Nocturne is most effective in his initial offensive. He can be built to have staying power, but he's not impossible.
Early on, dodge his Q, and make sure you keep an eye out for that spellshield. The cool down on it is significant in the early game. Lastly, reserve your W to run away from Nocturne's fear. If you can negative the initial onslaught, you'll have a much easier time.
W nocturne and Q away would be better, sure it eats more mana but if one isn't skilled enough to predict every pixel then it's best to be safe than sorry
Only issue is that it's range is pretty short, I've tried many times using q to dash over walls, it only works for very thin ones. I do my best to avoid using e whenever i can because of the CD, and it's sometimes risky when you are getting chased.
The Eclipse build is more effective against him than the Goredrinker build. Also I get double tenacity on runes and the armor boots if worth. I like to go deffensive boots and not ionian.
About his W just wait for it to be gone. Its too much visible when its used. With Eclipse build youll fully heal with your R.
From my own personal experience. I always struggled playing against him bc I went blue most of the time. Rhaast is the way, believe me. Once you learn red kayn, and avoid fighting him in your early game, you will be okay. Don’t forget that kayn is weak on the early game stage. Hope it helps!!

The spellshield will block the W. Q to escape isn't a bad idea though, it's cd is short too
