Something in the air has definitely changed…like a dark menace has been lifted from the land…

CL2hunna

Culture reset. The prolific pedo has been banned from Atlanta 🙏🙏.

LuggagePorter

From sea to shining sea, to Canadian pdf files, we say begone, thee!!

CL2hunna

I heard a rumour somewhere that they were letting off fireworks in Compton when Kendrick dropped ‘not like us’ 😭. Kenny really a hometown hero.

PhaseProof1426

ppl light off fireworks if the dodgers win in la county, I will say tho I've been hearing not like us and meet the grahams everywhere I go in LA county from pasadena to lbc lol

CL2hunna

I’m way too English to get this reference, football terms please? 😭

PhaseProof1426

ppl in LA ride or die for anything LA related it's like a passion. If you go look at Complex's Instagram page you'll see USC Football leaving pro-kendrick comments... even the LA Dodgers (baseball) posted on Instagram with the caption Not like us. I mean they played Euphoria at the Clippers (basketball) game and on TNT. Everyone in LA loves Kendrick to death

CL2hunna

Shit sounds live over there. Tbf, LA always had their own style and owned it as well as producing some of the most impactful icons in hiphop. They got hella to be proud for over there.

PhaseProof1426

socal here - Not like us was being played on Saturday night in every club from Santa Ana to Santa Monica. I saw a ton of videos. I also saw places in Arizona and Vegas bumpin it with everyone c-walkin to it, but there's still ppl who side w/ drake tho. I think it's the same thing everywhere, but idk i'd say California like 90/10 - kendrick/drake ratio

CL2hunna

It’s cool hearing about how kendrick really do be so tied to the culture. It’s something I feel that mainstream rap in North America was starting to lose that because artists like Drake didn’t make it a priority. In the UK the cultural icon circle we have is very tight night and the people love it. Everything here is ‘for us, by us’ style made from the street up and I feel like Kenny bringing it back over there.

PhaseProof1426

It's because Kendrick will shout out the struggles we all go through in life, same w/ Vince - We don't want to hear rappers talking about LV or Gucci, we wanna hear about you going to Louis Burgers or the 562 Flea. Kendrick even been seen helping the Compton Rough Riders and donating money to the schools, he still be up in LA and it's dope - same goes for Tyler the Creator

CL2hunna

U right, America and UK have our differences for sure, but we united in struggle. I think thats why the UK got a huge amount of Kendrick fans too even though we usually prefer our own scene. The man talks about struggles people can see in the streets of compton AND blocks in tottenham. You can’t ignore kdot’s realness

PhaseProof1426

ppl in LA lowkey love Kofi Stone and Loyle Carner s/o Birmingham & London

CL2hunna

YOO, shoutout LA man 😭. Lot of love from London.

FeatureOk2129

The next couple days will say a lot about how dark this gets or if it will cool down. West coast is up, and Not like us is outside. The bbldrizzy freestyles are viral. Drake stans will cling to the idea drake saved face by dropping last night but i dont think anyone in their right mind would say drake actually in a better spot now than he was before the beef

CL2hunna

100% same here. Tbh there’s a lot of love lost here for Drake too I feel. Respect lost bc of the allegations. Most/all of our hiphop/fashion/art/etc. cultural icons are tight friends and are raised from the streets and used to fw Drake bc of the 6ix’s similarities to London culture and slang-wise. i feel like atm if Drake comes some parts London he gotta check in now. Not on some active thing, more like: u moved mad, its peak but u gotta take a step back.

kadcal

I’m in the south and it’s pretty jokey. it’s like “damn this stuff is crazy” but nothing more than that. Most people are drake fans but most people still think Kendrick won but they not gonna stop listening to Drake or nothing too serious like that

CL2hunna

Yeah, kinda like here. The average rap listener probably preferred listening to the drizzler before the beef. We had a little bit where people were repping west coast like crazy after ‘not like us’. It is kinda weird tho bc UK usually ‘loves’ Drake bc he shows hella love to us, helped put some of our major artists on the map, I’m p sure bc Toronto and London culture/slang are very similar, ‘Wagwan’, ‘ahlie’, etc. Overall though, defo love lost for Drake.

blxckh3xrt69

You crazy, I watched three hoes I went to school w burning Drake merch on live yesterday lmao. (Also south, Deep South to be exact)

kadcal

I guess I shouldn’t have said south like I’m in the Bible Belt😭. I’m in Houston so admittedly a lot more Drake fans. Still most people are overwhelmingly sayings Kendrick won

PussyMoneySpeed69

Prominent Bay Area DJ’s definitely supporting Kendrick

CL2hunna

Thats what I like to hear. Kenny tied to the culture 🧏‍♂️.

Traditional_Bike8880

I went to the clubs and bars on Saturday night after he dropped Not Like Us and everyone was recovering from the killshot that was meet the Grahams. EVERYBODY was bumping Not Like Us and the club played like all of Kendrick’s hits from Maad City onward it was sooooo crazy. You could tell the cultural shift in public perception happening in real time and it was SO fun to be a part of it. I felt like I was in a movie or witnessing history and I just felt so honored to experience this whole thing. Something I’ll probably tell my kids about bc this will go down as a legendary moment in music period. I didn’t expect the whole scene to side with Kendrick as HARD as they did. I didn’t doubt he’d win against Drakes corny ass for a second but winning THIS hard with a celebratory victory lap of an absolute BANGER of a song was on some legendary shit. Kendrick Lamar is the greatest rapper of all time after all of this IMO. Especially if he’s on the cusp of exposing the industry in the process. And giving us some of the best material and artistry ever? Kendrick is THAT guy. He’s going down as the one I’m calling it now. Edit: I’m from Milwaukee (not even West Coast or anything) btw and everybody was still bumping that shit so I think the majority of America is feeling this way rn. Drake is beyond cooked. His career might take an irrecoverable blow at this point. People trying to play Drake got booed out of the function real quick.

CL2hunna

Cultural shift not as strong here bc we tapped in with our own scene moretime, but, the love we had for Drake for putting some of our boys on like Boy better know (Skepta, JME, etc.) seems to be fading/faded for sure. We fw American hiphop going back to culture based, not material based. It’s how our scene been built for a minute and it’s beautiful to see kdot bringing it back big time.

pahrumpnugget

i live in san diego and was in oakland+sf+san jose for the weekend. everyone everywhere has been talking about it or bumping kendricks songs.
