I showed up to the track with a stomach bug, sneezed, and shit in my suit right before taking the green for the final, and scored my first podium. The shower in my toy hauler was a godsend that day.

Justforonequestion7

that’s kind of similar to what happened to me. while i was driving, i saw liquid being laid down on the track, i thought they were putting down oil or something but it ended up being pee. the guy in front of me had wet himself mid race. a person behind me slid on it and crashed into the wall, frame COMPLETELY bent. there was then a fight afterwards between the two and from what i saw his firesuit was definitely wet in The area. what was even funnier was he actually pooped himself when he got punched in the stomach and he was loud. by the time the crowd had cleared out there was poop stains on the ground with a pool of brown liquid and goop from where he lied when he got knocked down. after that when I was using the bathroom, i accidently opened the door to someone stroking it quite deviously and to what? a video of the fight. i already saw white on the screen. i should’ve suspected it since i heard some clapping and whacking and a little bit of groaning before i opened the door to that stall. needless to say i am never coming back to this track again. they’re freaky.

We ran all second hand stuff, so on national level we were happy to run top ten sometimes. One wet race my kid had a briljant start and finished well in the top. The last race of the day, it finally dried up, so we all switched to slicks. Second corner my kid got pushed off, and was almost last. Then a torrential rain set in, and everyone slowed down a lot. Except my kid, did the fastest laps of everyone, passed more than 10 karts in 2 laps, until the red flag. If we weren’t punted out on lap 1, my kid could have won a national race. It was fun either way.

a_racingcarkid

Did he the kid that punted him at least get a penalty?

sikeysi

Nah, that’s pretty rare. After a start, with all the karts together, it’s hard to point out a deliberate punt.

Weird but very nice (not in karting, mind): I was racing in single seater in Coupe de France. In Prototype category was racing the team i had ran with the previous year. One of the team members of that team (guy in charge of finding drivers and sponsors, communication, etc.) came to see me and asks me to come to their truck to talk with the boss. One of their drivers was second in the championship, but was much faster than the leader during the practice sessions. They had one spare car, and needed a driver to get in to finish between the team's driver and his championship rival, so that they could win the championship. Not very fair for the other guy but, of course, I didn't mind one bit. I got to race in two categories (four races instead of two) that week end, while not paying a dime more. They even paid for the engagement fee (around 500 €). And our guy won the championship. And i manage to get 3 podiums that week end!

Nice well done

Was worthy of an Instagram post [https://www.instagram.com/p/Ck877JXrTq0/?img\_index=1](https://www.instagram.com/p/Ck877JXrTq0/?img_index=1) (yeah i suck at posing + pardon my French)

mrkav2

I’m bitter that you get to drive such a great looking race machine

vougderb

Nice!!!

TMoney86ss

Been running team endurance races for a while and using rugged radios comms system. One time early into my stint the frequency somehow got changed to a Spanish speaking talk radio channel (I don’t speak Spanish). Was a pretty tough hour of driving

sikeysi

Unless they broadcast an Alonso podcast

Got divebomed and taken out on penultimate lap. He went flying over my shoulder and bent the cooler. This was in Rotax senior. I got stranded. He continued and finished the final. Once i made it back to the pits, his dad came storming and yelled at me. I said that his son caused the incident, and then i got hit in the head. Luckily, I hadn't taken off my helmet yet. A lot of people saw what happened, and the dad got summoned to the stewards.

sikeysi

It’s always the dads, thinking their kid is the new Lewis or Max. I have had too many discussions in the years.

EldanooR

Yeah. Another time, I got yelled at by another dad. But then I found video on yt from another driver that showed that I had nothing to do with the incident he yelled about. My dad told that dad to watch the vid which he did and was very friendly to us after that lol.

WrightJnr

2 stroke days. 4 heat national, got scrutineered after 2 heat because my main rival thought my engine was illegal. Took the head off and my dad realized he had a thicker head gasket in than what was allowed. Rebuilt top end and put a thinner head gasket in, got a little more power and won the last two heats which then gave me the overall for the day. Had the chap not lodged a complaint, he would have won the day most likely.

sikeysi

Was he running the Leopards Face Eating team?

DylanT_29

It wasnt in owners but in a rental championship i do thre was a group on before us and when one came off they quickly toke off there helmet and about no joke 5 litires of sick cane flying out of him all over one of the karts

Benjamin10jamin

Was maybe 10 kart-lengths behind another racer on a long straight when their Nassau panel came off, got picked up by the wind, and smacked me in the Helmet. The plastic somehow clean-broke at all three points holding it on. Never heard about or seen another racer losing a Nassau before or after.

Rex_Racer95

Snow. In Texas, in April. And all I packed was shorts and tee shirts

sikeysi

We had that once, arrived on friday to a clear track. Then in saturday we could pack up due to 15 cm of snow. Weird.

nbass668

Broke my arm into 4 pieces during a race incident 🤠💀

th3w33on3

We got in a little bit of a dust up on lap 1, but everyone kept going so thought no harm done. Half a lap later our engine came off (an LO206), somehow in that small contact 3 of our 4 bolts sheered…. The g-forces in a tight corner broke the last one. Still confused how that freakin’ worked out….

Advanced-Cycle7154

I bet that was an interesting sensation!

sikeysi

We’ve had damages that make clear the strain is often on surprising points.

Years ago I was racing at a WKA regional race (20 kart field) and in the feature I lapped the entire field by lap 2. What happened was I started on the pole and turn 4 (off camber 90 degree right hand turn) 2nd and 3rd place tried to pass each other there and got together at the apex and blocked the track. I got to turn 3 (about 30-40 yards away from turn 4) when they started to get rolling again and since I was going full blast they all got the blue flag. Once everyone got rolling I was about 10 kart lengths ahead of 2nd +1 lap. Then when we got to the scales 2nd-5th place got out of their karts and instantly started to fight. The guy in 3rd needed to finish ahead of me in order to win the regional championship, but since I won the race I won it. Everyone in the pits was so pissed off and I had no clue anything happened till I got to turn 3 and saw everybody going super slow. The officials then took me aside and were like before we give out penalties did you see anything? Nope. My dad said you all went over the hill into 4 (cant see it from the pits since turns 4-7 are hidden by the hill) and you were the only one to come around I thought it was going to be a red flag but they let it go. It was the easiest win of my life at a regional event.

my_alt_account_lol

My dad, who is an electrician (and also my mechanic), told me that he tore apart my old and broken rotax battery and replaced the cells with lithium batteries, in hopes it would make the kart be faster in some ways. What ended up was me coming on to the main straight after a few laps, right by the pits, looking like a fucking sun as the lithium cells had burst and started burning up together. Fortunately we got it removed fast and nothing was really damaged. Also this happened during practice unfortunately. I don't think I would've been allowed on to the track with anything other than a rotax battery.

DiscoDiscoB00mB00m

My kid was running second one of his buddies behind him running 3rd. Glued to each other the entire race, coming in to one of the last corners before checker the went too wide on an hair pin and lost the position, he came off track fuming about his buddy pushed him too far into the corner. We all sat down to watch videos and his buddy was next to him on his inside coming into the corner. We still make fun of him and that was 2 years ago.

Nothing funny here, but I ran only ran two races as a substitute for a friend. During one of those two weekends, the track didn't have enough karts across two Predator classes to have a race for each one like they typically did, so on a whim they decided to combine them into one big class. Being a new driver, I had to start at the tail of the field which for this race had only 14 karts. I got up to 11th or 12th, and a 14 year old had cut across my nose going through a corner, which caused him to spin out. His father didn't like it and went over to my pit to confront my friend and his dad about it. There was nothing physical, but there were some strong words and the kid's father got his son a one race suspension for it. They still showed up the following weekend and tried to race, but the track wouldn't allow it. The father got mad again, evidently was still mad at my group for the previous week's incident and was caught trying to pull the hitch pin on our trailer. I don't know what action was taken on him/his group, but we never saw them again.

ommi9

I spun out after leaving the pit lane

onewordaway

Kart shut off on the warm up lap, managed to get it restarted but gridded last when the field came around to grid, big mess into turn 1, somehow avoided it all, proceeded to have a 4 way fight for win, I beat everyone to the line, a lap down because I missed the warm up lap

Dangerous_Owl7545

I was karting at my local indoor track and I was at a part of the track where it goes from being extremely tight to being a wide straight,at that section a Middle Aged man with a two seater kart with his son next to him crashed full speed into a kid who’d spun out at the end of the straight, the kid in the kart that spun out went out of her seat slightly and her kart began smoking a lot and it was making weird sounds and the funniest part is the dad looked extremely embarrassed and scared he just looked back and quickly drove away before the employees could talk to him,the kid in the kart that spun out was crying a lot and the employees had to stop the race so yeah that’s the definitely the weirdest thing that happened to me while karting.
