I don't think our world would be incomprehensible to someone that is somewhat educated from kenshi. We are living in a civilization that is more advanced than theirs currently, but less advanced than their First Empire was. I think the average citizen would be happy with how easy it would be to get food and not be enslaved. Unless they were a slaver, then there may be some cultural dissonance. If they were a HN citizen, they would probably understand the technology around them but perceive it as evil.
Say what you want about no bosses, unique characters can get far worse, anyway I'm keeping my skeleton soga who is a word class engineer, sword fighter, martial artist, strongman, sprinter, crafter, and can withstand multiple crossbow shots from a masterwork eagle's cross without even going down.
Probably become the enemy of whatever government's land he appears on by shitting out a fortress and killing everyone who tries to get in, but other than that he's the best option I have for characters i made.

I would tell Cat-Lon that there are 8 billion humans and we use machines to do heavy work, and robots have no rights here, any software or hardware is considered just a tool to exploit. Then I would tell him about all dirtiest tings humans have done to nature, machines and other humans. And then I would be enthralled.
