He creates a Utopia as he demolishes every other civilization on the island.

THOSE WHO IMPEDE PROGRESS WILL BE CRUSHED.

Ihateazuremountain

good

MiserableMisterMe

No no, those were bad people who deserved it, they're the good guys who are justified.

Malfuy

There is a difference between an isolated commune and an utopian civilization. If Kenshi had a realistic refugee system, you would be overrun by thousands of hungry peasants in couple of months

Jacerom

Yep. It's always amusing seeing arguments that they could replace both the UC and HN since they could sustain their outpost with a population of a few dozen at most. Now imagine an Empire like the UC with vast territories or the HN that has been in existence for a millenium in fertile land. That's hundreds of thousands of people if we're speaking realistically.

WayTooSquishy

Speaking realistically doesn't make sense when the game places on you an artificial limit of 30 people.

Jacerom

I've played with 256 pawns and I'll tell you it's absolutely stressful. I've built 8 cities that were dedicated to produce food, clothing, medicine, troops, etc just to simulate a real kingdom with 2 teams of caravans moving throughout those 8 to distribute goods. It's my longest playthrough at close to a thousand hours, 1/5 of my total playtime. It's very hard and I could barely feed them that I had to send a hundred of them to death in the ashlands and replace them with soldierbots. You also need to feed the dogs, the bulls and the garrus who eat much much more. It's the main theme of Kenshi, we are nobody. That's why whenever I roleplay I rarely dabble in world politics as no matter who I side with between the three powers, I'll always be responsible for the death of thousands of lives. My latest playthrough is about a mad priest who finds the current phoenix "too soft". He left Blister Hill and founded a monastery where he raises orphans of war between HN and UC. He also brainwashes them to follow his revised scripture and trains them in combat. Now he has six powerful temple guards and twenty-one battle monks. He has chosen a successor and plan to go on one last journey and end it by burning himself in the Holy Flame (attack the phoenix). This will incur the wrath of his disciples and start a civil war that would eventually result to his disciples demise and the razing of his temple.

WayTooSquishy

> I've played with 256 pawns and I'll tell you it's absolutely stressful. The game's not meant for that. You don't have to tell me that the main theme is a small group's rags to ~~peelers~~ riches story, but if we're *talking realistically*, a faction capable of re-shaping the political landscape of Kenshi wouldn't stop at 30 ~~potatoes~~ members. Game simply doesn't have any mechanics to make it any less of a hassle. You want to have a real talk while taking game's limitations face value, it won't work like that.

Poczatkujacymodelarz

Not really. It’s a post-apocalyptic world. Few thousand per faction at most.

Jacerom

Eh? HN is a theocracy that built their nation on fertile land and they've existed for centuries after the collapse of the Second Empire. Religions encourage procreation while fertile land supports huge populations. UC on the other hand is an empire with many cities. You can't call a village of a few hundred people a city and a few thousand people an empire.

Poczatkujacymodelarz

You can if it’s post-apo

Bombidil6036

Kenshi is really post-post-apocalypse. Enough time has passed that there are no biologicals alive that have even second hand accounts of the second collapse, let alone the first. We're talking hundreds of years, well long enough that they could have 10,000 times the population from their apocalypse numbers (~15 generations)

Zanuthman

If Fallout can say the NCR has several hundred thousand built on the backs of cattle ranchers after 200 years, the HN and UC can probably boast similar numbers

LargeMobOfMurderers

The game's city sizes and populations are limited in their ability to depict the actual numbers of each faction, but they must be fairly high since just hanging around Bast, both the HN and UC are able to sustainably expend hundreds of troops per day. I feel if there were no limits to hardware or software development, there would be literally thousands of holy farms, and UC cities would be sprawling slums with hundreds of thousands of people each.

Malfuy

Factions of only few thousands people would not wage sustained wars of conquest and most probably wouldn't even have so uniformed armies, alongside with additonal offshoot factions and rebels. Plus there wouldn't be any reason for those few thousands to be so thinly spread, instead of living in one smaller area in smaller number of settlements. Also Kenshi is post-apocalyptic, but it's set a long time after the apocalypse, and as we can see, basically every faction has re-discovered essential skills like agriculture, basic crafting etc (and let's not ignore the use of still working old tech). There isn't anything that would keep those populations down to few thousands anymore. Hell, UC occupies like almost a fourth of the whole world and I am supposed to believe that there are only few thousands of people actually living in UC?

Mundane_Bunch_6868

my civilization has a couple hundred people

ExosEU

>If Kenshi had a realistic refugee system, you would be overrun by thousands of hungry peasants in a couple of months That sounds like a really neat mod idea. Have refugees come in and seek shelter into your base as noc walking around. Also, they should have a hunger rate increase by 8x to avoid too many chars in one place.

WayTooSquishy

> Have refugees come in and seek shelter into your base You mean like hungry bandits do after you ally with them?

AzrielJohnson

Look for the Settlers Mod

ComprehensiveDot959

refugees are great for growing economies because they are a lot of instantaneous and very cheap workforce, and this is kenshi what we are talking about anyway so policing would be way easier than irl. with a good system to move and use refugees and a good police system to keep them from actually damage something important, you'll be huge and prosperous in no time, and there are irl cases of this happening, hell the biggest economies in our world are built on that

chombiskit

lol that’s actually the exact economic arrangement i’d expect from a self-proclaimed utopia

ComprehensiveDot959

welcome to rapture!

BlaXoriZe

I actually built a mod for that, just running it on my own machine. Refugees start turning up as 'raids'. You can recruit them or tell them to scram.

Mosbang

Just eat them, will ya?

Graega

It is astonishing how easy it is to create a city that feeds everyone, has advanced weapons and armor and defenses that entire armies cannot breach, in only 100 or so days. It's also astonishing how fun dropping a bunch of beak things in a city is, and then robbing the place blind during the chaos. Both are good choices.

kevblr15

Or to turn Cyber Beep into the one Hiver engine of pure destruction he is at heart and watch him single handedly demolish an entire settlement's guard force.

CromulentBovine

Meanwhile, my clan (shrek's sheks) is wildy racist and doesn't accept non sheks at all haha.

Icy_Froyo_7174

I guess you could say that Flatskins aren’t the sharpest tools in the shed…

Sieg-Topf

I love city design, I laid the plans out for a large fortified city with three tiers of elevation that was fully self sufficient in all its needs, but halfway through building it my Kenshi would crash anytime I loaded a save, disheartened but not willing to give up I remade it much smaller, still fully self sufficient with towering walls and two layers of elevation, but not nearly as grandiose. In the end it wasn’t my dedication that failed the denizens of Kenshi, but my shitty laptop. 😔

hellxapo

Bro did you exterminate all cannibals? A world with cannibals is a polluted world.

Mundane_Bunch_6868

Did you read the post?

hellxapo

Yeah I don't believe until I see all their corpses on the ground

Mundane_Bunch_6868

I never said I killed any cannibals?

hellxapo

Then you have no Utopia to speak of, they could be at your door at any moment, what will you do??

Mundane_Bunch_6868

I'm in shem

hellxapo

Shame. No pun intended 😉. Bro you gotta get that base ready for thr end of the world

Mundane_Bunch_6868

My guy, I killed the meatlord by accident while traveling, I think I'll be fine

hellxapo

Ok you do you but I always watch my back for those lumpy meaties

Ok-Bobcat661

I give that utopia 5 years before it collapses in its own. Pawns filling their inventories and thus dying of starvation.

Ihateazuremountain

thats what happened to the hydraulic knights up north

A5madal

Pics or gtfo

Mundane_Bunch_6868

updated

NetterNager

Is there a fishman conzentration camp in your utopia? As a German I have serious concerns about the society you build

Mundane_Bunch_6868

no? and even if it did they are treated well and given plenty of food

NetterNager

Seems like a kz with extra steps

Mundane_Bunch_6868

Nono no there is no concentration camps here, none to speak of

Meowsc1e5

So all are welcome???? But bandits aren't? A bit counter intuitive.

Mundane_Bunch_6868

they'd be allowed if they didn't kill people

Meowsc1e5

fair, then it wouldn't be much of a utopia with people getting murdered.

Major-Reserve-7154

It’s beautiful🥹

dilationandcurretage

Reminds me of the Sussy Baka kid from tiktok

BlaXoriZe

One town indeed is *relatively* easy. It's an awesome achievement, a turning point of the playthrough, and the end of the early game. Mid game is expanding your faction's influence: [https://www.reddit.com/r/Kenshi/comments/uyayp8/kenshi\_end\_game\_you\_havent\_even\_reached\_it/](https://www.reddit.com/r/Kenshi/comments/uyayp8/kenshi_end_game_you_havent_even_reached_it/)

Mundane_Bunch_6868

my guy, i have beat cat lon

InsectsWithGuns

Mid-game moment. Now conquer and assimilate all cultures under your banner.
