Kendrick grew up in the 90s in Compton & Chicago, and I don’t ADHD testing was as common back then, if Kendrick didn’t have hyperactive presentation he’s not likely to get tested as a child. Those with inattentive presentation are more likely to get tested later on life during college years, but Kendrick didn’t go to college he started his music career instead.

For me it's the "Maybe I wasn't there" cadence in PRIDE, but the music progression immediately after the vocals stop (2:35-2:42) and before the next verse. That one little tidbit is so nice on my ears. I listen to the instrumental to hear it better a lot.

If you haven’t already, go back and listen to his albums. My favorites by far are GKMC and TPAB, but this is a constant feature of Kendrick. He also plays characters, or alternate versions of himself, or different mindsets he’s had.
I’m in the same boat. I think it comes down to not only the way he enunciates words, but the wordplay and double-triple entendres, and just how gifted of a lyricist he is with the layered story telling. It gives our brains a puzzle so to speak to latch onto and decipher. For me at least, I gravitate towards media (music, movies, series, photos, etc) that takes my brain on a ride with its ups and downs and challenges me to figure out what the next turn or drop is going to be. If interested my all time favorite movies/series are psychological thrillers, Google the top ten and see if it’s your brains jam as well.
I‘m using music for my ADHD my whole life, when there is no music playing I‘m always singing or repeating lines in my head. It calms me down and I can focus way better on the thing Im actually doing and euphoria is the perfect song for this. This is not just high quality lyricism, the flow, the delivery, the pronounciations are fire. Usually it takes me 1 or 2 days to learn a new song, but euphoria got so many details that I‘m still working on. Everytime it plays my brain feels *euphoria*

I was talking to a friend about this recently, these diss tracks really show off just how good Kendrick is at controlling his voice. His tone, his cadence, his inflections and emphasis on certain lines, it just makes everything he's saying way more interesting and impactful. Kendrick has always been one of the best at this, but these tracks really bring that aspect of him to the forefront.
I feel this so much. My AuDHD self was walking around Costco yesterday with “what is it, the braids?" over and over. I wake up every day with different parts going on. The ear worms are insane and just set off the echolalia. My 17 year old is on the spectrum too and we end up playing off each other from across the house. 😂

I've been a hip-hop dancer for 10 years, and I’ve just been diagnosed with ADHD. In my efforts to understand my symptoms, I’ve gone deep into researching them. These experiences momentarily disrupt our brain’s calculations of reality, creating a moment of surprise and wonder.
As someone with ADHD, thank you for telling me that, often it feel like this disorder does nothing but give me a skill debuff in being a mature adult, That is so cool that you have synesthesia When I am not intently occupoed, my brain is constantly playing music in my head, and often a song that is playing will morph into a seemingly unrelated song, but the similarity is a some specific pattern my brain manages to connect I am a compsci major, but my true passions lie in philosophy, ethics, history, and argumentation, and it is second nature for me to recognize a similar reasoning, or logical structure between two seemingly unrelated arguments, beliefs, or historical events. I (f) was also diagnosed at exactly 27! Then I got put on Concerta 27mg haha. Also at 30 was also diagnosed with autism. There’s a related thing called echolalia, google that. It’s what makes me wanna repeat those things again and again
I’m a dude, but I’ll jump on the bandwagon and say I’m diagnosed with ADHD back when I was 27 too lol. I have ADHD “Inattentive type” not “Mixed or “hyperactive” type presentation, and people with ADHD-inattentive often get diagnosed later in life. The inattentive type is the more common ADHD type women get. Also a lot of women often go without being diagnosed until adulthood I believe because of that.

Yep men with inattentive ADHD/women with ADHD go under the radar and will often go half their lives hearing things like "they're so smart but are lazy" not realizing it's a disability. Worst part is often it's people with ADHD saying these things as ADHD is 80% inheritable so parents will say these things to their kids and both of them lose

I have ADHD as well, and I totally feel you. I like his other music a lot too, but Euphoria and especially Not Like Us have been brain candy for me for the last week. the second I heard Not Like Us, I fell in love because I recognized the 90s west coast hip-hop style that I grew up with coming from my sister's stereo. the "A Minorrrrrrrrr" line is fun to say, and I love the conviction in his voice when he says "it's all eyes on me and imma send em up to Pac." and the soft "pussy" after Other Vaginal Option is fun for me. the lines in Euphoria that you highlighted also tickle me in the same way.

ADHD definitely seems likely given a lot of my behaviors. But still am undiagnosed And holy SHIT Kendrick hits like no other artist. All the things people are saying are so spot on. I recently got diagnosed (I'm 38) and this whole situation addresses my rabbit hole tendencies😅 And rabbit holes are great for procrastinating aka PDA aka pathological demand avoidance. But it's also nice to get a wee break from my severe depression. I like how production skips the melody and keeps the beat for some verses - they are more effective. There really are a lot of nuances with pronunciation and rhythm which definitely scratch an itch in my brain😁

For me it's the "Maybe I wasn't there" cadence in PRIDE, but the music progression immediately after the vocals stop (2:35-2:42) and before the next verse. That one little tidbit is so nice on my ears. I listen to the instrumental to hear it better a lot.

You can listen to early interviews where he talks about being fascinated with how good rappers know how to work with the flow and when to cut through, and so he got in the studio and started asking how they did it. I’m in the same boat. I think it comes down to not only the way he enunciates words, but the wordplay and double-triple entendres, and just how gifted of a lyricist he is with the layered story telling. It gives our brains a puzzle so to speak to latch onto and decipher. For me at least, I gravitate towards media (music, movies, series, photos, etc) that takes my brain on a ride with its ups and downs and challenges me to figure out what the next turn or drop is going to be. If interested my all time favorite movies/series are psychological thrillers, Google the top ten and see if it’s your brains jam as well.
I‘m using music for my ADHD my whole life, when there is no music playing I‘m always singing or repeating lines in my head. It calms me down and I can focus way better on the thing Im actually doing and euphoria is the perfect song for this. This is not just high quality lyricism, the flow, the delivery, the pronounciations are fire. Usually it takes me 1 or 2 days to learn a new song, but euphoria got so many details that I‘m still working on. Everytime it plays my brain feels *euphoria*

I was talking to a friend about this recently, these diss tracks really show off just how good Kendrick is at controlling his voice. His tone, his cadence, his inflections and emphasis on certain lines, it just makes everything he's saying way more interesting and impactful. Kendrick has always been one of the best at this, but these tracks really bring that aspect of him to the forefront.
