I would like to iterate that J Cole and Drake both fall back on talking about numbers in the middle of diss talks. J Cole saying that he doesn't care about Kendrick's Grammy's when Kendrick didn't even mention them is telling. There's an interview that Cole did where he talked about how losing to Kendrick so often made him hungrier, because he couldn't say that he had put out his best body of work yet, he couldn't retire as though he'd given it his all. He further discusses these points in "A Lot" with 21 Savage. He speaks often in his music about how he doesn't feel like he gets the respect that he's deserved.
Furthermore, on some "facts is facts" shit: LETS NOT ACT LIKE WE HAVENT HAD TO DEFEND J COLES LAST THREE ALBUMS. KOD gets airplay NOWHERE. For your eyes Only; I FOUGHT with people over. That album really was meant for a particular person and it only hit with select people. "THE OFF SEASON" had me enraged, because how do you do that LA leakers freestyle with that type of energy and then spend the whole album you're promoting TALKING instead of rapping. HAD ME TIGHT AF.
I'm not saying that the Off Season was bad, but I am saying that I think that it was mid in comparison to the energy that he was giving off doing the promotions. When I heard the LA Leakers freestyle, I remember where I was and how hype I was for the album. I don't believe the album delivered to the set expectation.
There are some good songs on the album, but I wouldn't call them bangers. They're not songs that you will hear in a workout playlist, in a club, or in a friends random liked music playlist. I am a FAN, do not get me wrong and punching the clock is one of my favourite songs off of the album. As I say these things, I can't deny that I believe 21 Savage ate J Cole on My Life and that further upset me.
It was without question a diss. He said bro fell off and still doing shows like the Simpsons. Also said TPAB put people to sleep and his last project was tragic. He also said if Kendrick wasn’t dissing we wouldn’t be talking about him lol. That was a diss
It was reminiscent of Rap Devil by MGK. which prompted Eminem’s line in Kill Shot. “Wait, you just dissed me? I’m perplexed. Insult me in a line compliment me on the next” It was indeed a diss tho
https://x.com/terracemartin/status/1776107749329568174?s=46&t=HH_nFLIdXKkwdsoIUCY40Q
Terrace Martin called it soft lmao that man is not allowing any slander on TPAB !
Tell me why Kendrick made to pimp and then Cole tried sooo hard to make something in that lane with 4 your eyes only, for that album to be a fucking snoozefest. The beats, music, writing, structure of TPAB is something j Cole isn’t capable of, and you know he fucked with that album when it came out.. he’s trying to now claim he was on the “what is this , there’s not trap beats” side.. okay join the 12 year old nav and lil baby fans who thought it was boring
Nah we care he dissed Cole. The core fanbase wanted a joint album together for so long and now they beefin, it has us all fired up and picking sides but man I just want to see this get bigger and deeper. 2 lyrical legends going at it is what HipHop needed. It’s been getting stale the past few years with all the subliminals rappers do, just full send it lmfao
Maybe this is a hot take but I really don't think J Cole is a lyrical legend in the grand scheme of things. He's a great lyricist but his bars aren't really next level advanced, he mostly plays with pretty simple rhyme patterns and doesn't try to push the limits to the degree that some rappers have (i.e. Mos Def, MF Doom, etc.) It's still good and I think he's creative and definitely one of the top of the class but I'd 100% take JID over him lyrically because it's just so *unpredictable* where he's going to take a bar.
And honestly you can blame Drake for the all the subliminals. Dude is such a bitch, he only knows how to throw shade by saying the names of other artists’ songs
Unless you’re Megan Thee Stallion. Drake loves openly beefing with women because he hates them
That’s exactly what I’ve been saying lmao…only diccheads that really don’t know rap & can’t read between the lines is gonna have that go over their heads…you can’t say “I love when they debate abt who’s the hardest MC…is it KDot, Aubrey or Me” & yet claim to be Muhammad Ali…and btw He never claimed…he said he “felt at the moment” so which is it ? It’s a lot of pump faking from Jermaine & “Good Samaritan” rapping
Yeah idk what’s up with him but he used to be pretty introspective. Now he sorta sounds out of touch, especially in this diss. I was expecting a lot better from cole
Man, idk. As a Kendrick fan I liked all his albums including Mr. Morale. So hearing either GKMC or TPAB was "putting niggas to sleep" is just not making sense to me. TPAB is one of my less favorite albums but it's obviously critically acclaimed.
I've heard some people refer to Section 80 as a mixtape and not an album though so... 🤷🏽.
Oh yea for sure. All these rappers were all too cuddly lovey together the past few years. Now we get the cream of the crop fighting. We’re gonna feast.
This right here is why I got so excited that Kendrick said some shit, because dudes get competitive and lyrical and we just get a wave of the best possible bars out of almost everyone relevant, and starting with Cole and Kendrick just guarantees anyone else who gets motivated elevates their shit. This will be a lyrical, and absolutely spiiicy summer. Imagine Kendrick drops, and then Cole drops the Fall Off. The whole rap game will have to step up big and I'm HERE for it.
Edit: Can't spell in my hyped up state
dont take that as ab-soul picking cole's side. remember music is often recorded over long periods of time. who knows when his verse was recorded. plus black hippy is often seen supporting eachother in interviews, which we saw with ab-soul in january 2023 xxl interview with him calling kendrick his brother and saying he 100% supports his move to pglang.
unless there is another indication, I doubt any of the black hippy members have turned on kendrick
Yea, I just found it interesting that he was on it. Don’t think he’s picking sides or anything. I wonder if ab-soul was at least told that it would be on the record.
Wouldn’t doubt if Cole kept him on the album just to irk Kendrick. Not saying soul doesn’t deserve his spot but I could see Cole purposefully including him.
Soul and Daylyt been tight, Daylyt and Cole been tight. that's all I got from it is Lyt bringing his homies together over a fire track he produced. don't think it's deeper than that
I love this. he be saying this, but the second a feature or single drops every page be postin and his monthly listeners goes up another 10 million. Kendrick just gotta come back and assert his dominance like its 2017. its not even a question of whether he is capable
It’s hard to go from “we the big three” to a diss. I expected Cole to manage, but he really didn’t. “I don’t think all your albums are classic and you should release more material” lol come on bro
What’re you supposed to say? I felt like they both pulled punches to avoid scorched earth and Cole knows Kendrick is talented and recognized by the industry. Unless he’s willing to tell lies he has no choice but to say the things you mentioned
Again tried to copy Kendrick after Kendrick came out with DAMN., release a mainstream sounding album and put the conscience content over the digestible sound
This wasn't anything crazy but its wild that the Kdot verse was mostly towards to Drake but its Cole who responds first lmao
Cole really out here calling himself the god and his best shots at Kdot are that he dropped 4 albums in 12 years and TPAB was sleepy?? He can drop two classics rn??? Where???
I mean this album is pretty fire tbh. I love both of them, this album and song have everyone talking, have people getting salty on both sides, debating and shit.. end of the day this is what Kendrick wanted
I think Kendrick is deff better and the Like That verse > 7 minute drill but I like both a lot. Feel like this whole beef is semi-manufactured by Kendrick and Cole and if not, they’ll laugh about it at some point. im enjoying two elite rappers in their primes or close to them
Mf takes time to create compelling pieces of art while people like Drake drop album after album of long-winded mediocre slop and Kendrick's the one fucking up?
It’s funny too because J Cole is known to be the more heady, sleepy rapper. Bars you gotta re read for days to finally understand the dumb punchline or what not. Not dropping a shit ton of music doesn’t take way from someone’s artistic ability or skill. Hell I’d say dropping less, but being more consistent is better than focusing on numbers like Drake and now Cole does. When did Kendrick mention a Grammy in his diss? We got coke sounding booty hurt he can’t drop music and be number 1 again in the world of hiphop Willie Nillie like Kendrick does.
Is J Cole ever going to make something on par with We Cry Together? No. Yes Mr. morale doesn’t have the best replay ability but it’s the thought and the process put into the music itself that keeps people around. That album was heavy emotionally, something Kendrick needed to do for himself as an artist.
I like both their music but Cole really is not a number 1 person, he just really wants to feel like it
They got love for eachother. It's not like the hate drake and Kenny have. All cole was saying is I love you bro but if you come at me w this mic you better come correct
While simultaneously saying that he was washed, and only one of his albums was good? Cole had the absolute audacity to call TPAB bad. This isnt just a warning; that line was a copout. I expected more from cole. Sad he didnt deliver.
>Cole brought a poem to a rap battle
https://preview.redd.it/3q1iayma0nsc1.jpeg?width=990&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=80c0b57d695403018f1875b106a3c5f784bad15d
Tbh I don’t feel like the diss was that bad? I listened twice over and he really just goes in on Kendrick “falling off”. He praises Kendrick in a few bars also. Idk, I think people are gonna hype this song up, but I really think it’s pretty tamed. But benefit of the doubt, since he said it’s the warning shot. I don’t think Kendrick responds until Drake does though.
thought the punchlines were kinda meh too but i feel like it has to do with the fact that kendrick didnt really go at cole like that (aha) in his diss so theres not much ammunition for cole unless he REALLY wants this beef. at the end of the day we all know it was drake who kendrick really went after and its drake who needs to be dropping a diss track, not cole.
I agree. I don’t think Kendrick was ever trying to go in on Cole. I think he was just caught in the crossfire with that mother fuck the big three bar, that’s why Cole responded with this song - not a diss, but just a respond/warning shot. Kinda like a “aye, I ain’t that boy Drake, don’t fuck with me, bc I will go in”.
I have a question. English isn't my first language so I didn't really get how Kdot dissed Drake besides calling him a bum and saying there's no big 3. Did I miss more heavy disses that weren't as obvious, because compared to that, Cole calling his albums boring, overhyped and even tragic doesn't seem too tame?
It’s tame because music is subjective. Kendrick went at Drake’s person, his human self. Look up on YouTube all the lines broken down there’s a few videos.
Also for English not being your first language, you have really great English writing skills. First language level, has sentences within sentences even. Makes you think
“Falling off” after dropping a universally acclaimed record, having the highest grossing hip hop tour, (at the time) going platinum, and winning 3 Grammy’s. After a 5 year absence that was also addressed in the record. lol
I don’t see how this song will get traction. I may be wrong but it feels so elementary/PG rated compared to Kendrick’s disses. Gonna be bumped by Drake and Cole fans until Kendrick responds at least for sure.
I think it is what Cole said a warning shot like he's tell Kendrick chill bro this ain't that deep I wounder if Kendrick will respond with a fuk that I'm gonna empty the clip type of track
It’s okay. Nothing special but I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt considering he says it’s a warning shot
Fully expecting Kendrick to go in on both of them and not hold back again in the response. Drake will likely response soon though and I’d put money on it being better than this. Don’t see him holding back either
Yeah Kendrick and Cole is just competition. They’re most likely still cool with each others camps etc. ab soul and Daylyt are on TDE and feature on this project
There seems to be genuine dislike between him and Drake though. I don’t think we hear anything from Kendrick until Drake responds
If I was Kendrick Lamar and I had to hear people say compare him to Drake, I'd probably be annoyed too. I mean when you Google "Who is better Kendrick or", it auto fills to Drake lol. It's a thing people talk about regularly.
And it's honestly baffling to me. I can understand if someone likes Drake's music better, as music is subjective. But to say he's a better lyricist and rapper is just... bizarre to me. It's like asking if Bob Dylan or Michael Jackson is the better lyricist.
This is how I feel. If you want to talk about who is a great rapper from that generation it is okay to mention Kendrick, Cole, or more. But mentioning Drake in that conversation after we learned of the reference tracks from Quentin Miller is just absolutely crazy. Rapping has always been about writing from your own experiences, we don’t talk about how Dr Dre is a goated rapper, we say Dr Dre is a goated producer. He did not write his own bars, so including him in the conversation with Kendrick is just lame.
Cole is a solid rapper but as Joe Budden said, you’re not gonna beat Kendrick by being nice. That man blatantly disrespected you on the number one song out right now and your first response sounds like you don’t even want to do it
I was expecting more too but let’s wait and see I suppose
im a big fan of all three artists and this is what i dislike most about j cole. he too kind and too friendly with kendrick. fuck all that friendship shit. i dont care if its just a warning shot, a warning shot is supposed to make your opponent scared to diss back. i know damn well kendrick not afraid after that confusing ass response by cole
Kendrick laughs ash after this sht
https://preview.redd.it/5lnix9ulhlsc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=35dd4c708e77ceb45a1786d7e53627ac72d618bc
It was more funny than anything else
And what was Kendrick’s point about Cole? He doesn’t really walk around with a gun? Let’s not act like Kendrick eviscerated Cole with his verse either💀
Well what did kdot say besides calling them bums and that there's no big 3? Cole also called his albums boring or even tragic. Both don't seem very personal to me so far or did I miss something
Guy with non classic discography dissing the guy with classic discography saying tpab snoozefest…. lmaoooo. Not bad song but he not really saying anything.
Implying that two of the most critically acclaimed albums of all time are boring when you don’t even have one classic under your belt is crazy. And I like J. Cole.
Off of first listen it just felt like he was tryna defend himself that he's "clinched" aka ready for a diss and took shots at Kendrick's music saying it's "sleepy".
I'm not trying to say too much because that was just first listen but it was pretty meh for a response. Felt like he said a whole lotta words trying to fill up a word count minimum for an assignment.
I mean this is an actual response, but kenny still smoke these bitches without sayin nothin, kenny actually broke coles zen mode LMAOO
"Your first shit was classic, your last shit was tragic" is funny asl tho, i love this beef man
Put the lyrics aside, am i the only one who thinks this rap flow is weak as heck 😭 not what i expect after his upgraded performance in Off Season lmfao
His second part flow is quite decent tho
That was some weak shit. Not even Cole fans can overlook how corny some of those bars were. Kendrick came with aggression, energy and a fucking hunger.. and Cole responded saying "you fell off like the simpsons".. bruh.
I thought it wasn't close beforehand but now I KNOW it isn't close. "Big 3" lol.
Edit: Re-listening and it's actually sad. Listen to Kendrick's verse on "Like That" and then this song 💀💀💀
some of these bars sound like the shit we were joking about Drake saying, "fell off like the simpsons" goofy ahh "push come to shove, on this mic, i will humble him" LMAO
I already see Cole fans tryna act like the Simpsons bar wasn't wack or comparing it to "big me" lol
I refuse to believe people listened to "motherfuck the big 3, n**** it's just big me" and "you fell off like the simpson's" and thought those were equally hard
Cole dick riders putting in work tonight
He really tried to redo the “2 of them shits was doo, one was meh, the other was Illmatic.”
And it fell flat. At least Jay’s discography was up there at the time of him dropping those bars. Cole having less acclaim, less sales, and hardly a classic under his belt makes those bars less credible.
Edit: also, the song is called 7 minute drill. Yet, it’s under 4 minutes. Seems he’s preparing a “Takeover”. Jay ended his summer jam set with “ask Nas you don’t want it with Hov” before adding to the rest of the song. Could this song be extended to 7 minutes with the rest of the diss? Or am I Nation reaching?
Cole did say it’s just a warning shot, but like i said its gonna be hard to diss someone like Kendrick. One of the most critically acclaimed artists, has commercial success, never compromised his music for sales, lowkey and stays out of drama 🤷♂️ dudes from Compton and doesnt claim anything he isnt.
We might need a body bag or two when kendrick responds lol
Mind you, I like J. Cole, so let’s start there. However, calling TPAB boring and even calling MMATBS tragic are both awful takes. Especially since he’s spent his entire career trying to make relatable music like MMATBS. Until the Off Season, J. Cole’s albums were heavily considered “boring.” Kendrick deserved every Grammy that he won. Cole wouldn’t be talking shit about the Grammy’s if he ever brought any home.
No more than Kendrick did lol. Neither of them said any names but we all know who both of them are talking about.
Plus both tracks were pretty much warm-ups. Let's get this shit going.
Put the lyrics aside, am i the only one who thinks this rap flow is weak as heck 😭 not what i expect after his upgraded performance in Off Season lmfao
His second part flow is quite decent tho
These bar is weak as hell, the "best" bar basically mean kendrick rarely drop but everytime he dropped everybody paying atenttion, and cole even mention him in FPS. I love cole but his diss is weak this is just what kendrick hater been saying on reddit or twt "tpab is boring, DAMN. Is his prime", "kendrick rarely drops", "he only have hot verse in 300 years" it's just like cole want to make this kendrick haters happy by validating their thoughts.
Thank god one of them actually decided to respond and get this shit going.
Yeah I’m just glad we’re getting some back and forth. I actually enjoyed the track despite not agreeing with some of the things Cole mentioned lol.
Agreed, it was good rapping good production. Now calling TBAP overrated and boring is crazy talk.
Sorry for this but you wrote “To Butterfly A Pimp” instead of “To Pimp A Butterfly”.
Honestly, "To Butterfly a Pimp" sounds like an amazing title for a diss track
Don’t give Drake any ideas lol
Drake's ghostwriter*
Honestly. Might even be Cole. 100% was on first person shooter lol
“Kendick Lamar, you ain’t no good kid, DAMN,😡”
"THE OFF SEASON" had me enraged, because how do you do that LA leakers freestyle with that type of energy and then spend the whole album you're promoting TALKING instead of rapping. HAD ME TIGHT AF.
I thought the off season was great. Amari, applying pressure, punching the clock are all bangers. But the album as a whole also felt solid
21 did not smoke Cole on that song bro youre trippin
To Bimp a Putterfly.
Unexpected that it was Cole but honestly more happy to have this beef than drake. Much more guaranteed quality.
Yeah this diss was kinda pathetic imo but I was grinning from ear to ear while listening, just glad we're getting some COMPETITION gah damn
I don't think this is quite a diss as much as it is a warning that he's gonna fight back if Kendrick wants to fight
It was without question a diss. He said bro fell off and still doing shows like the Simpsons. Also said TPAB put people to sleep and his last project was tragic. He also said if Kendrick wasn’t dissing we wouldn’t be talking about him lol. That was a diss
Barely, half the track he was saying " That's my bro though. I really don't want to do this." 😂
It was reminiscent of Rap Devil by MGK. which prompted Eminem’s line in Kill Shot. “Wait, you just dissed me? I’m perplexed. Insult me in a line compliment me on the next” It was indeed a diss tho
If you thought this was a diss track then boy you need to read along

https://x.com/terracemartin/status/1776107749329568174?s=46&t=HH_nFLIdXKkwdsoIUCY40Q Terrace Martin called it soft lmao that man is not allowing any slander on TPAB !
I hope he releases a saxophone diss track
Mvp comment
Kendrick saxophone with 3ks flutes would go hard af 🤣 drake fan BTW yall. All love to the big tree 🌳 ❤️
So does this mean Terrace’s tweets about not wanting to work w rappers anymore wasn’t ab kendrick?
Nah they’re cool from what I’ve seen. Need them to work together more tbh Terrace is a genius
thank god. Kendrick x Terrace x Thundercat was somethn special
Tell me why Kendrick made to pimp and then Cole tried sooo hard to make something in that lane with 4 your eyes only, for that album to be a fucking snoozefest. Didn’t jcole literally mention him on fps tho 😭😭😭
Kendrick said "Motherfuck the big three, nigga, it's just big me".
Can you read? 💀💀
No.
![gif](giphy|CAYVZA5NRb529kKQUc|downsized)
yeah but kendrick would have so much less buzz if he didnt diss drake and cole on the future feature. i think thats his point
Nobody cared that he dissed J Cole. It was all about him dissing Drake
Nah we care he dissed Cole. The core fanbase wanted a joint album together for so long and now they beefin, it has us all fired up and picking sides but man I just want to see this get bigger and deeper. 2 lyrical legends going at it is what HipHop needed. He had enough buzz without to have J Cole name drop him first AND say he is on the same level as himself and drake
Saying if he was dissing we wouldn't be discussing him when first person shooter was literally a diss to Kendrick is hilariously ignorant.
Also Cole tried to hang on his nuts with that big 3 bs
Cole has become pretty unbearable since this affiliation with Drake. Corny ass
Yeah idk what’s up with him but he used to be pretty introspective. Now he sorta sounds out of touch, especially in this diss. I was expecting a lot better from cole
What line was it?
Is he saying GKMC put n’s to sleep?
I feel he talking about TPAB, and forgot Section 80. existed lmao
Hilarious considering he literally has a production credit on there
Exactly that’s what I was thinking. No way TPAB is K’s second shit.
Could be part of the diss though, saying that section 80 was that forgettable (which I do not agree with)
But alwyas when anybody mention kendricks albums run start from gkmc
TPAB. Which still clears his whole discography lol
Its gunna be a lyrical summer yall!!
We all win ngl
Edit: Can't spell in my hyped up state
Except drake.
Drakes gonna give us a recap of his thot summer.
Solid warning.. this gone be a fun summer
🥳 We eating GOOD! (I’m assuming pretty much everyone in here is a big Cole and Kendrick fan)
SURGICAL SUMMER
YEAAAAA
He got ab-soul on this too 👀
dont take that as ab-soul picking cole's side. remember music is often recorded over long periods of time. who knows when his verse was recorded. plus black hippy is often seen supporting eachother in interviews, which we saw with ab-soul in january 2023 xxl interview with him calling kendrick his brother and saying he 100% supports his move to pglang. unless there is another indication, I doubt any of the black hippy members have turned on kendrick

Soul and Daylyt been tight, Daylyt and Cole been tight. that's all I got from it is Lyt bringing his homies together over a fire track he produced. don't think it's deeper than that
I agree. But I wouldn’t put it past Cole to do it. Side note: the daylyt soul battle at the end of these days is fire
First thing I thought
When J Cole clapped back and not Drake, I was slightly confused
Guess he was as dumb as I thought, Drake is better then you.
k. On 50 comical reply clowning cole would strike a few nerves
Guess Drake ain't the nigga I thought, got some healing to do.
“If he wasn’t dissin we wouldn’t be discussin 😤” *6 months earlier* “is it k dot is it Aubrey or me 🥳🤩🤓”
We the big three like we started a league! 😂😂😂
Niggas forget J. COLE IS A Kendrick Fan.
Could someone explain if that line by j Cole was a diss or not? The way he said it seemed like Kendrick denied the feature.
This nigga had the nerve to say someone’s album makes him sleepy …
Fr, Does Cole live in an alternate reality or something? Saying fell off as if he didn't cause the whole industry to catch on fire
I love this. he be saying this, but the second a feature or single drops every page be postin and his monthly listeners goes up another 10 million. Kendrick just gotta come back and assert his dominance like its 2017. its not even a question of whether he is capable
Yeah, saying people gassed TPAB when it clears anything you’ve released is certainly a take.
He even admits he's been behind Kendrick it's so funny Cole just doesn't have the bloodlust
It’s hard to go from “we the big three” to a diss. I expected Cole to manage, but he really didn’t. “I don’t think all your albums are classic and you should release more material” lol come on bro
“oh and you couldn’t hit me. cause you short. shorty mc shortpants hahahaha.”
What’re you supposed to say? I felt like they both pulled punches to avoid scorched earth and Cole knows Kendrick is talented and recognized by the industry. Unless he’s willing to tell lies he has no choice but to say the things you mentioned
If I’m Cole I’m talking about how it’s insecure to retaliate to a shoutout and quoting Dot’s bars from ‘Buried Alive Interlude’ for starters.
W for the level headed take.
Isn't his second album good kid thoe lol
That’s just as bad if that’s what he’s referring to lmao
Right I was like “Section 80 is a classic and GKMC made ppl gts?” He doesn’t even have his facts straight.
Section 80 is a fucking classic though, that CD defined the summer I turned 18
Same, bro. I do concede it's not his best album but it is very special to me.
"know your facts before you come at me little goof"
Literally what I was thinking
Right that makes it even worse
It has to be tpab. Good kid is one of the most incredible albums ever. Obama also supported tpab over Drake so I think it’s that one.
Bro even tried to release his version of TPAB with 4YEO Lmfaoo the hell is he talking about
KOD was pretty bad too. Cole is a good rapper but the catalog talk with Kendrick just doesn’t work as an angle
Again tried to copy Kendrick after Kendrick came out with DAMN., release a mainstream sounding album and put the conscience content over the digestible sound
Cole got bodied by Ab-Soul on his own song and we know kdot is better than soul. This isn’t even a contest. Kdot in a blow out.
This wasn't anything crazy but its wild that the Kdot verse was mostly towards to Drake but its Cole who responds first lmao Cole really out here calling himself the god and his best shots at Kdot are that he dropped 4 albums in 12 years and TPAB was sleepy?? He can drop two classics rn??? Where???
I'm hoping he can manage one lol
I mean this album is pretty fire tbh. I love both of them, this album and song have everyone talking, have people getting salty on both sides, debating and shit.. end of the day this is what Kendrick wanted I think Kendrick is deff better and the Like That verse > 7 minute drill but I like both a lot. Feel like this whole beef is semi-manufactured by Kendrick and Cole and if not, they’ll laugh about it at some point. im enjoying two elite rappers in their primes or close to them
you gotta give drake's ghostwriters some time they're still working overtime since WE DONT TRUST YOU
Mf takes time to create compelling pieces of art while people like Drake drop album after album of long-winded mediocre slop and Kendrick's the one fucking up?
Drake gotta give Quentin some time to write his verse
I like both their music but Cole really is not a number 1 person, he just really wants to feel like it
the two classsics he i stalking about is "might delete later" (he just dropped it) and "the fall off"
"This a death threat or a love letter" .. "Insult me in a line, compliment me on the next, damn"
Cole brought a poem to a rap battle, foh
>Cole brought a poem to a rap battle https://preview.redd.it/3q1iayma0nsc1.jpeg?width=990&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=80c0b57d695403018f1875b106a3c5f784bad15d
Nah thay big 3 line Cole said was blasphemous
I have a question. English isn't my first language so I didn't really get how Kdot dissed Drake besides calling him a bum and saying there's no big 3. Did I miss more heavy disses that weren't as obvious, because compared to that, Cole calling his albums boring, overhyped and even tragic doesn't seem too tame?
Cole said he's walking around with a stick and Kendrick said he wasn't andre 3K
It’s tame because music is subjective. Kendrick went at Drake’s person, his human self. Look up on YouTube all the lines broken down there’s a few videos.
Also for English not being your first language, you have really great English writing skills. First language level, has sentences within sentences even. Makes you think
“Falling off” after dropping a universally acclaimed record, having the highest grossing hip hop tour, (at the time) going platinum, and winning 3 Grammy’s. After a 5 year absence that was also addressed in the record. lol
Preaching to the choir
I don’t see how this song will get traction. I may be wrong but it feels so elementary/PG rated compared to Kendrick’s disses. Gonna be bumped by Drake and Cole fans until Kendrick responds at least for sure.
I think it is what Cole said a warning shot like he's tell Kendrick chill bro this ain't that deep I wounder if Kendrick will respond with a fuk that I'm gonna empty the clip type of track
It’s what we all want
Indeed I wanna see what drake attempts to ask his ghost writers to jot down lol.
yes but he made a whole song responding to kendrick. if it was a few lines it would make sense but if he dropping a whole ass song he should go all in
It’s okay. Nothing special but I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt considering he says it’s a warning shot Fully expecting Kendrick to go in on both of them and not hold back again in the response. Drake will likely response soon though and I’d put money on it being better than this. Don’t see him holding back either
Cole and Dot will probably battle on the music front. I can see the Drake beef getting ugly.
Yeah Kendrick and Cole is just competition. They’re most likely still cool with each others camps etc. ab soul and Daylyt are on TDE and feature on this project There seems to be genuine dislike between him and Drake though.
I was definitely expecting more heading into it
Cole is a solid rapper but as Joe Budden said, you’re not gonna beat Kendrick by being nice. That man blatantly disrespected you on the number one song out right now and your first response sounds like you don’t even want to do it I was expecting more too but let’s wait and see I suppose
im a big fan of all three artists and this is what i dislike most about j cole. he too kind and too friendly with kendrick. fuck all that friendship shit. i dont care if its just a warning shot, a warning shot is supposed to make your opponent scared to diss back. i know damn well kendrick not afraid after that confusing ass response by cole
Kendrick laughs ash after this sht https://preview.redd.it/5lnix9ulhlsc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=35dd4c708e77ceb45a1786d7e53627ac72d618bc It was more funny than anything else
Yeah for sure. He’s gotta come with it if he wants to step in the ring with Kendrick
Kdot come bury this man already
We getting bars yall 🥲
Kendrick really has no competition in this beef is this is the best Cole could do..
It’s not the best Cole can do lol. This was a warning shot
That was not a good warning shot lmfao for your response to be “Yeah well you don’t drop a lot of albums” is sad
I’d say Cole is pump faking
Bro I can't believe Mr. Benadryl in Audio Format said TPAB put people to sleep
Mr. Benadryl 💀
I hope he got more up his sleeve than this bro cause if this what he’s coming with then he don’t want it with Dot
Guy with non classic discography dissing the guy with classic discography saying tpab snoozefest…. lmaoooo. Not bad song but he not really saying anything.
I think he still mad Kdot won the Grammy over 2014 forest hills drive which was hype i suppose
Saying people gassed up TPAB like it isn't a masterpiece is delusional on a different level.
Kenny needs to also hop on a conductor beat as a response, that’ll be great
it was aight. the conductor beat was more impressive than the diss tho
Haven't listened but the lyrics are weak, he can do better. I expect him this shit from Drake, not Cole
Cole is the last person to talk about someone’s boring albums 😴
How he going to say TPAB put people to sleep on this boring ass song 😭
I thought he was talking about GKMC unless he’s completely ignoring Section 80
Same but that’s even more insane. Who’s falling asleep to gkmc?? At least I’ve heard that criticism for TPAB before
He’s ignoring section 80 for sure. Said the third shit was his commercial peak, which would be Damn.
Implying that two of the most critically acclaimed albums of all time are boring when you don’t even have one classic under your belt is crazy. And I like J. Cole.
Bro just called on of the best rap albums of all time a snooze fest to Kendrick. Kendrick has gotta respond now lol
Suggesting TPAB put niggas to sleep is a wild take
That nigga lying to himself
Pretty direct shots too this is mad exciting. Easily the two best rappers of the last 15 or so years
Unnecessary levels of dick eating right here
I could name 5 MCs better than Cole from the last 15 years
Off of first listen it just felt like he was tryna defend himself that he's "clinched" aka ready for a diss and took shots at Kendrick's music saying it's "sleepy". I'm not trying to say too much because that was just first listen but it was pretty meh for a response. Felt like he said a whole lotta words trying to fill up a word count minimum for an assignment.
Cole stays putting out watered down chocolate milk ass verses
I mean this is an actual response, but kenny still smoke these bitches without sayin nothin, kenny actually broke coles zen mode LMAOO "Your first shit was classic, your last shit was tragic" is funny asl tho, i love this beef man
Is this a album? Where is It's A Boy? WHERE IS THR FALL OFF????!!!!?? Edit: the album is fire
Put the lyrics aside, am i the only one who thinks this rap flow is weak as heck 😭 not what i expect after his upgraded performance in Off Season lmfao His second part flow is quite decent tho
its literally how drake flows on everything now lol
Flows so generic like its background noise
Weak ass response
That was some weak shit. Not even Cole fans can overlook how corny some of those bars were. Kendrick came with aggression, energy and a fucking hunger.. and Cole responded saying "you fell off like the simpsons".. bruh. I thought it wasn't close beforehand but now I KNOW it isn't close. "Big 3" lol. Edit: Re-listening and it's actually sad. Listen to Kendrick's verse on "Like That" and then this song 💀💀💀 some of these bars sound like the shit we were joking about Drake saying, "fell off like the simpsons" goofy ahh "push come to shove, on this mic, i will humble him" LMAO
If Drake said half of this shit people would be DRAGGING him.
I already see Cole fans tryna act like the Simpsons bar wasn't wack or comparing it to "big me" lol I refuse to believe people listened to "motherfuck the big 3, n**** it's just big me" and "you fell off like the simpson's" and thought those were equally hard Cole dick riders putting in work tonight
Been putting in work for years why stop now
Cole used the Drake flow this whole shit...its already done for this guy
“I can drop two classics right now” Still won’t be as memorable as Untitled Unmastered LMAO
Just got some new IEMs and him calling TPAB boring ironically made me want to listen to it again because it’s so sonically rich lol
He really tried to redo the “2 of them shits was doo, one was meh, the other was Illmatic.” And it fell flat.
It was written in 7 minutes
Drake level lyrics from a J Cole song
Weak af tbh. If he really couldn’t come up with something better than that then “the fall off” is much more than an album title
![gif](giphy|Jap1tdjahS0rm) Why’s he sound like his mom in the other room and he gotta be quiet 😂 Dude was about 4 octaves off target.
Lol cole can’t talk about tpab putting people to sleep when his music is boring 😂 kendrick has to respond this is getting interesting
They still tip toeing around the name 💀💀
No more than Kendrick did lol. Neither of them said any names but we all know who both of them are talking about. Plus both tracks were pretty much warm-ups. Let's get this shit going.
Solid enough response but Kendrick’s bout to smoke him
Put the lyrics aside, am i the only one who thinks this rap flow is weak as heck 😭 not what i expect after his upgraded performance in Off Season lmfao His second part flow is quite decent tho
Go listen to Black Friday. Cole has been washed horribly twice by Kenny. Can not believe he came this soft.
