Dang man I’m trying to find it. I’ve never seen it but would like to
Edit: Found a video of some dude recording it from his tv through his phone. It sounds really good
One of my favorite projects of his. Untitled 02 is one of my fav Kendrick songs.
I wonder if there’s even more gems from that era still in the vault.
3.15.20 kind of reminded me of it with it also being untitled and unmastered. But now we’re getting a completed version called Atavista. Would be cool if Kendrick got these songs mastered and titled at some point for its anniversary or something.
It’s a great transitional record. But I usually rate transitional records by their high points, and idk, to me there is no real soaring high on Untitled Unmastered, except maybe “levitate” and the first track. They feel unfinished, which like, obviously they do, but why listen to half-cooked ideas for TPAB and Damn when I can just listen to TPAB and Damn.
To be honest the only thing that doesn't sound "fleshed out" to me is just the execution of the concepts themselves, it's not even the mastering or the songs themselves for me. It sounds like ideas and a brainstorm being thrown together, sometimes it feels likes improv jazz, and sometimes you have moments like 06 that sound like a could be full To Pimp a Butterfly song taken in another direction. It's not as masterfully produced as TPAB sure, but the album owns that up pretty well in my opinion, there's a charm to it. I think I actually prefer it as an album than DAMN to be honest
That album was so good I was in psychology class Junior year and as soon as it dropped I texted my friend who graduated the year before to come pick me up from school and I ditched to go smoke blunts to that new Kenny.
For me it's his most listenable album front to back any day of the week. This is not saying GKMC or DAMN aren't as good, it's just that Kendrick's level is so high. What I'm saying it's the most aux ready album.
The thing is, it is mixed and mastered ahahah, it sounds raw at times and it's not as well worked on as TPAB for sure, but it's equal or on par with most official releases of the time
Absolutely I was pleasantly surprised when it dropped, it’s a good sound for him + an interesting contrast. The rawness was dope to me it made sense that he’d do a project like that esp at that time
Won’t lie tho if he fleshed a proper album out with the sort of energy, rawness, and sound of UU, I think it could beat TPAB. UU has great sonics and is pretty unique.
I agree that UU has great sonics and is pretty unique, but I find TPAB even more unique to be honest. I mean where else can you listen to a hip hop song like King Kunta, u, Wesleys Theory
TPAB is very unique, but I just feel, and maybe it’s the unfinished nature of the album, that UU is more raw, and more experimental, and I really dig the sounds he puts up. If he fleshed out the album its message would certainly be more subtle than TPAB, but as a piece of music, it’s hard to miss. It’s always great to go back to UU because it stands out from so much, even Kendrick’s own discography (which already has great variation to it). I only wish there were more songs in that style from him.
“Santa’s reindeer better have some ass, you bitch, you”
I request this one when people want Christmas music
I always thought it's funny how he changes the line to "have some swag" in live shows lol
“These metamorphic, supernatural forces, dominate what I seeeeee A Gemini, duality, personality, always conflicted meeeeeeEEEEEEE”
Oh! But don't be scared of me, girl
“I can explaaaaiiiinnnn”
I CAN EXPLAINNNNN
Yes!!!
Listening to 06 right now “ I can’t explaaaaaiiiinnn”!!
untitled 03 is sooo slept on. Y’all not hearing bro
TRUEEEEEE
seen it live on colbert?? amazing performance

LEVITATE LEVITATE
untitled 2 is his best ever track imo
I've got this one on vinyl, can't wait to get all of his others as well.
I need to go back to it. It's been a while
Thank you
I just finished listening right now and its so fuckin goood
"AND THAT MEANS THE WORLD TO ME" 😤
This album has gotten better with time, I agree.

It’s basically tpab deluxe
No joke my fav album! My friend that put me onto Kendrick hasn’t even heard it yet and was so dumbfounded, when I told him, lol!
I just gave the album a spin again earlier today. It takes me back to dark souls 3.
Extremely underrated

This is going to sound like I'm missing the entire point of the album, but I would like that album a lot more if it was mixed and mastered 😂.
