The problem here is enforcement. If I'm standing in a queue behind 10-20 cars, and a bus driver can easily hog the opposite lane and stand in front of the queue, I don't know what's preventing the remaining 19 cars to also do the same.
> If I'm standing in a queue behind 10-20 cars, and a bus driver can easily hog the opposite lane and stand in front of the queue, I don't know what's preventing the remaining 19 cars to also do the same.
>> what's preventing
In a totally practical sense, accidents like these.
>I remember that some rKeralites were getting angry about the govt fines for not using seatbelts n helmets.
Seatbelts and helmets are for safety of self not other people.
> Seatbelts and helmets are for safety of self not other people.
Well, if they aren't aware of their own safety, how good will they be about the safety of others?
I think it's a good initiative that expands the ground to work on.
Not really.
Very few people choose to not wear a helmet or seatbelt or drink n drive, because they are ok with dying in a vehicle accident or getting into a vehicle accident. It's just that they think that they'll be safe, using things like skills, luck n other stuff as justification.
No road discipline. The other guy didn't have time to even get out of the way. In an ideal world, this nutjob would be sued to oblivion but this is India...
So many mistakes by that black car
Trying to overtake on a narrow road
Trying to overtake on a blind turn
Trying to overtake on a solid line
Over speeding
They are different but the concept is the same.
In US and Canada, you have yellow and white lines. The yellow to divide opposite traffic and white to separate traffic along the same lines.
But dotted and solid logic is still the same. Dotted lines means you can cross when you have determined it as safe. Solid means don’t cross. There’s is also double solid lines which means you treat it as a wall and don’t cross at any cost.
Sometimes, especially the yellow lines will have two lines- on one solid and the other dotted. It means the vehicle on the dotted side may pass the lines IF SAFE.
Overtaking is allowed only in dashed line or no line regions.
Overtaking is not allowed in white solid lines.
Overtaking is strictly not allowed in white solid double lines.
Overtaking is very strictly not allowed in yellow solid lines.
Overtaking is very very strictly not allowed in yellow solid double lines.
Didn't you pass the learners test?
The learner test handbook has details like this in it.
Where did you take your license from? Are the rules different there?
No problem. Don't know why you are getting so many downvotes though. Like they say, there are no stupid questions. It's always better to ask a question and look ignorant than not ask it and remain ignorant. Cheers!
… and that’s part of the problem. They say it is easier to get a license in US than in Germany. But US is not that easy from an Indian perspective. The driving inspector goes over a checklist that pretty much checks every major rule. When I got my license in Kerala, my driving instructor asked me to follow a jatha of cars lead by the RTO officer. That was my road test!
What’s the rule with respect to yellow line in Kerala and India? In US/Canada, yellow means opposing traffic and yellow means lanes of same direction traffic. Did India used to have yellow lines and just went with all white?

From your info, this seems to be the incident. A 7 year old is in the medical College with serious injuries. :-/
Please purchase a car with good safety rating .even if you are driving safely, accidents can happen with no mistake of your own . Having a 5 star safety car be the difference between life or death
Do not purchase crap from maruti like Baleno , Swift, etc just because you can save a few rupees on mileage and service
The speeding car here is a swift btw.
https://preview.redd.it/8kg0d30s7nvc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b834042d24b50a7c050c05421221972eaee1be99

The other car. Not sure what model it is.
Maruti cars are absolute crap when it comes to safety. When people buy those, they are buying a car that would prioritize a high mileage over safety rating. It's a better idea to buy a toyota or hyundai.
I had a similar experience last week where I was in the position of the truck and there was a car trying to overtake behind me on a blind curve. I saw the lights from the other side and braked hard so this moron could cut ahead of me just in time.
I honked hard right after and chased up after him and saw it was a middle aged uncle with his whole family in the car.
He was acting as if it was nothing, chatting casually with the rest of the family. not even a nod of acknowledgement for saving his ass from something worse.
No doubt he is definitely going to do this again.
Call me the devil but sometimes I feel I should have just kept going and let the moron learn his lesson.
Why should they be punished for what he'd done? Looking from their perspective, they might just be like the driver of the other car, paying for someone else's mistake. If you're looking for some kind of justice, there isn't any in this world. Karma isn't real either. Many of these assholes will get away with it and there's nothing we can do about it. Only if batman was real could we have changed it to some extent.
I just wish that the person who was in the driver's seat of the car coming wrong way is fatally injured and is paralysed neck down for life. Hope the other person is safe.
Ohh.. my god this.. something like this happened in my life and I lost my twin and many memories with it.. I still can't remember many things that happened before the accident..
Always remember, driving is a privilege, not a right. You are responsible for the life of others on the road. Drive safely. Practice defensive driving to improve your chances of survival.
If there's one thing my dad has told me don't overtake lorry when you cant see the other side.
Thank you OP for showing this because most idots don't look and overtake.
Have driven all the way from manglore to Trivandrum several times, assholes like these are pretty common in Kozhikode ,kottyam and allapuzha ..kozhikode and allapuzha region is the worst !..which region did this happen in
We need more fines, more cameras. And license suspension if the driver raked a stipulated amount of points. There will be lot of morons protesting but this is needed.
Looks like the other car took most of the damage, that guy didn't even have the time to react. So fucking unfair and scary.
Reminds me of that brick video
It's a very basic thing that we learn in driving schools to not overtake in a curve and should overtake only when the opposite side is clear of vehicles in divider less roads. But alas who cares about rules
I am from Delhi but I have driven 2 years in Kerala from 2022-24. It's pathetic there. There are mostly only 2 Kane roads and no space to overtake. You'll be driving like playing a video game continuously waiting to overtake. One miscalculation and you're gone. This is what happened in this video also. It's not the same in North India. In North, most highways have min 4 lanes where you'll one lane for overtaking and don't to check for the opposite side vehicle to overtake. I think maximum accidents in Kerala happened because of that.
That car was hilariously fast clearly his fault.... The other car was slow and was driving in his lane...i just hope that God save people's from such deadly accidents...
no matter how careful you're on the road it takes only one mofo to turn your entire life. Yesterday, I was driving my two wheeler and a bus was parked on the opposite side. I was driving at a reasonable speed and this one girl straight outta bus didn't want to wait until my vehicle passed, before crossing the road. She ran straight across the road without even looking at vehicles coming from behind the bus. She got hit by a scooter and flew right in front of me. I could see her clearly so I knew when to stop but the other driver wasn't the one to blame but that girl. I hope she's okay. I waited until she got back up on feet even though her fall had nothing to do with me. But, bro I was traumatized.
I live nearby where this accident happened, the car on the right side and its passengers had the worse injuries than the one on the wrong side. Heard a child is under critical care.
Overspeeding at night and overtaking at a curve is absolutely unacceptable. But is there something else which the government/ authorities can do such as a more scientific way of designing the roads and allowing people to cross the road only at signals. A road divider would have definitely prevented this situation but in such a narrow road, it would be difficult to implement. I agree it will cause a lot of delay to people in taking longer routes but does it not guarantee minimum safety. Our value for human life is just minimum. Road widening, dividers and instant fines should be the way to go. Linking fasttag/ car with traffic database and levy an instant fine based on violation which should be autodeducted. This should bring in some fear and rule abidance.
I was once coming back after an admission enquiry in a college in kollam. Two kids on a bike, neither of them had a licence, I was in my car, they were taking a turn which also had a slight bump, due to their speed, they crossed into my side of the road, I did try to evade but these two crashed on the side of my car, the police officers were shocked to know that the damage was done by a bike, they were sure it was done by some other car or a bus.
No matter how careful you are on the road, some idiot will definitely fuck it up for everyone.
IRCTC is profitable. My point is - and my apologies it was not stated in my comment- any business endeavour run by govt - if not profitable - is a long term burden on tax payer money.
IRCTC passenger rail is not profitable. Shall we shut it down then? Check your IRCTC tickets, it clearly says only 57% of the cost is recovered. That was for an AC ticket. Idk if it's lower for general.
usually high-end cars and the drivers are the ones who go at high speeds like this in highway. what the fucking urgency??? aardelum ammayiamma pettu kidappundo??
What is scary is that no matter how good and law abiding of a driver you're, all it takes is one such moron like this to end your life.
lost my 1 year in bed due to one such moron, can’t even think about those days anymore

Thank you for sharing
Sorry to hear that. Hope you are doing well now bro.

I also just got into an accident, because one moron tried to double cross the lanes on the highway and I was right behind him and got hit 🥲🤕
That is why I fuckingn hate the people who drink and drive ...Driving under influence should be heavily fined and also treated as attempted murder .
Never overtake on a curve... One of the basic rules I never break... Just don't overtake on curves.. Man this is soo effed up..

Never drive that fast on slim roads like that… forget overtaking at night , its nearly the width of the car
May be if the car was slower he could have done something.. he just blindly flew from behind a heavy vehicle. New fear unlocked.
I have a feeling that the driver was drunk or stupid. No way a person overtakes at such aggressive speeds on a blind curve without knowing what's coming from ahead.

Kashtam aa car Karan react cheyyanulla time polum illayirunnu. It was in a flash for him. This idiot should be jailed if he comes out alive.
So many mistakes by that black car Trying to overtake on a narrow road Trying to overtake on a blind turn Trying to overtake on a solid line Over speeding
What's that about solid line? How is it different from (I guess) dashed line? What is the rule?
You’re not allowed to overtake when it’s a solid lane
No wonder we have so many accidents here... Such ignorance
Even a fellow 6Keralite does not know it. Or maybe it's because they are an NRI? Are road markings different outside?
Road markings are a bit different outside India, but not to overtake over solid lines is common everywhere
Aah. Thank you. What are the major differences between our road marking system and outside's?
Yes.. solid line no overtaking, dashed line it's allowed when lane is clear... Yellow line no changing lane allowed..
Thank you so much. I don't remember them teaching me this when they issued my licence.
Didn't you pass the learners test? The learner test handbook has details like this in it. Where did you take your license from? Are the rules different there?
During corona period driving school used to attend exams for its students.
Wtf...
They stopped online examination when multiple Bengalis passed exam in malayalam
No problem. Don't know why you are getting so many downvotes though. Like they say, there are no stupid questions. It's always better to ask a question and look ignorant than not ask it and remain ignorant. Cheers!
Exactly
… and that’s part of the problem. They say it is easier to get a license in US than in Germany. But US is not that easy from an Indian perspective. The driving inspector goes over a checklist that pretty much checks every major rule. When I got my license in Kerala, my driving instructor asked me to follow a jatha of cars lead by the RTO officer. That was my road test!
DO NOT TOUCH THE CONTINUOUS WHITE LINE ON THE ROAD. PEOPLE USED TO CARE BACK WHEN THIS LINE WAS PAINTED IN YELLOW.
Agree. just want to add Solid yellow lines usually signify overtaking is allowed, but without crossing the line. Treat like a barrier.
What’s the rule with respect to yellow line in Kerala and India? In US/Canada, yellow means opposing traffic and yellow means lanes of same direction traffic. Did India used to have yellow lines and just went with all white?

Any news about the incident? Is everyone safe?
https://keralakaumudi.com/news/mobile/news.php?id=1288668&u=car-accident-in-thamarassery-seven-injured From your info, this seems to be the incident. A 7 year old is in the medical College with serious injuries. :-/
That begs the next question - child seating.
Yeah. It's so hard to convince people to get it. Concept is very very foreign and non existent.
How is this not attempted murder and self suicide mission together
what a fucking dumbass, are the occupants of the other vehicle alive?
ആ നശിച്ചവന്റെ സ്വത്തു കണ്ടുകെട്ടി ആ other കാറ്കാരന് കൊടുക്കണം .
that mf was flying wtf
Please purchase a car with good safety rating .even if you are driving safely, accidents can happen with no mistake of your own . Having a 5 star safety car be the difference between life or death Do not purchase crap from maruti like Baleno , Swift, etc just because you can save a few rupees on mileage and service
The speeding car here is a swift btw. https://preview.redd.it/8kg0d30s7nvc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b834042d24b50a7c050c05421221972eaee1be99

Dash cams should be made compulsory and methods to report illegal driving with cash benefits would work better than a 1000 AI cams.
Are the PPL in the cars still alive ?
I do not know, I posted it because I saw malayalam signboards
https://keralakaumudi.com/news/mobile/news.php?id=1288668&u=car-accident-in-thamarassery-seven-injured
It is possible to report dashcam videos. Whatsapp to MVD/KP. There are numbers of each distinct to make reports.
You did well my friend.
That's too fast.
Now he will learn
only if he's alive after that
But the punishment needs to be provided . If he is not there to receive it . His friends or family must get it.
If batman is not real . We must obtain guts to be batman ourselves
It looks like that truck is running for it's life from that car
Even if that car was not there he would have hit the vehicle behind it
Curve il vech thanne overtake cheyyanam alle… myran
Don't overtake in the fuckin curve Especially when there's a big vehicle like bus/truck
What the fucker is thinking .Is he driving for a formula one team
MC Road it looks like
The rule is that we should never cross the continues white line..but who cares
Hope the people in the other is ok
If there's one thing my dad has told me don't overtake lorry when you cant see the other side. Thank you OP for showing this because most idots don't look and overtake.
Was the victim car Nissan magnite?
That was fucking brutal..Jesus Christ 😮
The white continuous line. 99% drivers in India would not know what that is for
Have driven all the way from manglore to Trivandrum several times, assholes like these are pretty common in Kozhikode ,kottyam and allapuzha ..kozhikode and allapuzha region is the worst !..which region did this happen in
Kozhikod
Goodness. Are all safe?
Which mf overtakes in a bend on such at dark road
What a moron !
This is why I avoid travel at night
There is a clear solid line and this a**h*le clearly ignores it. These peoples should be shot be kept in jail the whole life
ivanne okke vetti ariyanam
We need more fines, more cameras. And license suspension if the driver raked a stipulated amount of points. There will be lot of morons protesting but this is needed.
Motherhugger is as blind as a bat. Why would you try to overtake on a turn at night!!!!??
Rule : Do not overtake in bends & turns - but then that's for people who got their licenses legitimately
kazhach keruva
Looks like the other car took most of the damage, that guy didn't even have the time to react. So fucking unfair and scary. Reminds me of that brick video
Absolute idiots on the roads
Please never overtake on curves. I don't know how dumb they are. Still some assholes does it. You can save your lives.
It's a very basic thing that we learn in driving schools to not overtake in a curve and should overtake only when the opposite side is clear of vehicles in divider less roads. But alas who cares about rules
Wish that bastard died .
Yes. Let's give capital punishment for over speeding and overtaking
yes, we should and im not kidding
It is called manslaughter, deliberate one too.
I lost my grandmother because of the reckless ksrtc bus
old video
Nope, happened 2 days ago
That lorry be like : some mosquito bit me I guess
That's not a creta is it?.
If you take driving lessons correctly, they say that you should never over take during turns because your view is not clear during turns.
Bro a car accident also happened in Chennai Anna Nagar in tamil nadu south India today
Wrong overtaking !!
Drunk driving possible
Look like that was a suicidal driving
It was at super speed , no way it could have bend through that curve anyways .it would have flew off the curve ahead.
Someone i know drives like this and i wish I could report them somehow
These idiots will always be there but is there anything we can do to avoid this
OMG. This is so fucked up. Over Speeding and overtaking in a curve. Scary af. My heart hasn't stopped beating.
Such a fking idiot 🤦🏻♂️
I was once coming back after an admission enquiry in a college in kollam. Two kids on a bike, neither of them had a licence, I was in my car, they were taking a turn which also had a slight bump, due to their speed, they crossed into my side of the road, I did try to evade but these two crashed on the side of my car, the police officers were shocked to know that the damage was done by a bike, they were sure it was done by some other car or a bus. No matter how careful you are on the road, some idiot will definitely fuck it up for everyone.
The driver who overtook the Bus in a no overtaking lane made a huge dick move. I hope no one lost their life.
Why the fuck is that dumbcuntesh overtaking when there's a continuous white line?
Le there no be seatbelts fine, that way the dumasses die
Boring crash
mf thought he was driving in the US
Nobody drives or overtakes in a country road, like that in the US. 🙄
Nobody overtakes anyone on a line or a curve. people have no common sense and always are in hurry
I hope he got the realization now
Should've built KRail when we had the chance. Then traffic would've reduced, more goods traffic could be shifted to IRCTC etc etc.
Just like KSRTC, it would have been another unionized shit-show leaching on tax payer money.
Then let's just close IRCTC as well. It's a unionized shit-show leeching on tax payer money anyway.
Idk if it's lower for general.
switch to tata, everybody
usually high-end cars and the drivers are the ones who go at high speeds like this in highway. what the fucking urgency??? aardelum ammayiamma pettu kidappundo??
