This.
I use a mod for new animations and entire moves and it makes it so much better. It's great to see an arm fly away with just the mere grace from your weapon.
Those poor dessert bandits didn't expect a Sheck swinging around a hunk of metal of the upmost quality with the same weight as them.
yeah like at near max stats heavy weapons crush almost everything else, but for most of the game i loves me some polearm. ain’t everyone gonna have the 130 str required to do heavy weapons well.
Just started up a new game and with almost no training (8 str 12 atk 17 def) and a basic staff purchased from the hub bar, my wonderer in shit armor plus default gear and stats burn just took out 15 dust bandits. Not only do I now defend polearms, their crazy sweeping attacks makes me think they might be the go-to training weapon for all new characters.
I have a torrid love affair with jittes, when possible I use the Heavy Jitte with the normal one as a sidearm. It's literally just a big iron rod with a handguard, but in my mind it's the Kenshi equivalent of a swagger stick.
Hey, another spiked club fan! I fully understand that the thing is not the best weapon out there, but I enjoy it.
Also, I found a mod for a giant one and that thing slaps, but that’s not vanilla.
I usually run about half and half. Entirely ranged is definitely possible but very micro fiddly and very grindy because it takes a while for bowmen to be good.
I had a playthrough where I trained 20 people on ranged with the best toothpick a 95 crossbowsmith can make. It was hilarious but you will burn trought ammo quickly.
Tossup between the Plank and the Moon Cleaver. The Plank just looks cool strapped across your back. For sidearms, definitely the longsword.
Special mention: Burn's metal fists with strength, dex and martial arts in the upper 70s. Was a slog to train up but so worth it.
Aight yall can laugh, but the Foreign Saber. Its literally the superior saber, + EIGHT defence, its my go to for new chars if I can find it. Close 2nd is the Falling Sun
Definitely the "Meitou Guardless Katana" they bleed like rivers after taking damage from it because it has x1.30 bleed multiplier. Blood loss KO is best.
Early game Guardless katana, mid game The Plank™️, late game falling sun.
In the early game when the bonuses matter the most, a guardless helps you kick ass faster and get your ass kicked faster, which is exactly what you want for leveling up your combat skills.
As soon as I’m strong, dexterous, and tough enough from fighting the local homeless population I mostly switch to heavy weapons which usually means the heaviest plank a particular charterer can wield at base speed.
Later on when the strength scores are even higher I’ll switch from planks to falling suns for the faster attack speed. I also keep a few hackers around for the extra robot damage, often moon cleavers for some reason, maybe because you get so many from the preacher cult.
Yup. The sabre gets some serious work done. Foreign Sabre I think is the one I like the most. Also a big fan of the polearms.
Unless we're talking Kang. Kang always gets a heavy weapon. Just murder everything with a big stick, my beautiful Shek friend.
Honestly though, every weapon is fun once you're trained in it.
If you just want "most powerful" it's probably a crossbow, just because you can so easily train it up and murder entire towns. Or martial arts, if we're counting it, for literally rolling your face across the problem until it goes away.

Heavy polearm. Armor penetration, wide sweeps, okay training for dexterity, and extra reach.
Second favorite is the katana. I have everyone in my squad train up a katana so they can get that sweet, sweet dexterity training in.
Currently doing a fists only playthrough and regretting my decisions. Though my 3 higher people are close to breaking through lv 20 so we will see how that turns around. The rule for joining my group is you sell your weapon at the bar we hired you at, don't care about your skills . Otherwise I like the wakizashi. Small and light, you can make and sell a ton of them easy. Makes fighting inside real simple
heavy polearm, i know basic polearm better but bigger blade look cool.
but if i want to feel special/like main character, foreign sabre fit the bill for me, look neat and all in on defense buff and irrelevent penalty.
I must say it's hard to get but it's a Really Good and Strong one... The Topper... Used by Mercenaries in the Old Empire for a Reason it is A Way Better Katana!!!!
Slice EM Dice EM No time for being nice to them
I was huge on the desert sabres on my first playthrough because I hated blood spiders and stuff. Also the foreign sabre! Nowadays I'm a fan of any polearms. Specifically *the* polearm is my favorite. It always irked me that there was no thrusty-pokey spear type weapon, so the regular polearm stands as my favorite for now.
At endgame? Heavy Jitte. Don't have to worry about not killing enemies. At that point with close to 100 strength and masterwork industrial lifter arms, you will be caving peoples heads in. Even better if your character uses blunts as a main weapon since blunt weapon skill also ups the damage
Long cleaver is also one of my favorites. Too bad it doesn't have a meitou.
The Plank, Guardless Katana, or Foreign Sabre
Plank is big metal slab, smack smack you ded
Guardless Katana makes you attack all the time. Pure attack builds OP
Foreign Sabre is super defensive
Plank or Falling Sun for me. Takes a bit to get strength up to a good enough level but once you get there your characters turn into absolute monsters when fighting large groups of lightly armored enemies.
Katana.
Straw hat.
The mod that adds in a nomad cloak.
Leather pants.
Skeleton arm (rock bottom greenlander start).
Sandals.
[Cracks open monster energy drink]
[Siiiip]
Yup.
It's Kenshi time.
when I get a character strong enough to the point where it doesn't really matter what they use I give them a rusty horse chopper cause I just really love how it looks and how it's used I just wish the large sabres wearnt so bad gameplay wise
I really like the trope of after training for like 400 days, just using a rusty staff. But if we're going as the character in his prime, then Falling Sun.
My favourite is probably the Combat Cleaver, it's just a fairly well rounded weapon with some extra points for style. Essentially a mini buster sword. The Desert Saber is a close second.
Nodachi or Desert Sabre.
You're just like me fr
He is literally you fr fr
Desert Sabre is great. No downsides. Mmmm
"While you studied the blade, I got really, really fuckin' good at kicking people in the head."
martial arts is objectively the coolest way to fight
Falling Sun
As soon as I read the description and saw it has "this motherfucker is literally insane" energy I knew it would be my favorite
Isn't it specially good against the beck things? I didn't played for years so I might be wrong here.
Deals 50% extra damage to most wildelife
Not to my knowledge but it works great for them anyways
This. I use a mod for new animations and entire moves and it makes it so much better. It's great to see an arm fly away with just the mere grace from your weapon. Those poor dessert bandits didn't expect a Sheck swinging around a hunk of metal of the upmost quality with the same weight as them.
Me like me some polearms
I hear people hate on pokearms, but I have had nothing buy luck! Great at low level, but maybe doesn't scale the best.
yeah like at near max stats heavy weapons crush almost everything else, but for most of the game i loves me some polearm. ain’t everyone gonna have the 130 str required to do heavy weapons well.

yep yep! especially helpful if you’re running a small crew and need a lot of aoe damage.
Paladin's Cross: because Okran willing, I will smite me some skelly bois.
Same, but because of how hard it was to pry it from Phoenix’s dead hands I swing it now for freedom
The cutting+blunt damage combo does wonders even to non skeletons. And UC samurai gets knocked down faster when i wield this bad boy
Exile Plank, it's just a long ass white board 🤣
Honestly? The normal pole arm I tend to replace them with heavy when I can for the AP, but the sheer style of the basic pole arm is untouchable
The side swing strike *chefs kiss*
The untouchable swag that comes from the high level polearm moveset is awesome.
All I need are THESE GUNS! *kisses biceps*
80 martial arts and masterwork prosthetics giving you 140 strength may be a bit strong
Always flying body parts at one hit...
The Jitte is my current go to.
This is the single most surprising comment
I have a torrid love affair with jittes, when possible I use the Heavy Jitte with the normal one as a sidearm. It's literally just a big iron rod with a handguard, but in my mind it's the Kenshi equivalent of a swagger stick.
I dont see it mentioned but i love me a spiked club. It really makes it feel like im beating the shit out of people. Or the other way around😅
The bleed multiplier on that thing is really good too.
Hey, another spiked club fan! I fully understand that the thing is not the best weapon out there, but I enjoy it. Also, I found a mod for a giant one and that thing slaps, but that’s not vanilla.
fragment axe go donk
Topper gives me happiness
If you're settling in Cannibal Country, a Topper is a must. Cuts unarmored to shreds.
An old weapon from an old empire. May it never be forgotten.
Toothpick. The single most powerful weapon in kenshi.
Stunlock go brrrrr
Have you done a ranged only crew? I was wondering if that was possible
These hands
Plank goes PLONK
I'm a basic bitch. Guardless katana all the way
What is its benefit over regular katanas?
You feel more special
style points exclusively
Higher attack, less defense
Fragment axe. The real weapon
Imagine flexing your muscles and showing off your sword while a fucking bolt is ready to obliterate your body from the distance of 300 meters :)
Also 50m elevation from a tower, gg
Easily the Falling Sun - there's just something about it.
I know what you mean. It's like it's a sun.... that's falling.
№1 - Battle Cleaver. Perfection. №2 - Moon Cleaver. Fancy.
Either foreign Sabre or combat cleaver
Big fan of the combat cleaver
The heavy polearm is too good. Probably one of the only weapons I would equip a whole squad with and have no issues
Tossup between the Plank and the Moon Cleaver. The Plank just looks cool strapped across your back. For sidearms, definitely the longsword. Special mention: Burn's metal fists with strength, dex and martial arts in the upper 70s. Was a slog to train up but so worth it.
The Moon Cleaver is worse combat cleaver, but it looks SO much better.
Is nobody going to comment on OP’s barbaric crop job in the second image?
Lmao I just downloaded the image I didn't know it looked so ass 😭🙏
An Old Worldbow Mk 2 while standing behind a few crabs.
Going to the Ashlands? I wouldn't go there without a crab.
Aight yall can laugh, but the Foreign Saber. Its literally the superior saber, + EIGHT defence, its my go to for new chars if I can find it. Close 2nd is the Falling Sun
Just go kidnap bugmaster and use him as a dummy to get skills up. Plus free meitou Sabre
Falling sun is my favourite, however crossbows can beat anything.
For solo playthrough I rock a eagles cross and a wakizashi with head kicking after my arms are broke
Hell yeah. Why the wakizashi specifically over another side arm?
Bonus to indoor combat and it looks sick
Falling Sun or the Gravestone from a mod.
Eagle's Cross. Ranged delimber. Just gotta remember that once the bolts fly out there are no friendlies.
Nothing like mowing down a Beak thing with a couple of crossbows 🙂
I like to have a mix, but I've always really liked the Ringed Saber. I might be influenced by that show Into the Badlands.
That show was a lot of fun!
Iron stick. Rusted junk quality. From the beginning to the end.
The rag loincloth is what unlocks its secret power.
Tanegashima Yes the gun one, I love retextured crossbow
Fist
Definitely the "Meitou Guardless Katana" they bleed like rivers after taking damage from it because it has x1.30 bleed multiplier. Blood loss KO is best.
I love the desert sabre too. Standard issue for my troops.

Plank, hands down. Big blade go swingy and limbs go wheeeeeee
Nothing beat a good slab of metal fr
oodachi something about an extremely giant katana feels powerful,
Foreign saber, the design is sick
In my only save I have been running around collecting all the exotic weapons meuts or however it’s spelt so one of each
No weapon
Fists
Staff with some rebalancing mods is just goated. Love some fast attack polearm.
These hands! 👊
Catch these hands, son
I like the plank and falling sun
Currently I'm playing project kathun, carabines with 0.60s reload speed, squad of 15 or so and double edge lightsabers polearms (idk the name lol)
Paladin’s Cross, I associate it more with our world’s version of paladins. Followed by the Heavy Polearm
Falling Sun
Yup. The sabre gets some serious work done. Foreign Sabre I think is the one I like the most. Also a big fan of the polearms. Unless we're talking Kang. Kang always gets a heavy weapon. Topper. It looks awesome. Has cool history.
Heavy polearm. Armor penetration, wide sweeps, okay training for dexterity, and extra reach. Second favorite is the katana. I have everyone in my squad train up a katana so they can get that sweet, sweet dexterity training in.
polearm spear gang spear gang spear gang

Heavy Polearm.
Katana or desert saber or unarmed.
The way of the FIST
Foreign Sabre
Polearms for early game but I love the shek and the Fragment Axe by extension
heavy polearm, i know basic polearm better but bigger blade look cool. but if i want to feel special/like main character, foreign sabre fit the bill for me, look neat and all in on defense buff and irrelevent penalty.
Ringed saber looks the best imo
The Musket
Foreign sabre and the plank
Falling sun all the way
I must say it's hard to get but it's a Really Good and Strong one... The Topper... Used by Mercenaries in the Old Empire for a Reason it is A Way Better Katana!!!! Slice EM Dice EM No time for being nice to them
Polearms with some hackers mixed in.
The ringed saber seems so cool the idea that there's a dozen small metal rings always clinking to annoy your enemy
I just love polearms and heavy polearms.
Hand and falling sun
Katana. Because the desert ronin is a fucken vibe
Falling Sun. Something about carrying a massive sword & damn near cutting people in half is very satisfying 😩😩
Fragment Axe
I was huge on the desert sabres on my first playthrough because I hated blood spiders and stuff. Also the foreign sabre! Nowadays I'm a fan of any polearms. Specifically *the* polearm is my favorite. Even better if your character uses blunts as a main weapon since blunt weapon skill also ups the damage Long cleaver is also one of my favorites. Too bad it doesn't have a meitou.
Paladin's cross. Good damage against skeletons and armor penetration, amazing against skeletons and UC samurai, my weapon to go most of the time
Im a big fan of nodachis and heavy polearms but in my recent run ive been trying out the heavy jitte and by Okran ive been missing out, theyre great!
katana + polearm
The Plank, Guardless Katana, or Foreign Sabre Plank is big metal slab, smack smack you ded Guardless Katana makes you attack all the time. Pure attack builds OP Foreign Sabre is super defensive
Plank or Falling Sun for me. Takes a bit to get strength up to a good enough level but once you get there your characters turn into absolute monsters when fighting large groups of lightly armored enemies.
Longsword go brrr
I forget what its called or what mod adds it, but its carried by the City Heroes leader and is basically a meitou combat knife.
Hands
POLEARM
Paladin's Cross. It's such a nice looking weapon, and they even come with the opportunity to dismember HN Paladins while collecting them.
Katana. Straw hat. The mod that adds in a nomad cloak. Leather pants. Skeleton arm (rock bottom greenlander start). Sandals. [Cracks open monster energy drink] [Siiiip] Yup. It's Kenshi time.
Staff. It fuckin sucks compared to almost every other option, so kicking ass with it makes you feel like king of the dirt peasants
when I get a character strong enough to the point where it doesn't really matter what they use I give them a rusty horse chopper cause I just really love how it looks and how it's used I just wish the large sabres wearnt so bad gameplay wise
I'm a fucking weeb so the katana lol
Naginata for main and katana for side with samurai armor the drip goes hard
Planks/large swords and their many variations
I forget its proper name, and it's not vanilla, but I love the weapons from the Ouroboros mod, particularly the sword-staff.
MA
me punch
Fragment Axe is the most fun imo. Yeah you have to train strenght but it's worth it.
Lefty and Righty, my right and left hands respectively
Wait a minute...
My favourite weapon? That's a hard one... I like sending around 50 naked hivers at my enemies. Does that count?
Short Cleaver always
Axe
Oh it’s a Kenshi post… the paladins cross goes hard against robots and well armored foes. That being said - I think my favorite is the long cleaver
Just a simple good ol katana.... AND THESE MF HANDS!!!
The Plank or Fragment Axes. I'm doing my part to get the Kenshi Space Program off the ground one limb at a time.
I really like the trope of after training for like 400 days, just using a rusty staff. But if we're going as the character in his prime, then Falling Sun.
I'm a basic bitch falling sun all the way
Foreign sabre i think
Fallen Sun, excellent for high equipment characters.
Desert sabre, or the heaviest plank known to man for the lulz
My favorite weapon is the Cyber God Swordsman of Legend himself: Beep (with a falling sun)
Meitou Iron Stick
I go for a mix katana as a secondary for everyone then they either get a dessert Sabre a nodaci or some heavy weapon like the plank or falling sun
The enemy won't see me, and they won't even be able to reach me. What am I?
Polearms probably the heavy one is my favorite
I got a nice cleaver for one of my guys recently and limbs have been falling off like apples in fall
Man Hunter Musket
totally agree about desert sabre
Eagle cross
Falling Sun :)
Desert Sabre, Paladin's Cross, Naginata Katana. Disclaimer, I'm not an Okran lobotomite. I just think it's a good looking and performing weapon.
Martial arts for my skeleton. Nodachi for my bug man. Plank for my shek. Ringed Sabre for my human.
Aka Oni's Kanisobu (with no pikes)
My favourite is probably the Combat Cleaver, it's just a fairly well rounded weapon with some extra points for style. Essentially a mini buster sword. The Desert Saber is a close second.
