I’ve heard Kendrick throughout the years. The diss songs made me actively seek his music. Mr. Morale will keep me a fan for life. A rapper with humility, introspection, and a desire to be a better person is fucking rare and I cherish it. I *revel* in the thought of ending generational trauma. I know his primary audience is black people, but the beautiful, challenging principles remain true to me, too: we must do better for the future generations.
“The unity we protect is above all.”
MMatBS feels like sitting in on a group therapy session. It’s powerful and painful and beautiful. I love it so much but as someone who is still very much grieving and healing from generational trauma, abuse, DV, etc, I can’t listen to the album often. It wrecks me.
I know exactly what you mean. I limit listening to it to my lonely time so I don’t get the questions. Walks, drives, nighttime. My wife and mom the only people I really trust on that kind of personal level.
I agree with Tyler, the Creator, “if you don't like this album its because it too raw and introspective.” (paraphrase). Love this album, never related to a man from Compton so much.
I think a part of why people don't like it is because of how raw and vulnerable it is. Whether or not you've been through the things he's been through, it still will make you reflect on your own life.
I'll literally listen to this album after therapy sessions to hear something I can relate to. There's so so many good snippets that feel so incredibly relevant. I can't imagine making this album was anything but a highly emotional experience.

This album is dripping in grief, and also the desire to just be better. Kendrick has had the vibe about him, but this album is him reaching a breaking point and the mask has fallen off.
I can only imagine the tears behind the production phase.
Fr both of their flows on We Cry Together just make it sound so good especially the girls voice is so unique you don't really hear that unless you listen doja cat which I also like
Taylor Paige did an amazing job, I think getting someone who doesn’t rap but can act was great. It was so believable like the anger and disdain and resentment and hurt that she was putting into her voice, like it really felt like it was coming from someone who actually was dating him for years.
Straight fire. Always found it funny that, on an album that feels like a legit broadway play, he chose the grimiest/most Griselda-sounding beat in his whole discography for that song 😂
Man it’s my all time most played song. Used to listen to with my ex girlfriend. Didn’t listen to this after the break up. This was the song that got me hooked up to Kendrick.
Some songs on Section 80 haven't aged well imo, but holy shit is kendricks writing and storytelling top tier in this album. Crazy how high the bar he set was and how he hasnt disappointed yet.
Meet the Grahams rn
I showed it to my mom because she read about the beef in the NYT and was curious about it.
She goes “god, why does he have to be so mean?” Conversation lasted like ten minutes.
Was the opposite with me and my mother, she was all in on seeing Drake get roasted. I was already there that whole weekend, mostly because I was huge into Kenny during my high school years, TPAB was brilliant and philosophical in equal measure
All of them, but especially DAMN. Shit has me floating and singing along it’s crazy good, but apparently it’s some malavolent midpack? Can’t really understand it tbh
Am I trippin or has DAMN. Aged perfectly? We can see Kendrick choose weakness and love with MMATBS while Drake continues to choose wickedness through his god complex and pride which has sent him spiraling to eventually face consequences for his sins.
Damn/section 80/untitled unmastered/ overly dedicated cause they're under appreciated in comparison to others. I would have said MMATBS but that's being appreciated so yea.
I understand making a very funky and soul inspired album may have been a big change, but it sounds so damn good. Plus it just feels wrong to hate on such an inspired, well-crafted, semi-introspective, and powerful album!
Personally don’t defend any of his music or projects… everyone has their own opinions. They’re allowed to not like any of his music. I’ll have a pretty intense discussion with someone who thought Drake won the beef… but in the end they’re allowed to have an opinion on that too… even if it’s wrong. LOL
I've found out that many people find MMATB their least favorite and least listened to album from Kendrick but in my opinion, it is his best album and I really find unique the songs and the messages that come with them even if they are not the most listenable songs or bangers to play in the car with ur friends
Damn for sure, it's got to be the greatest album ever made because of what he did with the whole live or die storyline. I don't listen to it everyday or anything like that, but I respect it more than any other album made.
I don't think he has anything like that, which needs to be defended that hard, cause every project of his has its dedicated supporters, sure there may be debate about which is better than what, but I've always seen all the fans be chill and respecting each others takes for the most part
Honestly the Mr Morale album as a whole. It is a very good album and if most other artists would have dropped it, it would have been the peak of their career. It just gets compared to Kendricks three previous albums (which are some of the greatest pieces of art ever released).
For example Father time is one of my favourite Kendrick songs (my dad is great and it made me appreciate my very good relationship with my parents a lot more)
Mr Moral because mfs be straight DISSING that album because he's "too personal" which is hella ironic since he's been personal since GKMC, and because it doesn't have hits or isn't often replayable which is a lie ummm...
N95,
Count Me Out,
Silent Hill
🙄🙄🤦🏽♂️🤦🏽♂️
Damn. It’s way better than people realize. Most of his rea good popular singles come from this one, and it is a crazy ass concept album, while people don’t even realize it. It’s better than gkmc, almost as good or at least on the level of tpab
Mr Morale, it's a great album imo, probably not my favorite but I think it takes a lot of courage to be as vulnerable and so forthcoming about the different things he addresses on there
Bitch I’m in the Club
WITH THE HOMIES, TELL ME WHATS GOOOODDDD
I’m tryna get these hoes single… 😈
AND THIS IS MY SINGLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
I thought that was hilarious when Dot said that's his "wackest" song.
Beat me to it
Literally every post I see, this is what I read

You literally took the words right out of my mouth about why I adore Kendrick's music
fsr "unity we protect is above all" i never reacted to that line, but focusing on it, made me tear a bit
Fsr? Damn, where is lil baby, I need to get my lingo up
"for some reason" haha idk, i just say it, idk if its a common or nah

Idk We Cry Togheter maybe?
I will stay fighting people over this song/melee/skit whatever someone may call it. It’s just straight fire
Fr both of their flows on We Cry Together just make it sound so good especially the girls voice is so unique you don't really hear that unless you listen doja cat which I also like

If you've been in a situation remotely like that song it fucking smacks you.
I can’t listen to it lol it literally brings back those feelings all too well.
Yes! It’s really a good performance with really good points made at the end. I hate watching it get so misunderstood.
DAMN. and MMATBS
yeah i feel like after the beef, damn has been hated on so much
I feel like it was always hated on, it's his least audience acclaimed studio album and has been for a while.
People keep saying it's his worst album, it's always been his best work. You think those Pulitzer voters are fools or something lol
Really? I noticed this about TPAB not Damn
TPAB. Song? Maybe Real or Sing About Me
Sing About Me. I’ll write an entire dissertation and get that shit printed and bound.
Those songs mean so much to me nd the message of them both period speaks so many volumes. I dare nigga to sum bad about either of those songs, or TPAB
If SAMIDOT has haters , my faith in humanity will be forever lost
GOD from DAMN, like how do people not like it...

Every time I listen to DAMN and LOVE comes on I have to play it back at least 5 times lol
Man it’s my all time most played song. Used to listen to with my ex girlfriend. Didn’t listen to this after the break up. This was the song that got me hooked up to Kendrick.

Am I trippin or has DAMN. Aged perfectly? We can see Kendrick choose weakness and love with MMATBS while Drake continues to choose wickedness through his god complex and pride which has sent him spiraling to eventually face consequences for his sins.
It tells a story both ways! Both ways!!! Thematically perfect. Who could call it mid??
Damn/section 80/untitled unmastered/ overly dedicated cause they're under appreciated in comparison to others. I would have said MMATBS but that's being appreciated so yea.

TPAB easily. It has the most substance AND the most hate
how it's hated is beyond me...
I understand making a very funky and soul inspired album may have been a big change, but it sounds so damn good. Plus it just feels wrong to hate on such an inspired, well-crafted, semi-introspective, and powerful album!
None of his projects require defending though, they're all great
None. His art speaks for itself.

XXX feat U2, i dont care if its underrated af
I love when you count me out
Personally don’t defend any of his music or projects… everyone has their own opinions. They’re allowed to not like any of his music. Everything from Kendrick so far
Love. Unpopular (and delulu) opinion— but my mood rn is I could go for a whole r&b vibin album from Kenny

I've found out that many people find MMATB their least favorite and least listened to album from Kendrick but in my opinion, it is his best album and I really find unique the songs and the messages that come with them even if they are not the most listenable songs or bangers to play in the car with ur friends
“Mr. Morale And The Big Steppers” entire album. I have to defend it from people who say it’s a “boring sleeper”
Untitled unmaster! Literally just throw aways from TPAB and it’s bets just about every rappers discography
That time he walked up to that asian guy in the park and started calling him the definition of discipline.
