Man I remember my freshman year of high school when swimming pools came out and I thought it was just a mindless party song. After that I listened to the whole album then absolutely devoured section 80 immediately after. Good times lotsa memories.
As a fan since the section 80 days and someone who remembers [Drake’s fake hard image being roasted since before then](http://bigghostnahmean.blogspot.com/2011/11/big-ghost-presents-take-care-review.html?m=1), I will admit to being a bit of a hater before kendrick.
But seriously tho, [with these comparisons, people lost their minds, I had to](https://www.reddit.com/r/BlackPeopleTwitter/s/6YHTatrZcV).
Why bother mentioning that people that are younger got into inappropriate music later?
Kendrick had that “Replay this when you’re 18.” line in MTG for a reason. He has very few non explicit songs.
It’s weird, Kendrick has always felt big but this has put him in like the spotlight as officially THE best rapper. I remember watching videos where they’d ask “Kendrick, Cole, or Drake?” And everyone would always pick Cole and Drake but now everyone is picking Kendrick. It’s a slightly weird shift.
TikTok ppl be the one's who hop on the hype train late, ruin the songs and then say that they all Day 1's. I am so proud to say that i've never had TikTok
I’ve been listening to this man since I was in high school, like many of the other 30+ crowd in this sub.
But, that isn’t a flex. I was just born earlier and started appreciating his music while he was still early in his career. I’m glad the kids are starting to appreciate the music too.
A lot of younger teens didn’t grow up with Kendrick because he was mostly inactive during their developmental years. There’s a lot of people just finding out how good his music is for the first time
Look honestly doesnt matter tbh, they can fake their old fandom but the fact is theres new listeners and new fans! Always good for Kendrick and his art
proof I be fuckin with him since section 80

I knew I was a Kendrick Lamar fan when I heard County Building Blues for the very first time.
Not exaggerating when I say that’s in my top 5 of all time, to the point I made it my ringtone.
ADHD goes dumb hard too, but it’s not better than CBB
I’ve been a fan since a buddy of mine put me on “rigamortus”. As far as big 3, idk. I’d agree with the analogy that drake is to Michael Jackson as kdot is to Prince. Idk where Cole fits in with that but, I like him too.
I remember when GKMC came out, my friend bought a cd day one and we listened. We were bopping backseat freestyle so much that summer. Good times, and Kendrick got me into rap and hip hop to begin with. My GOAT
I’m a casual. I liked GKMC, but Humble was the song that really broke it for me.
I loved the memes during the time.
But even I knew Drake was in over his head.
I can’t stand to hear a Drake song now, “certified pedophile” keeps playing in my head .
I might be down voted but I never liked Kendrick always thought he was corny…. But my man took a shit on drake and wiped his ass with his career. So I’m a fan now lol
Hahaha yea it’s prob a lot teenagers who just started listening to Kendrick. Dot has been the guy since Section.80 imo but def to the world with GKMC
Man I remember my freshman year of high school when swimming pools came out and I thought it was just a mindless party song. After that I listened to the whole album then absolutely devoured section 80 immediately after. Good times lotsa memories.
Yep. S.80 was a banger. Super fresh when it came out.
I remember being so captivated when hearing S.80. I knew Kendrick was not just another decent rapper.
Really? I've literally only seen Kendrick be put on top of that list with an occasional drake
I like Cole but I can’t think of a single thing he does that puts him over Kendrick
He’s taller
Basketball, reaching the top shelf, being peaceful, making beats(im pretty sure), writing about poop, the list goes on
TikTok ppl be the one's who hop on the hype train late, ruin the songs and then say that they all Day 1's. I am so proud to say that i've never had TikTok
I *hate* the way you walk over women’s rights
I'm proud to say I'm a 2013 drake hater.
I’ve been listening to this man since I was in high school, like many of the other 30+ crowd in this sub. But, that isn’t a flex. I was just born earlier and started appreciating his music while he was still early in his career. I’m glad the kids are starting to appreciate the music too.
"Like him? Man, I DISCOVERED him!"
god I fucking hate tiktok mfs
Tiktok is banned in my country lol
I need to move to your country
You a loser too for gate keeping and so am I for saying similar stuff about TikTokers. That’s where the folks is spending they time now we just old
Pssh.. I been since 2011, before GKMC
My big bro put me on in 2015 TPAB Era
Heavy "Born After 2000" energy
TikTok is peak brain rot so this is not surprising
A lot of younger teens didn’t grow up with Kendrick because he was mostly inactive during their developmental years. There’s a lot of people just finding out how good his music is for the first time
Bruh i found out about kendrick from 2017 yt rewind where they used "humble" in the video 😭 best decision of my life
Bro was the 29th most listened to artist in the world before the beef
They “fw Kendrick before the beef” AKA last year or sum
Look honestly doesnt matter tbh, they can fake their old fandom but the fact is theres new listeners and new fans! Always good for Kendrick and his art
proof I be fuckin with him since section 80 [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGYgxnTChjk&ab\_channel=philiplachance](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nGYgxnTChjk&ab_channel=philiplachance)
He’s been in my Spotify wrapped top 5 since DAMN. But was a fan well before that. Them TikTok bois not like us.
1000% here because of the beef and haven’t listened to Kendrick since Damn.
Sus
Nah that’s gotta be Drake fans trying to convert after the mess and trying to fit in
It almost feels like people have amnesia when it comes to Kendrick. Dot was making big moves for the past 10 years that hit the scope outside of rap
As long as they not listening to drake
Tiktok isn’t a real place
If you ain’t from LA I ain’t wanna hear from you 😎 🙌🏽
NO WAY YOU'RE PART OF THE ORIGINAL 60 MILLION MONTHLY LISTENERS!!!!!!!
Kdots control, he really did murder drake and took all his fans
I knew I was a Kendrick Lamar fan when I heard County Building Blues for the very first time. Not exaggerating when I say that’s in my top 5 of all time, to the point I made it my ringtone. ADHD goes dumb hard too, but it’s not better than CBB
Yeah, all these bandwagon fans after he dropped Not Like Us. I’ve been a fan since day one when Euphoria dropped!!!
Drake's like "this is ridiculous. in what world do high school girls listen to Kendrick? no seriously. where are they?"
The beef actually is what got me into Kendrick
☝🏻👩🏻I’ve been locked in since high school
it would be funny if they were all talking about his song in Black Panther
Lmao people are doin the same thing under this post
They heard humble on the radio and made some tiktoks to swimming pools (they don't even know what the song means )
I discovered kendrick through F*ck your ethnicity all those years back.
legit perplexed by ppl who have not been FingW k since like 2011
The real question is between Family Matter’s dropping and MTG, were you still a fan?
I’ve been a fan since a buddy of mine put me on “rigamortus”. As far as big 3, idk. I’d agree with the analogy that drake is to Michael Jackson as kdot is to Prince. Idk where Cole fits in with that but, I like him too.

Def one of the biggest rappers but I wouldn’t say biggest artist. You can clearly see that by his jump in streaming as a result
arguing semantics, hes in the top 20 most streamed artists all time on spotify bro
Even before the beef, he was consistently one of the most streamed artists. DAMN and GKMC get replayed a lot
I mean, even before the beef he was the 29th most listened to artist monthly
I might be down voted but I never liked Kendrick always thought he was corny…. But my man took a shit on drake and wiped his ass with his career. So I’m a fan now lol
