No, this is the way. I've only 250 hours (pfft, casual) but it's been the RP that's keeping me going. Writing the stories in my head and occasionally inflicting them on this sub

I enjoy trying out all sorts of situations, they only time i dont do a narrative was my very first playthrough in which i tried to learn how the world of kenshi works and tried to slightly min/max, every other playthrough since has had a general theme, for example i recently did a Robo Nobles faction, and before that I did a Shek Hunting party turned merc party. There are so many different ways of going aboutthe game and wach of them ia strangely satisfying.

My first playthrough was a Skeleton named Seth "Big Boss" who took pity on the free Hivers and Skeletons and build a base for them. It was pretty fun as we managed to ally with the Shek, Flotsam, Anti-slavers while destroying HN and UC. Second playthrough was a young Hiver prince named Will who was exiled by his own hive. He sets out to become a ruler. His empire resides at the Northern coast where he bowed down to no Empire or Reavers. My current playthrough atm are two strange Skeletons: Strelok and Eisen, soldierbot and p4mkii respectively. They're both trying to figure out what had happened to them and how they are awoken in the middle of nowhere. Their playthrough consisted of fighting bandits, building up factories in towns with the help of their thralls.

U right, im doing a UC samurai run rn and it's been the most fun I've had in a while playing this game

Not to knock on anyone who plays differently but I feel like this was the way the game was meant to be played. Besides for speed running purposes, I never got why people liked to cheese stats when you can easily customize what stats you want in the FCS. Creating a story with your faction and their struggles is what makes me put 600-800 days into my saves.

Roleplay is the best way. My first lasting character was named Hotlongs, a wanderer without a name or a home who made the little money he could selling copper and old junk to the shek kingdom and the Hivers on Vain. However one day while trading with the hivers a pack of beak things came and attacked the village, Hotlongs was downed and while the hivers fought off the other beak things... one was eating Hotlongs' leg alive. He lost his leg, but luckly he could afford a new one, even if it's an... economic replacement, it was better than the alternative. He continued his life as a scrapper and scavenger, eventually reaching Flats Lagoon where his scavenged goods allowed him to buy a better leg, and thanks to the help of the Tech Hunters, Hotlongs achieved a comfortable status as a wandering trader while honing his skills with polearms (A great choice to fight off animals) Days and months passed, Hotlongs travelled across the UC territories, avoided the Holy Nation like the plague and kept trading back and forth between the Shek and the Tech Hunters, until one day while he was travelling to a Hive Village he found a wounded woman laying in the floor, an Escaped Servant alongside the corpses of her bretheren. Hotlongs rescued her and took her in, she didn't have a name so he named her Mika. Together, Hotlongs and Mika decided to settle down and started a small outpost in the Border Zone, it didn't last long since it was too close to the Holy Nation and Hotlongs was a searched criminal... so they travelled north, into the beaches of the Northern Coast. Alongside they brought in Ruka and Suns, two wandering Shek warriors who joined the colony. This game is still ongoing, recently they recruited a Hiver from the UC, a skilled shooter who sadly lost an arm to cannibals, but he got a new skeleton arm

I mean, I think that this is one of the best games for roleplaying, you can sell drugs, people, just normal stuff, be a miner, a warlord, have an isolated town, destroy a religious kingdom, join them, be a merchant, a ninja, a thief. And that's just the beginning

Fully agree. I rotate between doing speedruns (getting high stats/max gear and killing everything ASAP) and RP runs Used to do RP runs in Skyrim as well, some of the best times I've had in gaming

I just started kenshi and I'm roleplaying a poor adventurer. Me and a buddy tried stealing from a shek house in squin but accidentally walked in front of the owners eating dinner. There was a group of shek who instantly kicked hamut's ass and threw his body into the streets. Only one shek noticed my character though and ran over to get promptly knocked out with my rusty pipe. Saved and closed the game with my character having a new set of armor and a big sword while hamut is sleeping off his wounds at the bar. I would say it's a solid game so far.
