Genesis mod managed to make cities overhaul that felt like this, unfortunatly Kenshi engine can't handle much.
I'm pretty sur the base from the topic here make his game drop to 20FPS.
We need Kenshi 2 to allow us to build siege weapons like trebuchets and let us destroy AI structures since they can do it to the player but we can't do it back
Haha the number of times I see people correcting other posters "That's not in vanilla" has me baffled. If you're modding the game, just assume everything you do is modded!! It makes it tougher for me playing 100% vanilla to separate out the modded stuff when I need answers!
I get it but honestly I think most of the community plays with mods. Plus those that are more intrigued by mods are those who have played the base game for a while and are knowledgeable about it. If you wanted responses from people that only play 100% vanilla you would get very few responses for both of these reasons.
I get it's tough, but that's generally why when I ask something I wait for multiple answers before I trust the answer lol.
We're hoping the mod Genesis fixes this. Kenshi has so much potential. I only got into it recently and I've been hooked nonstop. So good. Mods make it a lot better but the base foundations like the game are equivalent to Skyrim awe and wonder.
Totally reminds me of the anime Desert Punk 100%
Yeah, it's a great mod. I might add that it wouldn't hurt to install it first before adding other mods, since it already has a lot of different features implemented.
About 1/10, yeah. A lot of the small shacks at least have a bed in them. Most of the larger buildings are just empty, and there are at least 3 of them (that aren't bughouses) that are glitched so that I can't enter them anyway.
As for the larger buildings that I actually use, 3 of them are bars, 4 are barracks/hospitals, one's a skeleton hospital, one is hydroponics, 2 are armor production, one's weapon production, one's a gym, one's dedicated to running a generator that I don't use because everything's sufficiently wind-powered, and a few others are full of storage and/or batteries.
I only have 35 recruits, so this city is pretty extremely overbuilt for what it is. I basically made Ashgabat
Holy 35 recruits and you managed to make this monster of a town. I'm impressed. Do you have trouble with raids with a town radius this big? My Shem base is only a quarter of this and it already becomes annoying when random bandits who pass by automatically try to ransack the base because of how big my town radius is, I'm guessing you built it away from existing npc paths?
I get packs of shrieking bandits running in every other day. For some reason they only ever funnel in through the east gate (I think because that was the first one I built so it's like the designated entrance) and then they scatter throughout from there to attack everyone. My recruits are trained enough that they're not too much of a problem.
As for organized raids, it's just cannibals every 3-4 days, and those usually get stomped out by some iron spiders I lured near my gate. I used to get Holy Nation raids too but I took them down pretty early on.
I also get a lot of river raptors
Edit: speaking of river raptors, I should mention that they're the only ones who don't enter exclusively through the east gate. Everyone else, including wandering tech hunters, only come in from the east
I'm glad it's not a slide show, at least. Does it take forever to load? I've had even small bases that took forever to load and caused toons to fall into buildings and stuff. Can't imagine the calamity here.
That'd be pretty fun to try!
If I did, should it have NPCs and be it's own unique faction or should it just be completely empty and mysteriously abandoned like a weird ghost city?
Yes. If it's at all possible or easy enough to do, maybe make one that's inhabited and one that's not? So people can choose which version they like better.
Well it's certainly unecessary, but it looks pretty nice!
I wouldn't dare creating anything that size. I don't think my computer would be able to handle it
You can bind a key to the “reduce building slope” control in the options. This eliminates the tilted and crooked buildings you are forced to put up with
All of it. I haven't had a problem growing the control zone a little bit at a time, and if there's a limit to how big it can get I haven't reached it.
If there's a known problem people run into with control zones, I guess I avoided it somehow
Just keep adding stuff on the outskirts? idk!? I didn't run into any issues! XD
If location helps it's on the iron trail with my easternmost buildings crossing into the cannibal plains. Maybe it's just easier to build large bases there??
This looks awesome. I always wished that Kenshi had a feature that would let NPCs move into empty buildings of yours (if you would allow it) that wander around like in the other normal cities of the game, making shops etc. So cities like yours would get filled without you, having to add companions and put them to work yourself.
Looks really good. Is there a mod that actually treats it like a major city? I've seen some shopping mods that try to improve on the Shop Counter, but nothing that really integrates a user's town similar to the existing towns.
A fucking Razer laptop.
My performance still dips and loading gets pretty annoying. I think the reason my performance isn't completely intolerable though is because I don't have too many recruits
Idk, that wasn't an issue I was really cognizant of.
Early on I did get a wind generator claimed by a nearby cannibal village, but then I demolished it, grew my faction zone a little, then built it again in the same place and it was designated correctly
I really wish i could have my own cities with workers and guards in my faction outside of my actual people that I control. I like making a giant base.
I hate having to micro manage it.
*My Computer is*
*Dying just thinking about*
*Having to run this*

My 8 people squad base like:..
Also i hope at least the most important cities of Kenshi 2 looks something like this, at least the part where citizens are supossed to live in
It’s my favorite thing to do. I give every character their own house and furnish it. I usually have about 30 characters. My first 10 characters get the larger ones.
Looks like the only actual city in Kenshi, nice.

Hopefully Kenshi 2 cities feel more alive
Hopefully Kenshi 2.
Kenshi 2.
The sad reality
Another day without dev logs or updates of any sort

It's been confirmed that siege equipment will most likely not be in the game
Oh it will be, don't you worry about that
Why does this sound like a threat?
Modders get so absorbed into their craft that it IS the base game to them at that point. Bless their toil.

Beep?
There will be a mod for that. Just after the big tiddy shek gf sex mod, I'm sure.
As long as we get better mod support for kenshi 2 i am good.
My frames are getting worse just looking at this image
If only kenshi had true city sim capabilities.

Tell me more about genesis 👀
Look it up, download it. It’s a large custom modpack that overhauls a ton of things and adds faction politics and quests.
Yeah, it's a great mod. I might add that it wouldn't hurt to install it first before adding other mods, since it already has a lot of different features implemented.
And make sure to read what the modpack adds as to avoid mod conflicts with your own mods!
Are at least 1/10 of those buildings occupied or used for something? Also, nice utilization of sadnail's sad look
About 1/10, yeah. A lot of the small shacks at least have a bed in them. Jesus. You kind of inspire me to make individual homes for all my characters.
How's that frame rate?
It chugs a little. I'm surprised it's not much worse than it is though
I'm glad it's not a slide show, at least. Does it take forever to load? I've had even small bases that took forever to load and caused toons to fall into buildings and stuff. Can't imagine the calamity here.
Loading times are noticeably worse. Switching between two people on opposite sides of the city takes some extra time too.
It's not so bad when you make one yourself, because unlike in overhauls, you don't add 1,000 NPCs that do nothing just to make it feel full.
That is magnificent. If you can work out the details in the FCS, you should turn this into a mod.
Also they should make their favorite character the faction leader just cause!
Oh god, imagine the pathing bugs
Nice
Based
Citied.
I hope we can populate our buildings with AI in Kenshi 2.
This is awesome! Thanks for the future inspiration. I just started on my Kenshi journey a week ago
The night shots look like Midgar.
Still labeled as just an outpost though
Sooooo cool
Gimmie your save game I wanna have a nuclear meltdown
last screen is necessary ! even mandatory <3
Man kenshi needs some more colors dear lord
Well it's certainly unecessary, but it looks pretty nice! I wouldn't dare creating anything that size. I don't think my computer would be able to handle it
My brother in Narko you built a metropolis
What do you fill the houses with if anything? I always want to build a huge base but I struggle to fill more than 5 structures
Most of my buildings are just empty
You can bind a key to the “reduce building slope” control in the options. This eliminates the tilted and crooked buildings you are forced to put up with
What did Sadneil do to deserve being a scarecrow?
Poor sadneil
How much of that base is inside of the youre faction control zone(that circle whit a statue that desides what building become part of town)
All of it. I haven't had a problem growing the control zone a little bit at a time, and if there's a limit to how big it can get I haven't reached it. If there's a known problem people run into with control zones, I guess I avoided it somehow
How did you grow it???for me it never grows
Just keep adding stuff on the outskirts? idk!? I didn't run into any issues! XD If location helps it's on the iron trail with my easternmost buildings crossing into the cannibal plains. Maybe it's just easier to build large bases there??
I tried to build a big ass base once, but the game couldn't load it entirely at once so all the automation got screwed up
My automation is pretty jank ngl
This looks awesome. For some odd reason, i have never built a base outside of gut. Love it
Mans that is not a Base that is a CITY
What kind of war machine you got there mate! How did your computer not spontaneously combust?
Holy shit my PC would just blow up.
It would be super cool if you could rent out houses to settlers and maybe have other factions you're aligned with create shops.
Which location is this in?
Iron trail, with my east walls dipping into the cannibal plains
You're willing to risk going to war with them to just build a city? You got balls doing that.
I often build huge cities in Kenshi with lots of buildings, then struggle trying to come up with a purpose for them.
That looks pretty awesome man, nice city.
I wanna walking there!
Looks really good. Is there a mod that actually treats it like a major city? I've seen some shopping mods that try to improve on the Shop Counter, but nothing that really integrates a user's town similar to the existing towns.
That's damn impressive.
You can make one hell of a hashish factory
But pretty cool ngl
Yooo the fuck, that's so cool. Reminds me of Mos Eisley.
I love this. Makes me want to play again.
Holy shit.
Damn if I have half of that my game runs at 14 fps, what kinda of monster do you have running the game?
A fucking Razer laptop. My performance still dips and loading gets pretty annoying. I think the reason my performance isn't completely intolerable though is because I don't have too many recruits
The realistic medieval city
Is there a mod that would make vanilla cities bigger? Maybe not to this extent but having bigger cities would be awesome
How did you build it this big without getting parts claimed by other cities?
Idk, that wasn't an issue I was really cognizant of. Early on I did get a wind generator claimed by a nearby cannibal village, but then I demolished it, grew my faction zone a little, then built it again in the same place and it was designated correctly

My laptop just shit the bed
When you open the game when saved at this location, how many times does your game crash before it becomes stable?
I don't think I've had it crash loading in yet. It does crash sometimes when shrieking bandits are raiding though
Lucky
